    Another tip from someone who has rosacea: Wait about 20 minutes for your skincare to dry down before using sunscreen, this will help with stinging from sunscreen.

    I have had rosacea for about 40 years and have seen several dermatologists over the years and not one has given up much information except for telling me to use sunscreen and the meteo gel RX. I appreciate your giving us such a good understanding of products as well as the causes of many problems. There are very few dermatologists that take the time to educate. Thank you for that.
    I had two years of immunotherapy and one of the side effects are skin issues, something that has caused me a lot of issues. It has been two years since my last infusion and I still battle skin problems. In my experience, not many doctors are up on this problem. It has been quite an experience.

    Thank you for addressing what will actually help the redness. So many times I see people say "use xyz product or ingredients to help with Rosacea" but it just helps with the bumps, not the persistent facial flushing and no one explains that fully. So I would try the different products thinking it would help the redness but it didn't get any better. It wasn't until I finally was able to get into dermatology that I was prescribed a bimonidine compound that actually helped.

    I have rosecea but never had those flushing symptoms just redness on my cheeks and obviously my chin. The redness on my cheeks never bothered me because I always thought it was cute and grandma was saying it was cute so it's CUTE!! but my chin tho oh my!! When I was a teen I tried to hide it with foundation but had zero makeup talent so it was looking shiny and weird so had to make peace with it somehow 😅. However, I always used Aveeno and it always kinda controlled and calmed my redness and since they launched the moisturizer gel one like 4 years ago I've noticed that my redness turns lighter like pink which makes my rosecea less noticeable so maybe it's the centella asiatica with colloidal oatmeal that works amazing for redness. Of course, you can't get rid of this but fading them temporary feels good and refreshing.

    Another tip:
    Products loaded with centella asiatica in good proportions have helped me a lot. My rosacea is just that of constant redness, no pustules and my acne is controlled with occasional benzoyl peroxide, but it is actually very helpful for me. I also use hypochlorous acid sprays, they are very helpful in keeping the "bug" production at bay, and that has an impact on breakouts. Nizamide as a protective agent in the morning also seems to have some impact (I leave azeliac acid for the night).

    As a male I was diagnosed with rosacea over 20 years ago at 25 years old. I have a more olive complexion. So between age, gender, and coloring I was a rare case. For years I took Doxycycline and tetracycline along with metro cream. The cyclines helped me get rid of the bumps and then I got off the pills entirely after about 12 years. If I get a slight flare up a little metro cream helps. What bothers me most about Rosacea since the beginning is my entire face from forehead down to chin is darker than my neck and rest of the body. All the time. I wish I knew of a product that could help lighten the face so I would be same color. I was wondering if maybe exfoliating would help, but then I heard that is irritating to the face with rosacea. Not sure what to do

    The best OTC thing that has significantly helped my redness and scattered papules is Ivermectin 0.5 OTC once a day topically in the morning. Also use very gentle cleansers (Clinique cleansing balm), and fragrance free gentle skin care including retinol and BHA/AHA. I had to lay off everything for a while because my cheeks, chin, and a bit of my forehead was so red, raw, and sensitive, everything just burned. Worked on repairing my skin barrier then heard about topical ivermectin which has been a game changer in reducing redness, eliminating papules, and improving my skin texture in the affected areas. ALWAYS use a high SPF sunscreen, mostly 100% mineral but am now experimenting with Korean sunscreens that are combo mineral/chemical.

    • @Vantasticviews2
      @Vantasticviews2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@DrDrayzday Yes, I think that is the one. 0.5% OTC, just a small dot (less than peas size) does my cheeks, chin, and forehead. The cream vehicle it’s in is very emollient so probably not good for oily skin. I’m very fair, 59 and had a flare in my 20’s which led me to a dermatologist with excellent results. However, I don’t have insurance at the moment so was looking for a cheaper alternative treatment. I have to say I’m very impressed with the effect of the ivermectin because it really did decrease my redness about 75%. The texture in the affected areas also improved. I’ve been using it daily for about a month now. Also, the topical sensitivity of the affected areas is much less severe.

You can research it online, just make sure you’re getting your info from a reputable site.

    This is interesting to hear about medications that actually do and do not help redness. I've struggled with flushing for a year or two and today was told by a dermatologist it is rosacea. Was prescribed the topical ivermectin, but if it doesn't help with redness what am I even using if for?😩 I see no bumps with my flushing so I'm confused. Feel so discouraged😢 They even said "it should help with background redness."

    I have rosacea and i find that most products for redness don’t do anything. Also, I tried Paula’s choice azelaic acid it is very drying and don’t really work. So now, I have a very simple skincare routine with no fragrance and my skin is doing well. Also, the very best treatment for rosecea is Laser treatment ! It works wonder and it’s not that expensive!

      Yes. Another derm suggested applying to cotton pad and then applying to skin. She suggested if that's too irritating to mix with a little moisturizer and apply that way.

      Yes! If Afrin isn’t strong enough for you, Rofade is a much more concentrated prescription strength version. Obviously everyone has different coverage, but I don’t have a copay for it!

    Trauma created mine and because I have very fair skin I would say it is PIE so doctor said it is a form of Rosacea. He didn't want to prescribe any other cream except Azelaic acid. Dr. Dray, do you think that Rosacea is an auto-immune condition? I know that it is not officially recognized as one, however just curious on your thoughts because I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis but also Rosacea, which has gotten worse over time and now my flares are much more severe than before. Nothing my dermatologist seems to calm the flares fully and I walk around with a red face constantly. Thanks for your time!
