This is the first I have seen of this car. It reminds me of the Falcon I had in the late 70's. It was a 69.5 two door with the 170 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree someone converted to floor shift.
What made it a 69.5 was mid year they went fron the round tail lights, to square.
When I got it, #4 cylinder dropped the valve seat. Had the head redone andreplaced the one bad piston and ran the wheels off it till I blew the clutch. A guy in my barracks had a 68 Fairlane 4 door that ws an old USAF staff car. It had a 302 with an auto matic. I bought it for $100. I used the engine, tranny radiator and what ever it took to put this into the Falcon.
On base they had an auto shop so we hada place to work on our cars. Idraged to Falcon over to the shop with the Fairlane. Swa0ed the engineand tranny in one day with 1 friend.
It was the easiest swap I have ever done. The engine mounts from the Fairlane bolted in just like they came out of the Falcon.
Every thing bolted right in. The standard drive shaft fit right back into the automatic. It was Just like pulling the engine xand tranny and sliding it right back in.
The onlything I had to buy was a shifter for the auto and mufflers. The guy I got it from wanted to keep the mufflers. The 6cylinder and the 3spd tranny the attendant atthe shop bought them for $75 and afried wanted the air shocks and I scrapped the rest of the car and got $50 for that.
So I did the swap and made money on the deal. The car wasn't any quicker or faster with the 302 and it used a bit more gas, but i had a lot of fun in that car.
One day a tractor trailer was selling tires out of the back. I bought some tires in a brand I never heard of back then. Falken Tire. I bought a set of E70 14's. So I was running Falken tires on my Falcon. I thought that was a cool thing to say.
Wish I still had that car. Easy to get upgrades for it. Mechanically it was basically a Mustang.
Today it would get a 5.0 and a 5 or 6 spd manual, be a ripper that way.

Thankyou for the comment Leon! Amazing stories you have and a great insight into the tail light swap over. I knew the Falcon and Mustangs of this era have a lot of parts in common and its great to hear about the Fairlane aswell been so interchangeable
