Gee thanks Martin. Love to hear you talk about the game of golf and the mental part of game. Oh and tried your card trick with the irons and never hit them better. Cheers bud🥂
This is something that resonates with me, I hit my worst shots when I think over the ball. I have had many lessons and everytime they say my swing looks solid and just have a few minor tweaks, but when I get on the course I can’t get myself to just set up and swing.
This is one of the best golf videos ive seen in a long time. The depth of knowledge about the game is incredible. Every player could benefit from watching the whole vid! Well done Trottie
Incredible video! Like any career or hobby, the losses or errant shots are always thought of more than the wins and made shots. This is how you continue to improve. Thanks for sharing this video.
He fixed ya in the first few minutes. "I'm seeing a lil squatty". Lol. Stand up, you can't cross the line, your hands can't get outside. Love it. The book of knowledge was opened once more on this channel.
For me, this the best lesson for a scratch golfer or anyone willing to listen carefully and stop, humble yourself listening to people. Every needs a performance coach!
Lots of great information here. I love the idea of routine being done before you walk up to ball. My biggest problem is constantly worrying about the mechanics of everything while standing over the ball. Too late by then. Great video and great content!
Yea I can relate to that. Thing is once we lose a little confidence we focus more on the process of the process opposed to the actual shot. Martin was right with everything he said in this video, I just needed to be working harder at my game at that time. Work hard and the confidence will grow. Grow the confidence and you'll be able to flow a little more with your routine.
Best content I’ve seen from you Trottie. THIS is how to talk to these coaches/instructors. Learn so much more from this than even watching a serious lesson.
Man the coolest thing about Martin Chuck he treated me with the same attention as he gave Trottie. I randomly sent him a video not for coaching to show the progress, He broke it down and gave me awesome advice. FOR FREE!!!!! If you get a chance to work with Martin and his team you won't regret it.
Honestly a long video, but it's what makes golf, golf.... So much of the game is that space between our ears. Great nuggets about simple mental prep and getting your head out of the game (when in reality your just focusing more on the task at hand). Love the reference to Robin WIlliams skit on Golf (The Best!). Thank you Trottie for sharing. Go play to win!
Remember this lesson trot, remember the checklist should be done by the time you stand over the ball. That was the biggest takeaway for me. Seriously. That’s incredibly good advice right there.
Trottie - I am absolutely hooked on you and your channel. I am glad that both Ian Fraser and my buddies on MyGolfSpy recommended you and your channel! I’m a professional clubfitter, who has been doing it for more than 30 years and who worked in the tour trailers for more than a decade (and a 75 year old golfer who carries what you would call a “sandbagging” 14 handicap), and in just watching three of your videos I have learned a lot and confirmed lots more that I have stored in my mental encyclopedia of clubfitting and golf swing data. Great channel and fantastic content, mate!!!
I grew up playing junior golf with Marty in Ontario in the 80s -- so proud to see how well he's done in the game and in his teaching -- great stuff Trottie!
Been following Martin Chuck for years....his greatest strength is his communication skills n calmness n simplifying things...what a coach! Great to see a high level player like you taking lessons....golf is about humility.....like in life.
One of the best 'lesson videos' I've seen in years. Martin feels so old school in the way he approaches teaching, it's great to know these guys still exist. The use of technology has overtaken the dig it out of the dirt and scoring first mentality. I may be making a trip out to AZ to see Martin.
Chris, this is poss the best lesson you will have ever had and I have seen on TH-cam. Today, most guys get too hung up on technical aspects of golf when it is a fluid game which is full of mistakes. Managing these things in our head is the key. Just go and play but manage expectations and we can all be in our happy places. Good man, keep up the good work.
I’ve seen all of his commercials but watching this makes me love him and his demeanor in coaching. What an absolute nugget. I will take a lot away from this and rewatch it a lot!
Perfection is the enemy of good! I like how Martin was trying to get this message across to Trottie who has a great swing but by the looks tends to over analyse to much, but understandable when you look how technical he has to be with club fitting but when it comes to the swing maybe a little more feel and less over thinking!! Martin's philosophy is basically step into the shot with full confidence and intent and accept the outcome good bad or indifferent and move on to the next shot, repeat, such a great way to approach the game. Great coach and teacher! Good video Trottie thanks for sharing.
I've watch you on other channels, Trottie, but this video earned you a sub... As an aside, I remember watching Martin and Paige play Crossy and Lockey a long time ago. That's when I started looking for more Martin Chuck content (and Paige, too 😉). Anyway, LOVED this video and looking forward to more! Cheers 🍻
@@trottiegolf wouldn’t it be great to have you on the tv golf broadcast comment on the golf ball launch and flight characteristics as they show shot tracer?!?! All part of the Augmented Reality side of things to come. That would be something!!!!
@@mariofonseca9267 totally agree and not for the lack of trying. Maybe one day as coverage of Pro Golf finds its feet again but until then we'll just keep building on here.
The interaction between you both is Gold. So many nuggets of info. 40:08 nailed it for me. I struggle with this also Trottie. As amateur golfers, I think our expectations of ourselves are too high. So the lesson is to have fun because everyone makes doubles here or there. Talk about a moment of reality. Good stuff.
Trottie, This was by far the best 43:08 minutes I have ever spent watching golf instruction. It was awesome to hear how players of your caliber think and process this game. Please keep them coming.
Definitely one of the best videos I've seen in a long time, I appreciated Trottie exposing his vulnerabilities and the simple (yet amazing) advice given by Martin. Definitely saved in the favorite folder.
Best Trottie Golf vid to date, will take a lot (LOT) of this and put to use in my own practice and play. Don't let perfection get in the way of a good swing, pre-shot routine and "I get to go hit it again".
we tend to focus too much on the nuances of the swing instead of practicing 6 foot putts too much over analysis which destroys your game. martin is awesome
The golf swing is confusing. Everyone tells me I have a great swing. After watching this I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing in my swing but just have trust and confidence when I've made up my mind on the club selection and the shot type and be ok with whatever the outcome is.
Thanks Trottie! Fantastic content! I wish this type of stuff was talked about more with golf! Everybody wants a magical shortcut to playing golf like a professional without putting in the hard work on ALL fronts (including the mental aspect). This all just reinforces how important it is to practice your skills, develop a pre-shot routine, have a strong mental game/attitude and how positive you carry on with your day/round/whatever even after hitting shots that didn't go where you intended.
This is a great video, I know the way you feel about trying to be perfect all the time, trying to teach myself to let it go and just play this mad game too mate, best video I’ve seen in a long time
What an awesome video. So cool to geek out on Golf the knowledge you have is freaking awesome. What a great watch. Trottie ….swing the club head play golf ..your swing is awesome
Martin is like - and I mean this in the best way possible - if a nice relaxing Indica edible were a person. I'd like him to come read me stories to fall asleep to before bed. Always appreciate Martin's technical and performance teachings on golf. Thanks for another interesting video Trottie!
@Kevin - that is a bit creepy. I would not like some dude reading me a bed time story. But what type of bed time story? Enjoy the game - I love watching Martin Chuck’s videos also. So much institutional golf knowledge.
🤣 I'm so glad Trottie admitted that he will regurgitate information too quickly.. I've never related to a statement more.. when you nerd out over shit you love, it happens haha - Awesome video as always.
Great video, great lesson for all of us. BTW, "Pressure is a privilege" is attributed to Billie Jean King. It's a plaque in the player's walk way at the US Open (Tennis).
It was hilarious to witness coach Chuck try and tell Trottie that he should stop fussing over his swing. There was some great advice there (even if Trottie wouldn't/couldn't be told) - no matter what our level, we are fortunate to be able to go out and play golf, so try and enjoy it; after all, there are more important things to stress over than a double on nine, as well as more important things to celebrate than the bounce-back birdie on ten ;)
Biggest lightbulb moment for me watching your videos the last couple months is I needed a grip change. This season it’s the thing I’m trying to keep consistent. Small steps in going from 13 to single digits. Keep up the great work!
Trottie, great to spend some time with you! Totally enjoyed it. Keep in touch.
Was the Texan who hits draws and practices hitting fades, Ben Crenshaw?
@@ABPerlov Mark Brooks and I was reversed. He hit fades most shots on course, so he practiced draws.

100% - isn't that what you want from a coach, I know it is what I need
I didn't know his location was so close to me, and coincidentally my sister plays there.
Was thinking the same exact thing. Almost catatonic in speech and approach.
Epic Trottie and Martin bless you both!🙏🙏🙏

Really enjoyed your time together
"Thiink about what a good coach does. They boost people up."
Pure gold!
my biggest takeaway was him essentially saying "your swing is fantastic, its all mental now"
