Thanks! I watched half of this this weekend and I’ve shot below my handicap my last three rounds following this technique for chips under 30 yards! A couple more rounds like this and I’m a single digit handicap 👍👍. Thanks
Trottie just likes to stand around and talk golf with people. He was happier talking short games through the years while name dropping over 50 people. I don't think he even ended up getting a lesson here. 😁
Feel vs real is so true. I was this way with bunker shots this summer. I was like 60% back foot 40% front, and that was awful. (cost me) finally got it right
Hey trottie, is the miss preference personal or is there something to it I’m overlooking? As a lefty that misses spinny short left, I hate that miss but it seems like it’s from bad tempo, throwing the hips fast which makes the shoulders go and throw the club out to in across it.
@ typically hit high face and heel side on a miss. I get impatient and fast at the top, fire hips which feels like it throws should out and only way to hit is swiping across. Really working on trying to hit a draw and slow down to combat this
@@Rickwynne get a club box and pop it outside of the ball. Sounds like you're a little steep. Drop back your trail foot and work the inside path. I like the bowler drill from Stack n Tilt guys, always seems to have success with that when I'm too out and lost centered strike.
I’m am equipment nerd and got fitted for the vokeys but I hated the feel on them so I tested the MG4s and I fell in love with the weight and feel of them. My driving is complete shit right now and the wedges save my score… anyways, the point I’m trying to make is, test all brands and base it off your feeling instead of the fitter. Fittings are great but wedges are all feel and confidence so make sure you get something you love the feel of.
@ flattening the lie angle on the wedges. I moved from a 62* PW and changed to a more upright iron set, now I feel less comfortable chipping around the green with the Pw. As a club fitter how do you feel about flattening the lie angle on wedges compared to the rest of the set?
@@ssubotai oh sorry, it was late when I read your initial comment. Yes I don't mind it. Only tend to see it with a few of the shorter height guys, more gradual with the standard and taller guys
Have you seen the Derek ball first stuff. Feel like that's very Joe Mayo. Here it is for reference: th-cam.com/video/2UUpEuQ0zvM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=glwKhDo9teTzL4PW
@@trottiegolf I loved your two vids with Derek Deminsky earlier this year. Thought that would have got you into a good spot. It really helped me separate my intention on every shot. I'm either bringing ball first intention. Similar to what you did in this vid. Or ground first intention (bunker, flop, rough family, arms and hands) I was a website member of Parkers for a few months too as FYI. Those two Derek videos really helped simplify some of the things I was debating. I feel you could do with embracing a wee bit more of the toe down/heel up approach on your bump and runs and play it out of the toe to reduce ball speed. Then you never worry about it sticking in the ground and never worry about it coming out too hot and then if you need to check it on a downslope just open the face a touch (obvs with neutral shaft, sternum just in front of ball/where you want your low point to be and stacked nicely as discussed in this vid. With so much relief on the toe of wedges now it would be rude not to use it 😜 I do like some of Dan's specialty shots. Like toe down cut across it aggressively when you are on a very bare lie and need height. But you need good foundations first as you need to bring a lot of speed and no shaft lean to that recovery shot. I bring my Derek ball first vibes to it and it works well when needed. I particularly like Parker's predictable flop ( narrow stance, closer to ball, heel up/toe down, face wide open, neutral shaft and then lots of hands but with a smooth Justin Thomas type length and rhythm vibe.) Much more reliable than the wide stance heel engages slice across it and chop a full divot out we were taught in the UK as kids growing up. Love the long form short game lessons. Never be concerned about them being too long. We would watch an hour long one. Iona had a long one with Dan which was great. The more you can get back to intention intention intention on every shot the more you'll be loving it and can get back to playing with the FREEDOM you had as a junior but this time having a better idea on how to create the shots. Too many in our age range I play with, play golf like scared rabbits.
@@tigertim9232 Great comment response, feedback and intel. The Derek stuff did help, I have had success with the ground first shot V the ball first BUT I think a lot of it is answered in this video in terms of structure and spine positioning (which you elude to). Totally agree on your closing comment about intention and being a Jr, we cover a little of that in the Dopestroke Podcast that we filmed yesterday (out next week). Bottom line. I'm coming to the conclusion that you need a variety of tools in your toolbox. Like Derek stuff I've seen huge signs of my old self early. More practice needed and avoidance of all scared rabbits. Thx for the encouragement on the longer form too, truth is I'm never totally sure what's the answer on that front but this particular vid could easily have been an hour. NOTE - there is a lot more to come.
Basically, the only way to chip & never have the yips again, is to chip like Jason Day ( use your big muscles NOT your hands & arms) you’ll never chunk / have the yips again ! 🙏👍
@@trottiegolf Parker references Jason Day and Lee Trevino in his teaching. Less wrist set, more rotation of the rib cage. The closer the clubhead is to you at the end of the backswing, the shi-tier a wedge player you are. 😀

So good to see someone just like us. Thank you Trottie! Another great video.
Trottie is the type of person that as soon as you meet him, becomes your mate.. Might not be reciprocal on his side but for you "Best mate ever".. 😂
🤣😂 I'm taking that as a compliment
Trottie seems to know when the audience is need of the right video showcasing the right topic at the right time during the right month

So i don’t think I learned anything about chipping from this video. Except grab my 7 iron I guess.
Looking to get some proper wedges instead of just using the PW that came with my irons.

skip to 8:22 that's when the video really starts

How about flattening the lie on the wedges Trottie?
weakening the loft? if you want to you can but what for? To hit a yardage or soften the flight?

Cut to the chase, get on a plane, visit Woburn and spend the day with Dan Grieve.
For real.. there’d be less talking more chipping!
Dan grieve is a fraud that’s marketing to the masses (choppers). Please post a photo of you England golf handicap?
