Its cool bro. Personally I think it sounds pretty good - I've owned a few HSVs and I think the 5L sounds really nice even compared to them - you wont regret spending a bit on the suspension to make it feel a bit better as well - not only in general but in the wet etc.
Sweet Vp brock. A full service will help. K&N air filter, pacemaker headers with hi flow cats. Love the sound of my Vt clubsport 5L with pacemakers, worth every cent. Replace the suspension with monroe shocks and king springs. 18 inch wheels are a much smoother ride and cheaper tyres than 20 inch.
Thanks man. Yeah it’s got extractors etc. Gotta be careful with K&N filters man, most of the time your supposed to use the air filter oil. Puts a film on all sensors and causes more damage than good. I know these don’t really have many sensors but still paper the way to go or a good cold air setup 👌🏽
@BrockHarper True if you add too much oil. I have a Mace cold air intake with K&N pod filter in an enclosed box with a clear top. 5L can breath much better than stock intake.
They're not real powerful but they will go all day. IT has VP front but VN tail lights and rear garnish. I haven't seen a VP Calais dash but it looks the same as my VN Calais except for the carbon wrap. IT may have blown the headlight relay under the bonnet. Cool ride mate
Nice rig lad, i had a 5ltr vr calais with a t5 put in it and the motor had a little bit of work done, the intake manifolds are a big let down on these motors, i pissed of the fuel injection and chucked a high rise manifold with a holley 650dp and it made a huge difference.
thanks man! yeah mint! was the manual conversion easy? as much as i want to just put an ls in it for easier power. I’m thinking maybe a worked 5L just cause it will be all original
@@BrockHarper nah it wasn't too hard, the hardest thing about it was gathering the parts needed to do the conversion but once you got everything you'll do it in a day. Yeah there not a bad motor a cam and heads package would wake it up nicely but if I was you I'd focus on swapping out the Auto and than looking into those holley 4 barrel efi throttle body's with a dual plane manifold to suit, you can still run your standard ecu without needing to get a tune so you could wait until you chuck a cam in it to bother with tuning it

@BrockHarper don't stroke it go with some flat tops to bump up compression a decent cam and injectors with a tune should see it getting 3rd gear powerskids, or the cheeky vortec on the stock engine will make it do pretty similar
@victorpeirce4753 it should with 10 to 1 compression some neat injectors and a cam+tune should do that. It would be more torque based but should definitely smoke 3rd with normal tyres. Your not wrong though I have seen diff gears wake stock 304's up especially 5 speeds

Bump up the compression if you ever put money into the engine it will make it a lot healthier
i was looking into stroker kits etc, just no bang for your $ in my opinion. I’ll be putting an ls in it before that 👌🏽

@BrockHarper if you really want to ls swap a 6.0 and the 6l80 will last a long time if not a 5.7 and a semi built 4l60 or 6 speed would be tough
