- → We're back to RV living in our Thor Tellaro Class B RV, aptly named Mr. Lemon, and we are on a mission to leave the West Coast and experience RV boondocking out East, so we're doing a massive cross-country RV trip to get there! We're doing 1,000+ miles in only TWO travel days after traveling 2000+ miles the previous 4 days! And after multiple 10+ hour-long travel days, we don't think we want to travel that fast again! When were rookie retirees, we learned all about the 2-2-2 rule that we generally follow when traveling in our RV. Drive for 200 miles, get there by 2PM for early cocktail hour, and stay for 2 days.
Must be nice being retired 😂 Seriously though, this is great advice if you have the time!
I love this idea!!
Love that rule.
I'm sure since I'm retired I'll be able to do whatever I desire. When I get my ride, I'll share what I do maybe. Lol. Just wanted to say, Hillary and Both are my inspirerers. I just can't wait to be on the road taking the same hwys to lots of destination places 😂😅😊❤ you both deserve a super rest after that achievement!!!!🎉😊
You know what they say about Fall in Phoenix: instead of the leaves changing colors, the license plates do 😅
😂😂😂 that is so true!
❤Same in FL!! When the car carrier semitrailers start showing up you know the snowbirds are coming!!❤😂Feel your pain!!❤
Not just any lighthouse!! The Portland Head Light!! On our list of places to visit. We love lighthouses ❤❤❤️
Happy anniversary!
Poor Bob, he looks so tired. You guys will probably rethink these long timed trips. Bet you look forward to a slower paced return trip. Be careful but enjoy😊
Bob! Let’s hold hands!! ❤
Your excitement is absolutely contagious Hillary! Y’all were about 10 minutes from us in Pennsylvania!! We usually travel (with travel trailer) between 400 - 600 miles a day when we are bee lining it. Our last trip my Psoas gave me H E double inflammation hockey sticks for sitting so much. First time I’ve hurt myself from sitting. My last injury came from sleeping wrong. 😂😂 Aging pokes ya funny when you least expect it, I guess. Stop and move/stretch as often as you can.
The way Hillary looks to Bob to see if she is saying the states' names right is so precious!!! Haha I love you guys ❤️
Hahahaha! It’s so true!!!! 😂
OMGosh what a wonderful trip! Thank you for sharing! 🙏👊👍
You are so welcome! 😊
You can't breathe in when eating a powdered sugar donut! I love them, but always end up coughing. It looks pretty there on the eastern part of our country. Safe travels to you both!❤❤
Great way to celebrate! I wish I could get the time off for such an adventure! You guys rock!
Beautiful lighthouse! Y'all are great! Happy Anniversary! We just had ours, too (43). Hope yours was wonderful!❤🙏🎉Jane
We had a wonderful anniversary! 43 years! That's amazing! 🙏
I went to West Virginia for the first time when I came around the east from Oregon to Phoenix. I've lived in Virginia before, but W Virginia was so much like that - woodsy, wind-y, and beautiful!
There's a fantastic Heritage live museum in Huntington, WV if you go back that way 😉
I've been wondering about your trip 🤔
Glad to see you!
We’ll get ready because this is going to be a 7 video series!
My wife and I just did a road trip from New Jersey to Washington state, stayed for 15 days and drove back. In our new Chevy Trax. My wife drove for a total of one hour and I did the rest. We live in a beautiful country, great sights to see.
You should see some beautiful scenery going through Northeastern United States. It’s truly beautiful this time of year.
Enjoy your time here ❤❤❤
Next time we do it hopefully it will be in a van
Wonderful trip guys. It’s in our to do list too. Shout out to sister Jen! Love the commentary from Hillary on the road signs. Oh, and Hillary….uncle Randy says “wear your seatbelt correctly, including the shoulder harness.” It will save your life. lol. Peace out!
Thank you so much! I didn’t even notice my shoulder strap wasn’t on my shoulder until you said this. Will do!
Wow, what a great episode. We are from Australia. We did an 8 week road trip in 2022 from LA to New York in a Chrysler Pacifica. We took the long way. We travelled 14,800 kilometres (over 9,000 miles) through more than 25 US states and 3 Canadian provenances. Yes! We loved Tim Hortons. We came down from Ontario through the Thousand Island area and into New York state. We then headed east until we arrived at Bar Harbor. The was THE best candy and ice cream shop there I have ever seen. I told my wife that when I die, I want my ashes bought here.......
I loved seeing the other bridges as you crossed from New Hampshire to Maine. I drove around and checked out that concrete lift span bridge. It raises above road level to let a ship pass under or lowers below road level to let a train trvel across the river. I just love seeing engineering in all sorts of countries and on all sorts of levels, like irrigation on rice terraces in Asia.
We bought a jug of New Hampshire maple syrup. We still have some in the freezer. It will never freeze.
We travelled down through Boston and then stayed 5 days in the Cape Cod area. We then stayed a few days in Middletown, NY, before a few days in the Big Apple herself before flying back home. Thanks for the memories!!
❤❤love the 2-2-2 rule. But as a lifelong night shift worker I absolutely prefer driving during the nighttime hours!!❤ Just let me sleep from 9-5pm!🙏❤️
Happy Anniversary!!!!! Wow what a wonderful trip, Have a great time. Can't wait to see the next video
Thank you! We are having the best time!
I was waiting for your video to come out! We took our van and kids from NH to the Pacific Ocean this summer - driving can be brutal! Enjoy Maine! Hopefully you can make it thorough the White Mountain National Forest too!
3:24 be careful parking like that (with your garage over the grassy area) at Cracker Barrel. We parked like that the first time we stayed at Cracker Barrel and had to move a few hours later when the sprinklers came on lol . . . The underbelly of our van was getting a good cleaning
My friends call me the mid coast of Maine, Chamber of Commerce. The area your about to travel is wonderful. So much to do and see. This time of year offers a slower pace with fewer tourists. The opportunities to have harbors points vista and beaches with very few crowds is sooo great. Hope you enjoy.
It's good you had check the fluids. Our coolant was low on one of our trips. I filled it up. To keep an eye on it. I highly recommend you carry some coolant in your van.
I love riding along with you on this trip! It’s definitely on our bucket list to drive cross country to the east coast. We have family in Maryland who used to live in Virginia. Love Virginia and Pennsylvania but Maryland, well not so much. Durn Mr. Lemon 🍋 😢! Time to make more lemonade in Maine!
Friggen hell. Friggen awsome. This comment could be to late but Big chicken barn Ellsworth Maine, Mount Washington New Hampshire. The smiles on your faces is worth all the years. Bob you rock Hillary you rocket.
Awwww thanks!!! We love all the ideas!!!
Always wanted to travel across the states, so fun!
Love you both, stay safe and enjoy the ride. We just did the same trip in September…beautiful
Thank you! So cool you got to do it in September! ❤️
I know exactly what you’re going through. My wife and I drove the exact same route with our 22 year-old class a motorhome which is 40 feet long and that that wind was just wiping us around and I have stabilizer sumo Springs rear track bar everything you can think of, you can’t win over mother nature
You totally get it! WOW!
It's time to upgrade your rear sway bar. Helwig, or Roadmaster bars are an awesome upgrade for any van and RV. It will eliminate almost all of your sway caused by wind and or semis.
:) WOW ! THANKS MUCH for sharing ! OMG at Tim's coffee and donut! :) BETTER than StewBux for sure ! Safe travels and I guess I am spoiled as the trees are turning here in Upper Left PNWest, so I don;t have to travel, BUT is getting CHILLY! ALL the BEST and ENJOY! ! ! Cheers : )
We agree! Tim's is the BEST!
Haha welcome to East Coast roads. Winding, narrow, hilly in the piedmont and full of pot holes in the winter. Gotta love the original coast.
You’re totally right! We definitely learned that the hard way!
You two are CRAZY! 😂 First the powdered donut cracked us up. The long days of driving are insane! Having to work really S***ks (Stinks). It’s a shame you had to rush thru all those beautiful states. We have been Fulltimers for many years and have visited every state. We have been fortunate to be able to take our time driving. Last year we purchased our first van (Travato) and use it for short trips we love it for this stage of our life. Hope your next destination is the Pacific NW. Enjoy the rest of your trip and Happy Anniversary. Cathy & Deb
We hear you on the rush! We're looking forward to a slower pace on the next adventure! 😊
1:26 I'm glad to hear I didn't miss anything 😊
Nope!😃
So fun!!! I just drove the Blue Ridge Mountains last week in our Camper Van, beautiful time of year to do so. Love your videos, have fun and congrats on your wedding anniversary. Fun Facts: my wife and I also just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary too and AZ is one of our favorite places to visit!
The Blue Ridge Mountains are gorgeous in the fall. That awesome you got to drive through in your camper van. Congratulations on 25 years too!
Wife and I just did an Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin week long loop. The fall colors and weather were amazing. One of our favorite trips in our Thor Sequence yet. Maine should be beautiful! Have fun! Hopefully the van isn’t turning into a mr lemon. Our second alternator started to smell like burnt electric when the battery disconnected was on and the engine running. Luckily we could turn the disconnect off while driving and were ok. Vans at General RV now. Fingers crossed it’s a quick fix.
Oh NO! I hope the alternator fix is easy and quick for you guys!
TN is wide- and the western route through VA is even longer!! But I-81 is lovely!!
You are making me homesick. Fall is the best!!
It's the best time of year for sure!
Your videos are entertaining and filled with joy, humor and real life😊
Aww thanks! We’re glad you’re enjoying our journey!
Awesome trip! At least Mr lemon waited for you to arrive before his surprise! Not another leak? You guys passed the Mathers? Can’t wait on the next videos!
Right?!?! Agree! At least he made it to Maine 😂 we plan on seeing the Mathers on the way back down.
Great trip…..Happy Anniversary🎉🥳
Thank you! We had a blast!
Couldn't wait for the next video okay okay let me get back to watching.
Hey guys 😊
Sweet!!!!!! You’re awesome!
It's so pretty with the fall colors!
❤️❤️🍁
happy anniversary💖
Thank you! ❤️
Hello from Virginia. Happy trails moving foward. If you can take time and enjoy the ride. Make it a happy memory trip. Not stressful. Which I will be telling my husband when we start traveling. Or he will be left at a bus stop. 😅
Bob with that donut was hilarious 😂 I
😂😂😂
I love the NE in the fall. So beautiful! Enjoy!
It really is beautiful! Best place we’ve ever been for fall. 🍁
I do these road trips all the time in my 2020 59G Winnebago Travato. By myself. It seems I always have to be somewhere for a scheduled art event. I need to work on scheduling more time to get there! Listening to books is what saves me!! Thanks for sharing your journeys!
That powdered sugar is a killer 😀
Oh yeah! It was a little much! 😂
Great looking trip. We bought an 05 Airstream Interstate 3 years ago, had it about 2 months and drove it 2500 miles from West Virginia to California to visit our son. We did that in 3 days. The wind in Oklahoma was so severe that we had to stop for about 3 and wait it out.
We've been to that light house. Maine is beautiful but, we really enjoy the desserts out west.
Be safe.
Happy anniversary 🎉 belated
Thank you!😊
You all drove through my neck of the woods when you crossed over from Tennessee into Virginia on I81 going north. ❤ Bristol is a neat little town and is the birthplace of country music.
Welcome to Maine !!!! It is one of the best places to live. I travel from Maine to Oro Valley, AZ each winter. It is about 32 hours of driving. I do 12 hours the first day then 10 hours the next two days. There is so much to see here in Maine but I know you don’t have too much time to spend. Maybe when you retire.
We fell in love with Maine!!!!!
Hey guys; greetings from Sabattus, Maine!! If you're still Maine, or decide to come back, the Western Mountains of Maine (Bethel/Rangeley/Greenville areas) offer a whole different experience than the Maine coast. The foliage is usually stunning in those areas. Also a great recreation area. The adjacent area in New Hampshire is the White Mountains area. Also a great place to visit.
OMG. My husband and I did our 25th wedding anniversary to Maine as well. Back in 2022.
Maine is amazing! We're so glad you got to celebrate your anniversary there. Best place!
Congrat's on your anniversary trip!!! =-)
Thank you! We are having a blast!
I’ve been to that lighthouse before😁
So fun!
A couple of weeks earlier and you could have done the Hershey RV Show. 😁
I know 😭😭😭
Bob, you are a machine!
Thanks!
It’s only non-potable water because it’s so close to a sewer connection. Most times you you’ll see a faucet about 20 feet away. It’s the same water in the vet the dump station uses. It’s just not that close to the dump station.
Makes sense
Dont miss downtown Portland Main ride the Ferry Also eat lobster at the Porthole great place
Awesome recommendation, we'll add it to the list!
I80 in Wyoming (where my sister lives) gets SOOOO windy and you have to hold tight to that steering wheel! Some gusts are hair raising and startling!
Hi guys, just wondering if you have winterized Mr. Lemon, just in case you get below freezing temperatures for extended periods? Seems like you already get enough grief from your van without having to deal with broken plumbing due to a freeze up.
We stopped doing those really long driving days. Kind of wrecks the adventure when the only thing you do is sit in the van. However, we're retired so our schedules are full of free time and that makes a difference.
And we Canadians love our Tim Hortons
Well we might get to try Tim Hortons is Canada 😳 Stay tuned!
Yah! You were in Knoxville! My hometown!
Yay!
We just finished a 27 day fall trip.
🥳🥳🥳
Those Girl Scout thin mint balls are to die for. But I can't find them in Costco anymore.
Right! We can’t either.
Y'all need to enjoy the journey more.
Oh this is the best trip of our lives. We just wanted to get to the east coast in time to fully enjoy fall. 😃
Bob coughing was funny
You got to fill out more states on your "RV map"! If you have the opportunity, Acadia National Park (in Maine) is spectacular. Have fun!
Concerning being blown around by the wind: you might consider upgrading your shock absorbers to the German Bilstein shocks. These made a tremendous difference on my high top camper van. They run around $100 or more a piece , depending on your van series.
Also, consider upgrading the front sway bar with an after market stiffer one. The company IPD makes sway bars for all manner of vehicles, including RAM vans. Again, I installed these on my camper van, and my previous 28 foot motorhome, and they made a dramatic difference in handling.
BTW: my longest trip was when I moved from Chicago to Portland, Oregon, a distance of 2260 miles. I left Chicago at 5 PM Friday and arrived at my new home on Sunday evening at 7 PM.- 50 hours. This included a brief motel stay in Salt Lake. The auto transport company wanted $2500 to ship my van. For that, I would rather drive it.
When you park over night at Walmart or Cracker Barrel do you need to ask permission from the store manager?
We do at Cracker Barrel’s usually. Not Walmart. We just made sure there is no signs that say no overnight parking.
I laughed like hell as the sugar donut took Bob down. BTW isn’t playing leap frog with the 18 wheelers in the PA hills fun…not.
This week= "Mr Lemon: A New Hope"
Next Week = " Mr Lemon Strikes Back"
Bahahaha!
Stay safe
Thanks!😊
Before you leave Maine, set your GPS for Nubble Lighthouse Kittery Maine. It will be on your way out of Maine. You won’t regret it.
Thanks for the tip! That sounds like an awesome spot to check out!
Wow what an amazing trip! Oh no… water leak .. Mr Lemon, don’t do it
Thank you! It has been! Mr. Lemon better get his act together 😂
"Welcome to Connecticut. It's kind of underwhelming." 😆
LOL! Only the sign was underwhelming 😂😂😂
@@Vancaskeys 😁🤭
I drove Phoenix to Bend in 2 days in my 1996 e350.
Wow that's impressive!
@@Vancaskeys 460 big block humming down the road
Wish I had known you were in Roanoke.
Happy Anniversary. We are Planning road trip in our 24 Tellaro either 25 or 26. We have old dog (13 year old German Shorthair) that we love and are not putting down to travel. We want to do a slow trip from Southern California. We want travel south (in spring) and go up east coast to Maine and spend a month or 2 in summer than travel northern states to Washington state and Oregon. Like a 6 month trip in our travel van. We fall/leaf 2022 tripped and went Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, New York City . Combo flight, drive, Amtrak in 2022 and spent almost 3 weeks. Not enough time and expensive travel with flights, rental car Amtrek and hotels. We think we could van travel for 3 months on what we spent in 3 weeks. So many more I want to explore. I have new channel and hope to document and share. Like I say when my good girl goes to heaven on her terms
I describe CT as the state between New York and Boston. It barely has an identity. Aside from a high cost of living. So it only makes sense that driving through it was underwhelming.
😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
😊😊😊
Next week's episode...'Mr Lemon's Revenge'.
😂😂😂
Please make a stop at Jones Lobster Company located on rt1A between Bangor and Bar Harbor for fresh 1.5 lb lobster for under $8. And don’t forget to check out Stephen King house in Bangor
19:39 You failed to say "Live Free or Die" as you entered NH.
Next time you can get a toll fast pass for those states!
Great idea!
First comment !!!! Woot woot!
Woot! Woot!!!! You rock!
Should have stopped in NH to stock up. No taxes
OK, please do not take offense :) I thought it was very cute how you didn't know how pronounce the states names correctly.... so I thought, hmmm, maybe you are not from the States. Then I thought "Oh! I bet she must be from Canada!". But then I remembered the earlier part about you trying Tim Horton's for the FIRST TIME. So there's no way you are Canadian. So now I am just confused lol.
Haha! I’m from California. Maybe that explains it 😂 I’ve never been to those states and all of a sudden was insecure about pronouncing them correcting. It’s New Hampshire and Massachusetts that trip me up 😂
I spent a week camped/parked in Hells Kitchen during the summer. Just watch the posted signs
All the toll roads in the North East. Sheesh
Its crazy how many there are. We had no idea.
What are you listening to to fight the road boredom? It’s a lot of miles/hours!!
Could this be Mister Lemon's last ride?
Haha! He better get his act together or maybe it will be.
I’ve done some research recently in New York New York looks like a very bad place to go to right now. With the elections and the immigration issues. Just wanted to give you a heads up
Pointless to run through states and then talk about how you visited them. You really didn’t see anything.
