    Nice to know. I have the DF83 with the SSP HU burrs. It makes a great, traditional-style espresso.

      Thx for sharing your experience. I sold my 83mm HU and bought MP and Cast. Cast are my favourite right now.

    9 months with my DF83v1, great grinder, stock, easy to dial in and nice clear cups (I did remove the declumper and use WDT)
    I'm recommending a friend the DF64gen2 because of his budget for entry level espresso, so might be able to play with it later this year.

      Thx for sharing and I absolutely agree. Are you planning to get any fancy burrs for DF83 in the future?
      I might get a chance to test DF64 gen 2 as well. Should be interesting.

      @@mycoffeeshow111 Honestly no, my limiting factor now is the espresso machine, Rancilio silvia, so I will be modifying it with PID and dimmer flow control. Will save some money to buy Decent espresso machine in the future, THEN I will come back to the grinder.
      Will look forward to your experiences with DF64 Gen2 (given the chance)

    Very nice video, as always!
    A few questions/comments:
    1. Now a "DF64 gen 2" has come out, which is apparently like a smaller DF83v2.
    2. Do you realign every time you swap the burrs for a test?
    3. Are you really grinding on setting 3, out of the ~30 ticks on the "espresso" part of the dial, with 0 being the burr-touching point? That seems extremely fine to me, I haven't yet had to grind anything at less than 10 (in my admittedly still short adventure with DF83v2; btw I have the stock burrs, that might affect things)

      Thank you for watching. I would love to try this new DF64 - I am sure it is better than mine.
      I do check the alignment each time I swap the burrs but I try not to be too obsessed with 100% alignment.
      I set 0 point about 0.5cm above the real touching point.
      Normally I grind at 5-7 but this coffee was running too fast. It has been in the freezer for many months- maybe that is why.

    Hello Jack. Interesting stuff and very informative. So I got my DF83 with HU because the expressos from my DF64 MP had some/all of the issues you described. Did I get better expresso? yes. For pour over, I have compared the two grinders a few times also using the ember cups that control the temperature. I think it is probably a matter of preference which grinder you would choose for pour over. I may slightly prefer the DF64. I often use April dripper too. But my grind settings are around 65 for DF83HU and I get shots around 4min. If I push to 5 min then many of the flavors are gone. I use a 2min bloom and then I poor the rest of the water in an about 1 min slowly. This a modified Lance Hedrick technique. Regardless isn't 5 min too much for the April? I also think Brian Quan has 2 min pours using the April. Also the April guys favor fast pour overs. :) Overall, my current thinking is that it doesn't make that much sense owning the two and I would also go with DF83.

      You are right, I have to improve my April technique. So many viewers mentioned how good it can be but each time I brew with it, it takes forever to drain.

    You should judge them based in your overall experience maybe not on the one or two shots but interesting the HU does very well with flavour separation i think you do have more potential for more depth with larger burrs. If you do more testing and comparing is it going to mostly come out that way where you prefer the ssp hu in 83, it sounded like you thought you generally prefer the 64mm MP but maybe more side by side testing is needed?

      @Hemshemsems 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd like to see a video on your points on dialing in pour overs - i have more trial and errors than you. And you call out mostly more simple terms of either sour/sweet or bitter and mix of these - others can pinpoint almost all fruit f.ex a coffee has and i can't for the life of me extract anything close to a specific fruit mentioned. Can you hit specific or is it still just a hint of smth related to fruit/chocolate/karamel and so on. I feel much of it is more pretentious, as a lot of other things because speciality coffee is so expensive and few ppl have the money or time to get to these levels anyway.

    • @mycoffeeshow111
      @mycoffeeshow111  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Hemshemsems flavour notes on the bag are mostly just a guidance . If you are aiming for some interesting notes you need special coffee. For me anaerobic natural coffee works the best and yes you can (sometimes) get very intense fruity aroma. My recipe, 15g in 250g of water divided into 5 even pours in around 3-3.30min works the best but sometimes I do a pour over and it tastes awesome so I do another one, exactly the same and it might taste significantly different. Not sure why.

    • @Hemshemsems
      @Hemshemsems 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mycoffeeshow111 Well special coffee seems to me also to be a very elusive game. I have had some very tasty cups - but most have been meh. Why i try different technics and recipes too. As of now in using the Hario switch myself. Tried a natural once and even the odour of the coffee turns me off and not into anything slightly fermented. Eventho i like a lot of fermented food - in relation to coffee im not into it. Also it's like a passion for something - i like HiFi and eventho i don't have golden ears, i can hear the tonal differences and these are sometimes expensive to get, but prices are also related to limited runs and some gear are targeted ppl that have fu money and it being too cheap turns them off..

    I think you confirm what I did not like from my DF64P I had a lot of trouble dialing in the light roast and controlling the flow on the decent. I even up dose to 22g and still was running super fast :) anyway basically had to go down to 3 or 5 to get a nice shot.

      Sometimes I have no problem with finding the right settings and even if the shot is too fast or too slow I still drink it. When I record videos though , I have to be more precise and try to dial in all shots to within 2sec of each other. With that particular coffee it was a struggled.
