Great video, thanks for all of the helpful information and tips/tricks, appreciate it and I'll be changing my oil in my '16 Z06 today and happy motoring! Great when fellow Corvette owners are helping others! Thanks again, Brian
Doing my C7 ZO6 oil change next week but on a lift, but next change I will do it this way or use my rhino ramps. Great Job and great video!!! ZO6 definitely fun SUPERCAR!!!
If something goes wrong…it’s catastrophic. Pay the dealer. $130ish vs the time, risk, etc. Plus, the techs can see things you can’t in your garage. I’ve done it but, we can afford it. (I appreciate the video, thumbs up subscribed)
The dealer where I live couldn’t fix my oil pan leak right the first time and the second time they forgot to screw the oil cap back in the FREAKING engine.
Soon I will be changing the oil in my Z06. I just don't want the dealer touching my car. I will however be purchasing a set of QuickJacks to safely do the job.
He was actually supposed to but didn't. When you first fire up the engine it will now run for about 2-3 seconds with no oil flow. ALWAYS pre-fill the filter
No expert but I believe it is for racing applications. The dry sump system and large amount of oil helps prevent the engine from starving itself of oil during high speed turns.
That is not how you jack up a corvette. I can't believe you have not damaged that thing. You need the frame pucks to lift a vette on jacks or you could crack your frame.
He used the wrong oil. Z06 takes 0-40 esp. it isn’t sold in 5 qt jugs. You can clearly see the 5 qt Walmart jug is missing the big green esp formula logo across it. Epic fail!

Of course!! Good luck!
COMMENT ANY QUESTIONS BELOW!
It might not make a difference because of the dry sump.. but its always a good idea to fill the new oil filter with oil before screwing it in.

Do both drain plugs have rubber gaskets?
I just changed an oil change on my 2017 Grand Sport yesterday. I bought a QuickJack lift and it works perfect

I did my z06 in 25 minutes
you do things pretty dangerous.

Sounds good!
good for you, the dealer overcharges and you can never be sure if they used the right oil. I never trust those fuckers.
@@plrx760 🤣
are there other places to put the jack stand?
link to purchase your jack and oil?
sure one second...
Links to buy your jack stands? the towel is to prevent slipping right.
Very useful. This works for z51s too since they have the dry sump right?
glad you liked it. and yes exactly right!
I may have missed but why four jacks and not just use ramps?
Corvettes are too low for ramps.
Which jack is that?
Can you pre-fill the oil filter or is it mounted horizontal?
He was actually supposed to but didn't. When you first fire up the engine it will now run for about 2-3 seconds with no oil flow. ALWAYS pre-fill the filter
How often do you change your oil?
Always obstacles we never predict lol
Why are there 2 drain plugs?
just how they made it.
The vehicle sits too low to have a regular size oil pan so there is a reservoir sump. one plug to drain the pan one to drain the sump
Its a dry sump oil system. Google it

One is for the dry-Sump tank , the other one is for the oil pan
The hatches are supposed to be opened or the frame will bend when you jack it up
Get a se of ramps and easily to access, but jack car off ground so not needed.
just changed the oil in my truck today lol
nice man
Driving a Z06 is Cool but the black socks in shorts is not!
Grease the rear inner toe links's while you have it jacked up
I thought the Z06 used 0W-40?
John Severs , I believe the newer models 2018-2019 use the 0W40

Front needs to be lower than the rear
You use motorcraft oil filter i would use mobile 1 or purulator boss
Nope...its a AC Delco because...you know...its a GM product NOT A FORD
Would have been nice have had a portable lift.
Make sure to pop the hood, trunk, and open doors while car is on the stands, to prevent body stress
Where my squad at?
my bro. good job! share it.
funny how he’s showing us how to do an oil change, but didn’t show, those who may not know, where he filled the oil. lmao

It's says right on the cap fill 5w-30 lol 😆
@@jeremykvigil1 it’s clear you don’t own C7z. They changed the oil used after some motor issues. Do your research dipshit
They didn’t start using 0W-40 until 2019, that’s the only year of c7 to use that oil. You’re partly right, but this is a 2018 and uses 5W-30 or 15W-50
#InstaFam ✌️
thank you man!
What's up
hey man
Why not just take it to the dealership? Looks very dangerous.
Definitely not worth the hassle and danger involved. Take the car, oil & filter, and $20.00 to your dealer
