    Maintenance made easy for the C7 Corvette. What do you guys think of the oil funnel? Pretty cool, right? Front drain won’t drain completely unless the car is level. Quick jacks or a lift will solve that issue. Race ramps are great, I have many different sets, but not for this specific oil change.

    Great job, but can I make two suggestions, I personally always fill my oil filter before installing it( I like instant oil pressure) and after watching many oil filter tests I use the Purolator Boss PBL-11403 (it did the best job cleaning the oil and had very low restriction of flow at cold and operating temp!)

    to keep the sulfur off the in tank fuel pump techron plus is a must according to GM expert. Also keeping your fuel tank low on a regular bases over heats the pump causing premature failure. Thanks for your time.

    If you ever use a different brand of fuel system cleaner, be careful not to get the neck of the bottle stuck in the cap-less fuel filler area - I almost did. I didn't intend to, but I didn't have a funnel with me and I pushed the tip of the bottle in just enough to open the outer plastic door and... it got stuck! I was able to get it out but it was a bit of a surprise. Also, I just bought an oil catch can for my Z51 - not an issue for your ZR-1, but probably still a good thing for the other models.

    • @HorsePowerObsessed
      @HorsePowerObsessed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can but honestly I haven’t seen any reason to do it for sure. It’s usually a preference thing. There are a lot of cars out there that have the oil filters mounted sideways on the engine block and pre-filling those ones is not an option at all so it’s not something you have to do in my opinion

  • @markwest9447
    @markwest9447 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Might be a Good / Great idea to change out the Oil Plugs to MAGNETIC Oil plugs. They are usually 13 mm in size. The Techtron is available in Chevron or Texaco gasoline. However it is a complete waste of time if you have a Direct Injection Engine...

    • @HorsePowerObsessed
      @HorsePowerObsessed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a total waste. Like I said GM recommends this for cleaning the fuel sending unit. In my case with the ZR1 I have direct injection and port injection so it still works for me. I may change out the oil plugs in the future but the majority of the parts in the engine are aluminum anyway.

      Amsoil is not as readily available and it's not something that GM specifically calls for. That probably doesn't really matter but it sticks in my head. If GM calls for it there's probably a reason and I'm not going to pretend I'm smarter than a GM engineer. As far as the cabin air filter I've always had really good luck with the febreze air filters so I just stick with what I knew as far as that goes. I may try the k&n in the future though.

      Not the best but not terrible either. I've had as high as 25mpg but average is around 15 to 16.
