You are supposed to check the oil temp not the coolant temp and the oil needs to be checked at 10 minutes not 15. Good video. FYI I alway completely fill the oil filter before installing.
great clip, great angles Adam. I have changed to recommended m1 supercar 0-40 as now recommended I use a hockey puck for lifting. There is a clip why the AC delco is best for filters because of the correct / best "blowby pressure relief" PF 64
Hi, at the end of the video I show how to check that,. On a Z06, you need to let the car warm up. Then when you check it, there's two dot markings on the dipstick that indicate when it's within the full range. Hope that helps
After adding the oil....About 9.7 quarts Start and let the engine idol untill the oil temperature gets to 175 degrees. Shut it off and wait 5 minutes then check your oil level on the dipstick.
One good thing to do on those engines, since the oil filter is mounted vertically fill the oil filter with oil before you put it on. It helps get oil to your engine faster after you start the car.
Next oil change you should swap to 0w-40 oil. 2018-2019 C7’s GM swapped to the 0w-40. It’s a better all around weight for street and drag use. They even posted a bulletin on the topic. I believe that’s all the dealer has for oil is the 0-40 when you go in for a oil change. I run Driven DI40 oil. It’s formulated for the direct injection these engines have.
Thank you! And yes, looking at Mobil 1's website, they are now showing a "Supercar" version that they now recommend. I didn't see that at Walmart when I purchased this.... so, will get that for next time in the 0-40W
You must remove both drain plugs for complete oil drain. As not to overfill. You MUST NEVER put vehicle weight on control arms. Can damage bushings. Check manual as not to steer other wrong.😮
Hi, thank you @cando79. Thanks for the tips. Though if you watch the video, both plugs are pulled and the jackstands are placed on the crossmember, not control arms. Thanks!
Thanks Adam, very helpful video!
Thank you!

Great video
Hi! Thank you! Greatly appreciate that.

Oh yes. Great suggestion here. Thanks for sharing!!
You’re welcome. I wish they mounted the oil filter like this on all engines!

Thank you for the tip!! Much appreciated!
Dealer hit me for $250 last oil change
@@mnoell35 holy moly!!!
Change those drain bolt seals. I do it every time. They are only about a dollar a piece.
this wasnt horrible to watch, good job, make more
Ha!! Thanks… will do
There are torque specs for oil filters.
Nicely done! Great angles of the video. I agree with bear99550, switch over to 0w-40. It covers a wider range of use.

The grand sport takes the same as well
Wow! Did not realize that. Thanks for the info!

but the 1 percent though..........
Ha!! I don’t know what that means. 😂
I think it means Tha little bit of oil you dint get out since you've jacked it up and won't drain all the way
