"You're Deceived By Satan" | Ex Christian Responds

  • Have you ever been told that your unbelief in god is due to satan's grip on your life? Christians often tell me I'm deceived by the enemy, and that they are praying for me to gain understanding before it's too late.
But is being deceived a moral shortcoming? Is it a crime to be tricked into believing something that isn't true? In this video I'll unpack the common accusation thrown at ex-christians and unbelievers and make the case for why I don't think god-if he exists- would ever punish you for being deceived.
Please keep in mind that all everything I say here is my subjective opinion, and is intended to deconstruct fundamentalist/evangelical/conservative Christian ideologies from an ex christian perspective

@RobKoch1962 Contrary to your belief, Christianity is not just a bunch of fairytales. The Bible is historical truths written down as well as well as eyewitness accounts of Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection. It’s a proven fact Jesus died on the cross and rose again. Don’t go around saying there’s no evidence of Christianity when you haven’t even researched.

@Jay-oj4hj Your religion's explanation for satan doesn't make any sense and certainly doesn't absolve your god of complete responsibility for satan and every human destined for hell. Your god is supposed to be all-knowing. If it is all-knowing then it already knew for a fact what would happen to satan before it made him. Yet god did it anyway. Very evil god if you believe christian religious doctrine.

Their were two trees the tree of knowledge and the tree of life.
The tree of no wedge was forbidden as we were a new creation like children.
Same way you protect your children from certain knowledge that’s too heavy for them. You aren’t depriving them but protecting their innocence.
When we became aware of evil and good without understanding it’s consequences we couldn’t eat from the tree of life and have eternal life without learning why good is good and evil is evil.
Can you imagine humans living forever in this fallen stage. It’s a mess with the short life span we have anyway.

Don't be deceived -- all over again-- and in so doing follow in the footsteps of Eve ....
A curse was put upon eve on account of her disobedience. Don't imagine for a second that deception and rebellion are not intertwined-- for they most certainly are intertwined.
You see, you're a victim of deception right now -- thinking you will not stand before the judgment seat of Christ-- which you will.
God holds you accountable for that (even though you're deceived).
You do not love the knowledge of the truth. That is your main problem.

Great job, I’ve been a non believer for a while now and I understand that people will look down upon you because they truly believe you are being deceived by Satan. I never knew how to take that, but I stuck with my intuition and stopped myself from ever believing I was actually being deceived. That would be a terrible mix for certain individuals who still have a huge fear towards Satan. It’s honestly a traumatic tactic to get a person to stick with the opposing sides faith. I’m confident and feel free in what I believe in & I accept that I don’t know what the real truth of this crazy life we have is. If the future's not determined, then it's not something that could logically be known. If there was a god that knew everything that was, is, and could be, then despite not knowing exactly what will be, I'd consider it reasonable to call that "all knowing". Parents who really love their children will punish only when the kid has done something like stealing lying etc and they will forgive them in time also once there kids are adults a good parent will let them be free to live their own lives and make their own choices instead of control ing them forever. Not throw them in a dark basement starve whip and torture them for the rest of their lives also God did create sin Isaiah 45:7 from King james I form the light and create darkness. I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things. Don't try to justify what God has done with he works in ways beyond our understanding and we should not question him. If he was half as wise as he claims he is then would be able to help humanity understand all of his decisions in a way their minds can understand. When someone tells you not to ask questions it's because they don't have answers. Don't tell me God created us he can do with us as he please because by this logic Parents should be allowed to beat and rape their children since they brought them into this world and put a roof over the heads and if their kids don't want them they are ungrateful and deserve any punishment the Parent does them. I honestly love all your videos. I've been following you on tiktok for a year now, and basically everything you say summarize what took me 7 years of christian deconstruction.
I've always been a very logical person, but when it came to religion, I was blinded by a cognitive dissonance created because of what I thought it was logical and what I was taught to believe since I was a little kid raised in a catholic and later on, a Seventh Day Adventist family.
At the age of 12 (when I start to realize I was gay) I started to have a lot of internal conflicts including desires of k***ing myself, just because I felt that god would never accepted me. Tried to change many times, neglecting my sexuality, fasting (as the bible says), Christian camp, reading more the bible, praying on my knees for hours, crying myself to sleep, just because I wanted for him to change me.
After 7 years of that, I realize that "free will" has never been a thing to begin with. How is it free will, when god in the bible has intervened physically in a person's life (like Adam and Eve that you just mentioned, or Job, or Jonah, Abraham, David, Salomon, Samson, Esther, etc). In every story of the Bible we can see god intervening in peoples fate, whether they want it or not. Most of them didn't have any option. And by being able to realize that, I started to question everything I believed and discovered that if you change the main character of the bible (god) for a normal human being, you get a literal Hitler. A lying, powerful, narcicist, mass murderer and controlling entity that believes that what is doing is for the greater good... a being that does not follow his own moral standards, yet he enforce them to us... If he was real, he's not a god of love. And that's what the whole faith is based on. Without that, I just stopped believing. That was basically my beginning of deconstruction, but there's a lot more that I would love to talk about, but is a really long story, just like most people that has gone through this.
That is why, when TikTok recommend you un my FYP, I connected with everything you say in your videos. Because I've lived it. I've went through that as well. And the more I think about everything I learned those years, the less sense it makes to believe in it.
I appreciate everything you do in the internet, because there's a lot of people believing with blind eyes a faith that is really dangerous. Specially when "religion, does not apply to happiness of each individual".
Hope you get really far with all of what you're doing, and to be happy by living your most authentic self❤️

      @servantofmessiah1071 ปีที่แล้ว +1

No, it's not true that God always intervenes. If he intervenes sometimes, yes, that could be a good thing. But he honors freewill. For example, in Matthew 23, Jesus condemned Jerusalem because they rejected their Messiah. It was not God's choice, but their choice, to reject him. Similarly it's not God's choice (or will or desire) that you reject Jesus. His will is that you turn to him.
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9, KJV)

Got into a boat and sail to the opposite direction. If "god" truly respected "free will" he would had called another profet, instead, he sent a storm and was willing to destroy the boat with everybody inside. And even tho was Jonah decision to jump, at what point was that free will? He was in a moral dilemma where he could stay in the boat and perish with the rest of the people or jump. He jumped because he knew what his "god" was capable of. He believed in a "god" that has killed for things was less important than that. So, even tho he jumped by "choice", it wasn't that much of a choice. Also, side note... when they sort the lots and the lot fell on Jonah... was that even luck or "god" manipulating Jonah's fate (because thats way too much coincidece)? And then after Jonah jumped from the boat, he got swallowed by a fish and got spit out where he didn't wanted to be, in Niniveh. And that's just and example of many in the bible where god doesn't not care about free will. Should I talk about Virgin Mary and how "god" put a kid inside her without even asking?

It is evident only humans did, with all the numerous historical and scientific errors, and contradictions, chapters edited out, and the human morals of that time and place (slavery, human and animal sacrifice, women bought and sold as property with no autonomy, incest, and men having sex with whomever they wanted to marry, whenever they wanted (except not lying with men), was all perfectly morally fine).
Also, if the Bible was God's divine message, the Bible would have one single interpretation that all his created people believed. As it is, not one person interprets the Bible in exactly the same way.
So, what is your evidence that God was involved in humans writing of the Bible? One verifiable form of evidence would be sufficient for me to believe.

Hi, Kristi. You came up in my recommended videos, probably because I'm fascinated by religious belief and the dialogue surrounding it. I like understanding how theological systems work, and I could never quite connect the dots with Christianity. Even as a little kid growing up Catholic I had questions that no one could answer, or was willing to answer. I loved the rituals and the beauty of the Mass. I wanted it all to be true. But after years of unanswered prayers, I passed from bewilderment and hurt, to guilt, to anger with God, and finally to unraveling what little belief I had altogether.
There may or may not be something beyond this life, and the question continues to fascinate me. But it's quite obvious that the Abrahamic myths are just that -- myths. The omni-God, as I call him, cannot logically exist, and the theology surrounding him just doesn't hold water. There's a reason your comments section is filled with Pascal's Wagers and No True Scotsman fallacies: Free thought isn't encouraged, because if you press too hard, the entire edifice comes crumbling down.
I still admire the ethics of the Sermon on the Mount, but most Christians seem to ignore Jesus' words in favor of Paul's. Being Catholic, I also took comfort in Mary as a compassionate mother figure, but in the end she was a reminder of the degree to which the sacred feminine is neglected and ignored in Christianity.
The Christian myth has bound together Western civilization for centuries, but I'm not sure how much longer it can sustain itself. It has valuable lessons to impart, but those lessons go mostly ignored, leaving nothing of transformative value for this world. Everyone's so busy focusing on getting their free ticket to heaven that they forget to live in this world.

She blames Christians for this, not knowing almost everyone on Earth has been duped. To put this in a way you might understand. You're part of the reason that Satan exists. Is the presence of the wind a confirmation that God has put his approval on someone's message? On the contrary. Messages (including preachers, etc) need to be checked out by carefully examining the Scriptures to see whether the person's message is in agreement with what God says in his word (the Bible). Paul himself was cross examined, as it were, by the Bereans. For after Paul had preached to them, we read:
“These (the Bereans) were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” (Acts 17:11, KJV)
So basically that is how you do it. And by so doing it that way, you would indeed end up rejecting certain (erroneous) teachings put forth by certain "Bible teachers" and it would put you in a better position to actually know the true God of the Bible (he is good). 🙂

    • @servantofmessiah1071
      @servantofmessiah1071 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I assume by quoting Isaiah 45:7, you are saying the Bible teaches that God is the author of evil. But the Bible does not teach that. Here's a good commentary that clears that up. It is written by John MacArthur, and although I differ in some areas with him, I wholeheartedly agree with his statement on this passage:
If God is sovereign, is He responsible for evil?
No. Scripture says that when God finished His creation, He saw everything and declared it "very good" (Genesis 1:31). Many Scriptures affirm that God is not the author of evil: "God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone" (James 1:13). "God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all" (1 John 1:5). "God is not the author of confusion" (1 Corinthians 14:33)-and if that is true, He cannot in any way be the author of evil.
Occasionally someone will quote Isaiah 45:7 (KJV) and claim it proves God made evil as a part of His creation: "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things" (emphasis added).
But the New American Standard Bible gives the sense of Isaiah 45:6-7 more clearly: "There is no one besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other, the One forming light and creating darkness, causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the Lord who does all these." In other words, God devises calamity as a judgment for the wicked. But in no sense is He the author of evil.
Evil originates not from God but from the fallen creature.
