I have a friend who converted to Buddhism from fundamentalist Christianity.
His family and former church said that he left cause he didn't want to be held morally accountable.
Which is hilarious, considering that Buddhism is all about moral accountability lol. We had a good laugh about it.

And if the gawd of the Xians is real, then everyone will be held accountable regardless of their belief, so how does leaving that religion let you off the hook? The answer should be "It doesn't", so as usual the Xlings have no clue about the religion they claim to follow. Absolutely ridiculous.

I was THE pious religious kid, so you can easily imagine how I heard the ‘You left Christianity to sin!’ (And still hear it) when I had to come out as gay. Despite my earnest pleading, God did not have any vested interest in making me straight ‘so that I could honor Him’. I went through years of misery and confusion and suicidal ideations, so ‘you just want to sin’ is uniquely reductive and insulting

To say that God sins is really, really wicked. God is good; you are not. In civil courts, people lose money and liberty over libel, yet you libel the righteous God Who made everything. Do you not know that you will stand before Him? Do you not know that hell is real?
In 1999, two boys entered their high school, point-blank executed their classmates, then took their own lives. Are they blissfully 'sleeping' now? Is there no consciousness after death? Is there no justice for these two boys who left a nation reeling with shock and grief? Is there no justice?
I am not the judge, but my best guess is that you, who have libeled God, will be in worse shape than these two boys on judgment day. They killed the body, but you are leading people to hell, in direct treason to God.
You cannot say that I did not warn you. Jesus said that hell is torment and it lasts forever. Yet, Jesus loves you. He died on a Cross so that you may know Him. Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

@@christophergibson7155 I disgree with your assessment here. Had Christians forgiven me, top of the list, my wife and pastors I'd put myself under their authority, I'd likely still be a Christian.
I needed their forgiveness and it was withheld, actually to point I nearly suicided.
Their unforgiveness (and frankly, dehumanizing hatred) is what lead me to question my faith and belief.
If the Christians I'd lived among for years, worshipped with, gone on ministry trips with, loved, and followed Christ with, had actually followed the basic things they claim they believe, I'd never had starting reading Dawkins.
Once I started down that path, it was all over, the fabric unraveled and I became an atheist.
These days I could care less if those old Christians forgive me, don't care, don't even want to know, and, yeah, my ex-wife, the perfect self-righteous Sunday school teacher who's poop didn't stink, you know, as she was perfect, well, my new girlfriend, an atheist, is infinity better to live with. So, yeah, in the end, their hatred was my salvation.
I believed, obviously, God had forgiven me...at the time, now, of course, I don't care. If God turns out to exist, I'll demand he/she/it/they apologize to me.
So, yeah, the guy's comment was good, he does understand forgiveness, it's something that we need in a community from other HUMANS...the only beings with minds that we're aware of in this universe (so far).

I was raised as Roman Catholic, but had evangelical influences in my life, too. When puberty hit around 11/12 I discovered I’m gay. Never did anything at all awful as a child, and to hear it said I was a sinner, it’s evil, blah blah blah, the crimes enacted against LGBT people, really threw a light on so called God and religion and all the rest. By 15 I was an atheist. This was back in the 90s. After ~30 years of investigating Christianity and Judaism and Islam and all their derivative cults… archeology, *secular* and scholarly studies on the faith, the sciences, etc, it’s quite obvious it’s all one big myth. TOTALLY agree!!! I'm so glad that Christianity is not a RELIGION, it's a Choice. To be a Christian is to be a "follower" of Christ. The first Believers were not even called "Christians", but followers of "the Way".
*John 14:6 (nkjv)* _6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me._
REFERENCES TO "THE WAY" IN THE BIBLE

2 and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
      Acts 24:14 (nkjv)
14 But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets.
All religions of "the world", esteem their own traditions over the Word of God.
Christianity is a CHOICE, "Who do you say that I am?", Jesus is asking. Our faith is not based on who others say Christ is, but Whom we Profess Him to be, according to His Word.
      *Romans 10:9-10 (nkjv)*
_9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation._

We are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we are sinners. If a man (woman) says they have never done wrong/sinned they are a liar, and the truth (Jesus Christ) is not in them.
We fail as born-again believers to love unconditionally, with an unfailing, everlasting, perfect love because the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. We are not saved because of our performance (behavior) we are saved because of the blood and the finished work that Christ Jesus completed on the cross.

I was raised in the "non-denominational" Christian church. To be fair, my pastors never stooped down to the whole angry God preaching, though I did run into a few baptists that did. Overall, most people I met in my church were welcoming and tolerant of different people and they tried to embody the loving side of God. I respect them for that.
I stopped believing in the Christian God after reading the Bible for the umpteenth time. The older I get and the more I think about the Bible, the more ridiculous it seems to me that it's the word of God. All the inconsistencies contained therein really turned me away.
Your video comes at an interesting time for me. I've just come to peace with my sexuality after years of suppressing it because the Bible says I should. I've had people in the church tell me that the only reason that I left was so that I could partake in "depravity". The truth is, I started living authentically because I don't believe in this BS. I didn't leave just so that I could sleep with 20 different people each weekend.
Even now, my life actually hasn't changed that much since leaving. I'm still gainfully employed. I still like to run, read, draw, and write in my free time. I'm not even making homoerotic or "edgy" art. And I'm certainly NOT sleeping with 20 people every weekend, though if other people want to, that's their choice.
Anyway, I really appreciate these videos, especially this one. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who had an issue with what the Bible classifies as sin.

I've been an Atheist since I was about 7. I wasn't allowed to ask questions when I was sent to Sunday School. Nothing they were teaching, made sense. So, I asked questions, and was told NO ONE questioned the little black book. After about three weeks, I was sent to the pastor, and was told I could no longer come TO the SS class. When I asked why, he said I was a disruption, and now other kids were asking questions, so... When they were shoving "sin" down our throats, none of it made sense, and seemed rather mean. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that this "sin" bulls**t, was just like all the rest of the nonsense, and was all made up by man, to control the masses. When I was kicked out, and the pastor called my folks, they asked why I was being such a brat! I (somehow), calmly told them, that I didn't believe in ANY of the stuff I was being taught. That I thought it was all made up BS, and I wanted nothing to do with it. Luckily, my folks, even though they were Southern Baptist, just agreed, that there was no use in sending me to this church, or any other, so... Thus began my lifelong journey into Atheism. Good question: Should God judge wickedness?
In 1999, two boys walked onto their high school campus, point-blank executed their classmates, then took their own lives. Were they judged or rewarded for their crime? According to atheism, the boys, who hated people and hated life, made a great choice. They got their revenge and are now blissfully 'asleep,' unaware of the hurt and pain they caused. If atheism is true, then there is no justice. Ever read the bumper sticker, "No justice, no peace"? That is why it is impossible for an atheist to be at peace.

I just want to be a good person and send a positive message or messages to everyone I encounter on a daily basis. Good on you mate, So now .. As a 50 year old who has seen a lot in life.
I was once an ordained minister, I no longer am.
I left it way way before you did.
In my case, I gave my life to god, so much so that i gave up $50,000 went to uni, got a degree, All to get into the church
and.. it wasn't a total waste because you do learn a lot of shit while there and you do have access to resources and people that normal people would not have access to. the irony is, This level of access showed me the following
      1. I'm not going to say , God doesn't exist, We don't know if he exists and that's the only truth on that topic.
This may be because he doesn't exist, it may be that he does BUT HE DOESN'T WANT US TO KNOW, in which case we are not doing anything wrong.
      I'll expand on this later
      2. But i was certainly not going to find god in the church
      3. None of the ministers knew whether god existed or not, Most of there
because they were forced to be, some were there because they wanted to be
and others were just in a frame of mind that kept them there, sort of cruising along if you will
      I learned the following
      - Jesus did actually and historically live, There was a birth , There was him starting christianity , There was the crucifixion
      that all happened
      - There are no miracles,
You drill down further and more complex and later when you are old enough YOU FIND OUT HOW TO SIMPLIFY THIS SUBJECT and i'll show you how..
      1. You Learn MOSES NEVER EXISTED.
      Christians will defend this
      BUT IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE
      HERE IS WHAT IS IMPORTANT
      2. Did man receive god's laws ?
      Well.....
Point 1 - Historically Moses (Whether existing or not) NEVER ENTERED THE HOUSE OF EGYPT, There is literally nothing to be found of him in the house of egypt, as an infant, a child, a teen or a man, that decree of Seti i ..... We have things on Seti, THAT DECREE WAS NEVER SET FORTH
so.. Moses didn't live in the house of egypt
      as such
The slaves could not have been freed
      As such
He didn't take them to the mountain
      As such
      He didn't climb the mountain
Nor pass the commandements to the people
MOSES IS CREDITED WITH WRITING THE FIRST BOOKS OF THE BIBLE
the bible every christian holds today (we won't say... is bullshit) we will say.... IS NOT GOD'S WORD
Because Moses never passed it onto man
MAN NEVER RECEIVED GOD'S WORD, THAT NEVER HAPPENED
Now... When you do your Uni course to be a minister we are actually taught this,
We are actually taught that the church created the original bible .
so now if a christian defends that
      1. They can't because it's the decree of the Holy church,
They are wrong and their opinion is irrelevant on the subject of religion because the church makes the rules
      2. But we need merely ask this question
IS THE BIBLE THE WORD OF GOD ?
and the answer is simple and so is the proof
      Answer : No it's not
The Proof : Find the Source and ask them.
I've done this, it's interesting, You should try it
      Get a bible, any bible,
Find the publisher (The company that literally BROUGHT THAT BOOK INTO EXISTENCE)
Call them and ask them these questions
      1. is this your bible ?
      2. is this bible LITERALLY the actual words of god ?
They will say NO (and there's your answer) but they will defend their point as follows
it's the INSPIRED WORD OF GOD
      so you ask
      3. OK, Where did you get your inspiration from ? was god literally there ? Did you get your inspiration from god himself or a person or other books.
THE ANSWER IS... We have derived inspiration from other bibles
so basically they have picked and chosen bits from here and there and everywhere...
      4. Last Question....
OK, So once your original book was written , Other than Translation or the cover,
HAS IT EVER BEEN CHANGED ?
      The answer is
YES IT HAS and we reserve the right to change it without notification
NOW HERE IS WHAT I WANT YOU TO THINK ABOUT....
      1. We ABSOLUTELY KNOW The bible IS NOT God's word
(that's not even a question anymore)
it's more of a question, does the christian have the nut sack to make the phone call.
      2. We know Jesus existed (No Miracles) but... he did exist
      3. We don't know if god exists
      BUT THERE'S MORE
      4. AS A FACT.......
RELIGION IS A FILTHY , VILE AND DISGUSTING THING
Now let's explore, What if God does exist
      WELL......
      1. If he does and he doesn't want us to know because it's .. Let's say a test to get into heaven or some other reserved special space
then... Following religion and reading a word that is not his word IS GOING TO PISS HIM OFF, and get you excluded
      2. You need to make a separation between
      THE BIBLE
      RELIGION
      GOD
Being Fair..... We shouldn't tarnish the reputation of god (Should he exist) Because all that bullshit in the bible IS NOT WHAT HE ACTUALLY SAID.
so i wouldn't dismiss the idea of god
I wouldn't spend my life looking for him either.. I DID IT FOR A LITTLE OVER 20 YEARS.... DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, Life is precious
      3. We shouldn't introduce children to religion and philosophy.
their brains are not developed enough until the age of 25 let's say, to comprhend it and make a choice, Religion before the age of 25 should be banned altogether
      4. BASICALLY IT COMES DOWN TO WHAT YOU SAID....
LIVE YOUR LIFE AS A GOOD PERSON AND DO YOUR BEST
I reckon if there is a day of judgement (and i don't think there is) but IF....
A Lot of christians are gonna get a rude shock
because how do you explain to a supreme creator that you were following a word that was not his own when the world told you it wasn't his word
      VS
Me and you and god asking, why did you do what you did?
and we're like...... well.... we did our best and tried to be as honest as possible
      SO THERE YOU GO...
A Few things to think about.
Don't dismiss that there may be a god (i reckon there isn't) but don't dismiss,
at the end of the day, we'll find out when he die... Maybe

A key standout for me is the belief that IF there's a judgement day, it'll be highly unlikely and I might say foolish to be judged on the basis of not having followed "the right" religion, especially given the fact that there's so many to evaluate for authenticity and so little time in a human's life span to complete that task. It makes far more sense to judge people on their sincerity to finding the truth (whatever it may be) and how ethically they lived.

Thank you Kristi for putting my exact thoughts in this video. It makes zero sense when Christians use the "you just want to sin" bit to manipulate/guilt/shame us all while, the salvation was a "safety net" if you will for sinning! Like literally they don't actually believe in accountability whatsoever! They blame everything on god or the devil. They think my "sin" is worse than theirs all because of their ability to repent. But, how is it "sin" when we don't believe in the bible therefore, we don't see "sin" the way they do and it's hard for them to wrap their minds around the fact that we just don't believe what they believe so it can't be used against us! If anything, I became a better person after I left Christianity! I'm more conscious of my behavior now than I did while being a Christian... I care about people, the planet, and animals... I'm more compassionate and willing to empathize than ever before! It's all just projection on their part and jealousy that we get to live in our truth while not being worried about the opinions of others meanwhile, their lives are scrutinized and analyzed under a microscope! Thank you for this timely video!!!

I'm jewish, been an atheist for most of my life and the reason is basically I didn't believe, I wanted to believe in stuff like magic and miracles and stuff but can't. So, one person tried to use the "you only want to sin" thing with me and I honestly asked them what sinful things do I do? and the only thing they could even come close was that I don't follow the sabbath. That was it. They know I don't lie, I don't drink or do drugs or even go out to party. They just couldn't come up with anything at all and they just left it at that. I wish everyone else can have such an easy experience as I did. My parents are a bit disappointed that I lost faith, but they don't fault me on it. They say that it's my journey.

They don't follow the Sabbath, either. Less than a few million people on earth do; just a handful of Orthodox or Hassidic Jews. Christians don't and it's not because of the wrong day. They do things like drive and cook food on their Sabbath, which of course Orthodox Jews don't do. That would have been my response to the Sabbath accusation.

"Cussin', drinking, going to a party, listening to regular music, watching movies, exploring your sexual identity..." So, in one word... Living.
Basically to christians, living itself is a sin. In order to avoid sin, one should stop living, or turn into a vegetable, or something. Just ignore them, Kristie. And may i say, if you don't mind... if sinning makes you so intelligent and beautiful... Keep sinning! 😉

I had a friend tell me that I needed god/Jesus because this is the “most stressed” she has ever seen me. Mind you, I’ve seen her 7 times in the last year, we rarely talk about what’s going on in my life, and she had previously ghosted me for the last 4 years. The last time she REALLY “knew” me was when I was a devout Christian. She has a hard time accepting that isn’t my reality anymore… after saying this is the “most stressed” I’ve been (which it’s not, frankly 2020, when I lost my dad was my most stressed) she went on to say that this is the most FREE and confident she’s ever seen me. And THAT is 10000% the truth. My freedom and confidence to be exactly who I am skyrocketed when I left Christianity. I’m sure many of you could say the same!

Quick preface: Secular Buddhist here, but grew up in a protestant primary school with strong links to the Church of England.
One thing I've always found weird is that they would say you can't be good without God. That since god is the source of all good, then doing good things, but not in the name of god, is actually a selfish thing, because we're being good for ourselves, and not for god or his children. This has never made sense to me, because being good in Christianity is based on fear. The fear of being sent to hell, whereas people who don't believe in hell and are still good anyway are good simply for the sake of itself. Being good out of fear of retribution completely devalues it as far as I'm concerned. People are good for themselves, but that's because being kind and caring for others, and doing things without expecting personal gain makes people feel good and is good for our mental health (hence why I want to be a psychologist, and perhaps a therapist). If you do selfless things simply because you're afraid of punishment for being selfish, and not for its own sake, that is in itself, selfish.

Your mention of the varying definitions of sin among Christians reminds me of an incident that a senior citizen (a former Hindu turned atheist) told me about his siblings, mostly a fanatical fundamentalist Christian sister, a Catholic sister, and a Charismatic brother who is equally fanatical as the fundamentalist sister. When the moderate Catholic sister went to do line dancing, that triggered the Charismatic sister very badly and she tried to stop her from doing it, saying that it was 'satanic'. His brother blamed his atheism as the cause of their mother's dementia, and that brother tried conducting various FAILED exorcisms on their mother as well as their other brother who had cancer. After all the prayers and exorcisms, their mother and cancer-stricken brother are now dead and the mother even had pressing marks of someone's hand on her neck while alive to attest to the failed exorcisms which had turned quite physical with her reacting vehemently against it. Did that uncle's atheism cause their sickness? No. Did the fanatical brother and sister's faith as fundamentalists cause immense stress to the family members? Yes. I rest my case. Now, who's sinning against who?

Long story but I left a fundamentalist controlling church group (cult) years ago called the International Churches of Christ in the Boston area. Was really fed up with all of it toward the end. And a woman member I was friends with messaged me several times. Told me she was disappointed I left the fold so to speak. She also tried to lay the whole leaving so I could sin line on me. Said she believed it was all due to sin in my life I didn't want to give up.
Admittedly, I trolled her a little for fun. Me being the guy into Heavy Metal and playing in bands. I told her I got seduced by the dark side and the church didn't accommodate my need for hosting blood rituals and having a work lab decked out with black potions and skulls. Just said ridiculous stuff to horrify her. Might have been kind of mean at the time but I thought it was funny.

“That’s what all the Christians do anyway, right?” Funnily enough, that was essentially the position of the Khlysts - the underground spiritual Christian sect linked to the bizarre mystic Rasputin. They openly embraced sinning on the grounds that without sin, there could be no repentance or redemption. At least they owned it, unlike most Christians who act righteously while not following any of Christ’s positive teachings.

As an ex-Christian, I would say that American Christians have lost all credibility over the last eight years, and it is not as if they really had any before then. That is part of what spurred me to study and find a way out of what I know is a religion that really does not believe in justice unlessi ti of their own idealizations. It is strange that their whole thing is to tell people that they are a sinner and in need of salvation, and yet they are sinning themselves when they have created God in their own image, and then they don't even follow that God who they claim is Jesus. They only follow their own viewpoints. But they ignore as Jesus the man said, "the weightier issues of the law."

are not ignorant and unaware but KNOW
and fully aware that they don't value their own lives, dignities, and existence.....
