    I was in a Marine infantry unit and I was never issued a pistol. I was also in Afghanistan during the time period that the military sustained the highest amount of casualties and I don't recall anyone from my unit or units I talked to with a confirmed kill with a pistol. Chill out guys, the military could have adopted a single action revolver and it probably would make little difference in the grand scheme of things lol.

      As a retired Army Intel guy, I'm glad to see they switched up. For us, the pistol was our carry weapon as on many occasions we were in civilian clothes, so having a new option is great to see. I personally, didn't obtain a Beretta until after I retired and hopefully you understand "obtain" means I traded another least favorite firearm to get one. However, this new M17 variant, which I've already held is on my short list of firearms to purchase.

      As a fellow M9/92 lover I think you'd really like it Paul. The accuracy and shooting characteristics are amazing for a pistol that swaps around so easily and needs no fitting. Very similar recoil impulse to the 92.
      This series and the new 365XL are design and engineering homeruns.

      @Jumping Jehosafat Yes, I own a Shadow 2 and a CZ 2075 Rami. The Shadow 2 is such a wonderful shooting pistol. It really isn't a carry pistol but one of the finest shooting pistols I've ever fired. I like it so much I almost and still may buy a 2nd one. It's worth the price for sure. I like it so much I bought the .22 conversion kit also and it shoots just as well, and for me was worth the extra $400. CZ in general are really great shooter's if you buy the full rail models and worth every penny.
      I own 4 Sigs a P 938, P 365, P 320 SC and a 5" 1911 Nightmare fastback in .45 A.C.P. If I had to choose just one, I pick the CZ Shadow 2. Good luck, just pick one up and check it out if you can. The trigger is fantastic and because the weight of the pistol the recoil is surprisingly mild and fast back on target.

    I've personally noticed and been told on several occasions that the trigger on my p320 is better than most. Don't know what it is exactly but there is absolutely no "sponginess" to the trigger pull. Short distance to the wall, clean and crisp break and a ridiculously short reset. The only thing I've done to it is install a flat faced trigger but other than that, it's stock. I did not opt for the recall regarding the drop test. Not judging anyone who did just not overly concerned with the issue. I'd like to know if you or anyone else has noticed differences in the triggers of the p320's?

    You mentioned in your video that the military was going to use an optical site, made by Leupold, on this handgun, that reminds me of a video that I watched recently where Chuck Taylor was telling the man who was interviewing him that he recently had a class of U.S. Marine Corps, Special Forces teams (probably recon) and that he was having to teach them how to use the iron sites on their rifles. They had no idea how to use iron sights on their M-16s. I find that both amazing and frightening at the same time.

    I own the M17 & I like the pistol. I recently bought a 19x. After comparing the pistols side by side & shooting hundreds of rounds through each, I actually prefer the 19x. It’s very easy to see why these two pistols were the finalists in the HMS Program. I agree with others that the price was why Sig ultimately won. Both are great pistols!
    Carry On! 😎

    • @glockoholics7512
      @glockoholics7512 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HURT 1: The 19x is slimmer, lower bore axis & the G19 slide on the G17 frame is super manageable with lower recoil. I’ve always shot a Sig better than a Glock until the 19x. Maybe the marksman barrel has helped or it’s just the ergonomics of the 19x... I’m really not sure? Just love the way the 19x shoots & feels in my hand.
      Like I said before both pistols are great but the 19x is a shooter!

      @hurt1704 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Georgia Bow Hunter sounds like I'll just have to buy both. I have been eyeballing an M17 commemorative edition, though the price tag of almost a grand has held me back due to the price I can pick up a 19x blue label for. Thanks for the response

    • @glockoholics7512

      HURT 1: I didn’t get the Army commemorative edition. I purchased the model sootch00 did in this review. I bought mine for $605 out the door. The commemorative editions are way over priced IMO. I bought three 21rd magazines in coyote tan to give mine the look of the Army version. Great pistol

      Obviously less capacity but if you had to choose get the colt 1911 as it will retain value throughout your life. Unless you get a limited edition M17 or get your hands on a surplus, the value won’t be retained and on top of that you don’t have much choice in the after market for internal parts except maybe springs, triggers and the chassis that you can swap out.

    For logistics and economic reasons the military was looking for a fully modular sidearm, so Sig Saur M17 being a more modular handgun, won the military contract. In reality though both Sig M17 and Glock 19X are neck and neck in terms of their capabilities, overall reliability’s etc. And of course, neither one of them is really suited for civilian type applications (competition, range, personal defense etc.), and not the least of which concealed carry. There are even far better handgun choices out there for the home defense/bed side type application. The silver lining in all this is the fact that some of the technological, material, and design advances that went into the developments of both Sig M17 and Glock 19X are bound to spill over into the civilian targeted markets, as well.

    Glad they sorted the drop issues and related problems.
    The loaded chamber indicator on the top is a bonus.
    Nice to have the choice to pull your sidearm if you run out of ammo or other situations.
    Can't see many military personnel using a red dot, but it's nice to have the option.
    At the time the features and modularity definately tipped it sigs way.
    With at least a twenty year plus service life it will only get better.
    The M9 is not exactly the same as it was back at the start of the competition for a colt 45 replacement.

There are still issues with the drop safeties after the recall , there are police departments that have officers injured because the gun has gone off in the holster. Also the coating doesnt hold up.

    Correction. Sig Sauer: Choice of the US Budget Committee. When the bid came out $100 million dollars less than the competitors, we knew what the "Choice of the US Military" would be. Never a truer word spoken. To the budget committee the "best" is ALWAYS the "cheapest" which is ultimately the CHOICE. Because its the "chosen weapon" doesn't mean its worth a shit, it just means after two or three "system upgrades" it can be made adequate and still be cheap.
