- The new Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 is a .380 ACP pistol that has a 10/12 rd magazine capacity and it's a very concealable carry option. A huge upgrade over the original version. Thanks to @SmithAndWessonInc for partnering with us and allowing us to keep the gun. #Smith&WessonPartner #Bodyguard2.0 #380acp

Took long enough for somone to make a competition to the LCP MAX.
Exactly😂😂😂 need to see some comparisons now
The lcp max is smaller, sootch does a size comparison in the video. The smith is a bigger but not by much. IMO it's going to boil down to if you want to buy another gun or are willing to sacrifice the increase in size (considering it's use as "Deep Carry".
LCP Max jammed so much, and you literally couldn't get a round of the chamber once it was chambered without pushing it out with a finger using force. I loved the LCP 2 .22rl, but I got rid of my LCP Max.
@@ArduousPun I used a heavier recoil spring which solved this issue, but the LCP MAX has been the most problematic pistol I owned by far. I've done a bunch of mods to it, it seems to work fine now
@@ManapuaManthe bodyguard is narrow er, shorter, and not enough longer for it to matter (per the published info from Ruger and S&W. I’ll be getting one for deep concealment…
I told my wife I was done buying guns after this new 12 gauge I bought. Darnit now I have to buy this.
Right? I share this problem lol. This and an m&p metal are in my future.
@wavemakersdj yes the metal one I really really want. Been trying to talk with the wife about getting it.
Right there with you on this one. I may have to … I got it! I’ll tell my wife that I’m getting it for HER.😇
@@erikwaters238 lol my wife knows better. 🤣
I...must have...this firearm. I'll gift the old lady the g42, and gift my mother the max. And gift myself this prize! But I do have large hands. But when you need a smaller print with loose shorts, or fitted/medium legroom pants....print counts. And small print, with lightweight wins. You'll still be eating dinner at the end of the day, not so much for a threat who puts your life in danger.
Man, i really like the overall design of this new Bodyguard. The trigger design looks great.
Reset is very light. I wish Sootch had measured it. Don't have a gauge myself, but it's almost not there.
That looks way better than the original bodyguard.
It’s not about looks
@@kevinhullinger8743👈 likes high point
@@kevinhullinger8743Looks definitely matter to an extent though. Guarantee that if the two were side by side more people would pick up the 2.0 first not knowing anything about them.
@@dale3123 agree on the surface. However, If they have a particular purpose for deep concealment & safety they would most likely choose the original for a few reasons.
Looks way better than my LCP MAX too.
Wow this solves a lot of the issues I have with the LCP max. S&W putting out bangers this month!
What problems does it solve? Lcp max is awesome, except for the inconsistent lock back because the mags.
LCP max is smaller, and this is the size of a shield 9mm that would have cheaper ammo….wtf am I missing
I'll keep my Max
It solves by having a slide release not slide lock, and tooless takedown, and better grip with the front finger raise along with the higher beavertail. Its just tweaking the design. Its good but not a requirement if you already own the lcp max.
@@MotoNoir86obviously you didn’t watch the video. The Bodyguard 2.0 is very similar in size to the Ruger LCP Max.
Glad its called the bodyguard and not the secret service to 😅
😂😂😂
If they called it the secret service you wouldn’t be able to holster it 😂
Too soon? Nope.
Well, quit picking on Girls. They tried sort of. But we need men to do the job properly 😅
Or the DEI hire.
S&W stepping up their game!
The shapes of this Bodyguard 2.0 are on another level. High beaver tail and low slide for an overall super low bore axis, plus the grip only seems slightly shorter than my G43X/G48(by about a 1/4 inch, so still full grip). S&W engineered their asses off on this one, and for the right reasons too. I wasn't trying to enter the .380 world, but I might have to now - this thing is just too good to pass up on.
That's a great summary!
Great review Sootch as always. 380 is an underrated and under appreciated caliber in much of the 2A community but she’s got its uses!
I picked up a Bodyguard 2.0 the other day and it's far easier to grip and shoot than my LCP Max. Was able to slow fire into just over an inch group at seven yards. Rear sight is very course, made for quick aiming, but easy to use. LCP Max getting sold.
That is going to sell like Hot Cakes !!!
…..but why. It’s bigger than an LCP max, and virtually the same as a shield, but with more expensive ammo
@@MotoNoir86 not bigger by anything noticeable. Be honest. The slide release and beavertail are the biggest improvements.
@@MotoNoir86 LCP max is snappy. The bodyguard is much better with recoil
@@MotoNoir86you can get 380 ACP for the same price as 9mm if you know when and where to shop.
@@prof113this is not true
Had to laugh when you compared it to the Max, you knew everyone wanted to see that! 👍
M&P guns my favorite, very simple, reliable, and catching up with the new modifications from flat face trigger to comp slide
Ill wait to hear from someone who actually pays out of their own pocket to review this gun. A real honest review. No hard feelings
Because S&W is definitely known for poor quality products and sootch is known for being dishonest.. why even say anything.
Check out Tool and Targets. He has some good observations regarding what he is not thrilled about with the pistol
Holy smokes!! This is the first gun i have wanted in a long time. I have or have had most of all the others😊
Say hello to my little friend ! 🔥💪🏽👍🏽
This is going to sell like hot cakes.
S&W making it happen lately. FPC, Comp series, now this. I'll probably keep my Ruger LCP 2, but this is nice. On another note, I'll never part with my Sport II. It's my first born, rifle.
Worst thing about 380 is how much more expensive it is which affects how often you can train with your edc. Love the size, looks but not sure about switching to 380 for my edc. I DO love S&W’s consistent innovation these last couple years. They’ve come out w some really great stuff!
Not when your wife already shoots 380 only and you get to dip into her prepandemic stash😂

If ya can't afford it ya don't need it
I ditched 380acp When ammo crunch happened and I couldn't find ammo within 2 hours of my house. Called Gun stores, Walmarts, mom an pop stores, an visited places in another state an Couldn't find it no where .. so I went 9mm mostly for carry, and haven't looked back at 380.
I got a 357mag, 38 Derringer, Glock 9mm.. even my 45acp.
I see no need for 380.
@@coppertopv365 Found Fiocchi for $270 for a case of a thousand and it shoots very well from the Bodyguard 2.0
I have a Shield Ez and it’s nice but it prints as my carry. As a woman I haven’t found a conceal holster that works for me not even the belly band. I was looking for something smaller that wouldn’t print. I like S&W, I have small hands. I will be looking into this! Impressed!
Have you asked a holster maker to drop the actual holster lower? I know it would be a bit more difficult to draw, but practice become muscle memory.
Finally a S&W micro that doesn't look like it was designed before ww1.
😂😂😂
Looks like an mc9 but the mc9 is a 9mm
The original was uuuuuuggggggly!
?? You think the p365, lcp2, hellcat, FN reflex, and canik mete look like ww1 guns?? What micro carries specifically look like ww1 guns to you?? Besides the micro 1911s???
Which micro compacts look like ww1 handguns to you?
The ergos on this piece look great -- longer beavertail, deeper tang, higher undercut, and lower bore axis. Smith should offer these ergos on the other 2.0s as well.
Everyone surely likes them some Deeper "TANG" ! 🤭😅🤣
I shot mine yesterday and very little recoil with the high grip. Very easy to rapid fire into small groups.
@@AlSimon Awesome!
The Shield Plus had a baby ❤
It’s so small! Held one today! Seriously cool little gun! And it’s comfy to hold
Please make a Secret Service version with a manual safety. They look really unsafe holstering their pistols
They have one with a manual safety.
@@AlSimonI'm pretty sure the comment is a "Troll" which is 😂 to me. 👍
This is a HUGE upgrade from the original Bodyguard.
It’s about time.
I work in a gun shop and over the last two weeks we have gotten at least a half dozen calls a day looking for this pistol. We have not gotten any in yet but looks like they will be a big seller. I hope that it lives up to the hype
Thanks, Don. Looks like an option worth deep consideration.
Thank you, sootch00. Love your reviews!
Thanks Ben!
When fired comes back on target immediately. Nice for such a light gun.
I don't know why I love small handguns so much. 🤷
Great Review!
Great for women, as a backup pistol, and as an ankle carry pistol.
Finally S&W gave us a full grip on a micro sub compact
It's literally a Shield plus in 380. Just a little smaller.
Definitely buying this. LCPs just feel cheap in my hand and I ended up going with a Kahr CT380. But now it's clear I'm gonna have to buy this as it's clearly the best pocket sized 380 option available on the market.
Wish you would have put the original Bodyguard side by side w/the 2.0. to compare actual sizes
Watch Gatman video I think he did just that
ky gun co video does
I have the 1st bodyguard and it's trash to me. It's that trigger. Other than that it would be great. Thanks for mentioning the other comparisons- I'll look them up.
@@semlohde1 it may be kygunco video i watched 2 or 3
@@kebotransjust left this video to check Gatman’s. He compared it to the Sig P238 not the Bodyguard.
Looks like a nice little carry. Love the elongated beaver tail.
I liked the 1.0 but sold it after noticing you can't carry a spare mage with out it being in a hard sheath or bending the sides glad to see a new 380 in a double stack format
It's a bit of an optical illusion because it doesn't look as small as it is. Usually the small guns look bulbous and weird like the LCP or micro 1911s. That looks normal just scaled down. Interesting
This is sweet, love the low borax too.
I just picked up a shield plus and absolutely love it. Now I'm getting the bodyguard for my wife. Solid weapon systems!
s&w take my money!!!!
Thinking of getting the LCP max, but now I have to reconsider
I bought the Max over a year ago and it's horrible. The function is fine but even at 7 yards it shoots low several inches and left several inches. It almost doesn't seem possible.
Own two of the 1.0. Great for pocket carry. This looks pretty sweet.
I like that the 1.0 is dao, I wish they would’ve kept that mechanism and just raised capacity.
@@Stew-rl9qk Agreed. Makes it safer for pocket carry.
@Stew-rl9qk that's the reason I got one.
Nice review, as usual. Hey, got your Sootch Olight yesterday! Man, that’s a sweet-looking light. Pics and video did not do it justice. High quality product.
Was just looking for a new SMALLL firearm yet capable. This the one
Dayum !! Smith is doing so much right on this, and also on the three new Carry Comp guns !! I've been eagerly waiting for this little gem, for a few months !! Ever since that one "leaked" ad for the Bodyguard 2.0 showed up in a magazine !!
I have been kicking the tires on the first gen Bodyguard. Nice!
1.0 is the drizzling shits..worst trigger ever
👏👏👏👏😂@@tightywhitey26
Glad they are finally starting to listen and are changing the sights from the factory
Smith is having new surveys on potential new products all the time.
SW quality is great. Wonderful review Sootch.
Thanks Doug! Looks like I'll be adding two more for Shannon and Sarah Mac! lol!
@@sootch00 I’m gonna try and keep this away from Cindy. We received the Arkfekd yesterday, she loved it.
I had it out at the meeting Sunday night and it was a huge favorite with the ladies, so be careful! lol!
The semi-auto pistols that they made is cheaper than the revolvers.
As long as the trigger isn’t like the old one, I sold mine within a month definitely looks a lot better. Looks like a shield.
This looks great. I had an LCP max and it didnt cut it for me. Didnt feed JHPs even after going back to Ruger.
I’m not much for 380 but did enjoyed the video! And have to give it to SW killing it lately!
Looks smooth as silk
That is a nice deep carry. Thanks for sharing
Unlike the Ruger, this one comes with the option of a manual safety! Great to have that option! ❤
manual safety is pussy shit
I bought an LCP MAX for my wife to learn on, it was too loud for her, So now it's basically used as a pocket pistol for when I need to check the mail, or if I'm going to a place like a school or hospital where I have to leave it in the car, or during the summer it's much easier to carry than my PDP
I wonder if it less picky with ammo compare to the LCP Max. Mine really only likes Hornady Critical Defense or Speer Gold Dot, and round nose target ammo - everything else seems to get occasional failures to return to battery (I suspect because of the bullet shape not wanting to feed).
Would love to see some ammo variety through the S&W, might cause me to switch if it eats everything.
I used a heavier recoil spring and polished the feedramp to fix my LCP MAX, but those were the ammo I was using
Same here
I got the LCP max because i wasnt a fan of the first bodyguard that i had, and now they made the 2.0....LOL well dang just take all my money!
These will sell like crazy. Lcp max has such an uncomfortable trigger that after 1 magazine i feel like im already getting a blister and it goes right back in my range bag. And to those saying its not a range gun its just for self defense... do you not like to practice with the guns you trust your life with... what a dumb argument when that gets brought up.
I like that they have a manuel safety version as well
I missed any reference in the video to a manual safety and I checked the S&W website and the neither of the models they list have a manual safety. I'm looking for a new carry like that if it has a thumb safety - especially if it has such a light trigger.
@@remowilliamsjr7095 It's there on the front page of the website. Looks like the Shield style safety with some grip texture added which is a nice touch
Excellent review I held one in store today and it’s everything you mentioned awesome little piece will be getting one very soon
I was just contemplating trading in my BG because of the trigger. I knew my wife would have problems with the trigger. Looks like I’m upgrading
Nice and handy this pistol is ❤
Great review! Looks really good! I will have to check it out! Thanks! 👍👍
I was going to get the Lcp max in 380 glad I didn’t, bc I’d rather have this!
Good to see more options for 380. Thanks👍!
Thanks for the video. Very informative. Looks like a solid gun.
In fact a very cool looking gun being perfect in its caliber. Wow!
S&W has stepped up their game! Can't wait for you to review the new metal carry comp. Love the watch. What brand is it?👍👍
Wonder how is the slide pull compared to the EZ? My wife has a little trouble racking, and the EZ works better for her.
🇺🇸
Damnit! I just bought the LCP MAX 2 weeks ago. I'm still happy with it. I do understand and appreciate the beavertail grip. I'm sure that makes it more pleasant to shoot. The price is steep, although you can probably buy it for less than 450.00. In comparison, the S&W Shield plus 9mm can be bought for around 350.00 and ammo is half as expensive. The shield is not much bigger, it's still not a pocket pistol. I'm perfectly happy with my LCP MAX in my Vedder pocket locker. In fact, this is now my preferred method of EDC. It's far more comfortable than any IWB holster would ever be (for me) and more concealable.
Looks sooooo much better than the old one….
Thx for your work Sootch00 👍🗽🙏🔫🇺🇸
You are fast man.
The Smith looks better than the Ruger, and the reset looks great. I live in Maryville and am glad they moved here.
Very handsome gun!
Finally an upgrade to the body guard.
I’m getting mrs gunslinger this bad girl great review brotha 💯👍🏽
Top notch thurough review, I LIKE IT!
Anyone who is wondering and doesn't want wait for the video its .75 inch wide. Pretty good ngl, I cant wait for SW to make the CSX in DA/SA
7/8 wide
Your reviews are always the best sootch. Very detailed. God bless. From NM.
I'm getting..."Baby where my keys 🔑 🤪 "(going 2 local FFL)
Don’t own a 380 .giving this one a while to see if there is gona be any problems with it ,there will be holsters & a aftermarket pinky extension for the 10 rd mag & I think I’m gonna have my 1st one. Unless something I like better comes out while I’m waiting for any potential kinks to be ironed out.good looking gun.that matters
Might not even need the pinky extension. The small trigger guard and generous undercut allows me to get three fingers on it. I don't have big hands though.
My first pistol is a 380…. This was 22 yrs ago… and I have always over the 380!! S&w always comes thru with the good looking pistols…
It looks cleaner with downsized slide billboarding. That has always been my biggest issue with Smith and Wesson. They have that great nitrite finish then trash it out with too much lettering and Logo work. Less is better. Better slide cuts and less logo.
Best review I’ve seen on this pistol yet…
Great review! I hope S&W offers a .22lr version soon!
... Great addition to summer pocket carry ..
Super 👍 chingona saludos de Brownsville TX buen videos 📸🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I have the original that I bought when they first come out and will probably buy this one and a great review as always.
I actually want one now, good review! As always
Overall a great review. But I have a couple of concerns I wish S&W would consider. The extended magazine has the same movement on the base bottom like the Shield mags. Those move around in a belt or pocket and can slow reloads and pinch fingers. Also as shown the mags are very hard to load especially at the top end without a loader. Not always available. That’s one main like on the EZ models for weak handed people. Finally he doesn’t say if the gun is ok with +p loads. The Ruger Max is not. Although many still do.
😃👍 S&W on a roll!
Great review as usual Sootch!
In a hot & muggy SC lowcountry summer, this firearm is perfect, in my opinion .
Just bought a BG 2.0 TS a few days ago. Fun gun. Shoots nicely. I'm going to love it. Only have a couple hundred rounds through it at this point. So far just a 100 or so rounds of Blazer 95 gr FMJ and 20 Hornaday Hydra Shok. I suppose not really enough of either to really address feed reliability BUT I had no feed problems thus far. I've had a Shield Plus for over a year and have been quite happy with it but, for me, I did not carry it much because it is still too big for my body and my clothes. I rarely felt comfortable carrying it much of the time because of printing. That's why I bought the BG 2.0. I do love the size. I have a sticky SM2 and the BG 2.0 fits very unobtrusively into my blue jean pants. I am much more comfortable carrying it most of the time.
I've had had two minor issues that I have been able to remedy. As many people have said, the gun, being new, takes a bit more effort to rack than my shield plus and my thumb safety is much tougher to manipulate than on my Shield Plus. Both issues may resolve with time I think (hope). Issue #1: I have found that with the safety 'on', I was not initially able to lock the slide back because the slide was, I believe, binding a bit on the safety mechanism. I have found that if I put some upward pull on the slide with I pull it back, it will pass over the bump and allow me to lock it back. At my range, someone also showed me that if I have the safety 'off', that I can lock the slide easily (as with my Shield Plus). Issue #2: After loading just 50 or so rounds through the 10 round mag AND the 12 round mag, I found I could not load more than two bullets and even with my my loader device, I could not get past two bullets in either mag. I discovered that the problem in both instances was that the orange followers on the front edges, the down side points of the follower were engaging the first set of round observation holes and hanging up the path of the follower. I disassembled the magazine and rounded the points a bit and back beveled them a bit. I removed a very small amount of material for both. It worked well. No more problems in maxing out the mags to capacity in that regard.
I carry my lcp2 when wearing drawstring athletic shorts with an ulticlip holster. I may look into this Smith.
does the ulticlip keep your holster in place? i hear that they wobble
