This was the perfect finale for the series. The editing was really nice, I especially adore the echo(?) sounds you used to enhance the voices in caves and at a distance. Keep up the good work :D

@@ipeedmypants420 Not really sure but I know there are spots of shallow water where you can fish but the water is too shallow to catch anything but items like Ashen Keys and such.
@@robertoaker9996 well also in certain spots you can get rare fish so you can level up hunters calling which probably needs an update tbh but ya know

Man you could really tell the amount of detail put into the editing on this one, like how when someone was talking from below deck their voice was muffled and how the voices echoed in the caves. Keep up the good work!

The moment gold hoarder said "it's gold hoarding time" I bursted out in tears
Oh man I remember fighting myself through all these tall tales and especially the final puzzles all by myself. Surely the reward would be worth it, right?
In the end, I didn't even get to hand in the skull. Immediately after leaving the red sea I got attacked by a Meg on the way to the next outpost. It kept me so busy that I didn't see the sails. I turned around the island and there was a parked galleon. Before I could turn to take my chances with the Meg they had already boarded me, killed me, took the skull and spawn camped me. And that's when I put down the game for a few weeks :D
Content like yours brought me back though! All the tales and adventures slowly had me longing for more. At least I got a decent looking jacket out of it.

A friend of mine soloed the Shores of Gold and I listened to all of this hell on Discord VC. One of our other buddies hopped in to help him during the boss battle and immediately landed the last hit on the Gold Hoarder... getting all of the credit for the voyage without any of the work. Needless to say, the first friend was royally pissed. He has been playing SoT since the Beta and this was a huge slap to the face.

I'll tell a short but cool story. Me and my mates were doing the last mission of the shores of gold but we were being tailed by a rival brig. We had not anticipated them also having the shroudbreaker and they followed us until we were breaking through the shroud fully. We were almost fully blinded by the shroudbreakers effects, we only saw red.
We fired flares to blind each other to no avail. We couldn't cannon over unless it was a deckshot and thanks to my crew, it was. The second I anchored their ship we went to town on them, winning the conflict.
We got to the Shores of Gold and completed the quest. We walked out of the Gold Hoarder's tomb feeling satisfied. We earned victory that day.

I met this guy the other day, really chill dude, we kept showing up at the same World Events and not harming each other (even though we didn’t do an alliance), and we’d just split the loot between us evenly. Anyway, I thought it was kinda funny because every time he was close by, I could just hear bass-boosted Cliff the Story Guy-videoes blasting over his microphone

I don't mean to be making fun of you, but I genuinely enjoyed the shores of gold. Completing it with my friends as we fought the Gold Hoarder was so much fun, and when we finally prevailed I actually listened and enjoyed the Pirate Lord's speech and agreed with everything he had to say. Granted I was disappointed in the amount of gold we earned, but I didn't care cuz I wasn't in for the gold on this adventure. If you do something just because of the anticipation of gold you will not have fun, and you will never be satisfied. It's not about the destination, it's about the journey.
Raid: Come now we are going to end the tall with a long exposition a cliché line and won't let you have any of the gold.

I had a very similar reaction to being told I had to leave the gold. The payout from the tall tale completion and selling the skull was not enough in my eyes.
Personally I believe a few extra trinkets scattered around the island would make it more valuable. Maybe a chest and few gold piles in each of the 4 vaults?
Its kinda funny actually "It's not about the gold, it's about the glory" said the guy who locked most of the SoT treasures in to chests that only he and his friends could unlock, so no one would steal his gold.

I love how you straightened the harpoons as if you were doing something useful
If you're going to be so sweaty as to position your harpoons in the most optimal position, then you point them straight up - the hitbox is bigger that way, and cannon balls cannot penetrate it
Good news is now you can use the shores as a troll to make reapers chase you OR chase running reapers that think they're safe because hardly anyone does TTs anymore.
However, the only way to do that is either start all the way from Morrow's or redo the tall tale (which is BETTER, trust me) and get the checkpoint. Then you could be at Marauder's Arch mid-chase and plop the TT down.

@@CliffTheStoryGuy I've seen this guy on yt called Cpt Doughnut take a FORT OF FORTUNE key and bait/troll players in Shores. He usually hides them on god-tier/obvious spots on sea forts too.

Well I enjoyed seeing you go through each tall tail and I hoped I helped even a little bit with my comments on each video and keep up the great work.

But seriously I have been loving this series and how relatable to my own SOG experience and the antics my crew got into about a year and a half ago. It was tedious to do these tall tales but always fun with friends.
Loved the series, especially with the cinematic camera and audio editing you did.
Cliff! Important! If you do actually want the curse you have to do everything single tall tale 5 times and get every single journal. It takes about 100hours of pure gameplay

Final Entry.. For this chapter
if you get the last checkpoint on all talltales you can easily cheese them (except the shores of gold) by having someone reload the game 4 times after putting it down it only takes 2 days to get the curse of gold.
I really hope this isnt the end of the Sea of tales, i love these way too much

When trying to get the gold curse me and my crew discovered a exploit using the tall tale checkpoints. As long as one member of your crew has a final chapter they can place it down and vote on it and leave, but the next time they join they will still have it because they never completed it. This can allow 3 people of your crew to get a tall tale done 5 times in 10 minutes. Just split up what tall tales you’ll get the final chapters of and then swap tall tales once you’ve completed them all and everyone in your crew can get gold curse in a weekend.
Another amazing tale! So glad to see a conclusion to the tales. I'll make it eventually but today I was just grinding the morning star with friends to work on getting gold curse

Ik I'm super late and not a lot of people will see this

Every pirate legend getting dark adventure: "it's about the gold"
as someone who has completed the Shores of Gold more than 50 times now: if you want to make it faster, do the vaults 4 times in the first run the next time you go so you don't have to do them the next time you go (just keep the medallions and slot them in on your return trips). also, try to get a server with *extremely* low ping so you don't have the spike hitbox issue. another thing I'd recommend is learning the sword-lunge skip so instead of doing all those traps you can just skip to the part where you lower the bridge. also, if your crew is fine with it, have everyone but the person going into the gold hoarder room use alt+f4 to close their games before the fight starts, then have them rejoin after he's agro (make sure not to die until they load in). this will ensure he's at single-player difficulty instead of full crew difficulty.
that's a lot of tips I am never going to use because we don't care for the gold curse
GG man, I managed to get the gold curse but it took a while and many times I got rared, and randomly attacked by tone deaf pirates

I personally love the Talltales in SoT and enjoyed my grind for the Gold Curse.... My crewmate and I do the talltales again sometimes, just for fun
you're lucky to have 2 more. it's a lot more tedious solo but if you had a chest handy, carrying all 4 tokens will be a cakewalk.

No lie, this is a great place to fish, especially if you need to grind trash (boots, hats, etc.) There's a lake in the middle where you can fish, but it's so small that fish will appear and disappear before nabbing the hook, but trash will just appear on your hook. Still takes a long time, but it works.

I gotta say we had very different experiences. Ramsey's speech is nice, especially set to Becalmed. But the best part is, once you leave the tunnel and wind up at the big row of statues and your ship is sitting there at the end with sails down (we did Shores of Gold before I learned the importance of sails up, anchor up), ready for another adventure. It was a very magical moment, and one of my fondest memories of the game.
But yeah we went there with a gold hoarder's emissary, expecting a fat lot of loot. In that regard, a little disappointing.
It's all just for fun at the end of the day, though we definitely would've liked some gold at the end of the Shores of >Gold< Saga 😞

As someone who did all tall tales for the curse SOLO! I can confirm: It's not worth it. Curse of sunken sorrow much better visually and easier to get
