This episode was actually epic and looked like a series for a while. This reminded me of all the epic battles and shenanigans I had so far. Thanks Cliff for bringing my memories back!
Cliff, I have to say this is probably the best story you've ever told on this channel so far ! The ending literally gave me a smile, I didn't expect you to wait for Akai ! gg
I really think when it comes to what Rare had in mind for the game community, you're absolutely it with all those rowboat plays, great and respectful fights, and wholesome interactions like this one!! Well played sir! all they need to add now is rowboat captaincy and you're set for life!
You are the ONLY person who would have waited for him, I personally would not, but this shows all your strenght and determination to do the right thing. Love you Cliff and I am going to wait for the next tale!
Man this is just one of those episodes. I am so glad Akai (is that how you spell it?) got his chest! The tales made by interactions are so much more interesting than those stained in blood, even if this one is also an absolute bloodbath. Absolute mad lads, both Akai and Cliff
I was literally talking about "man, cant wait for Cliff to talk about the new chest" MINUTES before this video went up, so this really makes me happy! Thanks.
This video was nothing short of an emotional roller coaster. Its like the time i went to an active FOTD while solo slooping to ally with a galleon and we stacked 7 fotds in total but got attacked secretly and nearly lost all our ships to a secret killer lurking around
Akai is a true homie. When he said “you don’t die on me” I knew this guy is a real homie. He’ll probably go through hell and back for his bros. Better have him back.
omg i remember i came into the stream while you and Akai where swimming with the chest and i was so confused as to what happened. as always there is an amazing tale waiting for cliff to tell it
Hahahah "Ok.. except for mine." With all the recent events lately, this almost brought a tear to my eye. So many barriers overcome by working together, really good stuff.
6:59 I might be stupid but I love the fog. Seeing a ship float through the fog as it burns and explodes by me and my friends hand is the greatest feeling I’ve had in this game
Uncommon Cliff W, carve it into your hearts now so you don't forget this feeling! On another note, Season 9 has been my favourite season so far since I joined back in 6. Seven may have introduced whole new progression systems and eight may have made PvP on demand a perfect end to any session, but the combination of increased player cap, QoL improvements, world event rebalances, and the fact you can finally make the cannon hit theme loud without increasing music as a whole has resulted in the most fun I've ever had in Sea of Thieves. I love enormous naval battles with each crew making split second decisions about who to fire upon and who to defend more than any other experience this game can offer, and this is delivered in spades! Also the fog is good gameplay, fight me.
So far this season I've had krakens show up mid-fight with another NPC enemy (first a skeleton sloop, then an entire phantom fleet) and sink my entire galleon twice. To make matters worse, their usual attack of sucking you up and then dunking you seems to now keep going until they outright kill you, rather than the one-and-done it used to be. I think the new changes this season are fun and have a lot of potential, but definitely need some values tweaking.
I love the fog, having a ship battle in the fog is terrifying in a good way. Not knowing where the enemy is, if they’re about to board or have run into a rock. Everything just makes you so paranoid it’s amazing
@@CliffTheStoryGuy I personally think that the fog is a double edged sword, you can use it to sneak up on your enemy or use it to hide your retreat, but that means your enemy can do the same thing
Season 9 is honestly amazing. The sheer amount of friends I’ve made, steals, fights funny interactions, and all out war between the whole server I’ve had has been insane
I had a chest of fortune steal on community weekend which involved 3 sloops and was possibly the most stressful and goofy session I have ever had and it all started by trying to do a commodity run. Season 9 is absolutely insane
Cliff stealing the chest of fortune in a 2 v 1. From being in team, negotiating with the enemy to attack his team and then the enemy join cliff in the end to sell the chest of fortune. That was an intense and awesome adventure through and through. 😊 Plus it always good to hear "my hero academia" music in the background for special occasions👍
I love that everybody is fighting over this new chest and I'm over in the corner at a shipwreck fishing for wreckers so I can get a cool-looking plaque for my boat. Lol.
Dude, your videos are so good. The pirate gameplay and the voiceover it feels like you are actually telling a story and it's so entertaining, no one else does it as good as you. Keep it up man, I hope I see you on the sea soon!🏴☠️
Ok, I thought this would turn out to be just one of the now many great stories on this channel. A story about friendship, betrayal, found treasures and loss. And Blackscreens, of course. But the sidenote to the Jailer? S-Tier-Storyteller there, putting a C-Tier-Villain where he belongs. Great one!
Omg that so fun! I laughed my ass of! Also so wholesome! Well this episode takes the crown! Time to swap my fave! Wish I was on that stream. Good work Cliff! Lot's of love to Akai!!!
Found you few days ago, watched dozens of episodes. Hopefully see you on twitch as well. Crazy good content, gotta love it, although i might run out of episodes to watch soon and i'm in distress.
I actually really like the fog. I'm not great at combat but I am good at sailing so I usually outmaneuver my opponents to avoid fights and if I can sail into a storm or fog I'm pretty much uncatchable. I also like using fogs to steal, I'm not great at going in guns blazing but stuff like fog create opportunities for me to shine with more delicate maneuvers.
Honnestly, I stumbled upon your channel a few days ago and I've been binging those stories. It just hypes me more to put money on the side to get a PC mostly for this game! Thanks for the stories man!
Had some guys offer me an alliance 2 weeks ago, they gave me a chest of fortune, chest of legends, and an ashen wind flame skull. Not to mention half of everything else, and everything was worth double that day. That was a crazy fun voyage and I hope I run into them again one day.
I just got Athena kegged, my mate buried Chest of fortune and I solo brigged in 3 mins to FOF south of Port merrick from smuggler’s bay, anchored, loaded up in 25.5s and avoided sinking 3 times duo brig, sold at sovereign and toasted the Steadfast, the most resilient brigantine in the shores of plenty. Also we got krakened 3 times on our voyage to the FOF. Rare was trying to stop me hyperventilating to death sailing at warp speed across the sea.
I've seen it a few times in the last few months where if a skeleton is holding a keg while a keg is exploded next to them, the skeleton will explode but their keg will not. Not sure if it's 100% of the time or not, but for a while there grinding for Order of Souls I felt like I could rely on it to conserve kegs.
Had a 2 brig, 2 sloop alliance on a fof, it survived as we made a deal. My brig got the chest of fortune and basically all the loot, a sloop got some skulls and a chest, the other sloop got the chest of legends and the other brig got like nothing but worked out in the end 👍
I’ve only done fof two times since they added the new chest and was able to successfully fight off the pvp hordes and sail away with the new chest, truly a new sense of satisfaction after claiming a CoF for your own.
Missed the upload due to work, but another amazing video as usual. It brought a smile to my face during a rough day. Keep up the great work cliff. I hope your days are filled with much joy.
my weak gamer heart prolly wouldnt even be able to handle getting the FIRST chest back to an outpost, let alone the actual mental torture it took to get that second one back WITH akai in tow. cliff, you actual madman, what an amazing new tale
in the community day I was trying to do the new keg mission and I saw a fotd on the horizon, I tried my luck, watching for other ships, and nobody showed up, I complete the fort and sell the chest of fortune without a emissary flag and got 50K, I imagine how much worth with a grade V emissary flag, thank you Cliff for another amazing video
I pulled a Cliff yesterday- had two brigs fighting over a fort of fortune and I yoinked all of the loot with a row boat without them noticing me, including this chest. So much fun.
Who knew all it took for PURE CHAOS to manifest itself and backstabery to insue was...... A Cosmetic Grind of 30 chests. Im sure most people would have just sold the chest, but you sir have HONOR! A True follow of the phrase "honor among thieves".
I recently got back into playing Sea of Thieves. I did a FotD and had no idea what this Chest of Fortune was. I beat fort and sold the chest uncontested. Watching this video makes me realize how lucky I was that no one attacked me.
You may hate the fog, but as a new player to the game (just recently pushed past 100hrs) and solo slooper I find it to be an incredibly effective tool for getting away from the players that turn SoT servers into tailing missions. Literally the last 4hrs of Community Weekend I had a crew stalking me while I tried to grind merchant levels, tried to fight, clearly wasnt as good as them, ran for over 90mins and eventually managed to reach fog that I couldnt see the edge of my sloop through and escaped from them. In retrospect I should have just let them sink me as I had 2 crates of tea and an emissary 1 flag but a merchant has to protect their cargo, y'know?
@@CliffTheStoryGuy It barely pushed me over the edge for the final push to Pirate Legend so Im happy with it, totally woulda just let them sink me if it weren't a community boosted event though but I still see the value of the fog! Thank you
Yeah, seeing this much action is absolute chaoes! Friend of mine who lives in Japan that I sail with often as my duo Sloop partner and I decided to try and do some World Events in Japanese/Asian servers, since they were often quiet. However, first week was more hectic than expected, and we were contested for quite a few FoFs. On the plus side, less than a month in and we're already at 6/30 Chests of Fortune (aka: Zelda Chests) & 13/30 Reaper Chests as of this comment for the Comms
That has to be one of the most wholesome and amazing Sea of Thieves stories I've ever heard. You sir, are a legend! It has made me reinstall the game and you've earned another subscriber. Kudos to you!
Shedding a tear for the big Flameheart in the sky never to be back with the fleet :"( Was hoping that the resurrection of him would cause him to come back in that way, but hopefully Rare have a better use for his return that will be even better.
Epic vid! Btw what's the music used at 16:34? It might be from the anime (Haikyuu) I'm not to sure. Also btw btw nice at 18:02 with the heartwarming (Haikyuu) music right there❤
its nice to see something like this in SoT. When i encounter other players its always that they instantly sweat me with 3 guys even tho i just have 1 chest and 2 skulls they just camp me till i come out of a treasury or attack me when i do a quick seafort thats nearby. Its not about fighting over loot its just about to fck someone up and givig a bad time
I remember playing in a server filled with PvP brigs and galleons while me and my friend were slooping; the island where this chest would spawn was with 3-4 ships larger than ours but they were fighting eachother so my friend, who is very good at the game, just said to me that he will do the waves of skeletons to spawn the chest while i was on the ship running from others. He completed the island waves, and the chest spawned but a brig started chasing us and me and my friend were too far (he on the island, myself on the ship running from a brig). The plan was to pick him up and run for the sneaky sell the chest. However the brig cought me while my friend was dying from a shark (he couldn't dodge it :| ), so he and myself died. Then the plan was to go back to where he died in the sea, steal the chest and make a run. After 10 minutes of looking ou for the chest in the water, we found it and set sail to the nearest outpost. WE SOLD IT! After that of course we went back to the massacre and started yelling that we sold it. The brig was pissed as they were looking for it, other ships, well they were busy fighting.
It's incredible how sought over the new chest is. I've been lucky that the past 3 FoFs have been all to myself but I expect that to change. I also sold one of the chests during community day with gold 5 emissary and I got 120k from the Fortune chest... which was amazingly ridiculous
Man, just today, i was sinking some skelly ships for hourglass pvp (which i suck at.) And i managed to get the chest of fortune. I was hyped, so i went to the reapers hideout for an emmisary and to sell it, but i saw a grade 5 reaper galleon. I knew what was about to happen, so i tried to make peace until they shot at me, so i ran. (Note: i was a solo sloop.) I was almost at the hideout until they killed me. They sunk me and stole me stuff. They let me live and take my storage crate and run. I buried my crate and then went to my ship, i tried to head back with my ship, but then the galleon just sat at the hideout, so i waited for 10-20 minutes until they left. I went over and got my storage and emmisary and dove into the hourglass matchmaking. I lost the pvp and then got off.
Sea of Thieves isn’t just a game, it’s a community where you can meet so many real people who all have their own personality and you can never know who to trust
Yesterday I had 5 sloops on ONE FoF! (Including my friend and our sloop) It was crazy, We managed to steal a CoL, while the first people at the fort got the CoF.. Even a hacker came and teleported our loot off the boat multiple times, In the end we got her. But it was super fun, been loving this season!
The video and story that you've told was amazing! So intense and dramatic at the moments. All of those aliances and betrayals! I have no words to describe my feelings. Ohh... thank you so much for this experience.
I was going about my day when a FoF rolled out and I went out to try and clear it but two sloops turned up but rather than put me out of my misery, they went out on a fight between each other. They both sunk the first time, second time was a drawn out battle. I should've got myself a rowboat, get onto the island, clear the fort and make dash for the Chest of Fortune and Legend and leave either sloop shallow pocketed.
I think this is a great place to tell my inspirational story so... i did the Fort of the Damned with my brother and succeeded even though other people tried to stop us... oh and he only played for like 2 hours before that, if he can do it, anyone can do it too, never loose sight of the treasure!
Whooo! New Chest! New Vid! I have decided to name this new chest Fred. This update is one of the best ones yet! Ive sold 4 as of now. im on schedule XD Also, keep up the good work Cliff! I hope to come across you one day on the seas! XD
this is actually so true, I have litteraly popped 3 frtune sells because every time I get kegged or a fates of fortune galleon pulls up and smokes me with there flintlocks
First time trying the FoF solo: Gets rolled up on by a brig on the Ashen Lord. Second time in Season 12 trying a FoF solo: Wasn't planned. Only attempted because it spawned next to a seafort I was doing. Not contested. Nearly lost everything on my way to an outlost because of a persistant skelesloop that kep skirting just outside my cannon angle
I have a story from community weekend, so I was going to a fof when I saw that someone was there with an alliance flag, we decided to "help them and join their alliance" but at the end we betrayed them with a Athena keg blowing up their ship, they proceeded to get a galleon and go back on our server with a new ship that was bigger and after they still lost they left and became toxic in our DMS, it was a fun event and there were many other battles that happened but we sold the Chest of Fortune along with a lot of loot we stacked up, it ended up adding up to a total of 1 million coins in one session, and the Chest of Fortune was 1/10 of that total, so yeah that's my story, how was it?
OHHH YOU MADE A VIDEO OUT OF IT ?! freaking awessome :D

Shedding a tear for the big Flameheart in the sky never to be back with the fleet :"( Was hoping that the resurrection of him would cause him to come back in that way, but hopefully Rare have a better use for his return that will be even better.
rip bobble head
@@CliffTheStoryGuy gone, but never forgotten :")
Honestly, I thought you'll have like a fair duel with Akai or something for the chest. I didn't expect the wholesome ending
After what happened, Akai had truly earned it
Such a cool episode 😆 really entertaining and honorable you waited for him.
Epic vid! Btw what's the music used at 16:34?
It might be from the anime (Haikyuu) I'm not to sure.
Also btw btw nice at 18:02 with the heartwarming (Haikyuu) music right there❤
LOL the great British bake off music @13:36. Props mate
its nice to see something like this in SoT.
That is wild
As soon as I got the notification that there was a new video I watched it straight away love ur videos
there is a exam tomorrow and I am here with my popcorn waitimg for my favorite micro celeb pirate cliff to upload
MAKE SURE YOU STUDY FOR IT BAKI
@@CliffTheStoryGuy germanese is not easy man
Sorry for commenting twice but this has to be one of the most nerve racking tales yet 20/10 would recommend sticking around till the end
Been waiting for this incredible stream story
one of the most emotional and wholesome stories ever, best ending.
Sea of Thieves isn’t just a game, it’s a community where you can meet so many real people who all have their own personality and you can never know who to trust
I love how his first session of the season was exactly as mine
I rember this live, it was such a rollercoaster of emotions
Yesterday I had 5 sloops on ONE FoF! (Including my friend and our sloop) It was crazy, We managed to steal a CoL, while the first people at the fort got the CoF.. Even a hacker came and teleported our loot off the boat multiple times, In the end we got her. But it was super fun, been loving this season!
This could’ve been a movie
every episode is greater than the previous one! Super entertaining!
cliff, you actually make every normal SoT encounter and what not so interesting and im addicted to your content
The video and story that you've told was amazing! So intense and dramatic at the moments. All of those aliances and betrayals! I have no words to describe my feelings. Ohh... thank you so much for this experience.
Fog really is a pain but it just makes things so much more interesting! And adds too content haha
You’re so goated for waiting for akai, anyone else would’ve sold. King behavior right there
I was going about my day when a FoF rolled out and I went out to try and clear it but two sloops turned up but rather than put me out of my misery, they went out on a fight between each other. They both sunk the first time, second time was a drawn out battle. I should've got myself a rowboat, get onto the island, clear the fort and make dash for the Chest of Fortune and Legend and leave either sloop shallow pocketed.
Rowboat is always the solution
@@CliffTheStoryGuy unfortunately, rowboat did not heed my call
This stream was nuts, I've been waiting for this ep
I think this is a great place to tell my inspirational story so... i did the Fort of the Damned with my brother and succeeded even though other people tried to stop us... oh and he only played for like 2 hours before that, if he can do it, anyone can do it too, never loose sight of the treasure!
Whooo! New Chest! New Vid! I have decided to name this new chest Fred. This update is one of the best ones yet! Ive sold 4 as of now. im on schedule XD
Also, keep up the good work Cliff! I hope to come across you one day on the seas! XD
this is actually so true, I have litteraly popped 3 frtune sells because every time I get kegged or a fates of fortune galleon pulls up and smokes me with there flintlocks
First time trying the FoF solo:
Gets rolled up on by a brig on the Ashen Lord.
Second time in Season 12 trying a FoF solo:
Wasn't planned.
