It's impressive how the Nintendo Switch can actually run this game considering it was only on the newer generation consoles at first. I can tell they put a lot of effort into optimizing Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch.
I bought Hogwarts Legacy Switch $42 early this weekend and I CAN'T STOP PLAYING. Only slightly more than 2 days, I already played 24 hours at level 24 ❤❤❤. The most amazing big open world yet on the Switch. Graphics are amazing at respectable 30fps. I like just walking inside the castle, it's so huge, beautiful & full of surprises ❤❤❤

But I will applaud them for finding a way to port the game. I honestly see them releasing it on Nintendo's successor as a launch title. The definitive version like what the ps5/PC and Xbox got.
I have a switch lite and it looks good on a portable handheld version because the resolution isn't over extended on the small screen. I also have this game on PS4. The fact I can run this game on a tiny handheld console and it looks decent is kind of amazing.
And yet PS4 has great looking titles like Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, The Last of Us Part 2, Death Stranding, Detroit: Become Human, Beyond Two Souls, Uncharted 4, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Killzone Shadow Fall, Infamous, The Order 1886, Ratchet & Clank, Until Dawn, Spider-Man, Resident Evil 7, Kingdom Hearts III...etc which all leaves Switch behind in the graphics department.
And yet the Switch has AMAZING looking titles in spite of its "limitations" that sell way more like the legend of zelda tears of the kingdom, mk8 deluxe, luigi's mansion, super mario odyssey, astral chain, xenoblade chronicles 1, 2 and 3, the legend of zelda breath of wild, kirby and the forgotten land, smash bros ultimate, super mario 3d world, yoshi's crafted world, pikmin 4, super mario wonder, super mario rpg, the legend of zelda link's awakening, mario strikers, and mario tennis. I don't understand Harry Potter at all, but even with the downgrades this is without a doubt the most impressive port the Switch has ever received in its entire life. They basically put an open-world game that on PC requires at least triple the hardware that the Switch has to offer and that struggles to run even on a Steam Deck running reasonably well on the Switch, that's not a small job at all. Even the old-gen version (PS4 and Xbox One) had to be postponed to have more time to prepare the port and even so it had some very notable downgrades, the fact that it runs on the Switch at all is impressive.
I really like that image in minute 3:33, the image on the left, (Switch version) seems to have depth and distance between the grown grass and that pine tree in the background, but on the right image, (ps version) that grass and the pine tree on the background seems to be placed at the same distance, almost as if they were painted on a wall behind Harry (could someone please check and comment my usage of on/in and at ?) maybe the correct way is at minute 3 instead of in.
I think it is pretty good if you only play in handheld, but it is not the best experience if you play on tv, of course everybody knows that and don't care.
Playing Hogwarts Legacy on PS5 with performance mode selected is definitely the way to go. FPS is KING, trust me. It’s like getting a bit of ice cream with sprinkles, or getting twice the ice cream but no sprinkles. Sprinkles are nice, but not worth only getting half the ice cream. Sprinkles is 4k ray tracing, and double the ice cream is performance mode. You gotta ask yourself, are the sprinkles worth it?
Bro first of all, get far in the game on the switch before you compare it other versions which you finished I assume.. Second thing, people who compare Nintendo’s graphic quality or realism of the open world, the models etc and cry about it simply DO NOT understand Nintendo’s products, DO NOT understand Nintendo’s consoles idea and DO NOT understand their art direction at all. Gamecube was way more powerful hardware wise than the PS2 and was on par with the Xbox, guess which one sold more? Heck the Switch is on it’s way to be the best selling console of all time and it’s a handheld with older tech, but they know how to fully approach this tech and create just a little bunch (XD) of games that are exclusive 😁
And to have HL on that? It’s fire. It’s successful enough and accessible enough in price to the casual gamer therefore a huge reason for any third party to invest, the next hardware by Nintendo will also have a trillion exclusive AAA titles and all third party games will be there if it will be popular. They use older tech to make it portable, to make the battery life last cause A PS4 Pro horse power on a handheld for example will make the battery last for 1 hour max. And it wouldn’t be able to make profit since production is way more expensive than ya’ll think to make this tech in portable mode plus a TV chip, Also, as the PS2 example shown, it what works best, to make the console interesting and not just the most powerful, PS2 was weaker than competitors but won in every other way, same is the switch by nintendo now, I remind you that they Invented consoles, so their approach has reason.
