In cyprus we have smooth masonry walls, which are always chalky. So personally before I paint, I have to sand the wall down, use a blower or hose it down to get the dust off, then fill cracks, sand again, clean, 2 coats primer or stabiliser by dulux, then I can finally paint.
We have the same stuff down under, called bondcrete, we sometimes mix it with paints and also if we want a really stronger cement or render mix we add this stuff to it. Amazing stuff.
PPG has a primer called gripper that is great but I think a little Overkill and not cost-effective... most of the time when it comes to rough stucco, OU's a617 and backroll the whole house and then come back to where I originally started and put on a good fog coat... 2 coats dry, lots of paint...SW super paint usually.... My jobs still look good, 10years later...
Juan.... you are a pro… Therefore, you know that people don’t listen to you when you tell them what to do… I told the cameraman, do not put the camera Low. I even think I told him don’t let it show my waiste. What can I do.
Would you put this directly on wood? If so, would you then prime, then top coat or go straight from the sealer coat to top coat? I have cedar siding that the previous owner painted and it's peeling off....I'm fixing to strip it and have to repaint it and I want my work to bond super strong.
yes you can get a dirt repellent but never used it so don't know how well fresh paint would adhere to it my guess is that would make it more costly if you ever wanted to change the colour.
I have wood sidding, and the wood cracks all over like small lines, no matter how many time I paint it the paint breaks as the wood reacts to the weather, another word the wood expands in hot weather which I think it causes the paint to break/crack. I was thinking paint it with silicone paint might solve the problem. Any suggestions?
No I’m sorry; use the bonding agent and then use a high-quality paint with a primer; you should be spending about US$45 per gallon on a good quality exterior paint that has primer in it. Anywhere between $45 and $65
Getting ready to put a new roof on the house. Immediately after I’ll need to paint - block house, wood fascia. Would this be ok for the fascia as well or just use a regular primer?
Can you spray that on, since it is so watery? What’s a good paint machine to get for a do it your welder who is maintaining 6 investment properties and may take on small jobs of friends n family?
Is this being used in place of using a primer? I am painting my house yellow, over the top of yellow paint and it is wood siding that is about 70 years old. The last time we paint was 18 years ago, two coats of Kilz primer and two coats of Glidden Endurance. After painting the house basically 4 times, if there is a step I could cut out I would appreciate it!
Here’s what you want to do; have that substance checked out… Break a piece off and have it checked out to see what it really is; do you think it’s a fungus but you could be wrong. Then, I would use a mixture of bleach and water to clean the surface. Make sure you than power wash it, let it dry and then proceed as in the video
I have a question, Is a power wash required under whatever circumstance? The person we hired is telling us its not necessay if the house is no depricated. Is that true?
I am using sherwin-Williams emerald rain refresh on a stucco house in Cincinnati Ohio. Would the correct Sherwin-Williams product be called Loxon acrylic conditioner? The stucco Has been painted previously and of course is past due for a painting. I will power wash and scrape but wanted the best adhesion for the paint. I saw your video and wanted to take your advice but was having a hard time figuring out what the proper Sherwin-Williams equivalent to the PPG permit crate product you were using in the video. Thank you.
Would I be OK using the PPG product with my Sherwin-Williams paint on top of it? Also when I look up the Perma-Crete 4-808 on the PPG website it brings up a product with the number 4-0000 instead. Is this the same product that you are using with just a new number? Thank you.
@@duaneheadworth6275 don’t fret. You’re fine. Yes. Use your product over it! Also. Re the number of the product they’re using now re. That number...Pull it up, they may be using a new substance with a different number after discontinuing the one. Just make sure it is used for your application. All you are looking to do is to 1st power wash and then to lock down the surface with a durable sealer that will give your paint “bite “
@@ofthewoods137 In 2006 my father died and my mother and I painted our entire house together. I looked at Consumer Reports and found out the best paint they suggested was Glidden Endurance paint (there was no primer in paint at that time). We prepped the house and fixed each wall of peeling paint or cracks etc. We washed it really well and applied 2 coats of Kilz primer by brush (she didn't like rollers and it was wood siding}. So we worked on each side of the house finishing each side as we went. So it is two coats primer and two coats paint. It is a lot of work and she drove me a little crazy but that paint job lasted 18 years! Right now there are a few peeling spots on the hot sunny side, but the rest of the house still looks good except faded. Glidden paint was bought by PPG. It is hard to find Endurance Paint now, but it was hard in 2006 as well. I would suggest this paint to anyone, we have had such good luck with it. Going through all the laborious steps my mother put me through was tough but it is a laborious job no matter what and if you do it right the first time it will be a long time before you have to do it again!!! I am 72 and starting the entire job again and for me this will be the last time!
Check out kirk Giordano plastering on TH-cam and please tell him that Spencer told you to consult with him; give him a call and that man will call you back; he is the best man to ask. Good luck
My house has a similar texture but the previous owner used an oil based paint on the exterior. (Last painted in the 60's 😅) Do you know what primer would be best before I topcoat with latex paint ? thanks.
You sound like Christopher walken the actor! You get a sub just for that lol. 👍
You’re talking to him all wrong..
😂😂😂😂 you’re right I’ve just noticed
Sounds just like him!
😂
1000 percent!

Good day Spencer, that video was extremely beneficial and helpful,we appreciate your channel my friend...thank you

Seal krete is a chalk sealer and primer and a paint conditioner. They have multiple products.

You kind of sound like Christopher Walken. Lol. Thanks for the tips
Great help, thanks !
most of us in U.K. would use a clear oil sealer or a oil based rubber based paint which is self sealing and alkali resisting
That’s interesting.
This guy sounds like Christopher Walken... I like it.
Incredible Speaker
Great information
... means two coats extra for the house - lots of work and customers won't pay for it. Handyman.
Painting with the Loafers on huh Spence 😊

@@spencercolgan hahahha not even the camera man listens, that shoe will be a custom finish when your done painting
I would still power, wash the house first or dry, then use this as primer
How long does it take to dry? Or do you paint right after you apply this?
1 year later… no answer
Great video
It's called a stabiliser in the UK here,
Both are good brands but its interesting that you recommend PPG for under and Sherwin Williams for top. (in comments)

Is there a material that can preserve exterior paint from dirt and dust so that it would remain clean whenever it is water-washed. Thanks
yes you can get a dirt repellent but never used it so don't know how well fresh paint would adhere to it my guess is that would make it more costly if you ever wanted to change the colour.
Prep the surface good and switch to an elastomeric paint. It is a bit shiny but holds up for a long time.

This would indeed be good!
How long after applying can you paint?
most folks don't prime the surface or even wash it down
thanks hey,,, i will tell my boss about this
Can you put this stuff in a paint sprayer and spray it instead of rolling it on?
Thank you sir
Can you spray that on, since it is so watery?
What’s a good paint machine to get for a do it your welder who is maintaining 6 investment properties and may take on small jobs of friends n family?
Yes. Easy to spray it on.
Get a Graco 395 or a titan 440.
Thanks.

Has this product been discontinued? I am having trouble finding it. What would be a good replacement?
Looking for something to cover the cinder block wall....
Sherwin Williams Loxon. The best.
can we use it on the wood ,s body of the exterior houses in north America as primer
