    I used this in my bathroom. For the countertop, I started with cement board over plywood. I cut out for my sink and then sprayed the cement board. For a top coat, I used the clear I use when I paint autos, which is my business. I installed it and put in my sink. I also cut out a back splash and did the same with it. It’s been about 5 years and looks like it was just done.

      I'm just totally inspired with it. The trouble is him. HE makes it look so much fun and easy, though as a renovator I do see the surrounding handy skills required. I've decided on the perfect place to practice with epoxy: my internal doors! I'll remove each door, prepare it, and practice different themes. the great thing is that if the theme fails, I can easily sand it back enough and try again.

      I'm looking at my moms phone, I'm a Carpenter and I see alot of people do cool projects and look great but there are things you just don't consider without learning lessons from experience in different jobs. People think that tradesmen can do it so can I. These videos make things look so easy they don't show or tell you everything. Don't be afraid to talk to pros and ask questions. Is there something I should consider? Can this be done right by someone with limited experience? Also take your time and look for someone qualified who is willing to do the job at a price you can afford. But be mindful if uninsured and no contract you could get in another mess. Talk to people who have used someone who gave them a more affordable deal. Get your cost figured out of exactly what you want and save or make a budget if you don't have the cash available. Remember its no fun paying for something 2-3 times. Alot of us learn the hard way. Im a Carpenter and can complicate my life playing auto mechanic. 👍 Good luck in future !

    Epoxy is traditionally known to yellow over time. What prevents your epoxy from yellowing? I'm assuming, by your use of a torch, this is a water based epoxy? How well does your epoxy hold up to scratches and stains compared to an aliphatic urethane?

    • @frankunderwood8357
      @frankunderwood8357 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always thought it was polyester resin that tends to yellow, not epoxy resin. Could be wrong though.

    • @TheBeaker59
      @TheBeaker59 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not water based its 100% solids so no solvent to burn. It will yellow for sure though not as bad as most epoxies actually not such a big deal, it will however scratch more than most countertop finishes. Guess its an acceptable level of scratching if you are careful but you have to be careful.

    • @Jungle-Boogie
      @Jungle-Boogie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@frankunderwood8357 All epoxy will yellow (or amber) over time. Every single one. Especially when exposed to UV light. Some manufacturers use UV additives to mask the color change, but that can still only temporarily halt the inevitable. If you are coating your countertops, it is always best to choose very dark colors so that the yellowing effect is less visible. Additionally, a top coat of a dual stage urethane will help prevent the yellowing effect in your colorized undercoat, which should be epoxy due to it's adhesive qualities.
