    I was all ready to make the rhubarb/strawberry cake but my grocery store had no rhubarb. HOWEVER, I substituted 1 cup of frozen cranberries and it was delicious! Right color + correct amount of unsweet fruitiness. Definitely a win!

    Instead of pouring melted butter over cake, take cold butter and shred it on the large holes of a box grater then place all over cake. I shred cold butter when I need it to come to room temperature quickly.

      Good idea! Leave the wrapper on, peel it back, and use the markings on the wrapper to measure quantity.

    Thanks for this video! I know when I make one of Carolyn's recipes, I won't be wasting my money. Keto ingredients are not cheap and thru the years, I have thrown out so many desserts.

    I made an apple dump cake recently using the swerve vanilla cake mix and it was FANTASTIC! Definitely more expensive, but so much more convenient.
    Pro tip: Melt your butter, mix it with your cake mix, and then spread it out over your filling with your hands. It made a big difference in my kitchen with getting a golden crust

      @ Shannon Garrett,.. thanks for the tip. Before lowcarb lifestyle, I made dump cakes with a cake mix. Not done so much with lowcarb recipes. To me a dump cake is dumping already combined ingredients. Always loved the convenience of that method. I always thought it could be done. I'm definitely trying this.

    My older sister loves rhubarb and as kids, always asked our country grandmother for rhubarb pie. I refused it, no way was I eating red celery pie. In my late 30's I finally decided to try. What?! I hated myself for being so stubborn all my life. Sadly too late to sample my grandmother's, but I can and will make this recipe. Thank you!

    These both look so good, but I'll be trying the Keto Strawberry Rhubarb Dump Cake first! When I was just a little girl, my grandfather was diabetic and my grandmother would make a strawberry/rhubarb cobbler, using liquid Sweet 'n Low (cyclamate, at the time). That cobbler as well as her pumpkin pie were the only 2 desserts where there was absolutely no aftertaste. I'd never run across Carolyn's version before, so I'm awfully glad you did. I have a feeling the taste will take me back in time.
    P.S. She made iced tea with saccharin, and I despised it! 😄

    My idea is to try the blueberry dump cake but swapping out raspberries in place of the blueberries, that would cut way way down on the carbs.

    I'm going to have to try both of these now! I think I may substitute lemon zest for cinnamon in the blueberry. Thank you for making this video (and all of your others).

      @@Lucinda_Jackson My favorite is the chefs knife and I use it and the paring knife the most. All of the knives are excellent. Funny thing is that if I were just to buy one, I probably wouldn't have bought the chefs knife because I had an excellent one. I got the set and I like this a lot more, wouldn't trade it for anything! Now to replace my pans....

    Oh man! I never thought of making dump cake keto! Heck, this would even be a good breakfast! Something I realized about low carb is that most anything can be eaten for any meal as long as I have lots of protein.     My day got better as soon as your video notification popped up! Thank you for making Carolyn's recipe. I've been wanting to try it but there is absolutely NO rhubarb in my city fresh or frozen. My grandma made the best strawberry rhubarb cobbler and I miss having that flavor. I have enjoyed every recipe of Carolyn's that I've made and I'm sure this is amazing as well.     I used to love dump cakes pre-keto (perhaps a bit too much 😆). Never thought it possible to do on keto. I’ll be checking these out. I always did the sliced butter on top method - easier, less messy and one less dish to clean.

    The part of the knife you're referring to is called the "tang." When the "tang" runs the full length of the handle and is sandwiched in there properly it's called, "Full bore tang." You're welcome. LOL! ;) FTR, full-tang knives are superior and more durable.

    I just made the blueberry. I made strawberry blueberry blackberry I didn’t have coconut flour so I made it with almond flour and put coconut flakes on top. Mg crust was non existent other then the coconut flakes but it was SOOOO GOOD! I had it with a little homemade whipped cream with sweetener. Amazing! I definitely ate like 3 servings 😂

    I make dump cake recipes at work all the time because it only takes me 10 minutes to do. Of course those are full carb because my residents aren't on a keto diet like me haha

    I've been using boxed cake mix for my dump cake's topping. Looking forward to tying these.
    One technique I use is to mix 1/4-1/2 of the topping in with the fruit to thicken it up. Also use the sliced butter (instead of melted) since that makes it easier to get full coverage.

    Rhubarb is *NOT a fruit!* It's a perennial *spring vegetable* plant. So it's a seasonal vegetable. And it's very sour. That's why we mix it with strawberry and lots of sugar! Or another sweetener.

      And tomato is a fruit and we generally refer to it as a veggie because we’re not speaking in a botanical sense. We’re speaking in a culinary sense based on how it’s being used. And rhubarb is used like a fruit while tomatoes are used like a veggie.

    I've used lupin flour flakes in meatloaf. Because I use to use oatmeal in my meatloaf.

    I have the entire set of Misen knives. At first I cut the hell out of myself due to my previously dull ones. I will say that after some use I had to get them professionally sharpened since I didn't have a hone. The long bread knife is spectacular and cuts thru bread, chicken, beef and any and all veggies.

    Dump Cakes are best served in a bowl with a spoon, looks so good.

    These both look delicious... although hubby is allergic to strawberries, so that one would be out for us. However, the first "flour mix" would go with pretty much any fruit, so I might just have to make this with... :-D The second "flour mix" isn't meant to be crunchy, so a "dump cake" made with it and fruit would be perfect with low carb ice cream. Who am I kidding? They'd both be great with low carb ice cream! Mmm...

      I’d eat the heck out of that second one with some cream poured over it like a cobbler or shortcake! I guess that’s pretty much the same as melted ice cream! 😂

    Since the serving size is smaller for the strawberry rhubarb, the carb count is much closer to the count for the blueberry one... especially when one takes a real serving.

    Instead of using melted butter I take frozen butter and use a grater.

    So glad you did the dump cake recipe.! Yippee skippy! I’d much rather use the almond flour recipe than the sugar free box mix( although nobody believes me when I tell them that the Pillsbury mix is sugar free).
