My most respected sith lord, the top and most authoritive and intellegent Sith lord, and above all the one true sith leader of all of koroban. He is the very definition of what the sith empire had and needed back then and now. He was the one person who could show and give and example of what the sith could've have been, but not brutal, vile, twisted, and mad tyrants. He was a true sith leader, a true example of what the sith empire could have been, and probably the only one i look up too as of now this day.

I love how you could quite literally hear him grinding his teeth if you got a bit too uppity with him, but he still reigned in his anger.
At one point as a bounty hunter you can call him out on all of the backstabbing the Sith deal in, and how, if they'd hire you to kill as many Jedi as you've killed rogue Sith Lords, the Empire would have won the war by now. His reply? "Your tone is not appreciated. Your sentiment is correct."
You can hear him seething with anger about this, but he doesn't even strangle you a bit like most Sith Lords would. Swell guy.

"The will of the Force is a flowing current. You can follow it, or fight it, but it is always there. It is not an ally, slave, or transaction. The Force is a paradox. It empowers and imprisons. It destroys and unites. It binds the galaxy together and tears people apart. It has a will... but needs a commander. There is no death, there is only the Force. And it has a plan ".
" Let another claim the throne. My place is in the battlefield".
    - Darth Marr
Man is trully the gigachad of the dark council. When the others sith would slice each other to achieve personal gain, he instead did the opposite thing, tried to stabilize the Empire and make it prosper, with no intention to gave himself more power. Interestingly, Marr is trully respected the Jedi so much, not only that he worked with Satele Shan to help the outlander, but long before that when his fleet and republic's fleet got trapped to fight each other in Rishi by the Revanite, he actually bowed to Satele when they meet the first time to talked a peace and alliance againts the Revanite.

    • @PhycoKrusk
      @PhycoKrusk ปีที่แล้ว +11

Marr saw the bigger picture. Of course he was trying to get more power for himself; he simply recognized that in the course of gathering more power for the Empire, he would naturally gather more for himself at the same time, and by stabilizing the Empire, he would ensure he could more easily hold that power.
Plus, a stable Empire meant that the citizens wouldn't be so inclined to revolt, again making it easier to gather and hold power. Darth Marr was the epitome of working smarter.

More than anything he was the sith that overcame the 1 thing any conventional sith fears: death. He didn't fear or try to cheat or overcome death, he embraced it and saw it as inevitable. That combined with a realistic view of his opponents in the jedi as capable warriors instead of a bunch of weaklings made himself a much better warrior than most other sith.

The problem is George Lucas was all over the place. He took from Taoist belief. It might of been stolen from either Japanese movies or from Phillip K Dick. But he didn't quite understood it, and try to add good and evil. the light and dark side does not equate to good or evil in Taoism though. Others who help him write try to bring it back to the true Taoist belief. This is why the explanation of the force is fractured.
But Notice some of the statements state, they need balance in the force. Remember Dooku was the smartest of the Jedi and left, and he taught Gui Gonn Jinn, which is the one who keeps talking about the prophesy of balance of the force. Which means that the dark side isn't really evil, but the issue is the lack of balance in the force.
also this is not the only other instance of good dark sider. In the video game which stared the red headed actor from Gotham and shameless, Mirrin is a night witch from Dathomere, that is good. They are making a sequal to the movie. Hopeful Ashoka will deal with this as well. Remember, she left the Jedi and not in good terms.

@@slewone4905 Exactly, the force is just like any aspect in real life, you have the extremes and there is a middle, that is why the idea of the High Republic era is not appealing to me at all, I want to see a more nuanced take on the force/force users which doesn't paint the force in black and white only.

Scourge could rather easily cleave his way through even numerous Sith, so I wonder if Lord Marr was actually better than Scourge, or if the two simply avoided a conflict for the good if the Empire?

Kel'eth Ur was a Human male and former Sith Lord of the reconstituted Sith Empire who resided on Dromund Kaas. By the end of his life, he taught that passion only led to temporary strength and that true strength was found in peace - a philosophy conventionally associated with the Jedi. In 4606 BBY, he was killed by the Emperor for his heresy - From his holocron: "...It's a lie. Fear is a lie. Passion, a lie. Fear gives only temporary powers, and passion is easily manipulated. Real strength in the Force comes when one is no longer afraid..." - SWTOR

darth marr, the man, the sith, the legend. his legacy survived through the jedi and the republic in the end. If he had survived the war the eternal empire, he would have become emperor like wave said, ushered in a new golden age, maybe even changing sithphilosophy in a way.
His sithlegacy was destroyed the moment he died, ironic that in that moment he accepted part of the jedicode, the force granting him becoming a force ghost, so his knowledge could be passed on to someone who was worthy. But even in death, his identity was his.

Darth Marr is someone who never does anything without a purpose, even his more cruel acts have a purpose to them. And unlike most Sith he doesn’t seek greater power just for power’s sake but rather seeks power to use as a more effective tool to serve what he perceives as the greater good. He wasn’t hampered by greed or ego and even in his final moments stayed true to his convictions. If I was a Jedi Darth Marr would be someone that while I disagree with I would ultimately respect him for his convictions to his cause regardless of whether I agreed with him or not. So few people both in Star Wars and in real life have that level of conviction and that’s something that should be respected.

i think i've stated this before in regards to Galen but the dark side can be tamed and controlled. the problem is that the things that empower those who use it (greed, selfish acts, lust for power, etc) also empowers the corrupting nature of the dark side. but you have to look deeper. far deeper than any beliefs and look at what the force itself is on a fundumental level. it is the energy of the universe. its will if you like. but its not static. it ebbs and flows. places that are completely neutral within the force tend to be innert. little, if anything, happens there. but there are currents. flows. sources and sinks. places that foster growth and life are rich in the force. places that that that are harsh and barren fosters change and it is that change that is seen as corruption. as the dark side. but then you have places like Dagobah. it was, by all accounts, a "darkside aligned" planet. but why? it had abundant life. it had no native intelegent life. and yet it was "evil"? how? why? change. though vibrant, the planet was in fact in a state of perpetual regrowth due to the harsh nature of its ecosystem. and yet the planet was never corrupted like places such as Dathomer. why is that. because there was no ill will. there was no greed or lust for power or grand ambitions. things did as much as they needed to to survive. no more. no less. then never took from the land. only borrowed, returning it once they died. so why this tangent about a planet? well, think about it. why do most people reach out to the dark side? because they have been tempted with power. now. why did Galen reach out to the dark side? because its all he knew. he was only trying to survive. he didn't want to overthrow Palpatine. he didn't want to rule the galaxy. he just followed his instincts. as such the dark side had very little to corrupt. in fact its only in the dark side endings of both games that it ever does corrupt him and thats because he gives into selfish emotions of revenge. granted this did make him less powerful in the darkside but it meant that he had more control over the power he did have. the same is true of Darth Marr. he had emotions, but he knew how to temper them. more to the point he did not act selfishly, just cruelly; but never without good reason. the light and dark sides of the force are two parts of the same whole. life and death. good and evil. stability and change. its a ballet. there is no reason a jedi cant be selfish nor a sith selfless. it is about how they go about this that changes things. the council acted selfishly in the prequals, oppting to ignore the warnings of a sith. likewise Galen and Marr acted selflessly, not only in self sacrafice but in principle. Galen's motivations were only ever to protect those he cared about. he did nor care about the disruption he caused in his wake. he promoted change and perpetuated the flow of the force. Marr had respect for life and death. he understood their pourpose and the cost of taking it unjustly. a warrior goes to their fate knowingly and willingly (in theory). but a simple farmer startled by your fearful presence and raises their tool it defence? they are only doing as their instinct drives them to in self presevation. there's no need to kill them or even react. it seems that Marr may have been like this. he went with the "flow" of the force and promoted change where he went. all while remaining still within the flow. it is the same stillness that a jedi must have to transcend. its not about the light or the dark. its about being certain of who you are and at peace with your past and at ease with the future you left behind. something a typical sith can never do, due to their desire to gain more and more. but when you act beyond yourself alone you become something more than most could ever comprehend. you become one with the force. the ebb and flow of the galaxy. the constant cycle of life and death. only when you can stop and see that flow can you step beyond it, and walk to the river bank.

I know ALOT of people will not agree but it seems to me that he would be like a Qui-Gon Jinn type but more so of the sith way of thinking instead of jedi as he turned into a force ghost by the time he passed. I may be COMPLETELY wrong in my thinking though as I wouldn't know the full story of him

Here is a question to anyone in the comments who replaced Darth Marr on the dark council after his death, at the hands of the emperor of the eternal empire, I believe that it was Darth Crowbush, because she was a tactician and just a skilled Darth Marr what is during his legendary life
