    I am Catholic, however I love several British and American sacred hymns, most of which are protestant. Let's all be united in the King of kings, the General of generals, the Master of the universe. God bless us all.

      in the Protestant tradition, which is mostly English and German chorale.

      Well, obviously Protestants didnt throw out everything in Catholicism. But the hymn tradition as seen in Protestant services is overwhelmingly a Protestant observance.
      Mass is liturgical.

    Guide me, O thou great Redeemer,
    pilgrim through this barren land;
    I am weak, but thou art mighty;
    hold me with thy powerful hand:
    bread of heaven, bread of heaven,
    feed me now and evermore,
    feed me now and evermore.
    2. Open now the crystal fountain,
    whence the healing stream doth flow;
    let the fire and cloudy pillar
    lead me all my journey through:
    strong deliverer, strong deliverer,
    be thou still my strength and shield;
    be thou still my strength and shield.
    3. When I tread the verge of Jordan,
    bid my anxious fears subside;
    death of death, and hell's destruction,
    land me safe on Canaan's side:
    songs of praises, songs of praises,
    I will ever give to thee,
    I will ever give to thee.

      I wear a hat every Sunday! An homage to nana, whose training as a milliner was paid for by money hard saved by her mother, so that her daughter would not have to follow her into the cotton mills of Burnley. In my local town I sometimes have to identify myself as "the lady in the hat", and they laugh and say "of course, hello". Sad that hats are worn by some ill-behaved females to race meetings, but considered "excessive" to wear to church.

    The lyrics to "Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer"
    Guide me, O thou great redeemer,
    Pilgrim through this barren land;
    I am weak, but thou art mighty,
    Hold me with thy powerful hand;
    Bread of heaven, bread of heaven
    Feed me till I want no more;
    Feed me till I want no more.
    Open now the crystal fountain
    Whence the healing stream doth flow;
    Let the fire and cloudy pillar
    Lead me all my journey through:
    Strong deliverer, strong deliverer;
    Be thou still my strength and shield;
    Be thou still my strength and shield.
    When I tread the verge of Jordan,
    Bid my anxious fears subside;
    Death of death, and hell's destruction
    Land me safe on Canaan's side:
    Songs of praises, songs of praises,
    I will ever give to thee;
    I will ever give to thee
