I am from India. Whenever I hear this song I could remember my Childhood days. 10 days celebrations from Christmas Eve 24th Dec to 1 January, joyful days. Christmas is a amazing festival. God revealed in flesh. What a amazing is this, what a wonderful love he have on his people. God the Almighty searched and reached the earth seeking his own people. So wonderful!!!
Very proud to be Anglican. The beauty of the music, liturgy and tradition is so well thought out and everything has a purpose that points us to God revealed in Jesus Christ.
@@MattiavonSigmund St Paul instructs us to speak and use language "understood by the people" - your argument denies the omnipresence of the Holy Spirit by assuming God can only be approached in Latin. Did Jesus, his family or his followers speak Latin? I'd argue that in Heaven there is neither (Roman) Catholic or Protestant only believers.
Wonderful! I am roman catholic, but what a liturgy! I attended, for the first time in my life, to a Service in Westminster Abbey, last month of December and I had the joy and the honour to sing with the people. I will never forget this! Thank you!
+MrCimiciotto Glad you enjoyed it. I hope you had the opportunity to visit the shrine of Saint Edward the Confessor, King of England 1042-1066. The shrine is a place of pilgrimage for all Christian brothers and sisters.
MrCimiciotto I'm not surprised that you enjoyed it so. Besides the fact that Westminster Abbey is awesome, it's also the seat of High Church Anglicanism, which is about as Catholic as Anglicans can get.
It's not that high, relatively moderate high Anglican, their liturgy is quite modern catholic, but rendering by royal luxury. There are still some high Anglican parishes in London having English Missal mass, which is very similar to Tridentine mass, but in English.
I’m an American and also not religious. But when I visited this place almost 20 years ago, I was blown away. It’s one of the greatest places I’ve ever visited. Love the choir too. 😊

Rational Raven Right. You mean like the time when he said that you are to choose him over family and that if you didn't hate your family, you weren't worthy? Or perhaps the time he chased people out of the temple with a whip? Or the parable where he expressed desire for his enemies to be killed in front of him? Or when he didn't know when figs are in season so he threw a temper tantrum and killed the tree? Or where he said that if you aren't with him, you are against him? Or where he turns his back on his mother and family? Or where he advocates thought crime? Or how about the very idea that you will endure torment in an awful place that he created for the crime if not believing in him as a god? It's almost as if you haven't read his story.
Rational Raven No. I appreciated good music. Just because I don't believe in sky fairies does not mean that I can't find music beautiful. I simply found your comment ignorant.
HAHAH "sky fairies"! You really believe Jesus would have been crucified and forsaken for something that wasn't real? You really believe all the Apostles would have been horrifically tortured and in many cases crucified for something they made up? You really believe thousands upon thousands would die for something fake? If so, you believe in a bigger fairy tale than any I have ever heard.
Though not Anglican, I have always had (and will) have a soft spot for our English brothers in Christ Jesus. Glory to the Holy Trinity, and Happy Christmas!
I am an American raised in an Evangelical church so our services look nothing like this, however I have great admiration for the beautiful liturgical services and the organ. I would love to attend a service like this one day. Merry Christmas and God bless.
My little church, Grace Episcopal Church in Alexandria VA which seats about 250 looks and souunds just like. It is Anglo-Catholic and all the liturgies are done right.
the liturgy is something we should never discard. With all love to our evangelical brothers and sisters, this is something that I, as a Lutheran (we are Anglicanism's closest cousins), would never want to lose.
Westminster Abbey is so beautiful There are people in this world who would destroy such beauty because they hate the Lord. The song itself says, "Who would not love thee, loving us so dearly?" A heart that doesn't know it's loved will have no love in it.
I'm a 20 year old Baptist. I would love nothing more than for worship to go back to looking like this... rather than being a pop-rock concert with smoke and lights.... Without all the icons, of course ;)
There are plenty of baptist churches in america SBC here in FL that have the traditional hymns. I suggest an episcopal church for you.If you are afraid they are too liberal in the episcopal church (some can be even for me) try the anglican church north america. Go and really LISTEN to the words of the liturgy....which is scripture based. Consistency keeps the preacher's "God I wanna" laundry list in check. (There is free prayer time, but you should also be doing that before, during, and after the service on your own). Don't dismiss the standing, sitting, and kneeling as "aerobics". We stand to praise (and for Jesus' gospel) sit to be instructed, (sermon and announcements) and kneel in supplication and repentance (communion/eucharist/thanksgiving/general confession). Noone gets mad if you "mess up" or say something incorrectly. (But saying "amen's" during a sermon is generally not done.)
I have been to Westminster Abbey twice while in London on vacation, and I loved seeing it both times, but I have not had the privilege of attending a Christmas service. It is a wondrous place.
The organ interlude was absolutely magnificent! It was powerful, majestic, brilliant, transcending, electrifying; it rocketed through my soul and body! I play the church organ, and it simply doesn't get better than this! It is inspiring and uplifting!
When cathedrals were built i think they took the sounds of singing and instruments into consideration because it definitely makes it sound so much more fuller.
It's a nice sounding song, but if you listen and understand the lyrics, it's kind of disturbing. Oh come to Bethlehem to adore a baby boy. Why? Because this baby shall be the future sacrifice for us to forgive our sins. And who would not love thee, loving us so dearly that thou would do this for us. Oh newborn baby boy, poor and in the manger, come let us adore you for it. Yup! Something is definitely off. Sounds pagan
Possibly the greatest rendition of that hymn I have ever heard. The organ interlude in the middle was quite dramatic and was a perfect companion to that holy hymn. Being a Christian, I respect other Christian denominations no matter who they are, and indeed I felt the spirit of the Lord quite powerfully in this service. Thanks for sharing from half a world away.
+mew19forever, you are absolutely and indeed right. Same does to me, Anglican tradition service has make me draw closer and nearer to God, refresh myself who am i and to where i shall return. that is basic to think as a human being.

The the last few verses were absolutely magnificent. I got goosebumps when the choir began to descant and the organ hit the low notes making the entire building rumble. Awesome.
I noticed some of the Asian chaps at 1:52 bowing as the baby Jesus is carried past...what a nice touch, shows the diversity of customs within the broader church.
One year we attended midnight mass at the Church of England in London. It was spectacular!!! I’m trying to remember the last piece that was played as the Priests and altar boys left. I never knew it was a Christmas song, it was so beautiful.
I absolutely love pipe organ music. something about it that reaches into your soul. This organ sounds absolutely beautiful, the old organs like this always produce the most beautiful, and powerful sounds!

Just as the Hymn says, Let us all rejoice the birth of our King and Savior Jesus Christ. This is a season to contemplate and find the Bethlehem in our hearts. Let us open the doors of our hearts to welcome the birth of Christ.
One the most beautiful versions of this carol. Very impressing to join the scenery even on the screen. Tears in my eyes, when jesus is laid into the crip.

It is the Catholic lyrics being used in the Hymn. Both Anglicans and Catholics have a lot of similarities, but they also have a good number of differences. But I do consider them as Authentic Christian Churches unlike the money making scam so called Mega Churches run by pastors who are only in it for money.
The big difference between the two faiths is lose the Pope and add women clergy. Some high Anglican churches are more RC than some main stream RC around here. My wife is a former RC and now is an Anglican Priest, a Canon of our Cathedral.
Every Time when i saw this Video, i must gave my honor and respect to the man who constructed and build this church without Computers, Maschines, and technical Help! Thats a true Wonder for me! Merry Christmas and Peace on Earth for everybody!
We can thank King Henry III (1216-1272) who substantially rebuilt the Abbey in the French gothic style. The model for this was Amiens Cathedral in France. The interior of the Abbey is very much how the King left it in 1272.

Agnostic but raised Roman Catholic, this might be the most beautiful piece of music ever produced, not just for just Christmas but of all time. Which says a lot coming from me lol given my disdain for the Roman Catholic Church. Just be nice to each other, no need for religion… Here’s wishing everyone Peace & Love & a very Merry Christmas! 🎄

@@gordonsmith8899 Lmao okay Have you read the gnostic texts? The Books of Thomas, Judas, or Mary Magdalene? There was never any “push” or even a thought of a brick and mortar church; and certainly nothing to suggest the creation like the Vatican or the Bishop of Rome in those texts which were written in the 1st century CE I’ve had experiences w the “divine” completely sober that would “knock your socks off lol. I’ve been shown a “peek behind the veil” and it’s changed my life & worldview completely (no psychedelics or anything, although I highly recommend everyone have at least one experience with psychedelics before they die) Christmas & the birth sequence of Christ is all astronomical anyways. Not to mention on a temple wall in Luxor Egypt there’s a relief that depicts the birth sequence of Horace….its the same as “Jesus Christ” and it’s over 2000yrs before “JC” was even a thought Do unto others as you would have done to yourself & everything else takes care of itself We need to dissociate spirituality from religion & man made dogmatic beliefs about “god” order to receive the fruits of truth & to create the world we all deserve to live in
@@gordonsmith8899 I just want to follow up in case my original comment didn’t come through First: LOL. So doing unto others as you would have done unto you, doesn’t matter? Why do we have to have “religious faith” in order to be good people? Some of the most judgmental, bigoted, and (unconsciously) hateful people I’ve ever met were “true believers” Seeing how it’s Christmas time, perhaps you should look into how the Church came up with Dec 25th as the day of Christs birth; I’ll save you some trouble, one it made conversion less of a shock to the Pagan cults of Mythra that was popular in Rome/Italy prior to Christianity being set at the official religion of the Roman’s by Constantine. Second, it’s all astronomical, the sun “dies” on Dec 21st & stays at that low point in the sky for 3/4days…then around Dec 24/25th it rises one degree in the sky signaling the coming of warmer weather in 3mo time There is a plethora of evidence to support that Jesus Christ was a sun god who “became” a Jewish man In Luxor Egypt on a temple wall is a relief of the birth sequence that is described in the Bible; except it’s not about Jesus Christ, but rather about Horace. The events are the same; only the names, location & context are different & the fact that it’s at least 2500yrs older than the birth of Christianity or “christ”but the devil probably put that there to test our/your faith, right? And for the record, the reason why the old carols & chants of the Catholic Church produce such a strong internal response by our bodies is bc of their frequency & vibrations. When coupled with the acoustic properties of the old cathedrals, these musical effects actually resonate with our minds (dna) in a way that produces such a powerful response (why people cry, including me) it’s not something “godly” or anything to do with spirituality but rather a scientific phenomenon that was well known by the early church Think of the Gregorian chants, Hebrew & Islamic prayers (turning candle flames purple or blue) etc. All have to do with manipulating energy thru the frequencies of sound waves. This “mystical” thing was well known & capitalized on to “enthrall” the masses or the unlearned in an effort to further control them & their lives Wake up! Spirituality is not religion. Religion does nothing to advance our spiritual development or lives; it hinders it! I’ve had experiences with the “divine” that’d blow your socks off. Completely sober too lol although I highly recommend using psychedelics at least once before you die so you can get a taste of what is unseen but always there…beyond our senses hopefully lose your fear of death too which is what I believe 99% of believers are actually doing by attending or subscribing to a religion. Stop clinging! Once you “let go,” the freedom is incredible My heart is light as a feather; how’s yours?
@@KNIGHTSTEMPLAR13 My mother would routinely tell me how by the age of 3 I was already protesting going to church. They say children “remember” what it was like before they incarnated in their earthly bodies/vehicles Maybe that’s what I was sort of doing but didn’t have the words or understanding to put it into context for my mother to understand what & why I felt the way I did If I could sniff out the BS as a 3yr old then…idk lol

No, I am sorry. Surely the next time.
MrCimiciotto I'm not surprised that you enjoyed it so. Besides the fact that Westminster Abbey is awesome, it's also the seat of High Church Anglicanism, which is about as Catholic as Anglicans can get.
MrCimiciotto
It's not that high, relatively moderate high Anglican, their liturgy is quite modern catholic, but rendering by royal luxury. There are still some high Anglican parishes in London having English Missal mass, which is very similar to Tridentine mass, but in English.
I’m an American and also not religious. But when I visited this place almost 20 years ago, I was blown away. It’s one of the greatest places I’ve ever visited. Love the choir too. 😊
You should visit Windsor Castle

Hahaha You are good at distortions. I won't reply because english is not my first language. Just one question: Are you with Christ or against him?
Joe Smith Did you really just come visit a Christian hymn on TH-cam so you could troll people in the comments? Chill out brother, Jesus loves you.

It’s very common for services to look like this in England, as part of the Church of England.
You would be most welcome to join in the Anglican traditions.
This is what catholic services look like in US
My little church, Grace Episcopal Church in Alexandria VA which seats about 250 looks and souunds just like.

Icons aren´t idolatry brother
THIS is how this - and all the other great carols - should be sung! Terrific! Thanks.
I am in tears, so very beautiful!😭 Oh to Adore JESUS The King of all Kings!! A truly wonderful traditional British Hymn. They sang like Angels! ♥️
🙏🙏🙏
With such music!
It is a Latin hymn.
As an Orthodox Christian in America I find this beautiful
I have been to Westminster Abbey twice while in London on vacation, and I loved seeing it both times, but I have not had the privilege of attending a Christmas service. It is a wondrous place.
The organ interlude was absolutely magnificent! It was powerful, majestic, brilliant, transcending, electrifying; it rocketed through my soul and body! I play the church organ, and it simply doesn't get better than this! It is inspiring and uplifting!
Anyone who grew up altar serving or singing in a choir loves 5:56 - 7:23.
Sue I love it 🥰
When cathedrals were built i think they took the sounds of singing and instruments into consideration because it definitely makes it sound so much more fuller.
Yeah they took ACOUSTICS in mind for the CHOIRS to bounce around the walls and ceilings..
Most of the cathedrals were built before there were organs! They were built for singing!

That is the number one reason I tune in to listen to hymns sang at the Abbey; the pipe organ.
Someone asked why not everybody is singing, well, I know why I wasnt singing if I d been there: Id have cried tears of happieness, I allways cry when I hear a great organ live.
I would have singed this with all my effort even if my vocal chords would have been unusable the rest of my life.

@@johnking5174 That got my ancestors thrown out of Switzerland and they lost their land and inheritance and property and knowledge of family history and founded the USA and fought the American Revolution for freedom.

Lmao okay
Have you read the gnostic texts?
The Books of Thomas, Judas, or Mary Magdalene?
There was never any “push” or even a thought of a brick and mortar church; and certainly nothing to suggest the creation like the Vatican or the Bishop of Rome in those texts which were written in the 1st century CE
I’ve had experiences w the “divine” completely sober that would “knock your socks off lol. I’ve been shown a “peek behind the veil” and it’s changed my life & worldview completely (no psychedelics or anything, although I highly recommend everyone have at least one experience with psychedelics before they die)
Christmas & the birth sequence of Christ is all astronomical anyways. Not to mention on a temple wall in Luxor Egypt there’s a relief that depicts the birth sequence of Horace….its the same as “Jesus Christ” and it’s over 2000yrs before “JC” was even a thought
Do unto others as you would have done to yourself & everything else takes care of itself
We need to dissociate spirituality from religion & man made dogmatic beliefs about “god” order to receive the fruits of truth & to create the world we all deserve to live in
@@gordonsmith8899
I just want to follow up in case my original comment didn’t come through
First: LOL. So doing unto others as you would have done unto you, doesn’t matter?
Why do we have to have “religious faith” in order to be good people? Some of the most judgmental, bigoted, and (unconsciously) hateful people I’ve ever met were “true believers”
Seeing how it’s Christmas time, perhaps you should look into how the Church came up with Dec 25th as the day of Christs birth; I’ll save you some trouble, one it made conversion less of a shock to the Pagan cults of Mythra that was popular in Rome/Italy prior to Christianity being set at the official religion of the Roman’s by Constantine. Second, it’s all astronomical, the sun “dies” on Dec 21st & stays at that low point in the sky for 3/4days…then around Dec 24/25th it rises one degree in the sky signaling the coming of warmer weather in 3mo time
There is a plethora of evidence to support that Jesus Christ was a sun god who “became” a Jewish man
In Luxor Egypt on a temple wall is a relief of the birth sequence that is described in the Bible; except it’s not about Jesus Christ, but rather about Horace.
When coupled with the acoustic properties of the old cathedrals, these musical effects actually resonate with our minds (dna) in a way that produces such a powerful response (why people cry, including me) it’s not something “godly” or anything to do with spirituality but rather a scientific phenomenon that was well known by the early church
Think of the Gregorian chants, Hebrew & Islamic prayers (turning candle flames purple or blue) etc. All have to do with manipulating energy thru the frequencies of sound waves. This “mystical” thing was well known & capitalized on to “enthrall” the masses or the unlearned in an effort to further control them & their lives
Wake up! Spirituality is not religion. Religion does nothing to advance our spiritual development or lives; it hinders it!
I’ve had experiences with the “divine” that’d blow your socks off. Completely sober too lol although I highly recommend using psychedelics at least once before you die so you can get a taste of what is unseen but always there…beyond our senses
hopefully lose your fear of death too which is what I believe 99% of believers are actually doing by attending or subscribing to a religion. Stop clinging!
Once you “let go,” the freedom is incredible
My heart is light as a feather; how’s yours?
@@KNIGHTSTEMPLAR13
My mother would routinely tell me how by the age of 3 I was already protesting going to church. They say children “remember” what it was like before they incarnated in their earthly bodies/vehicles
Maybe that’s what I was sort of doing but didn’t have the words or understanding to put it into context for my mother to understand what & why I felt the way I did
If I could sniff out the BS as a 3yr old then…idk lol
Such a great Christian Hymn! Best wishes from the land of Alexander! 🇬🇷♥️👑🇬🇧
