- the hym "Guide me O thou great Redeemer" from the wedding of prince william and kate.
Guide me, O thou great redeemer,
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but thou art mighty,
Hold me with thy powerful hand;
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven
Feed me till I want no more;
Feed me till I want no more.
Open now the crystal fountain
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through:
Strong deliverer, strong deliverer;
Be thou still my strength and shield;
Be thou still my strength and shield.
When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of death, and hell's destruction
Land me safe on Canaan's side:
Songs of praises, songs of praises,
I will ever give to thee;
I will ever give to thee. - เพลง
This is such a beautiful powerful hymn. The words, the melody - everything. Churches need to keep singing these old traditional songs.
ABSOLUTELY!
Until Christ come back on this earth and for ever in the Heaven!
If anything, if a person doesn't like the old school melody, read the lyrics. Many times they proclaim the Christian doctrine incredibly well.
The boys backing vocal sounds nice💟
Sadly the Anglican Church is too busy trying to be “Woke” and ensuring less and less people will follow them.
Princess Diana’s favorite hymn. What a beautiful tribute to her on that glorious day!
1.Guide me, O Thou great Redeemer,
Pilgrim through this barren land.
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy powerful hand.
Bread of Heaven, Bread of Heaven,
Feed me till I want no more;
Feed me till I want no more.
2.Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through.
Strong Deliverer, Strong Deliverer,
Be Thou still my Strength and Shield;
Be Thou still my Strength and Shield.
3.When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of Death and Hell's Destruction,
Land me safe on Canaan's side.
Songs of praises, songs of praises,
I will ever give to Thee;
I will ever give to Thee.
Thank you for the lyrics!
Thank you for sharing.
Sounds more like what #Yeshua would sing to #MiriamOfMagdala?
Humph! "Let the fiery, cloudy pillar...."
@@TheSapphireLeo ,
That is absolute nonsense.
The reason why this song was chosen to be the first hymn of the wedding was because this was the last hymn that was played at Princess Diana's Funeral...........
And I realised that it was Diana's favourite hymn... so emotional
Poor Diane , you are surely miss ,Rip
It was also the closing hymn for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding seven years later
This is a Welsh hymn and would have been used at most major Royal services involving the Prince of Wales and his family, Prince William of Wales and Prince Harry of Wales. The late Princess of Wales favourite hymn was said to be I Vow To Thee My Country, music by Holst - not Welsh.
If their had been no Camilla would Diana still be here?
I’ve listened to this song like 100 times
Also me. This hymn is too beautiful to hear and sing.
I love the little glimpse that we get of the Catholic Cardinal, the Orthodox Patriach, the Presbyterian Moderator, the Anglican Bishop and the Jewish Rabbi all singing "Guide me, O thou Great Redeemer" together.
I agree. It would be wonderful if life would imitate this. If you look further to the right, I think there is at least a Sikh identifiable in the gallery. Religions should be able to coexist this way all the time.
Yes, I think I spotted the head of the Sikh Temple in South London (at Croydon I think) in one of the clips.
Where do you see the Orthodox Rabbi singing? I see him standing there with the hymn book down. Why would he be singing a hymn he doesn't believe? Do you realise who the redeemer is they're singing about?
The hymn is usually sung as Guide me O Thou Great Jehovah. Every reference in it is to the Old Testament.
BungleZippie I took another look and the Rabbi is not singing. Maybe he is pissed off at them for changing the word!
This beautiful old hymn, a reminder of what civilization owes to Christianity.Everything.
Love the pipe Organ!! Sounds Majestic
it's just incredible.
truely!
Yep
I feel the heavens gates opening with this hymn, just lovely!
As a little girl, I sought out the closest Church, didn’t matter the denomination..my mother told me we were Anglican, and so I concentrated on the Angican (or closest facsimile),attended Sunday school, was in the Junior and Senior choirs..married a Roman Catholic and converted - 50 years ago, but my heart still hurts yet sings with the old hymns..my dilemna..at my funeral, I would love to have MY old and favourite hymns sung..not going to happen
well start going to a baptist church and enjoy them there! John 3:3
Catholicism has the most sacred music/hymns that dates back to medieval times.
I can’t believe that this year it’ll have been ten years since Wills & Kate said ‘I Do’
Real and True Christian Wedding..Time immaterial to Wish and Bless Them..
Long Live..Jesus Guiding Them..
The meaning of the lyrics, the power of the organ, the beauty of the choir is what is important here. The descant. The Most High God, he is full of majesty, power and beauty no matter which earthly nationality you are.
Agreed x
I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment, it was just a pity that the established churches, in Britain, ran away from their flocks, during the Pandemic, shutting church doors, before ordered to, at the 1st national Lockdown ☹️
@@danielw5850
During the pandemic only,all religions get the effect of it.
Don't u know?
Beautiful hymn. I am Sri lankan
Magnificent descant on the last verse sung by the boy sopranos! This magnificent hymn needs to continue to be sung at every church so it is not forgotten!
The same hymn was sang at my wedding,beautiful hymn all glory to God.
When I got married this was the closing hymn, it was chosen on these grounds:
- my husband is a quarter Welsh through his dad and it’s a Welsh hymn (his dad’s face lit up when the organist played the introduction to cue everyone to stand)
- it’s been associated with weddings for the past ten years due to being used at Wills & Kate’s wedding and Harry & Meghan’s wedding
❤
Apart from William no one one is singing this hymn with joy. As he knows the joy of the Lord is his strength. Amen
Dyma anthem Gristnogol Cymru. Mawl i'r Arglwydd lesu Grist.
What you have written here is judgemental codswallop.
The hymn is a prayer for aid, rather than a joyful hymn of praise.
You cannot pretend to know what is in the hearts of the singers.
There is one thing that I can tell you- this young man will one day be king, so his wedding is a State Service, and invited to it are Heads of State from all over the World, and representatives from across Britain who may or may not be Christian, and who, if they ARE Christian, might never have sung THIS Welsh hymn.
The thing that is surprising is that MOST of the congregation, including people who are not from the UK, not Anglican and in some cases not Christian, are joining in.
Bless this place O Christ we pray and open here a door that no one can shut and grant that soon there will be one Church and one fold and one Shepherd.
Beautiful old Welsh hymn. Love it.
+kandy kandy Two centenaries. I consider that old. But you don't have to if you don't want to.
Every time I hear this hymn, I think a football match is about to occur.
Irish Fancy you know how to recognize a great hymn.
I think it’s only the choir we can hear as so few are singing in the congregation
@@AbsoluteMiniacGena if I’m in the congregation at Sunday Eucharist or a wedding or funeral I make an effort to sing up (even if I don’t know the hymn that well)
Me think is an angel that wrote this song, very heavenly very inspiring. those that are not a Christian yet are missing a lot
I start my day with this hymn. I get guidance and I praise God. It was the hymn I chose for my procession as we went the altar when I got married.
I too will be having it at my wedding, as the closing hymn
Yes I will have this at my wedding too 😍🥰
I love that Benjamin, and all else who commented to you. I wish we would all begin our days with praying "Your kingdom done, your will be done," and guide Lord. For as we are told, "In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths." How we need that direction now!
Excellent choice!
The Choir is amazing
Specially the boys
I love this song! I'm Roman Catholic & I used to adore singing those rich sounding timeless hymns. This is new to me, but I have a recording of Princess Diana's funeral, which is how I first heard it. "I Vow to Thee My Country" was chosen for Prince William's wedding because it was his mom's favorite hymn. God bless William, Kate, Harry, Meghann & all the royal family.
Beautiful hymn, I almost share tears any time I hears it. Thank You Lord
Lord have mercy and restore the Christian heritage and honor to England and the UK. Lord be glorified, bring repentance and revival. May your name Jesus Christ be exalted in this nation and all the earth!
The problem is that the rulers of the United Kingdom, including the Royal Family, partake in Satanism. So while they will extol a "Christian Heritage" to the general public, in truth, they are Luciferians.

It is easier to say that what I speak is nonsense instead of researching it. I recommend the literary work "Secret Societies and Psychological Warfare" by Michael Hoffman II. Two of the many events discussed in this work are the infamous murders of William Morgan (who was assassinated for publishing Anti-Masonic Literature and is commemorated with a monument in the state of New York) and the victims of "Jack-the-Ripper" (who was basically a public assigned alias for the work of the London Police Department and the British Government). Overall, study my side thoroughly and then denounce me for foolishness.

One of the greatest weddings in the last 50 years...
Cym Rhondda and I Bob Un Sydd Ffyddlon (Rachie) are the two powerful Welsh hymns that will be played at my funeral. My hope is that these hymns will point people’s heart towards Christ.
My heart is warmed that Diana and Elizabeth and Phillip are reunited in heaven with the Lord….one day we will rise up with Him, and be one
Rest in perfect eternal peace Prince Philip. May God always keep you close to him
And R.I.P. Queen Elizabeth II
This hymn came into my heart this morning,"may the Lord continue to guide you continually and satisfy your needs in a parched places." Isaiah 58:11
It was a favorite hymn as a born Catholic and still is when I reflect and meditate on the words.
These hymns are so strong and melodious!! They immensely appeal to me every time I hear them.
They represent the power of British traditions. Britons, always keep in mind that they reflect your identy.
I am Dutch and I love your country, and I strongly advise you to stick to your identity and NEVER to give up your great traditions. A nation that allows itself to be removed from its roots will cease to exist.
You are welcome, Achv Bg.
I wrote my comment as a reaction to a most unwelcome attitude that has come fashionable amongst leftish, politically correct people in the western hemisphere.
They seem to be most unhappy with all the things the nation that they live in stands for. Somehow they think that we are to blame for ALL the misery in the world.
Well, a nation camn make mistakes of course, but the very thought that it ONLY made critical mistakes, is simply total NONSENSE.
I so very much am fed up with people who want to make make us feel GUILTY, so I decided to stand up against that kind of sick thinking.
I think that self hatred can NEVER be a constructive power.
The western world brought the world a lot of good.
Therefore your country can be proud of itself.British should be proud of their country and defend its identity, cultural heritage, and freedom.
And that is exactly what I do, too, as a Dutchman :-)
Brian Estanislao
Thank you, Brian, I meant every word I wrote!
I call the leftish intention to give up your formidable national identity as if it stands for nothing a mental sickness! It is just not normal. A nation derives its power from a strong culture,tradition and history that has been able to develope throughout ages.That identity should NEVER been given up! It it the duty of every Briton to defend that identity.
When I visited Britain with my family for the first time -in 1977- we all fell in love with Britain, not only because of its great beauty, but alsp because of it kind and relaxed atmosphere anmd every since when have regularly been visiting your country on an annual basis. We are not pleased seeing Britain turning in a kind of oriental state..
Hence my words of warning.
Henk Damster I am an American and I agree, Keep up those traditions. I love to click on and here these great hymns w/ the mighty organ and brass. Jim B
Glad to hear that, James :-)
''Politically correc''t ,leftish politicians will strongly oppose our view, though..
Feelings of national pride and a a strong intention to defend our culture, our way of life and our unsurpassed freedom, are considered to be very dangerous nowadays.
My answer to these politicians is that a nation that is being separated from the roots that shaped its marvelous identity will collapse and turn into a state of anarchy....
I reject every form of fashionable national self -hatred.and cultural or religious relativism.
Western societies are worth being defended!
Henk Damster: The Dutch are the only people of whom I am aware, besides the English, who learnt to live as free men without being taught how by someone else's empire (usually the British). As pioneers of freedom, and of enlightenment generally, your people are worthy of great respect. However, the news I hear from your fair land makes me fear for the survival of your culture. As a Dutchman whose opinion I respect (due to your comments above), could you please tell me how confidant you are in that survival? Thanks in advance.
A wonderful occasion with equally wonderful music for Kate and William. What a grand couple they make too!
This song reminds me of my grandma. She lived for church at the Historic St. Agnes Episcopal Church❤ One of the best hymns played on an organ!
strong deliverer.. be Thou still my strength and shield
gerichoes strength and shieeellldd
One of my favorite hymns. Mostly because I'm a tenor, and the tenor part is a great deal of fun.
Whenever we sing this at church, I say to the other men in the choir, "Pretend your're an extra from HOW GREEN WAS MY VALEY!"
Lol
I am here only for Gods Hymn and for Praising God
Psalm 2
King James Version (KJV)
2 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
I love this Hymn it brings out the God in my soul. It assures me that God is always guiding me by protecting me from all evil. Praise the Lord.
GOD IS GOOD TO PRAISE ALL THE TIME
Amen to that 🙏
God bless the shy, stiff-upper-lip English like me! We all watched it in a massive park with thousands of others and we sang our hearts out for our lovely Royals!!!
Thank you Jesus for this beautiful song and thank you all. This song is touching me so deeply and I love it very much amen.
It is wonderful that they began their married life with this prayer song. May the Lord make it real for them.
The audience looked beautiful. I wish more had been singing this song, and from the heart!
WHAT A MAGNIFICANT HYMN AND A STUNNING ORGAN TO COMPLETE A FABULOUS RENDITION OF THIS GREAT HYMN.
Give God Glory.. Songs of praises I will ever give to Thee!!!! My God!!!!!!
love this hymn so much hail Jesus

Was actually written about someone else.
@@LaniBanani true, the original name is Guide Me O thou great Jehovah, he was the father of Jesus.......
@@LaniBanani actually mean to say He IS the Father of Christ Jesus.......
Beautiful song, beautiful wedding. May God watch over them. Let no man lead them astray.
As a Methodist, I remember this hymn being sung in church. Although we sang it as "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah" (basically the same thing). Also the hymn, "God of Grace, and God of Glory" has been sung to this tune. Just a fun fact for anyone who cares.
Worthy Is the Lamb
They removed our great God Jehovah's name.
This is a beautiful hymn. The words, the melody everything is just relaxing. I get goosebumps when I'm listening to it🥺😍
A magnificent hymn of faith. One of my very favourites.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (February 17, Lent 1), we sang this as our Closing Hymn. Ditto for me as I filled in at a local Lutheran Church. I played it as the Hymn of the Day. It is #618 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.

WHAT A SETTING FOR THIS MAGNIFICANT HYMN SUNG AT THIS GREAT WEDDING OF THE ROYAL FAMILY MEMBERS. WILLIAM AND KATE...FABULOUS.
a soul searching song / never before in the age of this world , have we had need to sing this song, but now
"Guide me oh thou G read Redeemer"
Pure and beautiful. 'We live in a Christian country, and we should be proud to be Christian' _ David Cameron
I do desire that the "royal family" would follow the one true God who's royalty fills heaven and earth. Would that this song were not only in their ears, on their lips but in their hearts.
I think we'll be surprised who will be saved. A lot of people are like David, terrible sinners in this life, but people after God's own heart.
@@litigioussociety4249
The point is Lord Jesus Christ.
I think it terribly arrogant of anyone to make assumptions about who will be saved. God knows who is pleasing in His sight. I very much doubt the Queen needed your desires and prayers
I wonder how many were singing from their hearts singing in spirit and in truth to God and how many were moved by the Holy Spirit when singing???
The words to this hymn bring me to tears.
My favorite church song!
What a beautiful hymn! This will be my wedding hymn too. :)
Haerani Ester Siahaan Amen
Me too, I’m hoping to have it as the closing hymn for my wedding
Thank you so much!!!
Praise God~♡
Chosen by William a good man with remembrance of this his mothers favorite hymn.
In the US, this hymn is called, "Guide Me Oh, Thou Great Jehovah." The melody is also different on the words, "Feed me 'til I want no more."
Michael Lasfetto They replaced Jehovah with Redeemer.
Beautiful hymn. Brings a tear to my eye.
I love the duchess, as she is a genuine down to earth person. May God continue to bless you.
I like this song very much, thanks
I've been thinking of this hymn for days, not remembering its name, and then I type in a few familiar words, and TH-cam instantly pulls up this beautiful rendition! ^^
Another fantastic hymn beautifully sung by this great choir. What an occasion to be part of. It doesn`t get any better than a Royal Wedding does it.
😊 absolutely
What a beautiful hymn
These are Lovely hymns!
The words and the music of the Hymn 'Guide me O Thou Great Redeemer' in the Anglican Church of England on great occasions is stirring, beautiful and spiritually elevating! The first three verses as stated above is based upon the Book of Exodus, which recounts the Exodus of the Children of Israel under the leadership of Moses, Aaron and Joshua when they were guided by the 'Pillar of Cloud' by day and the 'Pillar of Fire' by night during their journey from Egypt to the Promised Land of Israel..
Nice
We know in God"s Kingdom every thing was made perfect. May God bless the Families for that wonderful wedding in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
This was the most beautiful wedding I have ever watched on television. Even more meaningful than his Mother Diana's. May she rest in peace.
I could watch snippets of this wedding for the rest of my life it was so beautiful hahaha
What a beautiful hymn! My favorite !
The words of this hymn are so beautiful, very fitting for a wedding
It was one of the hymns when I got married, specifically the closing hymn. Usage at the weddings of the Prince & Princess of Wales and the Sussexes was partly what influenced it but also because my husband is a quarter Welsh through his dad
A VERY WONDERFUL SONG
Love hats in church!
Is anyone just a bit distracted? Keep focused on the wonderful words of the hymn and praise to the Lord. Stop looking around!
The chainsaw juggler was just out of shot, he was there to keep the congregation’s spirits up.
beautiful hymn

This became one of my favourite hymns after Wills & Kate’s wedding day and I’m hoping to have it at my own wedding
As a Welshman, I absolutely love this hymn. It sounds wonderful in this rendition, and the descant (by Westminster Abbey's Director of Music, James O'Donnell) is thrilling and beautifully sing by the choristers.
We sang this at our 2017 New Year's Day morning church service. Great to sing this hymn at the beginning of the year to praise God and to ask Him to guide us through out the year.
Guide me oh thy great Jehovah!

Grant to guide our nation with Your great wisdom this day and every day from now on O gracious Lord God our Father we pray.
When looking at the nobility of the UK and the friends, famous and not-so-famous acquaintances of the royal family, I can't help but be struck by the thought that most have no earthly idea what they are singing about and how deep the meaning. If they knew, and they were not strong Christians, they would never dare sing such a powerful and intimate song to the Lord Jesus. May God open their eyes. This song is the heritage of the Great Welsh Christian Revival of the early 1900s. God Bless!
Tom God is still speaking......never think otherwise. God worked through Kanye. Its glass half full or empty ....we as people will dither between the two as humans...He is Sovereign aye brother. God bless.

Since no one else has mentioned it, "Guide me O Though Great Redeemer" isn't the only set of lyrics to that tune - it's also the hymn of Wales. Either way it is a thing of beauty
It's beautiful sung in Welsh.
