I would pass on the Ace Pro 2. The Dji Action 5 Pro has a more balanced feature set and DJI has a history of improving their product over time. DJI log/10bit, DJI mics, DJI front screen, With firmware upgrade, great DJI Webcam experience, good DJI support are key factors. The one Ace Pro 2 mic looks interesting though.
Already bought Dji Osmo Action5 pro ;) . Seems i did the right thing. Using mainly for trail running. Also i got the bundle with the 1.5m stick , which is so great. I already posted a video with it. I don't think it's a big deal that there is no front screen

Great video. Very detailed and thought out. I currently use the Insta360 Go2 for my motovlogs. This helped me determine which camera I want to upgrade to…. Which will be the Ace Pro 2 📷 😎..
For me, GoPro is always the best choice for action: it offers better color science in daylight, an 8:7 sensor (I will never go back to a 4:3 sensor), an ultrawide lens with horizontal lock in all mode, 10-bit color, high bitrate, a variety of accessories, and more… My dream would be a square sensor for the next GoPro! 🤩
I agree the thread mount would be useful, dont care for the internal storage, i worry it may affect heat and cold weather performance. Plus a company adding internal storage isn't going to choose the best fastest options. So better to just let us choose ur storage options But I get it
Not sure about heat. The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro runs through an entire battery in 4K30P without overheating but it may add to the cost? Not totally sure.
@@ChaseTheSummit nice ya i love action 5 pro handling of heat, i hope ace pro 2 can handle 40°c summer heat in beach or dessert countries. I am scouring youtube for a review that tests head and cold durability of ace 2 vs action 5
@ChaseTheSummit just say RobHK review He discovered action 5 pro runs for 2hr41min at 25°c 4k30fps vs 1hr50min ace pro 2 I hope someone tries simulation 35°c and -10°c or something 😢
Interesting review - I'm glad however that I went for the DJI Action 5 Pro, I was concerned the new Ace Pro 2 would blow it out of the water, but I don't think it does, although low light performance is better.
i hope in the next iteration they bring in 10 bit color and a 1 inch stacked sensor for faster read out and also inbuilt storage like the dji .....nice work 👍
Best review i saw so far for the ace pro 2 TH-cam algorithim doesnt like u though maybe add some extra hastags Because when i searched Ace pro 2 vs action 5 pro review ur video didnt come up at all in the top videos
I think for now I’ll stick with my Ace Pro 1, I was hoping that the new Pro 2 would offer 10 bit and maybe increase the sensor a little bit. But don’t see any major improvements to get the new version. Thanks for the info in you review 👍🏼
Great, I love the review! You should do a battery comparison like the last time, because that was really interesting and the DJI wiped the others out in that one.
Durability. I use GoPro on gravel riding. Very bumpy. I crashed a couple of times. I dropped the camera. But it is still perfect. I thought about these other options but I don't think they are as rugged as GoPro.
GoPro is super durable though I'm pretty impressed with the build quality of both the new DJI and this Ace Pro 2! As noted at the beginning of this video I dropped the Ace Pro 2 at a full sprint and it literally smashed into concrete and bounced into a busy road... Zero damage and continued to film.
Thanks, I appreciate the comparison review without the hidden sponsored by Insta360 that they like to do and that some others are still doing even though they got spanked about this before. All of the cameras mostly do the same thing but I will say, I've never had a great time importing footage from the Insta app on PC and the footage always seems a little off. Can't quantify that, but it's a feeling thing after using 3 of their newer cameras.
Thanks! Glad you liked the video. I will say the new Studio app for mac works great! I've been using the beta for a couple of weeks to test the Ace Pro 2 with zero issues.
@@ChaseTheSummit yeah for sure. The Ace Pro just seems to be the worst at it in my opinion. The low light is amazing though (except that smudging issue)
I already have the DJI action 4 but wanting to upgrade so was waiting for the ace pro 2 to come out to compare it to the action 5. Still can’t make up my mind. Any suggestions 😂? They both have great low light. I kind of like the double screen on the actions more than the flip up but I like the pause function on the ace pro 2. So hard to decide.
I think the DJI Action 4 combined with the DJI Mic 2 is the best bang for the buck even over the DJI Action 5. I don't see anything that would make me switch from DJI or even adding the AP2 to my growing bag of cameras because it doesn't do anything different or better.
You are correct about it being what you use a specific camera for. When shooting daytime motocross videos the Action 4 has a better normal color profile that doesn't require any luts or color correction in post. Combined with the Mic 2 and the GPS remote I use the A4 and leave the A5 in the bag. Low light vlogger's seem to like the 5 better. If the Garmin Virb XE had evolved with better stab and image quality it would have been the bomb.
I came back to comment one more time because I’ve actually done a lot of lowlight testing with my action five Pro and before the recent firmware update where they fixed the bit rate and also adjusted super night, I was getting a lot of cartoon character type look in my footage with certain lighting. It’s now much better on the A5 Pro. My guess is that since these are similar sensors It’s possible that that’s exactly what’s happening with the ace pro two in certain spooky light and that they’ll fix it in firmware just as they did in the action five pro. I’m actually impressed with how well the action 5 and the Ace pro2 both do in low light. It’s amazing that an action camera can get these kind of Images at all. Happy Halloween!!! 🎃Love your honest and real review. All these are great cams!
Around the 2 minute mark in the video, you kept saying features and quirks. It started to remind me of Doug DeMuro who does car videos here on TH-cam and his catchphrase is "quirks and features". He says it every video.
Kinda like comparing apples to oranges. If you don't need an action camera that can withsand being dropped, going in water, thrown around in a backpack, strapped to a helmet or bike, etc... The Osmo Pocket 3 is a better option as it has a bigger sensor, auto focus and superior image quality. The same goes with any modern day smartphone... an iPhone blows all of these cameras out of the water in terms of image quality. With that said, an action camera is designed for... action. If you want to strap something to a helmet, or dive off of a cliff into the ocean, or go down a waterslide or something... That's why these cameras exist.
@@ChaseTheSummit why should a smartphone that has a much smaller space allocated for 1 camera be better then a dedicated action camera? in my opinion the last one should be much better, especially in low light! In my logic, having a larger space in the back of the "objective" or the lens, used to be a great advantage, to work that space in favour of better lens or stacked lenses, biger lenses, better sensors, and so on.. Finally, for a normal person (no vlogger, editor,...) the most important feature of any camera is the capability to record in good , but also in bad lighting situations. If i think of the moments that I would use a camera will only be with friends doing stuff in town (usually in the evening) or in the midle of nature fishing and chiling with friends in the forest (also kind of a low lighted situation). So , for me GoPro no matter what iteration whe are speaking of would be a no go. The heating would also be a problem in my area, 43 celsius last summer. By the way, not everybody needs 4k/60fps all the time. Most of the time for personal use, 2k(2.x k)/60fps should be quite enough. Why the companies dont introduce that option, like a balanced , less heat , less processing , better battery, more recordings on the same storage opton in the settings?1080 used to be enough in the past but nowadays 1080p does not suffice, considering the new big displays era on TV`s and monitors. So I think 2.x K should the balanced route to go.
Let's mention a major difference in these cameras. If you buy one today the DJI and Ace Pro will probably still work a year from now, the GoPro will likely have a defect by then.
Great demo Cheers. Would you please tell me if Ace Pro 2 has a Liniar setting like GoPro. I notice you show footage in a setting James Megaview. Is this similar to Gopro liniar. Basicly just want to learn if Ace Pro 2 has any liniar setting and if it works as good as Gopro liniar. If so this thing looks perfect to me. Thanks.
Hello, nice review. I was pumped for this camera since i use this primarily for scuba diving, more specifically night dives and UV night dives. Your colored light segment is concerning. I don't really care about 10bit since i don't have a 10bit monitor and I'm glad they added log. But the colored light blurring might be a no go. i wonder if turning off anti noise would clean up that light blurring, another review had a similar light (BUT not the same) and they did not have the blurring. So was it that exact color, which would screw me on UV coral reef filming.? Did you have any similar results with other colored lighting? Was there any noticeable uptick in thermals? two chips could go either way, splitting the work so both heat up less, or thermal stacking increasing over heating. at 4k60p the ace pro 1 over heats about 50 minutes into the dive, is there any data suggesting this time would increase with ace pro 2. thanks
Heat management is similar from Ace Pro 1 to 2. The strange blurring I saw was only present in VERY specific scenarios with strange colored light. It’s not an issue in 99% of situations.
A small detail I wanted to see change was being able to switch the position of the camera without having to take off the mount to match the magnetic mounts direction. I see in the Pro 2 that its able to flip on either side but is it supposed to? I wonder why it would have the camera icon on one direction but not the other? How did it feel mounting it the other way? Is it still secured?
I mention that in this video. You can switch the orientation of the camera on the new mount. Inst360 moved the magnet a smidge so that it doesn't "fight" you when you're trying to connect it backwards. It's pretty easy!
@@ChaseTheSummit Thanks! I did the see that in the video but wanted to double check because that was one of my nitpicks of the Ace Pro. There's a lot of times I wanted to swap my camera position on my motorcycle to get better angles but having to undo the mount sucks.
Yes it can via bluetooth but it doesn't sound as good as it does when paired to the DJI Action 5 Pro due to the propriertary direct connection DJI can leverage being under the same brand. Insta360 connects as if it's any other bluetooth mic so it sounds a bit like a phone call rather than a high quality mic. You can connect the DJI Mic 2's receiver via USB for a cleaner connection but it gets a bit bulky.
@@ChaseTheSummitdo you happen to know if you can connect other external mics? E.g. I have hollyland lark m2 usb c version. Unclear if can directly attach or if door on camera comes off. Any thoughts from your experience? Thanks
I’m considering two cameras: the DJI Action 5 Pro and the Insta ACE 360 Pro 2. I like that the DJI has a Dive mode and displays depth. Does the Insta have a Dive mode as well? Which one would be better for diving?
The Insta360 has lost the title of action cam for me, as a water sports channel on TH-cam, the camera fell off the mount while I was surfing. The system is not safe! In addition, I have tried to contact Insta360 in countless ways, but completely without response. So if you rely on Insta for support, you are lost. Loved the pictures in the videos. But unfortunately that's not enough. very sad had a loss of over 1000 dollars on the day of shooting...Thanks Insta for that.
No, In fact they can cause more harm than good by trapping moisture inside and promoting corrosion. Fun fact: COROS used to ship plugs with their watches until they learned it was causing moisture damage!
Do you have recordings on a bike/motorcycle of all 3? With my current GoPro 7 i have a lott of wind noise going on, especially anoying on elektric bikes where all you hear is wind buffeting. A solid but compact solution to that might get me on board with a new camera.
I did some cycling with the Ace Pro 2. The wind muff makes a big difference when wind is hitting the camera straight on. So if the camera is facing forwards into the wind. But when it's faced towards the rider you still get a bit of wind noise though its significantly better than without the wind muff.
10-bit is really only useful for color grading and editing. You have more headroom to adjust things without it getting noisy or gradients appearing. But if you're not editing or grading 8-bit is 100% fine!
The action 5 pro is only 50 bucks cheaper than the ace pro 2, however, is the ace pro 2 a better camera? You talk highly of both the action 5 and the ace pro 2 and i cant decide hahaha, i dont want anything too crazy, just the best all round, some vlogs, nice pictures nice videos diving and motorbiking. What about the action 4? Its on sale rn and pretty cheap
Problem is... they're both awesome. I guess choosing should come down to the form factor. Do you like the flip up LCD? Or would you rather have two OLED displays on front/back. I prefer having a small preview on the front without needing to flip anything. But that's just my use case!
It's in the video in multiple locations. First during the hardware overview where I'm riding a bike with windscreen and later during the audio test with wind screen attached. It's very effective!
The DJI is super fast to turn on however it's a bit of a party trick. If you let the camera sit for too long it will fall into a "deep sleep" where it takes a couple of seconds to turn back on. The 0.3 second startup only works if you're actively using the camera multiple times within a certain time. Still... super handy!
Question: I think the Go Pro stabilization has to go through an App on your phone. Does the Ace Pro 2 need to do that also or can you just pull out the SSD card and plug it into your computer editing software? Thank You
@@m.legato3698 GoPros stabilization is baked in and doesn’t need the app. None of these cameras do unless you’re in specific modes like insta360’s free frame mode.
For me, the Ace Pro 2’s colors and overall end image aesthetics look more natural. I prefer the 8-bit over 10-bit, as it helps with face tracking. That’s important for me as an IRL streamer. The 10-bit drains the battery in under an hour on my other cameras though ☹
@@ChaseTheSummit oh that’s VERY interesting. That is going to simultaneously make a lot of people mad and happy. Like most things these days. lol. Thank you for the comparison. No doubt, these are both great cameras. I would argue that form factor and features wise, they are different enough to get both, which (sadly to my bank account) I probably eventually will. Hey, quick question, I have the GoPro Hero 12, is that the same sensor as the GoPro 13? I love my GoPro 12 (in good light). Thanks for all the info! Great content on your channel!
I do not trust all these videos published on the day of the premiere with cameras provided by manufacturer. Especially in relation to Insta, which had problems with corrupting youtubers.
Trust what you want. I'm fully transparent about my relationship with the brand within the first couple of minutes of this video. They sent me a camera early to test and review and provide feedback. They did not pay me. They did not see this video prior to its release. They did not have any control over my thoughts or opinions.
For the low light stuff, you kind of did DJI dirty here, because they have actual night modes that are substantially better - and in my opinion likely measurably better than the Ace Pro 2. You also kept DJI and GoPro in 8 bit normal color when they both have 10 bit options even without log. This isn’t a fair or true comparison
Without being stubborn and no regret, I don't mind having the 1st gen of this. The fact that I have to fiddle with the wind protection screen is kinda awkward. What if I don't have it with me and I'm going to water?
I will never understand why so many people out there that use a so-called swear word in a half ass manner. Why not just say that it was "dope." That gets you point across just as well as saying that it was dope as fuck. Edit: To be clear, it is the self censoring that I don't get. If you don't want to swear, then why not just use non-swear words.
As mentioned in the video this is an 8-bit camera even in I-LOG mode. Though, you can still grade the footage (I used their LUT in this video) it can't be pushed super hard without seeing some gradients and noise in the shaddows.
100% dji 5 for the win as video quality looks far better ace 2 looks to cartoonish. il go with dji and nicer screen bit smaller and its adji .OVER AND OUT
@@ChaseTheSummit It's not pure video stab in the ace pro, it's either low light stab during Pure Video or during other video mode. But that setting is not saved for quick capture. It's so stupid. It saves the color profile, it saves the EV setting, but never the low light stab! Are you sure that that setting is turned on or off if that was last used for quick capture?
Like I said, this only happens in a VERY unique situation under strangely colored lights. In just about every other scenario the AP2 and AP5 look very similar. In some cases the AP2 is superior in other cases the AP5 looks better. They both use the same sensor so that's not surprising. I suspect that Insta360 will fix the funky colored light situation in a firmware update in the near future.
I don't think they have a spec. In my experience it seems like 15 inches or so which is fine for vlogging situations. The GoPro can get a little bit closer but not by much unless you use the macro lens. It's a significant improvement over the Ace Pro 1.
@@ChaseTheSummit dang. For FPV, was hoping you could remove the battery for weight savings especially since the camera is heavier than the competition. May have to stick with GoPro =/
It really only happens in one specific use case under weirdly colored lights. I suspect Insta360 will fix that via firmware. In just about every other scenario the Ace Pro 2 is superior.
I had a call with them and they were super interested in what I had to say. It seems like they're working on it. The fact that they use the same sensor as DJI means it's definitely a software bug.
Necessary? No. But it's a nice perk considering the DJI is $50 cheaper and includes it. Handy if you forget an SD card, have a corrupt SD card, lose your SD card while out filming, etc... to have a backup storage and enough of it to film for a couple of hours!
Thank Chase the Summit for this DETAILED video. I love your HONESTY when you say this video is NOT SPONSORED even though you receive the camera for free. I won't buy it because of 2 reasons. First, it's still only 8 bit color while GoPro 13 & DJI Action 5 support 10 bit. From my experience, after I edit the 8 bit color footage, the color becomes muddy, not vibrant as the original footage. Second, I'm sure that version 2 of this camera still requires the user to download its mobile app and register the camera before being allowed to use it. It's a huge privacy concern for me. GoPro does not require this.
great review, but unfortunately another video full of DJI bots...the only thing that Insta360 didn't do well on the ace pro 2 is not buying bots😅people chose to be blind and ignore the huge advantage of the ap2 in low light come on
You sound like a bot. First of all there is no huge advantage. That sounds like misinformation to me. The difference in low light performance between the Ace Pro 2 and Action Cam 5 is objectively small. Second of all, he is not saying to buy the DJI over the Insta360. He very clearly said that they are all good cameras and each camera has their own pros and cons. Thirdly, how can you say "another great video, but unfortunately another video full of DJI bots..." That is a total contradiction.
@@ChaseTheSummit All of it. The lowlight performance actually seems worse. The image looks out of focus. I was really hoping they would give us a front facing video screen like the GoPro and Osmo Action 5.
Do you know every user in the world? lol. I'm sure someone out there was like "WOW! Just what I needed!" but I'm sure it's a small percentage. Still... it's a free feature so why not take it.
Apparently, you were not paying very close attention to the video. He said in the video exactly what you just stated. Of course no one wants to charge their phone with their camera. This feature is an Emergency Use feature. This is something that could help you in an emergency type situation. Just like the internal storage in the Action Cam 5. The amount of storage they give you is insignificant. You would only use the internal storage if you forgot your SD card.
I currently have a hero 11 black. I saved up money for the new GoPro & was super disappointed that they didn’t address the low light issue. To me that was priority #1! So, I kept my money & waited for this camera to be released! I will be buying one this week! Good review video!!!
Ok weird question. How is the zoom ok ? So if 2x at 8k and you get 4k the video is still saved at 8k no ? Isn't it the same that gp does with 1.2 ie zoom (or post process ) at 5.3 k? Of course less zoom but still, you don't want to upscale the 4k either to 5.3k or 8k ... Right ? Or am I silly ? And hey great video bruv. Thank you so much.
The zoom is great on the Ace Pro 2 because it's cropping into an 8K image instead of digitally sharpening a 4k crop. So you're getting true lossless 4K even at 2x zoom.
Action cameras are for action. Like, you're probably not going to strap your iPhone to the front of a dirt bike and send it off a ramp. That's why Action Cam's still exist. In just about every other scenario phones are superior in terms of image quality.

In-depth review!A Very great action camera comparsion🤩
I agree the thread mount would be useful, dont care for the internal storage, i worry it may affect heat and cold weather performance. Plus a company adding internal storage isn't going to choose the best fastest options. So better to just let us choose ur storage options
But I get it
Not sure about heat.
@ChaseTheSummit just say RobHK review
He discovered action 5 pro runs for 2hr41min at 25°c 4k30fps vs 1hr50min ace pro 2
I hope someone tries simulation 35°c and -10°c or something 😢
I have DJI Osmo Action 5. It’s great! My favorite action camera right now.
A big Thumbs Up. I would love to see you running down the road or trail with 4 pocket cams on a selfie stick!!! All joking aside, love your videos.
This is a well done review. I pushed the like button!
Interesting review - I'm glad however that I went for the DJI Action 5 Pro, I was concerned the new Ace Pro 2 would blow it out of the water, but I don't think it does, although low light performance is better.
They're all so good now. The OAP5 is an awesome camera and I love having the front display and OLED tech.
Comparison video is what I like! Liked and subscribed.
i hope in the next iteration they bring in 10 bit color and a 1 inch stacked sensor for faster read out and also inbuilt storage like the dji .....nice work 👍
Best review i saw so far for the ace pro 2
TH-cam algorithim doesnt like u though maybe add some extra hastags
Because when i searched

Maybe because ur video title doesn't say action 5 pro just say dji
Thanks, for some reason YT doesn't like me today ugh.
I think for now I’ll stick with my Ace Pro 1, I was hoping that the new Pro 2 would offer 10 bit and maybe increase the sensor a little bit. But don’t see any major improvements to get the new version. Thanks for the info in you review 👍🏼
For me it's the microphone. It's SO much better.
@@ChaseTheSummit Well, I got the microphone adapter and I use an external mic, so that’s not a very important upgrade for me, Thanks for your reply!!
Insta 360 Ace Pro ❤️👑
Insta 360 Ace Pro 2 ❤️👑
I like dji OA 5 Pro. More cheaper and also already have a memory. But the Ace Pro 2. Just like you making a real vlog camera. For the flip screen.
Thanks for your sharing. How ACE PRO 2 performance while diving
Haven't dived with it so I cannot comment!
Great review as always! It’s better than the original, but still looks a little out of focus close up.
They all do. The downside of fixed focus cameras!
As a IRL live streamer (meaning UVC/RTMP mode). What functions will work? Pure Video? Stabilization? Higher resolutions than 1080p30?
I think the DJI Action 4 combined with the DJI Mic 2 is the best bang for the buck even over the DJI Action 5. I don't see anything that would make me switch from DJI or even adding the AP2 to my growing bag of cameras because it doesn't do anything different or better.
You are alone, I take the DJI 5 over the DJI4 anyday, even if they would sell it for 1 dollar
Please do a video comparing the ace Pro 2 to the DJI pocket 3. Thank you
Kinda like comparing apples to oranges.
Good review thx u. I looking buy GoPro more now got to think about peo2 and DJI
Let's mention a major difference in these cameras. If you buy one today the DJI and Ace Pro will probably still work a year from now, the GoPro will likely have a defect by then.
The last time GoPro had defect issues was in the 9 series I think? The 10, 11, and 12 were all pretty reliable.
Thanks.
It does but Megaview is pretty linear as well while also being wider
@@ChaseTheSummitAll I needed to know to pull the trigger - Cheers 👍
Nice basic review. I am a orienteering runner. Can you include a clip in 4k 4:3 60fp running in the forest and a camera mounted on a head strap?
Which one is have ( pause/resume recording) feature??? I will go for that. Thanks
I think Insta360 is the only one that does that.
Your videos are awesome, I have the basis to buy a new machine.❤❤
Great review! Can the DJI Mic 2 be connected directly to the Insta360 Ace Pro 2?
Yes it can via bluetooth but it doesn't sound as good as it does when paired to the DJI Action 5 Pro due to the propriertary direct connection DJI can leverage being under the same brand. Insta360 connects as if it's any other bluetooth mic so it sounds a bit like a phone call rather than a high quality mic. You can connect the DJI Mic 2's receiver via USB for a cleaner connection but it gets a bit bulky.
@@ChaseTheSummit Thanks for the reply Chase!
@@ChaseTheSummitdo you happen to know if you can connect other external mics? E.g. I have hollyland lark m2 usb c version. Unclear if can directly attach or if door on camera comes off. Any thoughts from your experience? Thanks
@@CreativeStudiosFM you can directly attach usb mics including the Hollyland, DJI and Rode. The camera also accepts Bluetooth connections.

I’m considering two cameras: the DJI Action 5 Pro and the Insta ACE 360 Pro 2. I like that the DJI has a Dive mode and displays depth. Does the Insta have a Dive mode as well? Which one would be better for diving?
The DJI is the only camera with a depth sensor. The Ace Pro has an enhanced underwater mode and can go to depths of 39 feet without a case.
@@ChaseTheSummit So, does Insta handle underwater use better than DJI?
@@manius_dive they’re pretty similar. Colors on the Ace Pro are supposed to be better but I haven’t done a whole bunch of testing in water.
@@ChaseTheSummit And here it's a difficult choice, a diving camera, DJI or Insta😱
Ace pro 2 has issue
When recording in cold environment inside the lens guard get foggy.
Insta360 suggests using their metal quick release mount for high intensity activities like watersports. Were you using the included plastic mount?
@@ChaseTheSummit Yes, I think that was the mistake, but I think for an actioncam this must be included in the accessories.
Total different question is there any advantages to using the dust cover plugs on the charging port on the Fenix watches?
No, In fact they can cause more harm than good by trapping moisture inside and promoting corrosion. Fun fact: COROS used to ship plugs with their watches until they learned it was causing moisture damage!
@@ChaseTheSummit well the I’m removing mine now from the 8. Thank you so much for that info!!!! Much appreciated!
@@ChaseTheSummit
It will be faced forwards in Motocross/enduro with me.
How does it compare to the GoPro and the other camera's?
For social sharing, 10-bit is not even supported. I see no issue with 8-bit.
25mins video and you forgot the performance of mic with foam attached against wind noise or am i missing that clip?
It's in the video in multiple locations. First during the hardware overview where I'm riding a bike with windscreen and later during the audio test with wind screen attached. It's very effective!
It seems DJI’s 0.3 sec delay for turning on the device is the only consideration i need to think about.😢
The DJI is super fast to turn on however it's a bit of a party trick.
@@ChaseTheSummit Thank You, Looking forward to see more of your videos!
For me, the Ace Pro 2’s colors and overall end image aesthetics look more natural. I prefer the 8-bit over 10-bit, as it helps with face tracking. That’s important for me as an IRL streamer. The 10-bit drains the battery in under an hour on my other cameras though ☹
See 16:34, so weird......
I love my action 5 pro. Tbh, they look similar!
The Ace Pro 2 and DJI Action 5 both use the same sensor... which might explain why they look so similar!

Hey, quick question, I have the GoPro Hero 12, is that the same sensor as the GoPro 13? I love my GoPro 12 (in good light). Thanks for all the info! Great content on your channel!
@@babyboy1971 yup Hero 12 and 13 share the same sensor. It’s great in good light but suffers in the dark.

I don't think so. I don't think USB-C on this camera supports HDMI out.
Without being stubborn and no regret, I don't mind having the 1st gen of this. The fact that I have to fiddle with the wind protection screen is kinda awkward. What if I don't have it with me and I'm going to water?
You can simply remove the wind screen. The camera is waterproof without either of the covers.

@@ChaseTheSummit It's not pure video stab in the ace pro, it's either low light stab during Pure Video or during other video mode. But that setting is not saved for quick capture. It's so stupid. wow sorry just found out this was fixed in an firmware update. Anyway thanks for your review. It looks like I am still good with the original ace pro.
16:12 AP5 much better looking here, and much cheaper
Like I said, this only happens in a VERY unique situation under strangely colored lights. In just about every other scenario the AP2 and AP5 look very similar. In some cases the AP2 is superior in other cases the AP5 looks better. They both use the same sensor so that's not surprising.
I suspect that Insta360 will fix the funky colored light situation in a firmware update in the near future.
Will the DJI drone ban affect their cameras?
@@SamuraiSmm I don’t think so
you have excat data of nearest focus length? i think gopro13 is better than this thing on that part
I don't think they have a spec. In my experience it seems like 15 inches or so which is fine for vlogging situations. The GoPro can get a little bit closer but not by much unless you use the macro lens. It's a significant improvement over the Ace Pro 1.
How is the photo quality?
Good for an action camera but any high end phone will take better pictures
Did they address the focusing issue?
Yes
Does the AP2 work plugged into USB-C power without the battery?
No, still needs the battery but it can be powered via USB.
@@ChaseTheSummit dang. For FPV, was hoping you could remove the battery for weight savings especially since the camera is heavier than the competition. May have to stick with GoPro =/

I hope insta software patches that dark mode blurry purple face issue u mentioned tysm
I had a call with them and they were super interested in what I had to say. It seems like they're working on it. The fact that they use the same sensor as DJI means it's definitely a software bug.
Is built-in storage really necessary? I wouldn't buy a camera just for that. It’s not even a selling point.
Necessary? No. But it's a nice perk considering the DJI is $50 cheaper and includes it. Handy if you forget an SD card, have a corrupt SD card, lose your SD card while out filming, etc... to have a backup storage and enough of it to film for a couple of hours!
Excellent
GoPro does not require this.

great review, but unfortunately another video full of DJI bots...the only thing that Insta360 didn't do well on the ace pro 2 is not buying bots😅people chose to be blind and ignore the huge advantage of the ap2 in low light come on
Is that what's going on here? Because the comment section on action camera videos seems to be a dumpster fire compared to other topics lol.
You sound like a bot. First of all there is no huge advantage. That sounds like misinformation to me. The difference in low light performance between the Ace Pro 2 and
Action Cam 5 is objectively small. Second of all, he is not saying to buy the DJI over the Insta360. He very clearly said that they are all good cameras and each camera has their own pros and cons. Thirdly, how can you say "another great video, but unfortunately another video full of DJI bots..." That is a total contradiction.
Extremely disappointing. I'll wait for the Ace Pro 3.
@@Cameraflyer- what part did you consider disappointing?

Insta360 wasting money partnering with leica instead of making the action cam great.
I mean, it seems like a good lens? I wonder what the license fee costs? What isn't great about this in you opinion?
Why is it a waste of money?
Nobody wants to charge their phone off their camera. It's more of a party trick than anything.
