I bought a S10 42mm and I'm happy with it, definitely has made me more motivated to exercise. Can't complain about anything, the battery lasts enough and I can charge it in about 30 mins while I rest during the day.
I upgraded from a 41 stainless steel Series 7 to the 46mm titanium. I had initially ordered the 42mm but after trying the 46mm out in the Apple Store on launch day, I decided to go for that one. Or to pause the podcast just as I hear it's going to talk about today's sponsor (I'm allergic to ads) - weight: it's noticeably lighter. And I have always only gotten stainless steel models in the past for the sapphire display. But I always disliked its weight which aside from the fact it feels heavier, it also makes taptic feedback less noticeable. - increased peak brightness of 2000 nits: I do hikes and this is great in sunlight - double storage: very useful for storing my music, podcasts and Wikiloc trails - faster chip: the S7 wasn't slow at all but the chip in the S10 is snappier There's other upgrades from the Series 7 but those are the main reasons I upgraded.
Which color did you get? And which band? How is it handling scratches? I’m planning to upgrade from my Series 7 Graphite Stainless Steel to the Series 10 46mm Slate. As my battery life is starting to degrade and I do a lot of wilderness hiking and jogging in the bush of down under. I only take my watch off while sharing going to the toilet in the mornings and it’s usually charged within the time I’m ready to go and have breakfast etc .
I have the Apple watch SE Gen 1 (GPS+Cellular). I am seriously considering upgrading to the Series 10; however, I believe that there will be another iteration of the Apple watch within 1 year or sooner. I have A-Fib and want to have the ability to send my irregular heartbeats to my cardiologist. I also wish Apple would bring back the Product (Red) color.
Hey, wanted to chip in; had a series 8 previously, but find myself using this watch for a reason no one even mentions in reviews and that’s the double tap -yeah, not new i know; find it handy especially when cycling, to start/stop the music or podcast without having to find the right button and occupy a second hand etc. It works pretty well as long as the wrist orientation is set correctly. Great review as always:)
I have a series 10, coming from the SE aka AW4 with small upgrades, I really like this watch but I wish they would’ve left the blood oxygen feature on the watch. I was this 🤏🏽 to buying an ultra 2 but I’m happy with my choice.
There are no additional “AI cores” in the S10 SIP. Both the S9 and S10 feature 64 bit dual-core processors with four-core neural engines. The primary advancement with the S10 SiP is its single-sided design, which contributes to a thinner overall profile for the Series 10 watch. This design refinement allows for a more streamlined and comfortable fit on the wrist. However, in terms of raw processing power and capabilities, there is no significant performance difference between the S9 and S10 SiPs.
The HR on my Ultra sucked; constantly losing contact. It also screwed my VO2 Max and I could never get it back - it dropped by 10 points overnight for no reason. The sleep data on my Ultra was wrong too, grossly underestimating deep sleep. I've traded it for an S10 and hope that should sort it out (my S7 worked perfectly before I got my Ultra).

They're very different. The Apple Watch is a much smarter smart watch. LTE on board, thousands of apps to choose from, tight integration with the apple ecosystem (respond to messages etc...). The T-Rex is a bit more of a sport watch but sort of a hybrid. Kind of depends what you're looking for.
I don’t understand the white line on the training load graph. Is each day along the white line the average load of the previous 28 days? For example, October 1 on the white line is the average load from September 2nd-October 1?
Hi, what about the current pace? I have done some runs with my series 10 and I see a big fluctuation on my pace even though I know I’m doing it consistently. Do you know what could happen?
Can we pair and use two Apple Watches to an iPhone/ single Apple ID ? I am using the Apple Watch 6 and at the moment cannot decide between the 10 and Ultra . If I can easily swap between the two without resetting the watch I would probably consider having two watches.
@@bengoey Yes actually its really easy. You just switch watches, put the code in, and raise your wrist. Then everything syncs as expected. The only thing that doesnt transfer is any esim. That stays only on the watch you loaded it on
It’s the same sensor. Thought it’s probably a smidge more accurate on the S10 due to its smaller form factor and lighter weight but that’s going to vary from person to person. Both are quite good.
@@ChaseTheSummit thank you for the reply! I do have another question for you. I bought the ultra2 and I am really liking it because of the battery. My only issue is that I have heard the s10 heart rate sensor is more accurate because of its form factor like you said. I am thinking of returning my ultra and getting an S10. The youtuber the quantified scientist also found the accuracy to be different between the two watches . Now while I like the ultra2 battery I am not willing to exchange accuracy for battery My question for and I know it varies person to person. If accuracy is the determining factor between picking the ultra2 or S10 what would you pick? Or is the difference so small that it does not matter?
So if the lawsuit were to eventually be resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties, we could regain the blood oxygen sensor functionality in some future update?
@@ChaseTheSummit oh I agree I was just been more realistic but yeah 48h on the series and 72h to 96h on the ultra and the Apple Watch becomes the best of the best for sport and smart watches for the Everyman
Im always so happy when i see a notification that you released new video, even if it's about AW, i still watch it cause.... Well, your videos are the best lol Keep doing amazing work
Whats the resason to buy this ? I have Suunto Race not a sports man using it like a smartwatch but at least I need to charge it every few weeks. Had two AW SE 2 and sold both cuz of battery life and sensors, that’s the only apple product that I think is just useless and stupidly expensive it’s worth no more than 120 euros not 280
The reason? I'd say because it's a far superior "smart watch" than most of the dedicated sport watch options out there from Garmin, Suunto, Polar, COROS, etc... Not really comparable considering this one is basically a tiny phone on your wrist with LTE connectivity, streaming music, phone call capabilities, siri, thousands of apps to choose from and the tight integration with Apple. Different tools for different jobs!
@@ChaseTheSummit I use it only for heart and steps that’s all and notifications that’s all what I need. And battery life I don’t need another phone what I need to charge every day
Many people can get over 3 days battery on the Ultra 2 so long as you aren't using cellular and aren't playing with it constantly. I'm hoping that Apple will squeeze in a bigger battery next year (they have been experimenting with silicon anode batteries) and also put in a 3nm SIP that increases efficiency. If we could comfortably get 5 days from a charge and 7+ days on low power mode I think we would be in a really comfortable spot. I mean I still get a little over 2 days on my Ultra 1 and it's fine but I wouldn't complain about longer battery life and faster charging! One day they will charge so fast that you won't even need to take it off. Just push it up against a charging pad (think similar to paywave) and bing, you're back to 100%.
No, I have the original Ultra, wish the battery lasted longer, especially since I have almost all the notifications shut down, sad.... Garmin? maybe....
And because of the need to charge more frequently, fast charging enables people to increase the number of charge cycles quicker over the watch’s lifetime. Which means you’ll need a battery replacement or new watch sooner. Apple and their planned obsolescence.
It's got LTE, and a full blown smartphone CPU on board which explains the less than stellar battery life. I'd like to see more but this is sort of the norm for these high powered smartwatches like the Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch, or Pixel Watch.
@@ChaseTheSummitthats true, but instead of making it slimmer they could have increased the battery size and keep the same thickness as the series 9. Im still considering buying the next ultra if garmin doesn’t bring a fenix with lte within the next year. Thank you for the detailed review.
The other watches that last longer than this one don’t even come close to the performance of the Apple Watch. It’s easy to have longer battery life when you’re running a low resolution, 30hz display with a slow processor and absolutely trash integration between the watch and the phone.
Both provide the same metrics and details for running purposes. The main difference will be longer battery life in the Ultra but if you're not running ultramarathons that won't matter much. Series 10 is a great option!
@ thank you! My main concern was the GPS accuracy. I heard the AWU2 was a better option for the accuracy but if the series 10 is just as accurate that’s great!

I usually have one on each wrist lol
Hi, what about the current pace? I have done some runs with my series 10 and I see a big fluctuation on my pace even though I know I’m doing it consistently. Do you know what could happen?
Send it back and Get the ultra
I upgraded from AWU to series 10. The AWU feels like a clunker in comparison when running.
You should really make more advertisements for your podcast. Never known you had one
It’s going to get a facelift soon and I’ll be advertising more! Thanks for tuning in!
Was getting annoyed with the weight and size of the AWU (1) so I added a series 10 to mainline and I have the Ultra for bigger adventures only
Can we pair and use two Apple Watches to an iPhone/ single Apple ID ? I am using the Apple Watch 6 and at the moment cannot decide between the 10 and Ultra . If I can easily swap between the two without resetting the watch I would probably consider having two watches.
@@bengoey Yes actually its really easy. You just switch watches, put the code in, and raise your wrist. Then everything syncs as expected. The only thing that doesnt transfer is any esim. That stays only on the watch you loaded it on
Which watch has the more accurate heart rate sensor apple watch 10 or Ultra 2?
Now while I like the ultra2 battery I am not willing to exchange accuracy for battery
My question for and I know it varies person to person. If accuracy is the determining factor between picking the ultra2 or S10 what would you pick? Or is the difference so small that it does not matter?
Out of curiosity what is your go to watch?
What if you have a series 8? Would you upgrade to 10?
Don’t.
What band are you using in the video with the s10?
The "Ink" color sport loop
What shoes are you using in those walking shots?
Looks like altra olympus 5
In some of the shots it's Hoka Tecton X3, in the road running shots it's Hoka Mach X2 and I think there's some Altra Olympus 5 in there as well.
@@ChaseTheSummit looked like hoka's to me, thank you! Liked the look of them.
So if the lawsuit were to eventually be resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties, we could regain the blood oxygen sensor functionality in some future update?
@@roncoleman8351 that’s my understanding
I wish they had more training information like Garmin. Now it’s just “low or high effort” 😅
24h battery life and action button and you perfect the Apple Watch for everyone
How about 48 hour battery life? That's the dream! lol
@@ChaseTheSummit oh I agree I was just been more realistic but yeah 48h on the series and 72h to 96h on the ultra and the Apple Watch becomes the best of the best for sport and smart watches for the Everyman
I think most play the same game with thickness... Except for Garmin.
Yep, they all do.
we are all born with series10 hands to count with....
Man, to compare wide angel you have to have same watchface on! you cant have a black watchface and one with many colors!
Apple gives a $170 trade-in on the Series 9.
great review… as usual !!!❤
Im always so happy when i see a notification that you released new video, even if it's about AW, i still watch it cause.... Well, your videos are the best lol Keep doing amazing work
Thank you!
18hours battery😂 our planet has a 24hours orbit!
And battery life I don’t need another phone what I need to charge every day
Hi 🇬🇷
Garmin? maybe....
You might have faulty S7? As Apple states that S7 and above fast charging is 0-80% in 45 minutes.
Mines a couple of years old. Maybe that's the issue.
@@ChaseTheSummit Check battery status. If you have Apple Care and it's below 80% I beleive you get a free battery replacement.
And because of the need to charge more frequently, fast charging enables people to increase the number of charge cycles quicker over the watch’s lifetime.
Which means you’ll need a battery replacement or new watch sooner. Apple and their planned obsolescence.
Ok mr yapper what is the 1 reason then?
Stick to Tiktok if you can't watch the video long enough to find out lol.
18-24 hours of battery life. Unacceptable in 2024
It's got LTE, and a full blown smartphone CPU on board which explains the less than stellar battery life.
Still no continuous HR on this one? That's the main thing stopping me from buying Apple watches for years...
trash...
Is the series 10 a good choice for running? Or the AWU2 is the better option?
Both provide the same metrics and details for running purposes. The main difference will be longer battery life in the Ultra but if you're not running ultramarathons that won't matter much. Series 10 is a great option!
@ thank you! My main concern was the GPS accuracy. I heard the AWU2 was a better option for the accuracy but if the series 10 is just as accurate that’s great!
