I agree DJI’s LOG profile is great and fits well in our workflow. The ACE2 Pro’ LOG profile is flat and lacks details. We’ve been forced to use Hero 12s in certain scenarios where DJI couldn’t handle engine vibrations on some boats.
10bit, better mics including sound from wireless Mic2, longer battery life, more compact dimensions, 2 touch displays, internal memory, .........for me the choice is clear
although it could be argued that the video tend to look more artificial, with the latest update it seems to drain battery way quicker when using a high bitrate option, i feel they could've done it a tad better to be the clear winner
Thanks for this detailed review! It looks like the Ace Pro 2, same as the 1st, sits somewhere between action and vlogging. Imo the Action 5 Pro is currently the one to get for real action due to its size, ruggedness, and better battery life. I heard Europe's battery is restricted by regulations, but it's no issue here in the US. When you use the Action 5 Pro to its fullest, including the 10-bit log profile and proper color grading, the image quality is impressive. It also seems to have more accurate color reproduction to me (based on the past 2 weeks use).
From all the videos i’ve seen, i’d say go pro looks best in good lighting, ace pro 2 in low light, and action 5 is a good midrange that does decent at both.
If both cameras are priced the same, I recommend the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro because: 1. More Practical for Everyday Use: Features dual touchscreens (front and rear), making it easier for vlogging or selfies. RockSteady 3.0+ stabilization is perfect for outdoor activities like hiking, running, or cycling. 2. Durability: Waterproof up to 20 meters without additional casing, ideal for water sports or wet conditions. 3. Color Quality and Post-Production Ease: Supports 10-bit color with D-Log M or HLG, offering greater flexibility during video editing. 4. Battery Life: Larger battery (1950mAh) and longer recording time, great for extended trips without frequent recharging. While the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 excels in 8K resolution, this feature is rarely necessary for daily use or casual hobbies. On the other hand, the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro strikes a balance between video quality, practicality, and ruggedness for various environments. Conclusion: Choose the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro for a more versatile and practical option.
When it comes to digital zoom, which one is better? I got the old insta360 ace pro, is DJI action pro better than the Ace Pro? Thanks! Love your amazing channel!!
Hi Anthony - the Ace Pro 2 is only able to zoom in by factor of 2x but then the quality is much better than with the Action 5 (which is able to gradually zoom in)
Overall Dji Action 5 pro is Unbeaten. Low light performance of Action 5 pro Just Incomparable ❤. My opinion DJI action 5 pro is the best Action Camera Right Now.
Awesome camera! I still stick to Action 5 Pro due to way better scuba diving options. I tested Action 5 Pro in different conditions and trust it more now.
@@thomasdeveirman9644 sure. First of all - 20meters depth without a housing. A color correction by the pressure sensor. A front screen, so you don’t need to open the display for an underwater selfies. At least those are major.
@@SupersonicTraveller thanks. I Will mainly use it for snorkeling, won't color grade and always use a housing so most of those advantages don't really matter much to me. If u had the action 5 i wouldn't change either, but coming from a gp11 i'll switch to ap2
@@insta360 you need more testing underwater. I did a weeek scuba diving trip with action 5 pro and I trust this camera. So far - not clear how Insta Ace 2 Pro will behave.
DJI offers 2 wireless lapel microphones, internal memory and time code features. Does the other one have these? Internal memory is not important, but if time code and a wireless microphone are connected, without a receiver or if it doesn't say to buy a device like a GoPro for the cable, my preference is Ace Pro 2 for 8K, otherwise these are DJI. Can those who know explain?
I have the action 5 pro and I love it. I would argue that with the DJI mic, the audio is a draw. Perhaps even better on the Action 5. I love my action 5 but to be honest I am already saving up to get an Ace pro 2. I think this is the year of “get both.” 😂 Thank you for the fair and honest review. In the end, both of these rock and it’s amazing how far action cameras have come! 👍👍
The comparison is like it was sent to you from ace pro 2 team. Good summary but items to comparison we’re picked specially to prove launch of ac pro 2. Additionally like with disparate you assigned point base on your preference.
For me AP2 is my choice. I don’t need 10k bit cause I don’t want to colorgrade. I need point and shoot camera and a better mic is an advantage as I don’t like to add any accessories on it.
Thx for this review. Is horizon lock now available in Pure Video mode? Also, can the pause/resume recording be initiated by main record button on top or just from the screen?
Great video, and up to date. Seeing direct comparisons is important to me. I very much appreciated you going over all the features, including ones that might not seem relevant
I am still happy that I didn't wait and bought action 5. I have insta x4 and I agree that the app is much better in insta but for an action cam the most important for me is battery life and the fact that is 20m waterproof and I always dive to 15m is a game changer. Also but in storage is a fantastic must have. Also gopro and insta are way to bulky for an action cam if installed on the helmet. Flip screen is also in my opinion bad choice for the real action cam
Would love a more in depth youtube short about heat and cold weather testing (simulated indoors is fine). 40°c testing and -15 or something Because my friend has a go pro and it struggled to capture content on our beach and dessert vacations as it overheated and shutdown Action 5 pro performs amazing in the heat, but I was waiting for ace pro 2 temperature tests before deciding to buy dji action 5 pro or insta360 ace pro 2
I was looking for this comparison. 👍🏻Thanks. Now I have to buy both of them 😂😂😂😂... Although I love Insta360 the most. Love your work 👍🏻👍🏻big hug from Argentina!
Recent reviews of action cameras seem to forget the "action" part... Smaller body is good, but smaller weight is also incredibly important for any type of helmet mounting, even more so for side-mounting. Combining both, the moment of force is 42% worse for the Ace Pro 2, and moment of inertia 80% worse. This disqualifies the Ace Pro 2 for helmet mounting in high intensity sports in my opinion. The AP2, afaict, is a vlogging camera with some action veneer (and it's not a very good vlogging camera compared to the Pocket 3 for instance). The Ac5P is an action camera with some vlogging veneer. They look to me like they're in different categories.
Hmm, don't forget that this is only true if you use the Action5 without frame. If you use it with the frame both cameras are very close in size and weight. And for many action sports (skiing, biking etc) the chest mount is the better choice than the helmet mount...
@MountMediaChannel but then we're comparing a camera with protective frame, and a camera with no protective frame :) To be honest it never crossed my mind to use the protective frame. It's an action camera, it should be able to be banged about a bit! Should you prefer helmet mounting (which many do in skiing for convenience - and I personally like to be able to zip/unzip my layers - and of course there are sports like paragliding/paramotoring where it gives a great POV compared to chest mount), the Ac5P is just more flexible :)
Nice comparison ! Is the Ace Pro 2 still wider than the OA5 when on 45 degree horizon leveling stabilization? I normally use the OA4 for short property videos and the horizon leveling at 4k has about 17mm equivalent fov on a full frame and sometimes that's not wide enough for tight spaces. Also I noticed all the Osmo Actions have a drifting horizon leveling issue. (GoPro is really solid in that regard) If the Ace Pro 2 is managing to get that 15-16mm fov in 45 degree horizon leveling mode and no horizon drifting issues, I'm getting it immediately lol
Hi - I think both cameras are great - you can't do anything wrong. So do you want a smaller and a bit cheaper camera (A5) or a camera with flip screen, more software features and a slightly better performance in low light?
Made just a few vids in snow - I still have to test it when skiing. But I didn't have any issues with the Ace Pro 1 and the X4 last year. There is lots of skiing footage on my channel.
Well, if you compare the A5 and the AP2 in the standard settings the Dynamic Range is very similar/almost identical. So you can be sure DJI applies HDR processing. They just don't call it HDR
@@MountMediaChannel not it doesn’t even look close to HDR what comes out of the A5 Pro. I did compare them and it’s like night and day of a difference. A clean natural look from the DJI a Overpowered fake HDR from the AP2.
@@MountMediaChannel, yes that’s strange because as far as I know, A5P is always HDR. I don’t see where you can turn this off like with AP/AP2. I have the A5P and AP.
Somehow I feel the review is biased, there were categories in which the DJI won clearly yet you managed to make it a tie, I dont own any of the cameras yet, looking at video reviews to see which way I go but man do I see a lack of objectivity here in many points.
@@MountMediaChannel First and foremost thanks for the content you create, love the editing and I appreciate the work you go through to put this together, you have a nice flow to present the ideas and points, however; here are my thoughts: @1:06 your black shirt looks washed out in AP2 - better black in A5P @1:29 the picture balance indoors is best in A5P, look at the tiles in the wall. @2:17 A5P delivers more natural colors, look at how fake the grass seems and that tree behind you in the AP2 @2:53 AP2 has the sky too blue and your black shirt again washed out. @4:55 somehow the 10 bit is a tie... No it isn't... DJI wins there hands down ...etc, like I said, I still haven't bought any action camera yet and that's why these comparisons are great for me to see prior to plunge the money. Thanks,
Hey can I ask your opinion? I’m interested in getting one of these cameras for surfing. I’ve used a GoPro and have the GoPro mount on my surfboard and it’s always super secure because of the screw mechanism with the 3 feet. I’m worried about the durability if it gets knocked off in a strong wave or by hitting the sand. Of course I would use a floating brick with it but I don’t want to keep rescuing my camera from the sea So the question is do these magnetic clasp mounts offer reliability and durability in environments that might be a little bit more extreme.
@@MountMediaChannel thank you so much for the fast response. It’s really appreciated. I look forward to seeing that your durability test. I saw one of your recent videos where you were testing the durability of the back flip screen of the ace pro two that I found really useful. But my concern with the magnetic mounts has always been across all cameras for my needs. But you’ve given me a bit of confidence to consider buying
I think these action cameras are just coming down to who your preferred manufacturer is. There are all so close now. Even in the dark they both struggle with action video as the shutter speeds required to shoot are too slow. But for slow walks or even still they both take good low light.
Even in bright light, despite the second processor and pre-encode denoising, there are times that the new Insta360 Ace Pro 2 seems to be crushing the blacks // shadows a bit much during movement, but when still, looks pretty great. GoPro will fail miserably in low light w/ its smaller sensor and ancient sensor, but I'll look forward to seeing your video and what you find regarding dynamic range between the two (GP vs Pro 2) in bright light w/ a background that has shadows. VERY thorough and great comparison video, as always. Will definitely look forward to he next vid!
After watching 100 review 😢, finally i got what i wanted to hear about 5pro. 4k 60 heating issue. Can you say how long 5pro duration while recording 4k 60fps?
Hi, I have a question, does the Ace Pro 2 lose image stability when recording at night? I have a Go Pro 12 and at night the image is dark and unstable.
your reviews are always the most superior to the other shilling reviewers. However you did not discuss the CLOSE FOCUS issue of the acepro2 vs acepro - this is a critical issue that acepro failed horribly. I wish you would do a good comparison of the the acepro vs acepro2, the acepro2 vs dji5pro and gopro units. To my eye the horrible close focus issue made me purchase a diopeter lens set which is no good in practical travel usage.
The Insta360 has lost the title of action cam for me, as a water sports channel on TH-cam, the camera fell off the mount while I was surfing. The system is not safe! In addition, I have tried to contact Insta360 in countless ways, but completely without response. So if you rely on Insta for support, you are lost. Loved the pictures in the videos. But unfortunately that's not enough. very sad had a loss of over 1000 dollars on the day of shooting...Thanks Insta for that.
The DJI Action 5 and DJI Mic2 ecosystem it's a mirage for Insta360. The new Ace Pro 2 continues to be heavy and underperforming with audio and in intelligent synergy with external microphones. A lot of the video quality is artificial, but other cams are no joke either. I'm waiting for a GO3 PRO.
Very good review video. I own the action 5 pro and like it a bunch. But the ace pro 2 has some nice features on it also. I might just have to get 2 cameras. Lol
I have the AcePro I like it, but size and weight on the chin of my motorcycle after long rides does wear on you. The DJI Action 5 in my opinion is more compact and lighter with a longer battery life. At 478.00 plus tax the DJI is cheaper cause you get 3 batteries and more accessories. Both cameras are nearly identical in quality and what they are capable in doing.
I also forgot to mention you can't buy it on Amazon from any country around the world. I checked. I check United States Australia, Germany France you name it
@@MountMediaChannel how do know this. When insta 360 released their webcams they were released on Amazon too. Why is it different with this camera ? Why is their return policy so bad on Reddit ? The reviews are horrible and they are all saying not to buy directly from insta360.
#MountMedia AWESOME complete review comparison. Crown goes to ACE PRo 2 if only battery life is as long as DJI A5Pro & addtl Internal memory card. Watching from 🇵🇭🤙 Good job insta 360 Great for lots of MotoVlogs here in PH🛣🏍🇵🇭
I'd go for the DJI (because of battery life) if it wasn't for the fact that you can't connect a helmet intercom with it whereas with Insta360 you can. Therefore AcePro 2 for me.
Wow. Now im confused. Hehe. Ive watched another vlogger comparing the three cams and liked the audio better in the Ace 2 but here i think the audio was better in the Dji action 5. :D it’s hard to decide. Image on the Ace 2 is great but is very pricey here in jpn comparing to dji action 5.
I disagree on your low light score. Although the Action 5 may have slightly more noise in some areas, to me it produces a noticeably better and more natural looking low light image.
I remember there once a channel with same kinda of your voice. Reviews DJI drone stuff. Very specific and ecentric. But his channel is gone. Don't remember what is his channel named . A guy with glasses and blonde hair i remember. Kinda miss him
just say RobHK review He discovered action 5 pro runs for 2hr41min at 25°c 4k30fps vs 1hr50min ace pro 2 I hope someone tries simulation 35°c and -10°c or something 😢
The audio on ace pro 2 killed the wind noise, but it almost killed all the noise. It sounded very unnatural. These 2 camera's are definitely impressive. These will be the death of gopro. Gopro really dropped the ball wi5h the 13. I have action 4. No reason for me to upgrade

Somehow I feel the review is biased, there were categories in which the DJI won clearly yet you managed to make it a tie, I dont own any of the cameras yet, looking at video reviews to see which way I go but man do I see a lack of objectivity here in many points.
For example?
@@MountMediaChannel
First and foremost thanks for the content you create, love the editing and I appreciate the work you go through to put this together, you have a nice flow to present the ideas and points, however; here are my thoughts:
@1:06 your black shirt looks washed out in AP2 - better black in A5P
@1:29 the picture balance indoors is best in A5P, look at the tiles in the wall.
@2:17 A5P delivers more natural colors, look at how fake the grass seems and that tree behind you in the AP2
@2:53 AP2 has the sky too blue and your black shirt again washed out.
@4:55 somehow the 10 bit is a tie... No it isn't... DJI wins there hands down
...etc,
like I said, I still haven't bought any action camera yet and that's why these comparisons are great for me to see prior to plunge the money.
Thanks,
Ok - I respect your opinion - that's why I've included so many comparison shots - so everyone can form their own opinion
Nice comparison, I was really hoping for a 10bit Log profile for this second version of the Ace pro, that’s the only reason I’ll stick with DJI…
Of course I would use a floating brick with it but I don’t want to keep rescuing my camera from the sea
So the question is do these magnetic clasp mounts offer reliability and durability in environments that might be a little bit more extreme.
In my opinion the magnetic mounts are absolutely secure - the camera never fell off - a durability test of the display is coming later today
DJI action 5 pro all the way!!! Better dynamic, better contrast, sharper, and handles light better.
About 1 hour
@@MountMediaChannel oh thats bad. But thank you so much for reply
@@jacvivo4921 I tested my action5pro 4k60 last 2hr without overheating.
Detail of ace pro 2 just awesome 😮
At 1.15 onwards, is your bike brand red or orange colour? This is very very important to me. Thank you. (I asked this using a LG oled screen)
In that shot the Action 5 color is more accurate - the color is more orange
@@MountMediaChannel Thank you!Was the acepro2 using any colour profile for that riding shot, because otherwise the colour was kind of over saturated.
No - just the standard color profile
Hi, I have a question, does the Ace Pro 2 lose image stability when recording at night? I have a Go Pro 12 and at night the image is dark and unstable.
Nice work men ! Can you think insta can add 10bits later with a new firmware?
Not sure if that's possible - probably yes
Currently £390 for the Ace Pro 2, £329 for the DJI Action 5 Pro in the uk.
Super vidéo test, merci 👍🏻
your reviews are always the most superior to the other shilling reviewers.
Such a wonderful well presented video
Excellent review, thanks. Will be sticking with my GP10 for now
The Insta360 has lost the title of action cam for me, as a water sports channel on TH-cam, the camera fell off the mount while I was surfing.
Lol
I also have an Action 5 but prefer my Ace Pro original. My original Ace Pro shoots better quality video for my taste.
I checked. I check United States Australia, Germany France you name it
yes, but that will change - in a few weeks it will certainly be available on amazon - like other Insta360 products too
@@MountMediaChannel how do know this. When insta 360 released their webcams they were released on Amazon too. Why is it different with this camera ? Why is their return policy so bad on Reddit ? The reviews are horrible and they are all saying not to buy directly from insta360.
Very detailed. Noice
Have you ever considered becoming a super spy? Or playing one in a movie? You have the look. 😊
😂
4nm Qualcomm chip has me dreaming of the possibilities. Im hoping the camera can be unlocked and rooted, modding would be amazing.
I'm a bit disappointed in the audio. The Ace Pro has a mechanical sound. The area that needed the most improvement still needs improvement.
#MountMedia AWESOME complete review comparison. Crown goes to ACE PRo 2 if only battery life is as long as DJI A5Pro & addtl Internal memory card.
Watching from 🇵🇭🤙
Good job insta 360 Great for lots of MotoVlogs here in PH🛣🏍🇵🇭
I'd go for the DJI (because of battery life) if it wasn't for the fact that you can't connect a helmet intercom with it whereas with Insta360 you can. Therefore AcePro 2 for me.
Wow. Now im confused. Hehe. Ive watched another vlogger comparing the three cams and liked the audio better in the Ace 2 but here i think the audio was better in the Dji action 5. :D it’s hard to decide. Image on the Ace 2 is great but is very pricey here in jpn comparing to dji action 5.
Hi, I think the Action 5 sounds slightly crisper but the Ace Pro 2 filters out all the background noise, wind etc
@@MountMediaChannel yeah that’s good point also. Thanks again for the tips. Cheers.
1 question: where the 10 bit color is NOT available on the ace pro 2? only on I.log? or where else?
There is no 10-Bit option
@@MountMediaChannel thr camera is no 10 bit color?
@@skinbones there is no 10-bit at all on the Ace Pro or Ace Pro 2. There is a new 8-bit I-Log option on Ace Pro 2.
@@canyonblue737-8 thanks
Thank you ❤❤❤
KTM Schriftzug auf dem Fahrrad ist bei der DJI orange wie das Original, bei der Insta ist es rot - komplett daneben.
That's for sure
3:04 min, da habe ich lieber die deutlich besser ausgeleuchteten Vordergrund, Dich, Rasen als die Wolken.
ACE PRO 2🤟🤘👍✌️🤞⭐💥✨🥂🔥
But is To Pricey 👎
Gonna wait for a holiday prices🤙
I disagree on your low light score. Although the Action 5 may have slightly more noise in some areas, to me it produces a noticeably better and more natural looking low light image.
Ok - a more in-depth comparison of low light shots is coming soon
should be grateful he didn't give the action 5 a negative point for those coned shaped lens flare from street lights during night time.
there's not much natural look in the osmo low light being fair
I remember there once a channel with same kinda of your voice. Reviews DJI drone stuff. Very specific and ecentric. But his channel is gone. Don't remember what is his channel named . A guy with glasses and blonde hair i remember. Kinda miss him
Yeah I think I remember the him , quite young and wore sunglasses , quite cool .
@@TopblokeGolf if were thinking about the same guy, i think he's russian or something like that.
DJI is a better choice
Action 5 FTW
just say RobHK review
He discovered action 5 pro runs for 2hr41min at 25°c 4k30fps vs 1hr50min ace pro 2
I hope someone tries simulation 35°c and -10°c or something 😢
9:26 I clearly see the difference. AP5 is much more smooth
The DJI 5 has a wind block setting he definitely did not have it turned on
The audio on ace pro 2 killed the wind noise, but it almost killed all the noise. It sounded very unnatural. These 2 camera's are definitely impressive. These will be the death of gopro. Gopro really dropped the ball wi5h the 13. I have action 4. No reason for me to upgrade
Yes, the A4 is still a great camera
In a MILSIM situation The DJI Action 5 is the best
if the action 5 pro has the ability to turn off the hdr maybe it will be good
Ace pro 1 also had removable lens cover, they just nerfed it by add two tiny drops of glue LOL 😂
The glue didn't even enhance water resistance 🙄
Ace Pro 2👌🏽
me personally 8k in ace pro 2 is not worth the money, its not clear enough
