How To Treat Foot Blisters (Like A Pro)!

  • Blister treatment is a skill a lot of people get wrong. It makes their blisters take longer to heal and it makes them more painful than they need to be. Ok, let’s look at how you can set yourself up to manage foot blisters on the go.
    PRODUCTS YOU'LL NEED
    ✅ BLISTER BANDAIDS: www.blister-pr...
    ✅ HYDROCOLLOID BANDAGES: www.blister-pr...
    ▶ 0:00 - INTRO
The best case scenario is you start at blister prevention. It really is your best chance of a no-fuss and pain-free time. Prevention is the key.
Failing that, if you're lucky you'll get a warning called a hot-spot. And you can start doing something about it here. If not, you'll be negotiating the slippery slope of blister treatment ... but let me warn you ... it's complicated!
    ▶ 0:35 - Blister Prevention
Do this preventive step right, and it’s happy days for you.
    ▶ 1:45 - Hot-Spot Management
But, if you neglect prevention or you’re unsuccessful with it, you might still get lucky and avoid a blister. You might get a brief sensation of heat called a hot-spot. This is your warning that a blister is on its way.
    ▶ 2:34 - Blister Treatment
OK, moving on. So you've missed the blister prevention boat. What comes next? Well, it depends on the integrity of your blister roof, which will either be intact, torn or deroofed.
▶ 2:46 - FOOT BLISTER SCENARIO 1: INTACT BLISTER ROOF
Scenario 1: So let’s say you’ve discovered a blister on your foot and the roof is still intact.
Here's What You Need To Do:
    • Dress your blister - We know the majority of blisters will tear ("pop") if you put your shoes back on and just hope for the best. So the very least you can do is dress your blister to keep it clean, just in case. You'll need an island dressing. An island dressing has a middle bit that doesn't stick to your blister, with the outer bit being adhesive - so it keeps dirt and germs out. You know it’s important not to stick anything to an intact blister. Or the blister roof might tear when you remove the dressing. www.blister-pr...
    • You need to check it regularly to see if the roof becomes torn. Because if this happens, you need to do extra stuff to make sure it doesn’t become infected.
    • Reduce pressure - You can cushion it - with cushioned insoles or silicone gel covers. Or even better than cushioning is pressure deflection in the form of felt donut pads.
    • Reduce friction - To reduce friction you need to make it more slippery. How do you do that? There’s really only two ways that will make a difference once you’ve got a blister: Lubricants; ENGO Blister Patches.
    ▶ 4:42 - FOOT BLISTER SCENARIO 2: TORN ROOF
Now for the next blister treatment scenario - the toen blister roof. Your aim is to keep the roof in place, even though it has torn.
Here's What You Need To Do:
    • Apply antiseptic (like Betadine)
    • Dress your blister - just like before.
    • Reduce pressure - just like before
    • Reduce friction - just like before
    • Monitor regularly for infection
    To Prevent Infection:
    • Disinfect your hands
    • Use a sterile dressing
    • Monitor regularly for infection
    • Seek medical attention if in doubt
What Are The Signs Of Infection?
    • Pus
    • Increased pain, swelling, redness, warmth
    • Red streaks extending from the blister (medical emergency)
    ▶ 5:49 - FOOT BLISTER SCENARIO 3 - DEROOFED
Scenario 3 is a deroofed blister - where the top of the blister has rubbed off leaving a red raw sore.
Here's What You Need To Do:
    • Apply antiseptic (like Betadine) - same as before
    • Dress your blister - but with a hydrocolloid now there’s no skin on the blister.
    • Reduce pressure - same as before
    • Reduce friction - same as before
    • Monitor regularly for infection
    👉 www.blister-pr...
    👉 lp.blister-pre...
    ▶ 6:48 - WRAPPING UP
So that’s it. Now here’s something I hope you noticed. If you get a blister, you still have to use the best of the preventative strategies. Plus you’ve got all the extra stuff of antiseptic, dressings and monitoring. Not to mention the pain and the downtime for it to heal … Imagine if you just got prevention right in the first place, life would be so much easier.

If you want to know which of these is the best for your blister location, use the search function on the Blister Prevention website (top right of screen) and search your blister location eg: pinky toe, arch, back of heel, ball of foot...

Yep, treating blisters is complicated, no doubt about it. The best method I've found is to enter my home-made Tesla-Based Time Machine and Time-Travel backwards in Time a few days BEFORE the blister occurred. Works every time.

Professor Time 😂😂😂 true that! My feet are so burnt from running at at beach after my little sister (is 30 years old still considered “little”?) she was running to the port-a-John and I knew they were nasty and she needed Lysol wipes and her own toilet paper. So, while I was trying to take care of her, lol, I screwed myself.

for those that are looking for a walk/jog/run lifestyle you will keep getting blisters along the way, from my experience i drained it, sometimes put a band aid over it (maybe more bandaids to cover the area) after my workout session i would take a shower and facerage with soap the blister area making sure i clean it right away so bacteria does not build up in that area, make sure you are confident with the band aid patching and the washing do not half do it, i used band aids to reduce friction, i was 250 and went to 190 and over that time i had blisters about 10 different times about mostly front foot below the toes (yes it hurts lol) but BE YOUR OWN DOCTOR so do not do exactly what i do, just telling you what i did in my own personal experience, good luck walkers/joggers/runners

I just made the mistake of walking 1 mile in my work shoes. Towards the end, I was feeling the tubing of the sock against the insole of the shoe and felt like I had sand between the bottom of my toes and the insole, and I knew I had blisters. Oh well, lesson learned.

1st, invest in wool running, hiking socks for your walking/running/ hiking. Also, wool lifestyle socks if your work walking work day involves more than walking from the parking garage to your desk/station/work site. Save the cheap cotton socks for at home lounging/ short errands / sleeping( after moisturizing your feet). I'll get hot spot signals around the 4 mile mark. If I'm doing more than a two mile walk, I tape those hot spots in advance.

I already have proper fitting boots, hiking sock & sock liners & i still get metatarsal blisters the size of fucking silver dollars. Blisters come on fast! ...I put on a pair of tightish shoes [flat] but wore thicker socks than I usually would.. and walked for just 1hr and sure enough, my little toe now feels as if it is on fire. Very painful. the shoes were expensive, and have bought that brand before [ecco] with no problems..but this pair must have been cut that bit tighter for the same sized shoe. They felt fine in the shop. :/
