    Also, it's important to know that the colors under the cell activator need to be thicker than the activator. That, I believe, is the key. I live in Colombia and we can't get any kind of floetrol without ordering and breaking the bank so I only use water with great results as you have pointed out. Thanks for sharing this process to the masses.... people are really disillusioned with Aussie floetrol being the only key to success. It's consistency and quality of the various elements.

    • @Livingstone497
      @Livingstone497 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      My understanding (which could be wrong) is the pillow is the thickest, paints all consistent and thinner than the pillow, the cell activator the thinnest. I thought the cell activator you use should sink while the colours underneath rise and that creates the cells and lacing. So knowing the density of the colours is helpful 🤷🏼‍♀️ it is confusing with so many artists having their own methods

    • @lindamil8885
      @lindamil8885 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@Livingstone497 what you wrote is exactly what I initially thought but since then and with all the reading and experimenting I've done, it's all the more confusing depending on what technique you're using. Certainly boggles my mind.

      Hey,thank you for the explanation, I only have 1more question, is the white pillow paint acrilic or latex based, because I constantly hear house paint, were I live that is mostly latex based.

    • @cp4184
      @cp4184 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@audreytryba2575 pillow paint is generally only used for the shelee bloom technique. The pillow paint can be any cheap house paint in white or eggshell with a satin or semi gloss finish. Latex is water based and generally used for indoor painting. Acrylic paint is chemical based and used outdoors because it is more durable and can expand and contract based on the weather. There are so many different pour paint techniques. Check all of them out and try them all😊

    I just watched your tutorial, I am amazed with the production of cells, its difficult and very expensive to get flowtrol over here in the U.K. and I have to say its refreshing watching your tutorial and not hearing the following words quote "Dollar store, or flowtrol" unquote. In the UK our paint supplies are very expensive not like the USA so I will try your handy hint on how to get cells in flow art with just paint and water. Thanks much appreciated. Joyce

When I moved here from Brittain, where you could get everything your heart desired and you didn't even have to order it online, but could get it in a shop, I felt I was moving into a cultural desert. It still often feels like that, but solutions like yours definitely help! Thank you!!

    Thanks so much for sharing ...always wondered what a cell activator was other than drops of silicon added to colors. Good to know that there are simpler and less toxic methods.

    • @venomfluidart
      @venomfluidart  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Renate, silicone is more of a cell additive that goes in the colours, a cell activator works a little different as you can swipe with it or do blooms and it's not a problem to resin your piece when dry unlike when you use silicone in your colours.

    • @Lynn_Clifton
      @Lynn_Clifton 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CheriBomzArt unfortunately, like all other things in this particular artform depends on the paint, the temp, the container it's in, etc. metal tubes can be warmed by sticking them in a cup of uncooked rice that's been warmed to just above room temp in the microwave. Plastic tubes can be warmed by substituting the rice for water. If you're only using a small amount and you have nesting containers, like those little takeout dip containers, you can put your paint amount in one cup and then place enough warm water in a second cup to (securely) float the cup. Just a few seconds is all you need

    • @leahrolan1265
      @leahrolan1265 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @TripleG69 its due to all the water particulates. As an example, the water here has a lot of lime. So we have to filter the water. Distilled is so that the water used is safe. However, if you don't have filtered Water and distilled is expensive, set out a glass of water for a day. The air will get rid of a lot of the yuck in it.

    I’m new to this technique and have a question. If water and paint work this well, what is the purpose of using the Aussie Floetrol? Are the cells different? Love your work by the way! 😊

    • @debmast7403
      @debmast7403 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agree...I never get those cells

    • @venomfluidart
      @venomfluidart  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Floetrol is a paint conditioner, it’s great for stopping brush and roller strokes in paint, it also slows the drying time down. I still use the Aussie floetrol on bigger pieces that I’m selling as it’s cheap here but does help keep the paint more fluid as it dries. Cheaper paint also doesn’t like too much water added before it breaks down.

      @@venomfluidart thanks for the info! I was more interested in why use the Floetrol for cells when just water and paint does so well? Do you get better or more cells using the floetrol for your CA? I’m just curious. Thanks again!

    I am so grateful to you for taking the time to make this video. I have been buying Australian floetrol from Fluid Art Co. for some time. When I moved to France from California it became a bit more pricey but now that it has been banned in Europe I have been fiddling about with the U.S. floetrol, Owetrol and all the additives. Now I can't even get U.S. floetrol delivered here. So, like I said - I am so grateful to you. XX

    Namasté, I'm only a year late seeing this but better now than never😏.. Your work is phenomenal and you do make it look quite easy. I'm sure you put heart, soul, sweat and precious time into your art to be able to achieve such gorgeous outcomes. More often than not, that which is too easy isn't worth it bc if it's worth it, it won't be too easy.. your time spent was well worth it and viewing your work is like witnessing magic manifest.. blessed be

    Good to know, and thank you for sharing. I'm in Canada, Australian Floetrol can only be purchased abroad and it costs a small fortune to get it here. We do have Flood Floetrol so I'll definitely try it with Flood and water when I run out of my only Australian Floetrol bottle.

    Loved the results using the black Amsterdam best as so dramatic. I’m watching this a year after you made it and wish I had seen it before I bought a bottle of Aussietrol which Owetrol (UK equivalent to Floetrol) produced as an equivalent to Australian Floetrol! I have a pot of Amsterdam so will give it a try. Thanks?

    Something i do when mixing with the water is put it in a bottle and shake ut up and then let it sit. So you dont have to spend as much time stirring lol. Thanks for your video! ❤
