3.39 for an M lite car thats been lightly modded is mental. These new beemers are crazy fast. When you think it was in the wet as well. thats mad
And no launch control (although it might've been slower due to scrabbling for grip). I know people give BMW slack for making their M/M-lites AWD now but they've delivered so much extra performance as a result. The fact that the M5 runs sub-3s, the M3/4 is a low 11 second car and the M240i can do this with a tiny bit of tuning is INSANE
Xdrive isnt even like traditional awd they still have a rwd power bias i think 60/40 split so you still get that rear end sliding absolutely mental
@@sab9913 100%, it's variable, and obviously the M cars have a RWD mode too. Most of the time xDrive cars run in mostly RWD until there's slip. Even my 435dx can slide itself around without DTC and DSC on

B58 and a RWD Bias 4WD is a serious recipe. 3.39 0-60 is rapid too.

Nah - RS3 stage 1 OTS will be similar or better times if you use 93/98 tune. The RS3 has the advantage though of being able to run straight E85 tunes, without injector or fuelling mods and attaining very low 3’s

Loved that mate! A genuine step forward from the already impressive previous M240i. Hats off to BMW for using the 4 series platform and the B58. They could have called it a day with the FWD biased M235i 2.0 Mini based car and gone straight up to the M2 but this is a great car that sits perfectly between them for someone wanting something more RWD traditional BMW than the 135 but less hardcore than a full on M.
Still blows my mind that people bring up the RS3 as a rival to this car. It might be slightly faster stock but the 2er is around 10k cheaper and has way more potential. It’s a scaled down sports saloon whereas the Audi is a scaled up hatchback… it’s no contest.
How does the 240 have more potential? DAZA/DNWA engined 8V RS3’s with decat/OPF delete, intercooler and tune will do 520-530bhp on 99 ron closer to 550 with octane booster or race fuel. So the 8Y will offer the same, if not slightly more.
Ever since i saw this car i was thinking i'd love to see it in this colour and it looks a lot better than the purple in my opinion
So let me get this straight - a TUNED 240 beats an stock M2. And? But a TUNED M2 would annihilate the TUNED 240. I've never compared apples with avocados so suggest trying the same. For further thought, a Ferrari 599 0-62 is slower than a tune 240. Doesn't mean the 240 is the pick - same goes for M2.
This car stock beats a stock M2 0-60, and by some margin. I’d also suggest that in typical UK weather on a B road an M2 driver wouldn’t see which way this car went . Driver involvement is different discussion of course but you can’t deny the pace and road holding of this car in all weathers.
@@stevehs4287 Agree. I just think such vids suggest the 240 is a better car purely from 0-60 times. A Tesla would wipe most cars including a tuned 240 with a 0-60 time but it doesn't suggest its better nor would it entice me to own one. I love fun factor and a manual M2C RWD is my ticket but if chasing 0-60 times is someone elses game its like the dog trying to chase its tail - never ends.

As I said, 0-60 is it's only trick, because in every other way an M2 is faster.
Straight line racing is for plebs who can't actually drive very well, because it requires no skill, you just accelerate in a straight line ffs, so the car with the highest power-to-weight ratio wins, all other things being equal..
A RWD car is not going to get the same traction from a standing start as an AWD car, derrrr, not rocket science son is it.
Around a track, or a twisty B road with corners and undulations, an M2 destroys an M240i either RWD or xDrive.
Here in America the 0-60 is what counts, nobody is racing a 70k dollars car on hills and twisty roads lol unless you take to the track that’s it , I’m not denying the m2 is a beast but the lock of xdrive will turn many people away that’s why the m3 is just the car to get specially in cold climate weather.
@@georgipress Here in England, traffic light racing is for clowns, because every middle class mum has an X5 M50, or SQ7, or a Tesla. Those middle class mothers can do 0-60 in under 4 seconds, but they can't drive. Any clown can launch one of those AWD cars, or an RS3, or A45S, with one hand on the wheel, because the car does everything for you, it requires no skill at all.
Real drivers go out on narrow, twisty, undulating country roads and push their cars, and their driving skill to the limit.
And they do it in 100k or even 200k cars, I see all sorts of very fast and expensive cars out, having fun.
AWD cars are for people who can't drive very well, because they need the safety and a car which does everything for you.
RWD might not be the fastest way, but it is the most fun, and requires the most skill, and that my friend is what real driving is all about.

That will make more sense but in America it’s all straights roads , traffic lights and teslas so it’s basically like using the wrong set up where everyone does 0-60 in under 4. Does it make sense to you now or should keep debating between two different countries infrastructures?. I would prefer to buy the m2 but I’m thinking about not wanting to get smoke by mom, dad and needs that never drove a real sport car or people who was never into cars!

I was thinking about selling my G80 M3 for a profit and buying one of these. I thought it would be smaller and have less weight but when you look at the stats, it only weights 24 lbs less IIRC. So that ended that.

I mean, taking cold air from the wheel which spins at a ridiculous rpm should have been common sense from the beginning. BMW just adding to old tech they already knew about years before it was even released. One step ahead, or behind. Still though a good addition considering the air needed for these new powerful engines.
