For me a more appropriate analogy would be that Tyler, being afflicted with poor memory, has the entertaining habit of forgetting the fact that the fence he is looking at is an electric variety and proceeds to urinate on said fence. Later on, as he continues his walk along the fence line he once again forgets about the “tingly feature” of his walk’s companion and gives in to nature’s inevitable urge.

For example: Cayenne/Macan transfer cases and timing case case covers failing in 60-70k, sometimes much lower. We were doing one a week on cars still in warranty once the '15/16 model years started seeing high rates of failures back in '18/19. Sports cars aren't exempt either. Water pumps, sleeved adhesive coolant pipes, rear main seals, etc. Plus, everything costs twice as much to repair/maintain in Por$che world. Amazing cars and more reliable than many for sure, but still a machine with flaws and weaknesses like any other.

Only high mileage and and only if they aren’t well kept. I still own 2 today. Both 2007 cars. One with 10k miles and one with 65k miles. No problems.

Yea you definitely should be an E55 AMG or CLS55 AMG or SL55 AMG. The m113k is the best road car engine ever. So reliable, 600+hp with a few cheap mods. It's too good

  • @timmietz

Honestly, I have no idea what talking about. I’ve owned a 2009 and sold it with about 60,000 miles on the clock. The only thing that went bad on it was the rear power hatch motor. My 2007 on the other hand, which is now, 17 years old, is completely perfect for its age. However, in this spirit of full disclosure, the fact that it only has 10,000 miles on it probably has something to do with it lol
PS. The 2005 E55 wagon I had did need a lot of maintenance, albeit it had 145,000 miles on it when I sold it.

E55 doesn't use those expensive 2 piece rotors. You can also shop around and buy them for WAAAY less than dealer prices. You can also swap between 2 piece and single piece on both the E55 and E63....not scary at all.

I had an 05 E55. The maroon color. Apparently that color is getting hard to find. At least in good condition. Got it about a year ago, but then last April I got rear ended right after I got it all squared away for the warmer weather. I was sitting at a red light and a drunk driver hit me without ever slowing down. I think he might've been high too. I was extremely upset with the situation because it totaled the car. He gave it a nice trunk delete. I miss that car every day. Oddly enough, it was a car I always loved growing up. I've always had a thing for grandpa cars that scoot. Nothing like luxury AND speed. I'm addicted to AMGs now though, so the plan is to get another AMG once I finish college.

I have a 2008 CL 63 amg with that exact engine, with about 120 000miles (200 000km) on the odometer. I don't drive it that often, but had no problems with it for the last 4 years. Only mounts for the rear diff, abs module (it's under the carpet in the rear seat foot area. A girl dug her high heelsinto it while I was showing off) . It's extremely thirsty though. I find myself driving my e92 M3 much more often.

I could probably afford an older, higher mileage AMG, but couldn’t afford to maintain it, too. And since I only have the one car - my daily driver - it needs to be reliable. So as much as I’d love to have something really fun like an AMG, it’ll probably never happen.
