Alex, I think I noticed the silicone bellows on the cold air intake collapsing when you hit the higher RPM and I believe that is what was making it shut down.
Bro I saw that the first time and I was wondering how he wasn’t seeing that! And then I had to scroll for a minute in the comments to see someone else say something about it so then I started thinking I was trippin 😂😂
This may have already been stated by someone else, but as I watched your initial runs, the intake tubes would move abruptly at around the 5K RPM mark--at first I thought you had some sort of dynamic motor mounts, but then realized the rest of the motor wasn't really moving. I think this also supports your theory as to restrictive air draw. It was as if the air filters hit their limit and then the boxes would deflect simultaneously under that kind of max vacuum. Hope you had fun in Indy--I'm a former Wheaton guy but was born in Indy and am a huge motorhead--you are living the dream buddy. Best, PK Pilcher

Good to see the E55 on a post again. I have always had a soft spot for MB wagons and that is one of their best designs. Good to see OJ back on the channel. Thanks, Alex. Hope you didn't get sick.
People on the forums talk about those filters being a joke for actually making power. To me they look more restrictive than the factory panels. And now your video seems to confirm that. I personally lik rhe look of the stock boxes, AMG took time to make their engine bays look nice 👍

Alex! The wagon content is what brought me to your channel in the first place! You are the one who made it a dream car for me! Hoping to buy an E63 wagon one day!

This channel is awesome! Alex always has a smile on his face and makes car fixing/modding look so fun. I don't know what E55 or AMG mean, but they sound cool and I want one too. Thanks Alex for sharing your amazing work with us and I wish you feel better soon!
Noticed the intakes moving a lot in the higher RPM so I focused on the y-coupler on the throttle body and it was collapsing which is what was causing the engine to fall on its face. Obviously removing the air filters created less of a restriction but the coupler collapsing is the main issue. Since it’s doing it with the hood open the coupler isn’t heated up as much so with the hood closed that will make it much softer and will collapse even easier.
Loving the wagon, Alex! I’m taking my E55 on a trip to Florida to see my first grand baby next week and I could use the extra room! Lol. 😂 I am going to do long tubes, injectors, looped rail and 85mm throttle body after I get back and it’s getting the bumpers repainted and it will be ‘finished’. I love the car so much and I am looking forward to the long road trip and collecting more memories with the AMG. Thanks to your channel, I have done some very satisfying mods and all of the maintenance that keeps these cars healthy and happy for many miles to come! I can’t thank you enough for what you do!
Sitting here watching you guys trying to dyno the wagon with it cutting out, the FIRST THING I thought was, look how hard it’s sucking the intake tubes up when it cuts out! Alex...years ago my wife and I got to do the lap around the Speedway with a motorcycle club we rode with. We were told keep it under 60mph or you can get a speeding ticket. As we got out of the infield and on to the track, there were Indiana State Troopers with radar guns in each corner, except Turn 4. I dropped the bike into second and twisted the throttle to about 90 mph over the finish line and slowed down to exit the track. Still a great memory. Hope you have fun.

Another fantastic LSC video!! Great job Alex and Max! Alex, you’re such a pro at clean installs… that flex fuel module harness install was cherry 👌👌 So satisfying to watch that huge mess of wires disappear.
I'm curious about the fuel pumps upgrade. I discovered my wagon was running with only one pump for a while and it seemed to be fine so I would have thought the two stock pumps would be sufficient for 700hp but I guess it never hurts to upgrade.
the way the intake was moving after the first few runs combined with the forced rpm limiter it looks like one of the silicone joiners was closing/folding shut at higher rpm, you can reference the Egts at that forced limiter to see if temp raises in correlation
Enjoyed that, love the E55, and always enjoy seeing Travis's love for the Australian cars I grew up on. That VE ute reminds me of one I owned, was a bit older but also black and had those same GTO wheels on it. And going to Indy must have been a fantastic experience. Hope you had a great weekend!
