Level 4 survivor here😖. It was my sophomore year of track in high school where I was training for the 800 meters (2 lap race). There was one random race where I came through 700 meters and the clock read 1:36. If you’re familiar with track & field, this is the number you want to see coming off the bend to break the infamous 1:50 barrier high school superstars dream of. This barrier launches you into top 5-10 nationally for your event so it’s a very fast. Just as I was about to make my sprint at history down the homestretch.. I felt the power from my legs disappear from my body😳. I was tired leading up this point but I had never felt anything like this in my entire life. Luckily I had enough strength to not fall, but every step I took for the last 100 meters felt like I was carrying the weight of the world. I felt like a superhero just for finishing. I was too delirious to really see outside of the bright white lines of lane one that I tried to focus on. I gave it my all and I crossed the line at 2:02.something(a personal record at that point) and I was physically destroyed. I asked my coach to take my legs off and I was completely serious. It was a good lesson though because my barrier for “failure” in my training is no longer based on how hard it feels. It’s based on how productive/effective my is being. Ended up going D1 to a good school so i don’t regret the experience. Never broke 1:50 tho 🥲
When I was a teenager. I was swimming in the ocean and the current took me. I fought hard but couldn't get free of it. I remember sinking. I thought to myself, this is it. I'm finished, I can't fight anymore. Almost immediately after, I thought that. It was almost like a switch flipped. The last thoughts that went through my head. I won't go quietly, I'll fight until death. I can remember pushing like I never pushed before. Every muscle in my body was burning like hell. Then it all went numb. When I finally got to shore, I clawed my way onto the beach. I still couldn't feel a thing, and I'm pretty sure I vomited, mostly water, probably. I was in and out for who knows how long. I eventually came to inside an ambulance. It took me over a week to recover. I pushed my body beyond its braking point. I know I can do it again, and it scares the hell out of me.
Coach Greg, my older brother told me to watch you for good lifting advice after he moved and wasn’t able to help me anymore, and I just want to thank you for all of the guidance
This video was something else, too hilarious🤣 *and educational as well! To answer your question Greg: I've been to Level 4 and used to train on Level 3 regularly. Like for years. I had to calm down because I developed an autoimmune disease from it which went away from not training that way anymore! Additionally, I used to have all kinds of problems with that approach including not being able to sleep at night, low testosterone, blood pressure issues, and symptoms of diabetes insipidus. At 24 years of age, imagine that. Also, I couldn't see much gains from it (actually none at all) since I was in a perpetuated catabolic state. It taught me that in training is not always about as bad as you want it to be. You gotta learn to train smart.
About a month and a half ago, I was pushing to do 20 rep sets of squats for 2 sets. I am not ultra strong, so it was 225, which is about 70% of my 1 rep max. The first set i hit 20, genuinely thought i was going to pass out after, I had to sit on the ground. The second set i hit 15 had no chance at 20. For the next month, i couldn't get more than 14 reps at 225. I am pretty sure it's the closest I've come to level 3 and i had fatigue for a month from it. I do go to level 4 every time i have a goon session, cant edge for 8 hours without going to zone 4.
I do every set to failure but then I struggle to get through the workout lol. Even when the workout is just 4 exercises for 3 sets each. Now I do 1 set to failure then 3 sets to about a rep shy. Now I understand how people were only resting 30 seconds - 1 minute between sets, because I need 3-4 minutes from failure, thought I just had terrible conditioning.
I swear I can't stay at lvl 2. If I don't collapse from the effort I feel like I didn't go hard enough. Maybe that's why I can't keep a consistent program 💀
When i reached level four it was very dark... I was listening to phonk and accidently activated balkan rage. To add to this I also replaced my water with still water.(those who know)
Mad respect for you and Dr. Mike for reaching such high levels of intensity! As for myself, I'm a beginnner and I've only probably ever reached level 2 maybe on the leg press, but mostly on level 1, especially on freeweight movements. Really nice to see you put out some educational content as well!

I like the 0.1 drop on gold medal race analogy. I was a Olympic trials swimmer and felt like I got there before, but looking back you can always up it a little. I would fall on the wall and collapse (not in a injury way) after finishing certain races and practice and the eyes closed is something that ALWAYS happens after.
I was doing pendulum leg presses, and I asked a friend of mine to push me past failure. I did 20-25 full range of motion reps, with another 10-15 partials from the bottom half. Coach Greg Ive been training over 20 yrs. I do believe I've trained at level 4 most definitely level 3. When I was training in Japanese jui jitsu my sensei would push us very hard. So much training power burst into my loins that I actually don’t remember what happened. I woke up a few hours later on the flat bench with the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my pecs and the oddest sensation in my shorts.
It's funny because all the screaming sets aside, Dr. Mike is known for not training hard. Lyle McDonald had a whole feud with Mike over how none of his reps slow down.

22 years ago on a Nautilus pec dec, I reached level 5. I began to bleed from every orifice of my body, and black oil seeped from my tear ducts. I've never recovered. To this day, my belly button is protruding 6 inches full of insulin, and it's inoperable. I have trouble sleeping, and my wife left me. Your cook book, and Turk are now my only hope of recovery from this nightmare.
Gregg, my name is Frank Mamie and I am 70yrs old, and frequently train to failure, always trying to do more than last week. My last record setting leg press going from 280 to 300lbs x 40reps on, it took one month to accomplish this increase. Obviously on the last rep I was in another world, and in completion saw stars and 7 to 8 seconds regaining a presence of mind. Go to failure or go home.
I went to level 4 once, my hair turned blonde, my muscles got bigger, I was floating In air, and had a glow all around me. I kept repeating "Im a Super Saiyan" for whatever reason. Then I was kicked out my house by my parents and told to grow up. Kids, don't do shrooms and workout!

I woke up a few hours later on the flat bench with the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my pecs and the oddest sensation in my shorts.
Still can’t tell if his “level 4” video was a joke or not. if so, comedic gold😂
It's a troll video
@@alexandrosamanatidis7825 it was good🤣
This video was different. The subtlety of the comedy is improving.
It's funny because all the screaming sets aside, Dr. Mike is known for not training hard. Lyle McDonald had a whole feud with Mike over how none of his reps slow down.
But mike said he's more funny that lyle
Mike knows and has said he is not training the hardest.
He's always between level 2 and 3. But he can do both
proud of u mike, u really use ur smart brain to character development, i empathize with u cos coach greg has different personalities which confused u and made you pvp
"Hey! We're bumping fists."
Your cook book, and Turk are now my only hope of recovery from this nightmare.
lol just roasting Jeff harder than last time
One of the funniest Coach Greg videos I’ve seen. More of these please!! This stuff’s great
As a spaniard myself I can confirm that Gregorious' spanish is extremely impressive
Damn
That clip is never going away
8:20 time to unlock level 5, super saiyan Goku!
13:48 - 14:07 i'm dead 😂
I went to level 4 once, my hair turned blonde, my muscles got bigger, I was floating In air, and had a glow all around me. I kept repeating "Im a Super Saiyan" for whatever reason. Then I was kicked out my house by my parents and told to grow up. Kids, don't do shrooms and workout!
4:40 did greg just have a stroke? lol
He pronounces words wrong often haha
Childhood trauma/drama?
This is more intense than avengers civil war.
Greg standup is getting better and better ngl lmaooo I clicked this video harder than last time
Only one in 78 billion people can do level 3
Coach Greg.
