The part I found most disturbing is the fact that she was granted full custody of her children.

it is rare that one parent gets full custody just to get full custody. It is very possible that their father simply wanted to move on from the situation, thus leaving the children behind. All judges will be hard pressed to grant *full* custody to someone like this unless the other parent in literally Satan himself. Other factors, such as the father's duty schedule (maybe if he would have never be home, or in the country, or close enough to grant partial custody, especially if he agreed that these would cause extenuating circumstances), with the facet that she lost her federal position and entered the private sector (which could suggest that she may have a more "stable" lifestyle) or a combination played a role in the decision. And do not forget, she had good standing beforehand as a privileged and revered member of society due to her status with NASA and title. That probably went a long way in the courtroom. This is concerning to me too, but for the most part if the father wanted those children, even partial custody, he would have gotten them given what unfolded. Judges try to keep families working as a unit for the kids.
The father probably didn't want the responsibility full time.
It would suck to be one of the statistically miniscule number of people who have ever been to outer space, and have that overshadowed by the accomplishment of being a member of the even smaller minority of adult humans who ever drove cross country in a diaper on a revenge quest.
Dependingon how much they can hold, it is possible, but that’s still a long ways to go with just one diaper.

There was toddler diapers in her car according to the police report.. she couldn't have possibly fit into those. Plus, literally every astronaut wears diapers at some point during their trip 😅 I always wonder how terrible it smells in there once they get back to Earth.

Thanks for this one, Dr Grande. I was just thinking about this case some weeks ago, but couldn’t remember the astronaut’s name. It was shocking at the time, how someone so intelligent can descend to such depths, driving across the country in diapers so she didn’t need to waste time at restroom stops.
It sounds like Lisa had every intention of murdering her rival. Her personality evaluations were confusing because the DSM-5 doesn't recognize "Psycho Killer" as a disorder.

I'm in agreement with you, Dr.Grande. Those diagnoses were a bit sudden and convenient. I think she was just another graduate from the Jodi Arias "I love you to death " school of romance." Very interesting stuff and no justice certainly wasn't served.

This is the first time I've commented before watching the video. Dr. Grande's dry humour mixed with ANYTHING having a diaper as an element of the story is going to be epic. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the ride. Let's light this candle.
Dr. Grande, can you review the process on how these diagnoses are reached so quickly? You often hear of clinicians working with a patient for months to years before reaching certain conclusions and providing a diagnosis for some of these more nuanced/less prevalent conditions. I know that for some disorders you can run assessments, but if it is that simple, why do we always see such varying diagnoses? Not to mention that new patents often remain more private or augment the reality of what has really happened in their lifetime until a good relationship between the patient and provider is established. And I am sure there must be a lot of malingering, especially when the diagnosis is perceived as having the ability to sway the outcome of a court case. How is this all reconciled (the fact that NASA and the Navy missed these markers comes to mind)? I would love to know your take

This was a perplexing case as emotional and psychological stability would have been paramount in her role as an astronaut. It is another cautionary tale and example that violence in or in relation to romantic relationships transcends socioeconomic status and effects all levels of income, education and occupation. I stand with all those who were shocked and saddened by the events that transpired on Capitol Hill today.
