Can't remember when I bought this watch, but I've had it for at least 20+ years. It keeps superb time and the only bugbear is having to send it away for battery changes, due to its excellent sealing. It's also very tough ; being regularly subjected to the recoil of sniper rifles over many, many years. The glass does get an occasional scratch, but this is quickly polished out with normal wear. What's really great is that its slimline titanium body means it sits tight against my wrist and never catches on anything. I can highly recommend this watch and, indeed, I've just purchased another that I'm keeping again the day when this one eventually wears out. It really is that good. Rick Marksmanship Instructor

An excellent review. I have worn one of these 24/7 for a little over seven years and in my opinion it is the best watch on the planet! If I won the Euro Millions Lottery I would not replace it. It gains six seconds per month which is far more accurate than any supposedly 'high end' automatic watch. After about four years the strap got a bit tatty so I replaced it with a black mesh strap for £6.99 from Amazon which really makes it pop. I wear it for gardening, driving a hiab crane delivering bricks and blocks, swimming and when wearing a dinner suit which looks great with the new strap. I can only think of two negatives (a) the initial strap was a little short but the canvas does stretch over time so perhaps that is a good thing (b) the hour markers are not lumed so you are sometimes left guessing in the middle of the night - but the lume on the hands lasts about six hours if you give it a light blast before going to bed. My lady friend has described it as a watch which is "suitable for every occaision" and her eyes popped out on stalks when she first saw it on the black mesh strap. Casio illuminator as a diver, this lorus as a nice field option, Orient bambino as a nice dress watch, etc. Keep up the great budget picks! Could be worth a whole series on TH-cam tbh. I'd definitely watch a series on great budget picks in their category.
I'm not a field watch guy either, but I really like that: great value for money and I'm incredibly impressed that the second hand pretty much nails the indices. Seen plenty of luxury quartz pieces that don't do that. Got to be ice cold. For what it's worth I feel the same about the Junkers you looked at previously.
I wish they had not changed the dial… the latest seems to have a three truncated by the date complication. Thanks for all of your informative insights!
I've had the stainless version for a few years and I like it. I appreciate how slim and light it is. I also like how quiet the tick is compared to the Timex I was using before.
A good friend was having a clear out and gave me one of these with the black dial. It didn't have the original strap so I replaced it with a nato one. I put it in the definitly cool category. It's slimness means it fits inside all but the tightest shirt cuffs. Titanium also rules out my skin reacting to some stainless steels which can be irritating. It is now my 3rd most worn watch out of about 15.

There are some great Lorus and Pulsar pieces. I know Casio is always a safe bet when it comes to affordable timepieces but these should be considered as well.
interesting... I saw this watch last week on amazon and was thinking on buying, but I didn't because I thought the quality would be to cheap. Now Ben comes here and shows me the real deal. Bought it now and thanks for the review!
I love it how Ben gives this watch repect, it does seem like a great, comfortable, smart looking everyday watch. I had a Lorus sports watch for about ten years, found it to be good looking, reliable and the battery lasted about five years every time it was changed.
Lorus is cool. Got just one other Lorus in my collection that's super elegant, the VX50-X282. Been wearing this on/off for about 5 years and it's the slimmest dress watch I own. Works like a dream. No battery change yet and it's just so versatile. It always competes with the Bambino v4 for wrist time. Also... the name Lorus always makes me think of the word "Lore", which is really cool. Great vid!
I went ahead and grabbed one of these. It is now my favourite watch for daily driving. It is very legible and the cream dial looks great. I'm very happy with it. It is quartz, but hey. The strap is really nice.
I have been wearing one of those for years, I bought my boys them for Christmas one year and I bought a spare, just in case. Why do I like them? Easy legible dial, waterproof, very, very light and small, scarcely 38mm diameter and only 8mm thick. If only they made it solar powered it would be perfect. The Titanium case is quite soft though, mine has lost its matt finish and gained a soft polish all over, I rather like that. On the down side the nylon strap can feel a little scratchy, mine's on leather now and the date window is too small for my eyesight.
After I watched this video I went on eBay and found an older Lorus titanium field watch with fully lumed dial, reference V732 X001. I think the design isn't quite as nice, but it's a lovely little weekender.
I've had this watch for 20 years (but with a white dial and straight hands) and it's still running like new, and that titanium case seems very scratch resistant ! .. Love it.
I must be very unlucky then, because mine scratches from the lightest contact, these are not deep scratches, but they make the matt finish more glossy and so it's very visible. It happened from simply hitting it with aux cord from my headphones... is it possible that I got the fake watch? I bought mine from watchshop.com
I really like the look of this field watch. I own a couple of Lorus watches and they are very reliable, not surprising really with a Seiko movement. I already have a field watch which is a Seiko solar watch which I now have on a solid link stainless steel mesh bracelet. The canvas strap on this particular watch you have shown is its weak point I think in that it will tend to fray at some stage which is what happened with my Seiko watch. All in all though I would say this is a COOL watch to own and I will consider getting one myself. Thanks for your review I am enjoying your channel.
Just been on the lookout for a cheap ish quartz field watch. Ented up with a mint second hand Boldr titanium that’s 38mm. Worth a look, but this looks like a great deal
I tracked both of these down, bought the Lumibrite for £30 (Argos), and Amazon were selling the titanium for £105 initially then it dropped to £54 when the algorithm knew I wasn't paying that for it. So all in £84 for the two. When I was on the Argos site I spotted a Citizen BM8180-03E, an Eco-Drive for £79 !!!! check it out. So in all a 3 decent watches for £165. Not a bad week. Keep up the good work Ben.
I own four lorus watches. Two simple day and dates, one chronograph and one that has no date, but is has indiglo(full dial lights up). Very durable and nice watches for the price! I love mine!
I bought this watch after watching your review and absolutely love it. Even during the day that watch face illuminates. I was at an outdoor mall and noticed it glowing when I was in a shaded portion.
Thanks for this! Bought it and put it on a grey perlon strap. I love it! Just perfect as a analog daily rocker and so light you nearly forget that it‘s there!
Hi Ben, I`ve just received my Lorus, you were quite right, I can`t take it of, superb little timepiece with slight retro look. Thank you for your recommendation!
I bought a Lorus RW617AX9 chronograph for less than £50 from Argos. Superb value and loaded with features and accuracy better than any mechanical watch.
I've been wearing this for over 10 years daily. I absolutely love it fir every reason you stated ... its also around £70 now if you want a new one, though there are changes to the hands and face now I note. Glad I have this old faithful ... keeps brilliant time, I surely don't need any other watch (well, I have 9 but hey ..). I'd buy it again. I also have two of its stable mate, the Lorus Lumibrite. Love that too. This one has the edge though.
I own the lumibrite version (day-date) fantastic watch and soooo accurate .. no 1 or 2 minus plus sec / month but instead 0 sec/ month ... incredible for the price ! Some accuracy listing (month) of my watches China 3euros -24 Festina chrono -10 Timex chrono -7 Casio Digital -6 Pagani hommage daytona 0 Lorus Lumibrite 0 Citizen Worldtime + 2 Smael + 2 Casio Edifice + 3 Casio WR + 3 Citizen Promaster diver + 4 Geckota + 4 Duro black + 4 Duro blue + 4 Citizen pilot + 5 Citizen brizen chrono + 7 Seiko chrono + 10 Navy force + 10 Festina standard + 13
Hey Ben, I definitely think Lorus is in the cool section for field watches. Not sure if you have already looked at these watches but you should check out Bertucci. I think they definitely compete for the best low cost field watch. Cheers!
Hi All I'm new to Ben's Channel and Love it. I watched this review and was immediately sold on it. I purchased one. I can honestly say its fantastic Ice Cold. Titanium Case, Lightweight on the wrist. Great Glass and Clear readable face, luminous hands. The second hand hits the markers everytime. 100 meters water resistant. Crown easy to operate gives a solid click when cycling the date and crown is protected. Accurate Time Keeper and the Specs on this watch are awesome for the money. It's that good and I love it that I have bought 2 more should anything go wrong. I'm going to swap out the strap to a James Bond Nato and it will look fab. The strap it comes with though is good and is reinforced. Everything about the watch is durable. Buy it. Thanks Ben so Glad I found my favourite watch and it never leaves my wrist. So comfy. Cheers All.
I bought myself one of these after watching this review and have been wearing it every day for about a week - absolutely love it! Just so good for the price (got mine on sale for £35). Thanks for making these detailed reviews, I don't think I'd have discovered this watch if I hadn't seen this.
I currently own aroind 20 watches and i only collect watches that i enjoy wearing, that being said the Lorus sport is the only watch that i immediately replaced when i accidentally tore the strap pins from their holes. The damage to the pin holes prevented the retention of new pins. I love that watch and the lume is ridiculously bright, theres no hiding in the dark when you wear that watch.
I have many watches, mostly of them are triple the price, but this one becomes quite quick my favorite after receiving it from Amazon (60eur). It's something about the warm touch feeling of the satin finished titanium case. Now is winter time and I'm never feeling the watch metal coolness, as I'm used on the others. Also the watch is so light,I'm often forgetting I'm wearing it. It's the most comfortable i own and i love how the small elegant case looks on my wrist. The Seiko quartz movement is excellent and the second hand hitting the second markers perfectly right, which is rare to see on many quartz watches. The strap is quality and durable. When is new is somehow hard and not so flexible, but after 2-3 weeks takes the wrist shape beautifully and become very comfortable. If I have some concerns about the watch,it's only one, not critical but just personal aesthetic preference. The mirror colored second hand playing nice with the light on the watch face, but is hard to see it in most viewing angles. Wishing to see the second hand in mate black color, and probably I'm going to paint it on the next battery change case opening.
Still available and today ( 14 Nov 2020 ) I have bought one from The Watch Shop at £37.49 . This is third one I’ve bought over last 15 + years, cheaper than buying a new battery & strap. Though I have and they all work perfectly. The glass does scratch but they get used weekends and exposed to risks of impact etc. Recommend.
Thanks for that Peter, just ordered mine on the same deal for £37.49. Been looking for a good field watch and just discovered this Watch today. Well pleased. 👍
Hey, I got mine from the same site about 6 months ago, does the titanium case scratch or is it durable? Mine scratches from the lightest contact, also its very prone to temperature changes. Is it somehow possible that I got the fake model or am I just unlucky? The scratch (matt finish became shiny in the place of damage, so the difference is easily visible) was made from accidentally hitting it with aux cord of my headphones when I was rapidly rolling them up. This is ridiculous and I so my experience is totally different than yours, was it the first time you bought it from this site? Thanks for your reply in advance.
I have a Lorus Kinetic field watch, similar dial but in black. It is still running after more than 25 years (No battery/capaitor change as of yet). I wonder if my G-Shock will last as long. As always, great job on the review.
I have one ,,just got new battery fitted by little kiosk watch repair guy in Silverburn shopping centre, Scotland. I then tested it in bath,,,still leak proof. Great titanium watch 100m!!!
I can't remember how long i have this same Lorus Titanium watch but I remember the price....£23.. i seakayak, canoe, hill walk and camp and with a few minor marks it's as good as new. Easy to read. 100 mtrs W.R. Just love it. Never off the wrist.
The classic field watch (WW2) is meant to be plain looking. It's the functionality that more important. It has the classic look that does not attract attention. The issue with bulky watches, is the potential to knock it against something more easily than a watch that's more slimline. You can swap that horrible canvas strap with a rubber/silicone one. Good review from a young bloke. PS You buy a watch to impress yourself and not to impress others.
I am enjoying it immensely. So light and comfortable. So clean and I love field watches. Thanks for the recommendation. I never would have heard of it here in the States.
The bang for buck proposition with the whole stable of Lorus military-themed watches is outstanding. Quality Japanese quartz movememt, good cases, 100m WR and an excellent price... I used to think they were cheap homages to service-issued watches. Now, they are very often superior to anything you can sign out of military stores. Mine have been to Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. They are about to commence an anti-piracy cruise of a particularly dangerous ocean - will be sure to send you the 'operational field reports' and pictures Ben!
If you are interested in reviewing another uber budget, small-ish titanium field watch, the Berny T2526M is a banger. Similar to this Lorus (which is to say, a quartz version of the Seiko SNK series, but in titanium with radically better lume. I nabbed the blue dial version with logo one a NATO with titanium hardware. I think it was $55. Also ordered a Swiss railway/Mondaine clomage with full lume dial.
well done mate , another good review my mate got a omega constellation [ quarts ] and was to soft to wear it for work and asked me for a good watch for work i shown him this review and he liked it so of we went to town to find one , deal done for £57 and it look`s good and got a plus mark to as it titanium LOL
You or anybody looking at this watch should look at the Alba APBT209 and APBT211. Alba is another Seiko brand, also. They're Ti, too. But you get a domed Hardlex crystal and 200m of water resistance.
I have the Lorus Sports and I love it. Not Titanium but still one of my lightest watches and it has day/date and Lumibrite which I cannot live without. Wish it had a Titanium case too. Can't justfiy buying both.

Hi Ben, I already have a Seiko SNK 805, I do really like this lorus and love the review. Would you recommend still going for this? Just concerned it’s super similar to the Seiko. Thanks
Bought this watch a couple of weeks ago from FH Hinds for £49. Love it. On the small size compared to my other 40mm watches. But yes it’s super comfortable and looks fine on my 7” wrist. Started to look at other Lorus watches now. Good accurate second hand Proper bargain

Nice watch for the money bought a pulsar kinetic of ebay a while ago cost about 20 pounds used just because I wanted to try a kinetic watch seiko seem to do OK by both these brands 👍
Thank you for this, Ben. However, do consider the Ricardo Swiss Alpine Military watch. Oddly, it's never considered in videos on field watches. (Ricardo have made some expensive vintage watches too). This Ricardo should be a Classic with its superb 12/24 hour luminous cream face and Quartz (Japanese) movement. I prefer it to my Timex Expedition Camper. And, surprisingly, it costs less than £30. Excellent value for a wonderful watch.
I think I've solved the mystery of the little holes round the edge: there is lume on the hands but not anywhere else, so my bet is that Lorus intended to but abandoned the idea of putting lume in them. I have put lume in the little holes on my one ...just to give them something to do :-)
Could you maybe review the green one so we see how that one actually looks. I can't find any pictures, only stock images. On the images, also with this one the three is cut away by the date but you can still see a part of it and the hands look different
I've had the other version (the stainless steel one) on my watch list for a while now, I have to say both of these watches look great and present great value for money. The stainless steel one also has day complication in addition to the date, and the entire dial is lumed with Lumibright. Now I don't know which one to choose. I love field watches and that military esthetics and that the titanium one looks sharp. That strap has to go, though. This one is definitely a cool watch. Great review Ben.
I have the stainless steel version and you cant go wrong with it. Very accurate movement and overall a very durable watch and though it is stainless steel it's still very light on the wrist. Also the lumibrite dial lasts me throughout the whole night and i've had this for at least 3 years.
"Now I don't know which one to choose" ...I was faced with that issue a few days ago, now I have both :-) I also went on ebay to buy a replacement movement incase sometime in the future the existing one goes phut!
I have the excellent Lumibrite stainless steel version, which I think has a slight lead on it for military and security applications. Used them at sea, on Maritime security, all over Afghanistan and the MENA region. Superbly well made, surprisingly good looking and battlefield proven. The lume on the Lumibrite version is excellent.
@@nspr9721 I made a video where I go through it's advantages as a field watch according to my experience as an infantry combat fighter. It really is a smashing little watch.
I’ve had my eye on a Seiko for awhile, but this seems to be almost identical in looks, and if it has a Seiko works inside, I may have to change my mind.
Nice for the price point mentioned. If it were mine, I'd strongly consider filling in the hour markers with lume myself. Should be nice and easy to do here, look nice, and take this up in performance a significant notch.
Hi Ben. Love the channel and since you obviously know what you’re doing what is your opinion about Benyar Watches because they’re everywhere in Amazon!!!!
Thanks for the video, considering getting this watch! So cheap yet functional and sleek! I wish you shared a lume shot as the other stainless steel variant features a full lumibrite dial (wow!) however i prefer this dial as it's cleaner. There's literally no other video on this particular model i can find. Is the dial lumibrite?!
Thank you for an excellent review! I really like this watch BUT... I am looking for an automatic watch. Can you recommend an automatic watch that a similar look and build to this one? Thanks!

interesting...
Great to hear!
Where did you get it?... cant find it
@@ziplok There is a seller on eBay.
Hmmm... Going to seriously consider this. What's the lume like?
1 person who commented on Amazon page on this watch says that this watch has no lume for $68.
Another guy said that has a Very good Lumibrite Lume on the hands.
Hands are lumed and perform well, though nothing elsewhere 👍
After I watched this video I went on eBay and found an older Lorus titanium field watch with fully lumed dial, reference V732 X001. I think the design isn't quite as nice, but it's a lovely little weekender.
Get the steel version from Argos. 30 quid and glows like a Chernobyl worker.
@@MehOccor Yes mine has just a few tiny ones too. Not a big deal. The watch is practical, comfortable, and nice to look at with that Titanium grey !
The steel one will be my first field watch.
Picking it up on Monday, 20 quid in Argos atm, so pretty irresistible 👍
I did the same a year ago, bargain.
Mineral crystal with Titanium case. That makes perfect sense.
Nice to see Lorus get some love (my first watch was one)
I bought a Lorus that looks identical to this in 2003. It cost £40 then. Still keeps perfect time.
I own this watch and agree with your comments, it is very comfortable and looks far better in person than on the Amazon website.
Nice to see a video featuring a lorus watch, I have a few and there alright.
Thanks for this! Bought it and put it on a grey perlon strap. I love it! Just perfect as a analog daily rocker and so light you nearly forget that it‘s there!
The most comfortable watch I own for sure, glad you like it
Hammered the steel version, which has lumibrite face and brilliant in dark, also 100m wr. Cost less than £30. Great for outdoor work.
Jokes on you I ain’t wearing socks
Damn you! Beat me to it by four hours
Archie never wear pants .

This really is a nice little watch. I can't believe you can pick up a titanium cased watch with 100m water resistance for so little money.
Me neither mate, love this watch
Hey Ben, I definitely think Lorus is in the cool section for field watches. Not sure if you have already looked at these watches but you should check out Bertucci. I think they definitely compete for the best low cost field watch. Cheers!
Got it for a few weeks now, and it's awesome, it should have been there since the day I was born! What an amazing whatch just love it!
you have not mentioned lume?
is it only on hands or dial/pips as well?
would be nice to see how it works 😉
So comfy. Cheers All.
Great watch.Highly recommend. My sports Lorus watch for the last six years and will probably buy another one.
The glass does scratch but they
get used weekends and exposed to risks of impact etc.
Never heard of this brand. Thanks for the video.
I have one ,,just got new battery fitted by little kiosk watch repair guy in Silverburn shopping centre, Scotland. I then tested it in bath,,,still leak proof. Great titanium watch 100m!!!
The other Lorus field watch you showed - the one with 100m water resistance has a fully lumed dial, which is a pretty cool feature.
I have just picked this watch up this week (01/04/2022) from my local British Heart Foundation, It came with box, pillow, and papers for £8...😎😎 😁
I love Lorus! Had a Mickey quartz (c.1984 or 85) by them! 😆
*My vote for the RXD425L8 field watch: Cool!
I can't remember how long i have this same Lorus Titanium watch but I remember the price....£23.. i seakayak, canoe, hill walk and camp and with a few minor marks it's as good as new. Easy to read. 100 mtrs
Thanks for the video. Bought it without further hesitation!
Quite a comprehensive video.
I just ordered mine through the link you shared in the description. Great discount. Thanks!
>Many other really cheap watches have a flat piece of acrylic instead
laughs in Omega Speedmaster
Hahaha same!
Great review. Just ordered the lumibrite day date. £42.89.
I had an earlier version of one of these from Lorus. Great watch. Simple, reliable, and durable. All that is needed for a watch like this.
Loved your passionate review! Bought the watch. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
You or anybody looking at this watch should look at the Alba APBT209 and APBT211. Alba is another Seiko brand, also. They're Ti, too. But you get a domed Hardlex crystal and 200m of water resistance.
This watch is fantastic for the price.
I have the Lorus Sports and I love it. Not Titanium but still one of my lightest watches and it has day/date and Lumibrite which I cannot live without. Wish it had a Titanium case too. Can't justfiy buying both.
Amazon link seems to be broken ?
Hi Ben been watching Jody on Justonemorewatch who I do like watching but he reviews really expensive watches stumbled on this review as I was looking to buy the Seiko snk809 but have been assured by yourself that this is the best for your buck now have you subscribed as my number 1 plus I think I'm right in thinking your based in UK so far more ahead of the competition keep up the great work
Not always, he does reviews of affordable watches too like Casio and timex
I have my first lorus dive watch of over 20 years and the whole dial still glows in the night bright as ever.
Good accurate second hand
Proper bargain
Hi Topgazza, was this in store or online? I can't find it anywhere.
@@jonathanblock2542
It was in store. I got the impression there was limited stock for whatever reason. My local store had one but said she could check stock elsewhere if she didn’t. Not seen it in the window since
If you haven’t tried already I would order online if the still have it on the website.
@@topgazza Not even listed on website. What was the name of your store? Feeling they might be discontinued. Might start ringing all the branches one by one dropping the model number to see if it's in stock. LOL

Basingstoke
There are a couple of lookalikes around including a Hamilton at a ridiculous £565. If you can’t find one let me know as I’ll be ok to sell it for what I paid for it. I now have 18 watches so I’d be happy to do that if you wanted. Where are you ?
I’m sure we can sort something on the email front. And do a deal via PayPL gift or BT
Hi @@topgazza , I'm in Dublin Ireland. I tried calling Basingstoke a couple times this morning but didn't get through. If they can't assist I'll take you up on your offer. I've got 4 watches, how are you circulating 18 lol!! 2 of the watches I'm terrified of scratching and the Hamilton would be another. This little Lorus would be a fun wear and something I'd enjoy scratching up.
I have had my lours watch since I was 17 years old I paid £75.00 for it & I'm now 27 bit scratched still going well
Nice watch for the money bought a pulsar kinetic of ebay a while ago cost about 20 pounds used just because I wanted to try a kinetic watch seiko seem to do OK by both these brands 👍
I just love Field watches, i have a ALBA black dial solar field watch. ALBA is by SEIKO, it looks similar to this.
I have been looking for a field watch like this! Just bought in today. Though, it was $80 USD.
Great find! That’s why I subbed to this channel. Only thing is it is nearly 70$ in the USA
I think I've solved the mystery of the little holes round the edge: there is lume on the hands but not anywhere else, so my bet is that Lorus intended to but abandoned the idea of putting lume in them.
I have put lume in the little holes on my one ...just to give them something to do :-)
36mm looks perfect for your wrist size. This is a great find! I never thought of checking out lorus before..
Me neither Fraser, going to research some more of theirs in the future
1:01. Second hand hitting the markers perfectly. Very nice.
bit of useless trivia, Michael Douglas wore a lorus in Falling Down
was it an inside joke
I have to buy one now. Not this one though, an £11 one.
Well the character was a homicidal psycho, at least he knew a good budget watch brand when he saw it!
Wow, this watch really seems to hit the mark! Thanks for your clear review, I ordered one, I am very curious!
Hallo Ben, great finding this piece. A great amount of quality for the money! I vote ice-cold! Love it
Hi Ben. Love the channel and since you obviously know what you’re doing what is your opinion about Benyar Watches because they’re everywhere in Amazon!!!!
Can't beat it ..have been buying for years..tough all rounder. .
There's a discontinued version of this with Seiko on the dial.
You got me interested
Thanks for the video, considering getting this watch! So cheap yet functional and sleek! I wish you shared a lume shot as the other stainless steel variant features a full lumibrite dial (wow!) however i prefer this dial as it's cleaner. There's literally no other video on this particular model i can find. Is the dial lumibrite?!
Aaaand it's sold out everywhere in North America including eBay. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAM YOU. All the other Lorus field watches have that ugly lumibrite.
Landed one on Amazon 🤞🏼 hope my order gets through
Given the price and case material. Very cool
Thank you for an excellent review! I really like this watch BUT... I am looking for an automatic watch. Can you recommend an automatic watch that a similar look and build to this one? Thanks!
Automatics are less accurate and outdated technology.
