Well I'm a year late on this. I bought the Lumibrite. The other week I got a tatty, now cleaned and restored, titanium model. My next consideration is swapping out the movements so that I can put the Lumibrite movement into the titanium case once I can figure out how to remove the stems. The steel Lumibrite is now on a steel Milanese bracelet, the titanium is on an early style James Bond strap. Without the strap and bracelet, total cost £59.99. they will last for donkey's years and will be more accurate than any Rolex. Thanks Ben. We're not daft are we? 👍

Just so you know I bought (and still have) a Lorus titanium field watch with a black dial many many years ago. Looks good too. Same design as the cream face.

During low-light conditions - not just in the field, but hiking, camping, walking home from a country pub, in a corner of a dimly-lit warehouse on the night shift - you will see how the steel lumibrite version fully comes into its own. Many useful benefits and not just for those who go lurking in the darkness with a weapons system!
I've just found one of each of these, new-old-stock, just over seventy pounds for the pair, delivered. Merry 2021 xmas to me! :) I do enjoy your channel, and find it both informative and entertaining. Thanks for the hard work you put in, it is appreciated.
I have the lumibrite and I just loove it. Actually you do not have to be an adventurer to appreciate the lume of the dial, you can just be the sort of person who stays up way too late - hence my preference. I really like the green tint to the creamcolor, so for me that's just perfect, trick is to use either a more green strap, or some more vivid colors on the strap (looks great with black strap with an orange stripe for instance) - it's a slim watch, so a NATO-strap works just great. I can't compare it to it's titanium-sister, since I don't have one nearby, but looking at Bens video here, I can tell that the greater contrast between hands and dial on the lumibrite, will make it much easier for me to read at a glance. I have slender wrists, but I'd still like the diameter to be juuust a little larger - 40mm or so, but it's not a dealbreaker. It's a great watch: you put it on, forget you're wearing it, and get a pleasant surprise each time you need to tell the time :)
Dear Master Ben, the titanium watch that you link to isn't the same as the one you're introducing in this program. So I just got a slightly different model today. The whole dial of my new watch can glow, but not the hands.
I have had a Lorus Sports Lumibrite for 20 years, i would never change to another type. It loses one second every three months !!!!!!!!!! The battery lasts for 5 years. Waterproof to 100M. I have 20 different straps that i change regularly to get an alternative look.
I bought one last year and recommend it. The strap for me was terrible because it was so stiff and itchy. That was remedied by getting other straps to change the look and comfort factor. The lume is not long lasting if that is a factor and is not plentiful on the slim minutes and hour hands.
I saw this review and purchased the RXF4 with lumibrite just for 36€ and it's amazing what you get for the price. Week days in English and French. I dislike so much the strap and put the stainless steel of my Casio A158 and now it's perfect: lightway, precise and beaitiful. Thanks for you reviews fron Spain!!
Excellent review, I bought my titanium one from John Lewis for £47.50 inc delivery but then found it for £34.99 at watchshop.com, so I returned my J Lewis purchase for the latter. I love the titanium one, feels solid, lightweight, aesthetically pleasing with sharper print on the dial, and above all military in colours and design. If you compare it to 5be Hamilton khaki they share similar design. All together a good shout from Ben !
You returned it just because you could save that tiny amount. That’s being a tight ass. Now the seller gets landed with a second hand watch just because you’re a tight ass 😂
Why choose? Why pay £100 combined for two field watches that are almost identical. For another £150 you get a Hamilton Khaki. For another £120 you could get one of the new Seiko 5 range. There is a tipping point where buying too many low cost watches becomes a false economy. Because you could have used the combined cost to purchase something higher end and iconic. Have one or two low cost watches in your collection, but don’t over do it. Get one of these and get a Casio A158W.
I was considering buying both but got the titanium version for a better price than the steel. I would like the option of a full lume dial on the titanium because it is poor on the hands. Does the full lume dial stay bright for long? Let us know here if the dial swap was successful. I'm sure there are many that want to know.
@@grahampinnock309 first from where you got a better deal Secondly Recently i check their website they issued a new model With the dial of the taitanum one and lume ... You should check this out
Great review just got the lorus titanium field watch “today “ love it lots more than the other one dial too bright for my eyes and the brightness would keep me awake all night long cheers
I have both. I'm considering swapping the movements in the cases. They look to be exactly the same size and should (in theory) be a simple matter of taking out the stem, popping the movements in, putting the stems back in and closing the case.
Solid review, absolutely bang on. Had both. One day in Disney Waterpark stuffed my steel one! The titanium one have had for four years, 24/7, well hammered, no probs. Would buy again, and again!
I'm looking for a durable, small, outdoor watch for walking and camping that is not expensive so I don't need to worry if it gets smashed. The lumibrite version looks ideal
Thank you for the discovery of the Lorus Lorus RXD425L8, it is I think victim of its success, I could not find any to offer it to me. In any case I am delighted to have discovered your channel you tube, I subscribed
Ben, these are stellar finds! I'm a year late to the party here. Now in the market for a field watch. These both hit so many requirements for me and for the price is insane. I just bought the Lumibrite model for £30 on Argos UK as I'm unable to find the Titanium anywhere. I look forward to picking that up when it becomes available. Something I can beat around with with good water resistance where the second hand makes good effort to hit the markers. I have watches I am terrified of scratching and always so nervous when wearing that actually sucks something out of the experience. I look forward to scratching this Lumibrite up and telling a story.
God bless the Lorus Company exists and deliver to us watches like this. I bought Titanium for 50euro. My friend will change for me this mineral glass to sapphire. So total i will pay 80 euro for all for this price this watch is king of field watches.
I picked up the s/s lumibrite a few days ago for a bargain bargain at Argos £19.99, checked Amazon £44.99....couldnt believe the difference....⌚🏴⌚🏴
Enjoyable review, I have just picked up the stainless steel lumibrite one from Argos for just £19.99. Surely that has to be the best value beater out there.
Something about a full lumed dial is so attractive to me. I already have a full lume Orient and thanks to your video I may need to get this one too when the price on Amazon evens out here in the US. Glad I found your channel Ben! Keep up the good work.
I much prefer the aesthetics of the Titanium version but the Lumibrite dial was the bit that sold me, its a great day to day watch, always super legible indoors or outdoors and especially when going from outside into darker places. Comfortable and practical watch, very accurate too, I never need to adjust except for DST. I wear mine with a black Nato strap, look good. Mine is an older plated brass case, but looks identical to the current model.
I would recommend the Seiko 5 SNK803/805/809 to anyone looking for a great affordable field/military style watch. Automatic movement with exhibition caseback available at around £100 mark. I own the 809 and couldn’t be happier with it. Enjoying the reviews!
Why would anyone want a mechanical field watch though? You drop them and they need repairing. Mechanical watches haven’t been used in the field since quart and Casio came along. Nice to look at but not fit for purpose. And at the very least you would need a self wnd. Not just an automatic. They stop too often to be of any use in the field.
Really enjoy your videos Ben. My work often suffers due to the amount of time I spend watching them, and now it seems, so does my wallet :-) I couldn't decide which one to purchase after watching this video, so after much debate and deliberation (poor wifey) I just bought both. Cheers, and keep up the great work!
I’ve owned both. I lost the Titanium and sorely miss it. Having owned it for many years and it had gone through all with me. Its crystal was rather scuffed from all my adventurers but it maintained it accuracy throughout. Eventually I bought a Lumibrite, simply because I couldn’t find another Titanium for sale. But managed to smash the crystal less than 8mths. later, (don’t get hit by a tree is my advice). After effectively losing both and after a couple of months of looking, I eventually bought another Lumibrite. Hoping I don’t get hit by another tree anytime soon. As of 2022 - the Lumibrite has been discontinued. I think the Titanium has too.
Enjoyed your excellent review, Ben. I bought a couple of the cheaper stainless steel version with the insanely bright full dial Lumibrite lume, which lasts all night. I've put a grey NATO G10 on one and a mat finish shark mesh bracelet on the other to give it a slightly dressier look. The steel version has the benefit of drilled lugs and a day/date feature, as well as the incredible lume - the tungsten version is also great and I've got one on the way. I think it will look smart on a decent Bond G10 NATO, with mat SS fittings. Both watches are amazing value for money and I'd slot both watches into the ice-cool category.
I have an older Alba version which has the same exact titanium housing as the Lorus titanium model with the notches and also has a full lume feature. Decent daily beater
I opted for the lumibrite version and I was not disappointed. I changed the original strap for a lighter khaki coloured one with matt finished hardware. It now looks the dogs. Cheers Ben.
I have the Titanium watch and it is a very good watch. I purchased it in August 2020 for about $50 and it was hard to find then. I ended up finding it in Croatia I believe.
I'm on my 2nd Lorus since 2003. The first one lasted 12 years. Apart from being a beautifully designed watch, my Lumibrite is extremely accurate, drifting by less than 20 seconds in a whole year.
Oh my, I'm working on my review for the Lumibrite one (Awesome watch!) and was going to release it in the next couple of days... I'm wondering if I should hold it off for now...
BTW, funny story about how I got that watch... I commented on your previous video for the titanium one, saying that I have the Lumibrite one on my wish list, and someone reached out to me and sent me his watch, which he wasn't using, so I can enjoy and review it!
I bought the Lorus titanium mainly because of the colour, it stood out from all the chromium, and gold coloured watches in the window. I also like the aesthetic, it isn't in any way 'Bling.' It was also very good value, especially as it has been working reliably (and accurately, for the 15+ years since I bought it. I found out the hard way a couple of years back that the 'waterproof to 100m' claim, is not for the lifetime of the watch, as mine let in water and stopped. It's been all round the world with me now, the crystal is scratched but I have no intention to replace it. In fact, I think I'd get a replacement movement for it, when it eventually fails, if that ever happens.
Once I can get my Casio digital train to stop and I can get off, i have a small list of field watches I want to get hold of. These look nice. Great review, and these are closer to £50 now though ☹
Eyeing the Lumibrite exactly for the "bad print" on the dial. To me it looks a little more "vintage", kind of like a patina... goes really well with the black painted hands and small case/dial diam. Also full lume dials are rare. would definetly polish away the coating tho. Swapping the dials and building a titanium full lume watch seems a pretty good idea too!
The black hands and darker dial really don't speak to me. I got the titanium one a few days ago (Thanks to your video) and I definitely made the right choice!
The accuracy of these watches are amazing. I have owed three, and all of them were accurate to three seconds a month. For watches that cost around £25 that is astounding. Also,(Timex take note), they all hit the second markers perfectly.
What is the lumibrite like on your watch in terms of how long it glows? I bought the titanium one and it is great. The strap was immediately replaced and it now feels way more comfortable but the lume on the hands is minimal.
I have both of these watches in my collection but also the green dialled version of the titanium Lorus. All great watches but the better quality you can't go wrong with the two titanium versions.
I recently purchased the titanium watch and it's really amazing for the price and so comfortable to wear. I also was considering to purchase the lumibrite model also but changed my mind as I already have a Seiko Solar field watch with a day/date function which I wear often and has a really great lume on it which cost me around £120 when I got it but is far superior to a Citizen Eco Drive field watch I already had. It would be nice for you to review the Seiko Solar field watch I mentioned if you ever come across it. Thanks Ben for your review and keep up the good work.
Seiko's sub companies use this case to have all kinds of combos in SS, Ti, Quartz, Solar, etc etc... Check out Alba for instance. I guess it's the right size, both classic/easy design case and fits all kind of movements. But this Titanium cutie is my cup of tea (just wonder why the holes on the bezel... are they for my emeralds??? ffs!)
Good review/comparison. Geez how long has the original one been going? I bought one mid 90s in Argos and lost it circa '08.Great piece of kit, only had to replace the strap,(with a stripey NATO), you"ve given me the urge to get one again.
Mine has the previous VX32 movement. I wonder if it is possible to buy both and do a mix and match on the components, lumibright dial in the titanium case? I have had the titanium one for 10 plus years, the titanium is rather soft and it does wear, all the sharp edges are gone on mine and it now has a gentle polished look, all the matt has gone. Still the most comfortable watch ever, it's now on a leather strap.
Both are great field watches with 100m wr and great value for money. As much as I think that full lume dial is an awesome feature in this price range, I'd still go for the titanium model. I prefer the cleaner dial and hands on that one. But if you go for both you have a great combo for very decent amount of money.
I read somewhere that there is/was an Asian Seiko Alba model which is a mixture of these two models: titanium case + lumibrite dial. If it only was possible to add a solar charging system to it, there you'd have an unicorn. I dunno if it's mandatory to have black or dark dial to work solar, but as far as I know there are Citizen Eco-Drive watches with a beige dial.
I havenumerous peices, mostly autos, two solarsand one quartz,(a bulova precisionist).I got my female a nice lady's ecodrive several years ago,and after watching her having truoble reading it,(gold colored hands and dial),,and having to take it off an on when she did stuff around the house,I decided to get her something economical to wear around the house, but I wanted a GOOD watch for her,so after some research,I got her the lorus pictured above, with the full lume dial, and put a spadex type bracelet on it.She loves it,it's easy to read, and easy to take on an off-Im somewhat of a watch snob, and I wouldn't be ashamed to wear a lorus
I want the combination of the two! I want the titanium with the luma bright face. Anybody know if you can swap the movement and face from one to the other?
I wouldn't bother with LUMIBRIGHT, as it doesn't stay bright for very long and it needs a lot of exposure to a light source to charge it up. If you're wearing long sleeves, I find that it doesn't charge at all. So don't hold off on buying the Titanium version. I've had mine for as long as I can remember. It has been totally reliable and it takes some very rough treatment in my line of work. Buy it: you won't be disappointed. Rick
Thanks for the lumibrite info. I've just asked someone about lumibrite. The titanium version has it on the hands but in my opinion it is very poor for longevity and also is minimal on the slim minutes and hour hands.
@@grahampinnock309 What you'll find is that the Lumibright works best (if it has charged) walking out of the office to your car or to catch the train. It's, initially, much blighter than the Titanium. But, if you're in total darkness, say several hours later, then the Titanium version is just about readable, while the Lumibright version is completely unreadable. Neither are particularly good (the push-button lighting of Timex is much better), but for my use the Titanium has the slight edge. If I wake up at night, I can (only just) read the time on the Titanium. Hope this helps.
@@rickbear7249 thanks for your reply. I've just seen the dial of the steel one and it makes sense that the titanium one is readable much later because of the lume on the hands. I had assumed the full dial lume was like the Timex indiglo.
I consider buying the green one after having the lumibright one second hand. But it seems like no one bought the green one, only stock images of that one! Maybe with a brown strap 😍
I have the Lorus RJ655AX9F (VJ33-X025 movement - steel case. I like to keep a spare battery and have searched the net and cannot find the battery type anywhere. Do you know which type of battery this watch takes. Good review - Cheers, Dave
I have both first years (decades now). So had to change the Straps which transformed the feel. Could you please perhaps make a recommendation on watch straps companys for these ?
I've got both. I've put them both on leather straps. I think I prefer the titanium watches dial but I like the day feature on the steel one. They are both amongst my favourites of my small collection.
I have the Lorus Sport, love it muchly. It is light too, has must have day/date and 100meters and Lumbrite. So wish it had titanium option with sapphire crystal.
Why choose when you can have it all in the shape of the Alba APBT205! Titanium case *and bracelet* , full lume dial, *200m* water resistance, subtly domed crystal, and, with Alba being another Seiko subsidiary just like Lorus, a Seiko quartz day/date movement with English and kanji days 😎 got mine on eBay from a Japanese seller for $95 iirc. Ben the production on these videos is trough the roof mate, the shots of the watches are impeccable.
Damn I LOVE Lumibrite dials ! Not very tactical, but so cool. Note to anyone buying one of these, the bands are like sandpaper, spend $3 and get a cheap NATO or Zulu strap for it.
I have recently bought a ALBA watch it is both titanium and 10 Bar waterproof with full Lumbright function. It seems to have the best of both Lloris watches in one all for $65. A bargain.
Ive got both of these, the only difference with my lumibrite is that after i had had it for about five years the plating started to wear off and underneath it is brass is this an odd one or were the early ones brass or is it Gold@
I have owned the Titanium version for 20+ years. I recently decided to buy a backup watch, in case my Titanium one got broken or simply wore out. In testing the LUMIBRITE watch I was very disappointed in its poor longevity. Its brilliance quickly faded once I'd left a well lit environment. Also, if the face got covered by a shirt sleeve, then it didn't illuminate at all. So, whereas the luminosity of the Titanium watch shouldn't even come close to the LUMIBRIGHT watch, I actually find the Titanium watch has better nighttime readability when I'm working in the dark for extended periods. One last point. On the LUMIBRIGHT watch, the days of the week can be set to display in English or in French. Both nice watches, but I find the Titanium watch's less cluttered face and extreme light weight make it the better of the two. Rick
Agree totally regarding the lume,I've had both watches and the lumibrite dial fades in no time whereas the hands on the titanium version are visible hours later.
Just starting my journey into collecting affordable watches after subscribing to the channel (I thought collecting watches was reserved for the watch snobs out there) and I picked up the lumibrite from Argos for £25. It's a cracking little field watch for the money and can be paired with any number of NATO straps to make it your own. Anyway, video still relevant 3 years on 👍
Concise & compact review. I got the titanium model a month ago from John Lewis for £55 - 80% of which was covered by a store voucher ( Xmas). I got it for summer - esp. holidays ( remember them?)where my skx gets heavy in 30°plus degrees & where I don't want to wear my Oceanus titanium ( a bit more pricey & probably overpriced if dazzling ( sch! don't mention the bracelet)).
I might be in the minority, but I really like the steel / lumibrite dial and hands more - the hour and minute indicators and solid hands are a lot more noticeable and the elements on the dial feel more balanced together vs the titanium. Both seem like really nice watches for the price though!
I'm right with you @RoyRoblox. I've used these under military and field security conditions for years, also given them to local students and forces / emergency responders we train. Excellent quality, much better visibility and larger, clearer digits. Robust and reliable and looks really good with a change of strap!
The titanium is clearly better here imo because it's just so much better looking and it has that distinguishing titanium feature. Also the lume is overwhelming on the lumbrite imo. I think a more fair comparison is an Alba vs Pulsar field watch (their solar models for example). Those are also reasonably priced Seiko sub-brands.
Really started to like the lumibrite model and am thinking of buying one. Also, if you want something similar, check out the new Pulsar PX3221X1 (the black model), there are also the blue and green. It is a new version of the PS9045X1. It is solar powered and the price is a bit higher now as it is new, but it seems like a great watch. No one reviewed it yet so maybe that is something you could do Ben. 😁
Very true, I have the pulsar now, and its brilliant! Strange none of the youtubers picked this model up so far, oh and btw, the titanium lorus is perfect as well.

I'd love to get the Titanium one, I prefer the cleaner dial.
I bought one last year and recommend it. The strap for me was terrible because it was so stiff and itchy. That was remedied by getting other straps to change the look and comfort factor. The lume is not long lasting if that is a factor and is not plentiful on the slim minutes and hour hands.
Totally agree, but I LOVE the Lumibrite dial !
Id love the titanium one as well but with the lumibrite feature
Why choose? I ordered both and will try to put the lumibrite dial in the titanium case.
Will .this is interesting
Tell us the updates

I have had the date only model for a couple of weeks. No problems, no worries. It's a great watch.
Great review just got the lorus titanium field watch “today “ love it lots more than the other one dial too bright for my eyes and the brightness would keep me awake all night long cheers
Just ordered the Lumibright one from a uk retailer! always wanted to try a full lume dial, thank you for the review!
Alex Poleatsky - Mine doesnt last but about 20 minutes in the dark, then turns into a faint green distorted blob and is unreadable. How about yours?
My preference is for the Titanium model. Thanks for the video!
Lorus watches seem a lot better made these days. Maybe the brand has been improved to replace the defunct Pulsar brand...
I would recommend the Seiko 5 SNK803/805/809 to anyone looking for a great affordable field/military style watch. Automatic movement with exhibition caseback available at around £100 mark. I own the 809 and couldn’t be happier with it.
Enjoying the reviews!
I have the same809 and really really love it! Still...I really like the lumibrite including the cream color
haha.
The trouble is the Seiko 5 has a glass back that breaks easily plus
is not as accurate as a quartz.
I have had the Lumibrite Sport watch for about 20 years now, great watch and super accurate cost about £25 when I bought it.
In UK at Argos £30.
I fit mine on quality Zulu NATO straps and they look outstanding! Cost is pretty moderate too!
Did something similar with my own - both now look first-class! :)
The lumibrite is currently £19.99 at argos in the UK
Does anyone know where to get a sapphire crystal for the lumibrite?
I have an older Alba version which has the same exact titanium housing as the Lorus titanium model with the notches and also has a full lume feature. Decent daily beater
I opted for the lumibrite version and I was not disappointed. I changed the original strap for a lighter khaki coloured one with matt finished hardware. It now looks the dogs. Cheers Ben.
I like the lumibrite steel watch. Besides the sick lume, 24 scale is more apparent and visible.
+12 in head be too hard
Its all good not all your viewers are his and you have your own opinions.
I lose my last one
Any idea how to change the strap
The accuracy of these watches are amazing. I have owed three, and all of them were accurate to three seconds a month. For watches that cost around £25 that is astounding. Also,(Timex take note), they all hit the second markers perfectly.
I almost picked up the Titanium but went with the Lumibrite in the end as it was only 29 pounds on eBay I have spent the extra on a new Nato strap
Hi I had the stainless steel one for the last 15 years as a Firefighter and it performed without fault. Avaliable at Argos £29.99.
do you still have it? and does it still works? :D
@@relosapulso yes all works fine , it has a lot of memories for me thanks for asking.
@@firefighter387 incredible! Awesome to hear that 😁, keep those memories coming for that cool piece, thanks for the response as well
It's nice to see watches that are cheap but not rubbish, thanks and stay safe.
Thanks John, you too 👍
I have the steel version, I’ve had it for around 5 years now and performs well, it came with a green strap.
But this Titanium cutie is my cup of tea (just wonder why the holes on the bezel... are they for my emeralds??? ffs!)
I'd go for the titanium one too: cleaner, simpler design. Anyway, the steel Lumibrite one is not bad - I would wear it without problems.
I'm going for the titanium one. It is exactly what I've been looking for at a good price.
Both are great field watches with 100m wr and great value for money. As much as I think that full lume dial is an awesome feature in this price range, I'd still go for the titanium model. I prefer the cleaner dial and hands on that one. But if you go for both you have a great combo for very decent amount of money.
I would totally go for a titanium + lumibrite Lorus
I would like to color-fill the accents on the titanium model. I think black accent marks would look very nice with a black and gray stripped nato.
For me the Lumibrite just makes the difference, for a weekend outside camping that is the perfect companion.
This was the video ive been waiting for! Thank you. If only the titanium had lumibrite bang id be making that order right now.
Watching the show made me want a little lumibrite and its a brilliant little beater watch , cheers ben.
Who you going to beat

I consider buying the green one after having the lumibright one second hand. But it seems like no one bought the green one, only stock images of that one! Maybe with a brown strap 😍
Lorus is such an underrated brand... They have some solid offering at a great price!
Love both but own the SS Lumibrite, that said I think I prefer the cleaner face of the Titanium, wonder if I can still find one?
What is the material /chemical which is lighting in the dark ?
Clear, helpful video. Thanks for that. Lorus is a sound budget brand.
Anyway, video still relevant 3 years on 👍
Great watch that!
How about reviewing the Sekonda 1506 Pilot which is very similar to the Lumbrite Sport
Had a lumibrite version years ago for work, perfect, good water resistance. Ideal
The titanium one has a much cleaner dial. And I like the look of the hands more. So it would be my number one pick.
Please do a review on lorus RL415BX9 lume version
Lorus RXF41A7 The face rumour has it. That it was based on the sort of old clocks to be found on train station platforms
