Please, please post more content like this. This gets people understanding the activity, what it takes, what it's like in any given minute of the season. These are my favorite videos I've ever seen about drum corps.
This is way more interesting to watch than lot videos, it’s one thing to watch the final product but it’s totally different to watch the journey towards it
The second snare from the right, my ex-student from Colombia, South America, is learning the book and English at the same time. It is a good thing the music is universal.
This is a more realistic example of what drum corps is really like than any other youtube vid I've ever seen. I'm so disappointed this season got cancelled, but vids like this remind me of why I do this activity. 2021 will be the year.
“We can make this a one and done, if you so choose”. One of my favorite lines to hear staff say bc it reminds us that we’re a major part of who runs the rehearsal. The better we rehearse, the faster we can get through chunks and get better at more things. 11:52
Justus I love the mentality of “everything is a choice”. Eventually, you know what your job is; just commit to it. Missing drum corps since Scouts 18 lmao..
The staff at Crown are huge proponents of that; the attitude is very much "work smarter, not harder" and reinforces our ability as members to be in control and do things right the first time. There were definitely times when rehearsals would end early over the summer simply because we chose to focus and give 110% on the first rep of each chunk, and the staff recognized that.
His master class at NC State explains his teaching style. IMO, the most successful programs have instructors whose leadership is better than their chops or knowledge. You can find his master class on youtube. It won't let me post the link.
This rehearsal vibe seems so great and fun to be a part of. They all have respect for each other. He's not killing them physically. They're working hard but not over working. They seem to be having a great time while getting stuff done. Perfect rehearsal vibe.
This video is so important. Due to what the audience sees, there's this sense that these people walk in and from day one of auditions, are absolute machines. Nah, they grow into that and this video of their learning process shows a fraction of the effort and steps the take to become amazing performers
Damien Masterson yo my guy do DCA, it’s pretty damn fun. Weekend warriors of drum corps, but you get to be out on the field any season. I started with Cincinnati Tradition before scouts, loved it. You were Mandarins right?
Hey coming from an old musician whenever I find myself cursing the fact that a video/TH-cam didn't exist back when I 18-21 it's a sure sign that its outstanding content. This is the kind of content I would have watched 50+ times.
maybe I browse videos on a different youtube than you do, but I've never seen that kinda stuff on videos like these. I feel like that everyone watching these kinds of videos understands how playing and marching actually works, and criticism like that is usually just useless
I see A lemon well yeah cause people compare top secret to vanguard or BD and it’s just nowhere near that clean and top secret isn’t a true drum corps, but I don’t usually see “dirt” comments on other dci videos unless it’s a really early season video
@@ethans-d6105 That was kind of a hot take. I see these comments all the time on anything that's not Vanguard or Bluecoats vids. I understand SCv and Bloo are REALLY good but it's really irritating seeing people just bash groups because they're not those 2
I want a purple cap. Don’t know if you sell them but probably couldn’t afford one..you guys kick azz. Drum line coach you need to wear a Speedo when in the heat to make us watching you feel. The heat😂😊
2020 seasons canceled = no 2020 dci footage so... it only makes since to post all the awesome content they got from last year to help kids (and fans) cope a little during this summer by treating them with this amazing & insightful footage. (atleast it makes since to me but i dont know)
@@escapethematrix4204 curious, why does it suck for people who paid? They've had access to this content for almost a full year before the people who are seeing it today. Not tryna argue or anything, just wanting to see where you're coming from. (plus quarantine's got me in a chatty mood)😁
And there is a time and place for nitpicky comments, but sometimes when the block is a different focus, only macro or big picture comments are necessary.

Michael Webster I couldn’t agree more
This video is from their paid content. Not sure how much more they will release.
Sameeee
I must be missing something. I am 8:07 and he not mentioned one thing about drumming or music.
This is way more interesting to watch than lot videos, it’s one thing to watch the final product but it’s totally different to watch the journey towards it
This type of content makes you really appreciate the final product so much more after you've seen a small amount of the hard work they put in.
agreed
yeah cool man

Then watch these…nobody is stopping you
Everytime Dan asks “everyone with me?” I’m completely left behind 😂

Proud him, he must know English pretty well though to even be on the line because of instruction

Please do one with Vanguard, this would be awesome to see how Paul teaches his groups. I love this Crown video as well.
RaiKwon Green paul wouldnt allow other lines to see his secrets 🤫
officialnovadrome smart guy
Yes it would. I wanna see how the best do it

@@awolpete10 I was at that master class. Yes he taught some methods but not exactly how he teaches Vanguard.
Crown 19 book was and is insane.
Kasai Style I’m so brain washed, I literally read that as Covid 19.

"I apologize Billy. Forgive me" Haha I lost it
8:00 literally the most insane thing I’ve ever heard
i could watch this all day
I could literally watch rehearsals all day
I love 7:30 cause I'm the type that messes up small things like that, and it reminds me DCI players are human too, lol.

The Spock shots at 1:35 are so cool cuz they sound like they’re going down in pitch
6:41 "Forgive me, Billy."
It’s so cool to see this stuff
Ugh I miss marching!! Yes I aged out a long time ago but I truly miss playing sick beats with awesome friends!! Thanks Flo, love watching these videos
i like this book a lot. also this video makes me miss being behind the drum. boutta march DCA for real

The lesson learned really is the detail of the pattern is movement
these videos are so great, this is the secret sauce on how these lines really get good over the summer
Met Dan when he marched for the Cavs. The guy is awesome!
7:41 i love how dawson ticked and started playing on the rims until he came back in on the drum, imma start doing that now when i mess up
It’s actually what people should be doing, it’s smart
I love the universal drum talk of “doos” “KAHs” and “beggadeggas” I hear it as perfect English
dan is the man.
I don't know what it is, but watching the actual rehearsal and watching the process makes me more excited to actually march drum corps.
I love spring training rehearsal clips
Uma grande performance 👏👏👏
truly a joy to watch, as an educator and performer. thank you
THAT BASS LINE

Excellent, insightful, and informative. Shows It takes “a lot” to get to “The Lot”. Well shot and well done.

Biggest lie
Do they actually teach or just tell them to play in time?
Jingle Berry same thing.
Their goal this block clearly isn't music focused so you're not gonna get many music comments. It's to get lot drill in order.
Considering Crown was up there with the cleanest drumlines this season, and the past few seasons, I'd say it's safe to say they teach them.
And there is a time and place for nitpicky comments, but sometimes when the block is a different focus, only macro or big picture comments are necessary.

15 min of clicking sticks and zero instruction. Good reps guys!
Modern marching percussion is awful and just a bunch of unnecessary noice.
