They look extremely stupid and cringeworthy. I don’t know how anyone could think those utterly hideous, emasculating outfits are even the least bit funny/cool/amusing.
@@tjwreds1 yeah actually I’m a blast at parties, because at the ones i go to we don’t find retarded cringy stuff funny. We find actual funny stuff funny. I’m not trying to take anything away from these kids as players. They are phenomenal. But they look like clowns. And I don’t see how anyone outside of the biggest geeks/Phantom stans can think otherwise.
As a teacher, I love this content. I try to compare what I’d say to the group to what Rob is saying, and it really helps me validate my ears or consider novel things I didn’t hear the first time. Thanks Flo.
I love rehearsal footage! Both great to see them get better but the comments given help me in my own playing! I love to apply common comments before my techs would even give them! Great video!
It's very small details. If someone is a 16th early you can hear it. Some of it is stick height dynamics, the other part is adding movement and trying not to drag the tempo. That section of music had a lot of challenging rudimental elements that tire you out pretty quickly so this is also conditioning through and past your limits. It's a great video.
@@bcowell1982 appreciate that ..that makes sense yea the coach is obviously very experienced and most likely a judge himself and like anything that's this competitive it details ..I give those kidz plenty respect and compliments
Rob Ferguson.....I got to hear him speak quite a lot at one point. I once dreamt of being a part of Matrix WGI, Rob Fergusons love child (he's wearing a matrix shirt if you wanna check that for yourself). Went to the audition, tried for quads. They might have even given me a spot in open class too! At the first day they ranked me as 7th of 12 auditionees. I did not go back to the second audition... Honestly though, Rob's percussion knowledge and experience is blatant. His personal understanding of the drum and his experience mastering his philosophy show in everything that he does. I didn't really care much for the "To be badass is the ultimate goal" vibe. He preached many goals, somethin about music or whatever, but really the goal was to BE THE LITERAL COOLEST GROUP. Only to be achieved through musical excellence or whatever but badassery was really the goal. It was my only chance to be in a professional corps thanks to my bonus year. I decided it was not for me.
I marched three seasons with a world class drum corps. At the end of the day, the general public will prefer HBCUs to a DCI battery the majority of the time. Clean doesn't always mean entertaining.
oceanic714 If people actually understand the hard work and concentration put into playing clean, it would be more entertaining tenfold.... buuut sadly the general population doesn't know anything about drum chops hahah
jules I think that showmanship is a huge part of it. People can recognize the talent of a DCI line while still finding the movement and overall simple and catchy music of a HBCU kind to be so entertaining and impressive
marklower007 you can teach a group of middle schoolers to do shitty drum corps stuff to, doesn’t say anything about the style, more about the players you are teaching, for every crown you’ve got a NCA&T, for every Fayetteville state you’ve got a Carolina Gold. It just depends on the group you are watching and the dedication and passion of the people in said group. Drum corps aren’t inherently cleaner or better drumlines. I say all this as a corps style kid who went to NCCU an HBCU, those cats were clean as fuck and entertaining while at it, every kid there put in the same work, the same effort, the same concentration as any corps style kid performing at a high level.
Refreshing to see rehearsal vids vs lot vids
Imagine being in one of those houses across the street trying to take a nap and all you hear is Phantom battery
Elijah Martinez I mean what’s wrong with that tbh
KnighTime absolutely nothing 😂
Pichael Pecker-Head I actually saw one of their lots last year, so dreams do indeed come true haha

Fantastic writing, aggressive yet intelligent approach to the drum. Love this new look of Phantom Regiment drums. Another underrated line from 2019

I can’t imagine how to lock a line in like this in one year. The amount of rehearsals must be insane, and auditions must be blistering!!!
I enjoy watching rehearsal footage. It’s just preparing me for what I expect to go through this summer!
Daniel honestly dude, ain’t nothing like some diddles under the heat with your buds and knowing you’re improving
Abraham Rivera we hope for the best! Chop out and grind hard until we get another season
I love rehearsal videos. They really show the work that goes into these movements. Shows how hard they work
I appreciate these videos that show some of the grind of the activity, please keep making them flomarching!
Yup. That's some Rob beats and Rob comments. Love it!
Amen
Some of my fondest memories were during tracking blocks. We would get to know our surroundings at different housing sites.
that bass five is on his heels the whole time... god bless
I wish some of these drum corp’s would match in Mardi Gras parades. That would be so badass to see.
Very few of you people have experienced Rob playing solo marimba. My model in college. Lucky have been at Kent while he was still a grad student...
i'd pay money to be the guy on the scooter in the background
I like how there is a random guy in the back ground on a motor scooter just watching.
Ahhhh yes the wonderful Rob Furgeson
