Thank you. Your videos helped me fix a 200hr 50in deck mower that I bought for 200 dollars as it was "broken" it just needed a new belt and one 15 dollar pulley.
I had replaced mine years ago and didnt realize how many versions of this tractor there were. I spent 6 hours yesterday trying to fit the 954-04207 belt on. That one they sold me was wrong for our version. It is only 79 inches. The belt you show, 954-04297 is 85 and must be the right one.
@@LonnieJohnson1 I did it! THANK YOU!! Im a 56 yr old overweight woman and I got my butt on the garage floor and did it! I had an impact tool to get PTO off. Luckily that front pulley pulled down unlike other videos I saw. Your video helped tremendously for the fan pulley because that bolt was wedged on there hard with little room to work. The hardest part of all was getting the PTO lined back up and back on because it was heavy and awkward! It was slow going and I was nervous jacking up the tractor and messing with the battery. I took forever because I had to keep going back to videos to be sure I was doing it right and safe. Hope it doesn’t need replaced for a LONG time but I think Ill cut my repair time in 1/2 next time. 😂
This was the exact information that I have been looking for. Of course my 1050 has to be a little different....Where you have a 10mm bolt holding the back pulley, I have a 19mm nylock nut. Complicated by the fact that my fan was broken and I had no idea exactly what I was looking down at. Once I get that nut off, I will investigate everything else in the driveline to see what else is different. Thanks tons.
Hey Lonnie, I have a ltx 1046 kw and the drive belt shredded, I went to lowes and tractor supply, and bought two different belts. I'm still coming up short on the pulley at the clutch.
here in VIRGINIA 94 DOLLARS an hour to work on a lawnmower and only 2 shops so with you tubes help I am managing these things myself . 60 dollars to pick up mower and deliver it back to you Over 3 acres and 2 cubbies , 1 is 42 inch and other one I just bought is a 46 inch . Hate to say this but sorry I sold my 2018 troy belt mower it was much easier to repair but only 2 deck wheels and my front yard slopes down a hill so 4 deck wheels are better and love the cloth seat no slipping and sliding off the seat , plus better adjustment for seat since I am only 5 ft 2 inchs tall .The tank on the axle is confusing nothing in my parts book about it . I have grease fittings on my tires , could this be some kind of transmission fluid tank . I know the mower has been making a funny noise from the rear
This is a great video - I've just about got the new belt on. Here are my notes: you can stop the pto shaft from spinning by removing the plastic shroud on top of the engine and bracing the large gear - it has a receiver hole in it and I made a little tool out of rebar which butts up against a mount and doesn't cause any damage to the gears. Also, I can't figure out how to get my mower into "gear" to stop the transmission fan from spinning. I messed with the linkages, held down the gas pedal, everything I could do but it still spins freely - maybe something to do with it being hydrostatic? Anyway I was able to get a set of vice grips on the pulley mounted below the fan, and brace it against one of the belt guides. Got the nut off with a 3/4" deep socket on my impact driver. Front pulley is seized to shaft and can't be removed, so I grabbed a bottle jack, undid the 4 bolts holding the motor to the tractor, and carefully jacked the motor up (bottle jack on the pto shaft, shimming as I go) until I could slip the belt off the pulley. Thanks for your video Lonnie - I think these mowers were designed by demented sadists!
Had exact same issue with front and rear Pulley and came to almost identical solution. My rear pulley was also secured on by a large 3/4” bolt that didn’t want to come free. These are great notes to add because holding the pulleys from moving is a big trick.
Thanks...I used an impact but if you don't have one you can take the spark plug out and put some large diameter rope down in the spark plug hole making sure it's hanging out the hole and it should stop the engine from turning or the belt on the clutch can also be tightened to keep the clutch from turning.
@@LonnieJohnson1 I put a pipe wrench on the shaft of the pulley and a socket wrench with a pipe to break it loose. My impact gunpoint budget it. I prefer this method of the rope method which can bend valves :(
Do you happen to have a video covering an LT 1050 - 50" deck with the Kohler Courage 23 HP? That mower has a different rear qtr panel configuration and the battery is not under the seat. It appears to be a solid tray instead.
You have any videos on replacing deck belts ? I have the belt diagram I’ve replaced pulleys and spindles basically rebuilt the deck , but some reason my belts pop off every other time I cut the grass
I have videos on a Cub 2100 and 2518 but not sure if there the same configuration but you can take a look. I have them in a playlist called Cub Cadet to make it easy to find or just go to my channel.
Lonnie ...Nicely done !!! I am about to get the new belt in the mail and I am concerned about getting this back together. Your video was VERY GOOD...only question I have is regarding the pulley under the engine. I'm assuming with the PTO off, this pulley will drop down enough to put the belt on ...or did I miss something. When I took this apart, I had a tough time getting the PTO off with the engine turning as I tried to break the PTO loose) ( the belt had torn off at this time and was was no longer anything left on this pulley). I finally wedged the pulley in place with a long screwdriver and was able to break the 5/8 bolt on the PTO loose. NONETHELESS you've still shown me some steps I hadn't thought about . Like, pulling the fan off the HYDRO drive ( I know I would have done this wrong!) and the little 3/8 bolt to loosen to get the belt in place. ALL VERY VERY USEFUL INFO ...Thank you, Thank you , Thank you !!!
Thank you, and yes you should be able to lower the pulley after removing the bolt. However, The PTO belt should have a tension idler pulley in order to help remove the belt. You can also pull out one of the spark plugs and feed a bunch of rope down in the cylinder to keep the crank from turning when you break the bolt loose and when you tighten it back up.
How to you get the fan bolt off without everything turning? Channel locks on the pulley ok? For the front pulley, if you take the three Torx bits off the grill on top, you can use a wrench on top to apply counter-force and break the bolt on the PTO clutch from below. Takes two people, but it's very easy.
Awesome video. I just teplaced my belt about 16 months ago and have to do it again. Any ideas what would cause it to pop off the pulleys? Very frustrating that it was fine for about 10 years and had to replace a broken fan from the belt jumping the pulley (this time from a stick getting jammed up there). Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks! If you have a bad pulley that gets hot and freezes up that will do it. Turn each pulley by hand and see what it sounds like. They should be smooth and quite.
Put the belt around the pulley and squeeze it tight and use an impact if you have one, if not you should be able to get it loose with a ratchet and socket.
how do u take the front side pulley off with no belt it keeps spinning when I try to take the nut off. I tried holding the spindle for the pulley but can't
How did you remove the bolt at the center of the clutch without spinning the shaft the runs to the motor? Did you use a impact wrench? The bolt spins freely turning the motor shaft.
I had it off before I realized it was going to take some work so then I decided to make a video of how to install the drive belt. With the PTO just take the bolt half way off then unplug the wire and take off the bracket. Now hold the PTO while you take the bolt out.
