What a fun video :-) It was wonderful to see all the looks you created with one dress, Marie-Anne! This was a great lesson on the value of being creative and looking at what's already in your closet with fresh eyes. I also appreciate the advice to keep trying different pieces together. Now, before I remove any tags I try a new piece on with everything I'd imagined it would work with in my closet. If it doesn't make at least 3 "wow" outfits - and more is better - then I ask myself why I should keep it. This practice has saved me money and closet space and has helped me with my goal of building a wardrobe that I love as much as you love yours!
Aha! That last one really was a oui, for me. Before that, when it was a dress, I could only picture a solid black sandal or open-toe. I didn’t like the dress with belts at all. The lavalier was FUN!
Yes! I also tie belts in the back, it takes the look from frumpy housecoat/housedress to a more streamlined and pared down appearance. I am also rectangular shaped (as well as long waisted) and find this is the best way to softly slim and define the silhouette without cutting yourself in two at the middle. I even do it with belted coats since belt loops are often placed too high for my lower waistline. I definitely find that florals are difficult to accessorize; the black cami was better than the white lace by far, and if you can wear the dress into the fall I think a pair of plum suede boots to match the darker pink tone in the dress would look amazing, especially with the leather jacket.
I really enjoyed this video and all the ideas you created with that lovely dress. One big thing I have learned from you is to say 'non' to anything which really doesn't do it for me. Before watching your videos I would buy or order clothes and if they weren't quite what I wanted I would keep them anyway in the hope of finding a way of wearing them. Not any more! If something isn't quite the right colour, not the right fit, not the right quality or fabric, it goes back to the shop - in pristine condition of course. If it's not a wow it's a non for me. And this is helping me to transform my style. xx
4:04 I like it open with a little black tank top, and the belt in black. I also like the 1 inch wider belt. For the narrow one. I love the rose 🌹 and a little bit on buttons for the leg.
Last year I travelled in Northern Macedonia and Greece. It was incredibly hot. I had packed two floral dresses as part of my holiday wardrobe. Wore them so much. Also received so many lovely comments. (One green, one red.) They could be dressed up for evening or for the day with sandals and sunglasses. So easy to wash and dry. I'd never go on a summer holiday without at least one similar dress.
I really enjoy it when you show different shoes or belts with the same outfit. It lets me see how different shoes change an outfit. I feel as though i really have most accessories down except belts. I only own 3 belts, so there isn't much "try different belts" for me. It isn't that i dislike belts, but my go-to accessories are silk scarves then shoes then hats. Your lariat is really playful. I haven't seen anything like it. I would definitely keep the flower off to the side. It's going to draw attention and if it's under your chin with the v-neck then it will point to the area you covered with the camisole. Just my openion.
I liv how you transform the dress into a sweater/skirt combo (only I would add a bright colored belt to the sweater.) Also, the duster over a black outfit is a WOW WOW WOW. Very ideas and inspirations.
I didn't like the flower necktie thing, especially for spring/summer. I think some delicate jewelry would look better. I agree with your choice of the black skinny belt and I loved the last combination, wearing the dress over the outfit- very unexpected and chic! ❤
I agree. Actually, I've never liked the neck flower thing. It seems to popular in England, but to me it looks costume-y in a turn of the century trollop kind of way. Not in the least chic. Quite the opposite.
This was an excellent exercise to show what works and what doesn’t. Loved the great tips. My favorite look was with the black flower at the neck. It was a “wow” for me.
it was a perfectly simple way to add an edge of 1920s decadent glamour to your appearance.. it’s amazing , because the rose as just a chocker necklace would have given a more staid Victorian look, but with the long tails looped at the bottom of the v -neck it gave you additional individual style .. excellent for an avant-garde affair .. otherwise I didn’t really like any black additions, too deadening.. though great as a duster ..
@@didreams969 the flower worked because she has short hair. Don't get me wrong it was lovely on her but I can't imagine it on one having shoulder length hair.
Loved the dress over the black tank and black trousers. Also loved the motto jacket over the dress but I would put those black strappy sandals(the ones you had on with the trousers) with the motto jacket/dress combo. Great video, Marie-Anne!😍
Good evening Marie-Anne! My favorite was the last style wearing the dress as a long layer over the monochromatic black top and pants with the skinny strap sandals. You looked fabulous and happy! 💕
I got a black full sequin wrap dress which I hate cos it's too heavy n hot. Am thinking if I could use it as a coat instead. We are in Malaysia so it's always hot.
✨️ Marie-Ann: Excellent Exercise ✨️. You are indeed an impressive 👑French Style Queen. Thanks so much for taking a deeper dive 🤿 into this bold floral Uniglo dress. 😉 I'm afraid I was rather dismissive about the crazy, busy print😵💫. Your thoughtful & thorough video analysis has 💯% convinced me to reconsider all the transforming possibilities. Without a doubt, I sold it short. ✍️Took copious notes, so I can remember to try your smart suggestions to see which combo will suit in different circumstances. 🤫Not sure I realized it was completely button front. In future, I think this silhouette will be at the top of my wish list for dresses & skirts 🛒. This feature offers such added versatilty👏🏻. 😊Could totally see it w/a lightweight black jumper knotted & cropped over the top turning it into a skirt. Also, as a light topper fully open over a shorter black base (like a tank style dress or a tee & pencil skirt). It could even be partially closed & belted at the waist in a fit & flare fashion over a black tank top & bike shorts for a flirty feminine sporty vibe. In chilly weather, I could even see it as a topper layer over a black LS catsuit & black thigh high boots for a 🎸music concert. In all these cases, the 🎀sash can be used to gather the excess dress volume in the back too. Thx for this redirect! 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
The dress has such pretty colors. I like the lavalliere scarf. (I didn’t know that term) Very pretty! My favorites were the sweater/skirt and the long open duster style. It was very interesting to see how the dress changed with different belts, shoes, layering and unbuttoning. This is very helpful, especially if you have a piece that is on the verge of being frumpy. You are an excellent teacher Marie-Anne! Most of us learn by doing. At least I do!
My favorite w/the dress was the black tank underneath, the black and tan cap toe heels, the thin black belt and the blazer! So sharp together to UNfrump the dress. Enjoyed watching that. I agreed with you on every opinion you had re: accessories.
Dear Marie-Anne, Many thanks for all the information. You have changed my outlook on life and clothes. Your book is always in my bag. More tips are expected. With warm greetings🍃🌿🍀
Oh Marie-Anne, I love your style! The dress with the black and tan heels, black tank, belt, and blazer was my favorite. And the open dress over the black top and slacks was a revelation. When we were younger it was easy to look good. Thank you so much for showing us how to be continue to be chic and keep our style interesting, elegant and fun.
This type of video is my favorite. Watching you develop an outfit is informative & fun! I must be learning something from you because I agreed with every choice you made. 😊
Thanks for the video, it was useful and entertaining 😊 My favourite were with the leather jacket and as a skirt. As I hobby sewist, I would definitely cut this dress shorter, about knee length.
I like it with the blazer and with the black sweater and cap toe flats. Thank you for showing options with flat shoes. I never wear heels and always felt that I could never be stylish or elegant without heels.
The tank in black, the flower neck tie and strappy black heeled sandals, but no belt. The channel heels are nice, too. The trick with black in summer is to show enough skin, so it's not too oppressive.😊
Just reading all the comments goes to show how we all have such a wide variety of tastes, for me it was the wide belt and the blazer, plus I really did love the pink square toe shoes, you give us all plenty of ideas. Thank you Marie-Anne
I am enjoying this video Marie-Anne. I love the way you change your attitude each time! Acting is so important when we set out into the world in our carefully curated outfits!
My favorite is the dress with the scarf with the flower to the side of the neck, but I would not wear it with a belt in that case, because I think the belt breaks the line of the scarf hanging down. And with that I would wear the Chanel type pumps. And I would add several delicate fine scale bracelets with a little bling. Lovely!
I went to several of the links and as far as I am concerned, the pieces look better on you than on the models. You have such an eye for what to combine and how to style, as well as an innately elegant look.
Bonjour Marie-Anne, Once again you've shared your wonderful and effective tips for transforming mumsy into WOW! Attitude is so important and you exude confidence in such a fun way. Now I want to swish around in a pretty floral dress. The lavalier is such a unique touch - perfect for evening, I would think. I loved the contrast of the feminine dress and the black leather jacket - a bit edgy and very va-va-voom! You're a star!
Oh I love the colours, Marie-Anne! You are getting like me! I so actually like the pink or orange shoes with that dress. I also really like your idea of wearing the motorcycle jacket with it, too. It’s a sexy, edgy combination. I really like the dress as a duster, too.
That was the best video of yours I've seen so far. Loved it! Thank you! The thing you demonstrated especially well here was how you carry yourself transforms how you look in an outfit. Very helpful!
I love the dress with the black tank, jacket, belt, and Channel-inspired shoes. I do not own a lavallière, but yes, very unique and stylish. After graduating from university for the first time, I worked for Union Pacific Railroad in operations. The rule of thumb for managing train crews was never to burn the good ones. Good ones have great attitudes and work ethics. I would rather work with someone who was not quick to understand and perform but had a great attitude than someone who excelled but had the wrong attitude. I think the same in dressing and everything. I was told as a dancer that the best way to cover mistakes is to smile throughout the dance. Very true. The dress came alive with your fun personality. Now I have a different opinion of all floral dresses!
Marie-Anne, i've admired your videos on the occasions i watch. You have a unique vibrancy and unpretentiousness. This video is a knock out in my opinion. You exemplify confidence, crestivity, being chic with what you have, (or potential purchases that offer options for other base pieces too). I like all the additions you made to the plain and prehaps a bit dated dress - you bring it back to life with stylish grace. Thank you for the inspiration and fun you bring!
I love your energy and your positive attitude, Marie Anne! Thank you for your inspiring videos. They help keep my 40-something mom frumpiness in check. :) I wanted to let you know something about the video format. For some reason recently, I cannot make your videos go to full screen on my phone. It may be a problem on my part. Not sure if others are having the same issue. I want to see as many details as possible with your styling! Thank you!
❤❤❤ the last look best - TOTALLY my style and I'd wear it in a heartbeat. But as a dress, I think the Chanel flats look best with it. Love your modeling different looks and demonstrating how the same dress can look so different. Thanks for all your ideas. Love your channel!
I wasn’t convinced by the slim black belt but worn with the black cami it looks good. Loving you talking us through this outfit and your ideas. It’s what I do but it’s nice to feel I have company!
I liked the pink belt. Brought it to life. I have a big bust and am short. I got a beautiful red chiffon dress with a higher waist than advertised. I looked matronly. After I straightened the side seams which had been curving into the armpits, I still had a big bust. But it was no longer the center of attention and the straighter lines of the bodice allowed it to flow into the chiffon A-line skirt. You are so right.
I like that you take us through your thought process when you are accessorizing an outfit, so we understand the logic in practice. But since watching your masterclasses and videos and considering my lifestyle and having decluttered a couple of times, I have purchased very few dresses during this period. Those I have bought have been solid color except for the Ralph Lauren blue and white gingham. Since I don’t have many occasions to wear dresses, I don’t really think about them much. The Moto jacket or blazer version is something I would wear realistically. Wearing the dress as a duster is a look I would need to test drive. Thank you for the great video.
I love the dress. I have one very similar in olive green with a flower pattern. It looks nice on its own, but did suit the black top underneath and the slim belt. I liked the nude ballet flats with the dress.
Some great looks here! I especially like the dress as a outer piece with the black slacks. But no matter what I do with it, I would hem it about 1 1/2 to 2 inches so it doesnt hit your calves at the widest point.
You are an inspiration Marie-Anne. I liked this dress from your Uniqlo video but the different ways you styled it was great. Not keen on flats with it or the flower thing though. I would wear tnis dress all year round except perhaps the height of summer. Loved this video. Thank you x
Dress is beautiful and beautiful on you! I love the cap toe heels with it, especially for spring and fall. What about a pair of wedge espadrilles for summer? Maybe add a straw hat? Love the black sweater over it for cooler days/evenings. Video gives such great suggestions on how to make a dress really work in so many ways! Merci!
I like how you walk us through the different options and effects. And how you don't know everything better but explain. Those young girls lecturing me on what is "much better" but considering only their body type, preferences and late trends often leave me confused cause often I don't think it's looks better and it's adaptable for me in terms of practicability and so on. 9:33
It looked the best with the black trousers and shirt combination. Not a friend of these kind of dresses. It is the floral print in rather bold colours and small blossoms galore what is not to my liking. Reminds me on a typical print for long sleeveless aprons cleaning ladies and every grandmother used to wear. Sadly there is no English term for these kind of aprons, guess they are typical German, called Kittelschürze. The small prints are there to camouflage any traces of dirt on the apron..No offence, but that is what came to my mind.
I actually didn’t care for this dress. But you made it pretty with all your ideas on Accessorizing it. I love your pink shoes. I agree they didn’t match. I like the wide black belt. I live in California so it is too hot now for jackets or sweaters. My favorite look is the last one with the dress used as a duster. That was beautiful. The two tone sling back and the flats are my favorite. I am glad you did this video. I now like your dress. 😊❤
Hi Marie-Anne That dress is so fun. I loved black tank top with a couple of buttons undone, very classy. If the pink belt if would have fit you, paired with pink shoes(wow) and the rosette at thClassy. My favorite is the black pants with top. Using the dress as an over garment is very smart. The sweater over the dress for winter with solid black shoe:yes ❤️❤️❤️ wonderful ideas for lots of looks Merci...
So many things that can make a difference in an outfit but without the knowledge and the curiosity people end up giving up. Here people stick to what they saw in the store and never dare trying out different combinations. This video is an eye opener Marie-Anne and must be shared. And as usual you brought memories of my granny. When she saw a very attractive man she used to whisper in my ear: -Tiene un je ne sais quoi de perversidad- Because for her the perfect man had to be well educated, smart and funny but with a necessary pinch of naughtiness. The same applies for outfits. Chic, elegant but casual, with an element that made it really you and a touch of sex appeal but very discrete. I simply adore your videos!
Wow, that last one with the open dress and the black column underneath was a surprise. I love it.
It's the attitude. No matter what you wear Marie-Anne, it's your attitude that makes the outfit perfect. You rock.
It’s quite amazing how you transformed a rather uninspiring dress. I think I need to start playing dress up again with the clothes I have.
I like the duster look very much. I think the dress with the moto jacket and boots would look fabulous in the fall.
I love the black leather jacket with the dress. It’s so unexpected, fresh and youthful.
Like the dress without the neck wear but loved it when you added the blazer.
I loved the last outfit ..definitely not frumpy 👏👏
Compliments for this video!
Do you know, what I found especially surprising? And also very convincing!....:
Point one.
Absolutely right. The posture and the way a woman walks... So important.

You are very welcome Linda x

And this is helping me to transform my style. xx
Leather bomber. Perfection. Or white cami with ballet flats. Best part was the dancing! Lord, you are just a cutie. Thank you! Big USA hug. ❤🇺🇸
4:04 I like it open with a little black tank top, and the belt in black. I also like the 1 inch wider belt. For the narrow one. I love the rose 🌹 and a little bit on buttons for the leg.

Wow! I loved all the transformations, but the last one was mind-blowing.
I too thought the dress looked frumpy till the last outfit....You nailed it Marie-Anne!!
Brilliant. You really explain your thought process. And you’ve shown how small things can make a big difference.
I liv how you transform the dress into a sweater/skirt combo (only I would add a bright colored belt to the sweater.) Also, the duster over a black outfit is a WOW WOW WOW. Very ideas and inspirations.
Wonderful video, thanks! My favourite was the last outfit, with the dress open over the back top and trousers.
I was a bit surprised by the choice of this dress. I’m glad you made this video.
The dress as a third layer over pants or even buttoned to the waist and left open over pants us a really chic look and one I am going to try.
Loved the dress over the black tank and slacks!!! Hugs
I love love love the last change.
My vote is for the final outfit, and is the only way I would personally wear a dress.
Oh yes the flower very french. A wider belt perhaps. Leather jacket lovely. Oh and some attitude 😂
Thank you for all your hard work and efforts in making your videos. I learn so much from you.

I thought the dress was not nice, but you saved the day, by the way you styled it at the end, total 180, loved it! Thank you
This is a fun video of experimenting with a dress. Lots of ideas...

The flower choker adds detail to the dress.
Fashionable as always! Great attitude and style. So sassy😊
I love the flower scarf
I like the blazer add-on the best. I love the way you take the time to test out each accessory and share your honesty about each look.
You are a rock star with attitude!
LOVE the idea of wearing the dressas a long cardigan. Genius. I wish I'd seen this before I gave some under-used dresses of mine to charity.
Good evening Marie-Anne! My favorite was the last style wearing the dress as a long layer over the monochromatic black top and pants with the skinny strap sandals. You looked fabulous and happy! 💕

Lovely!
Looks nice with th sweater too. Not crazy about wearing it as a long jacket though.
You always look so pretty 🌷
Love the duster effect with black pants and top. Fun earrings would work too. Thank you.

I love your ways/ chic! so fun!!
Thank you
❤❤❤ the last look best - TOTALLY my style and I'd wear it in a heartbeat. But as a dress, I think the Chanel flats look best with it. Love your modeling different looks and demonstrating how the same dress can look so different. Thanks for all your ideas. Love your channel!
😘
I love the dress styled with that black leather jacket, Marie Anne!
I wasn’t convinced by the slim black belt but worn with the black cami it looks good. Loving you talking us through this outfit and your ideas. It’s what I do but it’s nice to feel I have company!
Glad I am not the only one Victoria 😃
I liked the pink belt. Brought it to life.
I have a big bust and am short. I got a beautiful red chiffon dress with a higher waist than advertised. I looked matronly. After I straightened the side seams which had been curving into the armpits, I still had a big bust. But it was no longer the center of attention and the straighter lines of the bodice allowed it to flow into the chiffon A-line skirt. You are so right.
Such a helpful video. Just the way you try things. I really liked the leather jacket with the dress...edgy. Thank you as always.
I have the green version of that dress. Super comfortable. I love it so much.
Very funny ! I love your little screams 😂😂. Anyway very good look ideas!!!
Very helpful and inspiring!
I love this dress!!! Look 5 with leather jacket and Channel style shoes and last look chic 👍👍👍
More ideas like this please! Ty❤
Thank you for the deep dive into fashion eclecticism. 💋

Hi Marie-Anne
That dress is so fun. I loved black tank top with a couple of buttons undone, very classy.
If the pink belt if would have fit you, paired with pink shoes(wow) and the rosette at thClassy.
My favorite is the black pants with top. Using the dress as an over garment is very smart.
The sweater over the dress for winter with solid black shoe:yes
❤️❤️❤️ wonderful ideas for lots of looks
Merci...
So many things that can make a difference in an outfit but without the knowledge and the curiosity people end up giving up.
Here people stick to what they saw in the store and never dare trying out different combinations. This video is an eye opener Marie-Anne and must be shared.
And as usual you brought memories of my granny. When she saw a very attractive man she used to whisper in my ear: -Tiene un je ne sais quoi de perversidad-
Because for her the perfect man had to be well educated, smart and funny but with a necessary pinch of naughtiness.
The same applies for outfits. Chic, elegant but casual, with an element that made it really you and a touch of sex appeal but very discrete.
I simply adore your videos!
I love this Video, especially step 9! Amazing! I love the black scarf with the flower on you!
