I have a white blazer that i realized i did not wear that much. After taking a good look, it dawned on me that the dark tortoise colored buttons was the turn off. I bought some beautiful white pearl buttons and sewed them on. This change really elevated the blazer to a much classier level. I wear it all the time. My favorite pairing is with a pair of white jeans, taupe flats and a beautiful scarf with different shaded of blue. Or my black and white skirt. This inspired me to look at several of my older blazers and change out the buttons on them. ❤
My Mom taught me this decades ago, and I still do it all the time. Buttons can make or break a look🙂
@DC: As a 'hobby sewer' learned many years ago that buttons can be the jewelry of a garment.
Absolutely agree, buttons can change everything. They instantly can make garment look better or worse.
If I don’t like buttons on my clothing, I change them without hesitation.

The big overshirt look works because you’re wearing a fairly fitted top and bottom underneath and we can see your waistline. Wearing a long shirt buttoned up and hanging out just makes a big, square shape.
Summer is meant for white pants.
Not necessarily for formal/evening wear

I love all the outfits. In Outfit 1 when you switched to the black blazer, it instantly did something spectacular for you. It lifted you to another level. Just gorgeous.
I agree but I prefer the Chanel style for a special occasion.
Outfit 3---I agree with the practicality of wearing a sweater draped over the shoulders. It looks nice and comes in handy for cool evenings. Just FYI, this look is called "preppy" in the US and has been around for decades---mostly worn that way by men rather than women. Some think it's old-fashioned and it's also associated with a certain upper-class East Coast elitism and other negative connotations. I think it's time to retire those perceptions and embrace it. There's that blue and white striped shirt again, and it's always going to be a YES for me! I love how you wear different items over and over again, styling them another way, and it looks like a new outfit. I'd like MarieAnne to do a video on patterns and how they can overwhelm smaller women and how smaller patterns may not work on larger ones. That shirt is great but I'd be lost in it.

I love the way you paired the white basic with beautiful jackets, that made it refreshing. I have seen too many all white outfits on TH-cam that make me think white head to toe has been overdone. Marie-Anne, you are so correct! I think we all forget how elegant white is. I also love white and brown trim hand bags and shoes together with a white outfit. There are a more pricey handbag lines, that always has leather bags in white trimmed in brown leather in their Spring/Summer Collections. Just love that color combination. I love your linen pants. They don’t look like they are high-rise. They look like they might be midrise and they’re really cute. I love your striped blouse with those linen pants. And the trousers with the light blue stripes and the cashmere sweater is very cute. We are going to Las Vegas for my 75th birthday on May 1st and these look like they would be cool and classy. I'd always admire women who wear white but thought I couldn't. Last summer I bought a pair of white jeans and they quickly became my favorite as I felt so elegant when I wore them. I haven't pulled them out yet for this season, any time now.

I’m a 50 year old office worker and I get sick of my old and tired wardrobe. These ideas are so simple. I love them.
White makes an outfit look elegant because you have to have confidence to wear it! It’s the confidence that is elegant as much as the outfit. I would never wear white trousers because I’d be sure to sit down on a dirty bench or accidentally rub against something, or I’d be terrified of unexpectedly starting my period. White tops are slightly easier, but you still have to make sure you don’t choose the spaghetti bolognaise at the restaurant, and avoid small children with sticky hands!
I'm right there with you, in every point! I recently bought a white blazer, but it's a sturdy knit and it's washable. I don't see myself wearing light-colored pants outside of the house ever again, for the very reasons you stated.

As an equestrian yourself , I'm sure you understand my life long love / hate relationship w /white breeches - the look is beautifully classic but the dirt , horse hair , grooming products , etc. always made me question the sanity of wearing white at horse shows , of all places ! 😂

Thank you, Marie-Anne. I feel that I look better in slightly off white than stark white. But yes, I've noticed that it lifts my face if I wear white/winter white/off white near it. I had a white blazer, which I must look out and wear for the spring (assuming it still fits); and I have a white polo neck top that I've been wearing under other things for the winter, which I think looks rather good. Also black and cream is a good option, I always think.

I have an hourglass figure but am a bit heavier on the bottom so I always wear dark coloured skirts or trousers. Those white pants look so fresh though I may have to try a pair!

As a German Shepherd mom, white is off limits. So is black. German Shepherd undercoat sticks to everything and showd regardlesd of color 😊

All the outfits look nice on you. Personally though I'm uncomfortable wearing camisoles unless they're under a sweater. It's just me. So I would probably substitute a thin short sleeved sweater under the jackets.

I wear white quite often because it’s a better shade for my skin tone than cream/ivory/off-white. However, I’ve never been a fan of wearing two “white” shades together, e.g. a white shirt with an off-white jacket. Nothing “wrong “ about it; it’s just matter of personal taste. To my eyes at least, that combination makes one or the other item look slightly grubby. I do wear a darker shade of a neutral with white. In the summer, for example, the combo of white jeans, a white top, and a medium beige (café au lait) linen jacket is a go-to outfit.

When I went on Saturday's evening to a party with my chorus, I wore an of-white cashmere sweater, an off white sleeveless quilted jacket together with Black flared trousers and black winter boots. I added a little silk scarf in green, off white and black colours. I wore a black warm down coat and a grey wool scarf, but only outside of the room, of course, and I had taken with me my ivory coloured handbag.

I love the white tailored shirt, or the white embroidered shirt, or a white shirt with a ruffle detail that makes it look like a cotton jacket. I have always loved black and white, but to avoid looking like a staff member in hospitality, I add heels to my black skirt and white shirt with a silk scarf or pearls. The red jacket looked fabulous, I only have red sweaters and a closet of white, navy, black, and cream jackets. I do not have white pants, but after this video, I am on the lookout for white skirts. The blue and white stripe with white looks very attractive.
White is a favorite specially in summer i wear it all the time, most of my silk veils are white, i always take your advice on style and add my veil to it. I have white trousers, striped blue shirt, navy breton shirts, everytime i find something you advise i buy it❤.

Outfit 2 is something I'd wear- I have light pink stappy heels (when I can wear them) that match my little handbag that I would wear white bottom and top with a pink linen shirt a slightly darker shade to my accessories. I choose navy over black because black is not my colour. Outfit 3 totally me! I think I dress like a French lady without knowing it😂

Dear Marianne, all outfits are classy, classic and trendy right now, which is an interesting, if not unique combination of the moment. I also liked the way you looked in the red jacket as your complexion looked at its best having brightened up .
Coming back to white and ivory blazers, they are tres chic, mais not very practical especially in our polluted cities or on business. I have an ivory robe-manteau with tuxedo lapels and hesitate to wear it for this main reason.It's lovely but going out for dinner at a posh restaurant and spilling red wine on it would utterly spoil my night...😅

White and cream or white and beige always look classy to me, but white is outside my comfort zone. I always feel big when I wear white, so I avoid it.
However, I am going to challenge myself and get white jeans soon. I appreciate being pushed a little bit by your suggestions.
For example, after seeing you in cute nude sandals, I bought a pair. I had only worn dark shoes before, including sandals. My feet are huge (size 11), so I always want to wear dark colors thinking it will make my feet look smaller. Not true. The dark sandals against my white feet did me no favors.
It only took a few times wearing the nude sandals before I was completely comfortable in them. Now I have made them my own. Thank you!

I love the different looks you created with the white column of color in outfit #2. Changing the jacket, shirt, etc gives it a whole new look. I can do this when I go on vacation so I won't take so much clothes. Also, I never considered pairing different shades of cream with the white. Looks very chic. Another superb video!! Thanks

I was hoping the color would be white and all its variations. White trousers and white jeans are the bedrock of my summer wardrobe, and they elevate everything. These videos when you grab different jackets, shirts, and sweaters and then put the most amazing outfits together are so inspiring. Merci beaucoup!
I like linen/rayon blend shirts, they’re cooler, more breathable and more wrinkle-resistant than cotton. Rails used to make some nice ones, but I haven’t looked this season.
I always thought black was most elegant, but white looks like a refreshing alternative that goes with everything. However ivory and most off whites are too yellowlsh for my complexion. I used to work in framing and choosing mat colours for artwork so I know a bit about off white. The number of off white hues our eyes can distinguish from each other is rather mind boggling. However true, pure white is more uncommon and expensive to produce because it requires so much bleaching. I like true white but don't come across it very often these days, and maybe the bleaching process isn't great for the environment. Perhaps a very pale shade of grey is my best white, if that counts as white.
