That knot works better when you put the ½ hitches on the other side of the first knot, going towards the cut end of the cable. Then work the tape down from the cut end of the cable towards your first knot, pulling the string with it. Once you get to your first knot, fold the string back up to where the taping started, and then run the tape back up towards it... At the top, clean it all up, making sure that there are no rough areas. The only way that you will lose that cable is if the string breaks.
If you had shot this horizontally I would easily be able to see the whole thing. Your subject is horizontal, why would you frame it vertically. Besides the fact that videos should never be shot vertically anyway.
