Cable Pulling Knot Rolling Bend v2
Tip for connecting pull string to cable.
After nearly 12,000 views of my crappy video I thought it would be worth it to make a higher quality version. I hope this is helpful to you!

Replacing OSX NetInstall with bsdpy on Ubuntu 18 LTS

Video to detail the process of replacing MacOS Server app's NetInstall service with the open source bsdpy. Configuring Ubuntu 18 netplan networking with Docker. It's a little long and I didn't edit so you can possibly see some potential hangups. Thank you! I had a huge problem with pushing a nylon guide through the pipe. finally got it through after lubing it.... Didn't want to risk losing the cable midway, so I found this video and used this knot with a strong thin chord.... THANK YOU, SIR! I will remember this trick for a long time
Thank you great clear instructions 👍👍😊
Cheers mate great set of knots 👍😂
Thanks. This worked perfectly.

Thanks a million. Makes life easier for solo installer
I'm having an issue. When I run the startup script, it informs be that port 67 is already taken. I managed to find out that it's taken by systemd-resolve. Not systemd-resolved, which seems to be a different thing. I have no idea how to proceed. Do you by any chance?
Thank you for the video. Just a quick question: for Catalina or Big Sur, what tools or software you can used to create the nbi folders ? I've tried Casper NetInstall Image and it always ends withan error
worked great
Thank you for making this video, it was super helpful. By chance have you installed linux distros on Apple clients using this method?
Didn't know a clove hitch and a few half hitches is called a knot rolling bend. Generally use this method for pulling multiple cables with the ends staggered thru the knot such that there's a tapered end facing direction of the pull. Never thought to use a clove hitch to start the knot, had always used a bunch of half hitches
Way to go Joe.what are you making?
I usually just use a crap ton of electrical tape. This is much more elegant ty.
Awesome tutorial on that knot! We just pulled six PV10 wires through a 200 foot underground 1-1/2 inch PVC pipe. Used some cable lube to help out the pull. The knot is great! Thank-you!
Someone showed me a not a long time ago for doing this and I forgot exactly how to do it and this was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Neat. Been using this knot for years and never knew it was a actual knot.
I used this with a ratchet strap on a segment of sewage pipe that I needed to pull out of some dense clay underneath a house, attaching the hook end to my truck frame. Worked fantastic, thanks so much!
Thanks for this. I don't know how many times the old guys at the job have tried to show me this, and I could never picked it up till this video. 👍🏽
Thanks, this worked great! Broke two different pull strings before I got it done. Like you said, the knot wasn't the weak point.
This is a very helpful knot. Thanks for sharing.
This is an incredible demonstration for electricians. Pulling wire with this methods saves us a lot of problems. Saves it so i can show the apprentices, thanks!
This was exactly what I needed to run a new ethernet cable, thanks!
Is the Ubuntu version Server or Desktop?
Mart Levitt server
That knot works better when you put the ½ hitches on the other side of the first knot, going towards the cut end of the cable. Then work the tape down from the cut end of the cable towards your first knot, pulling the string with it. Once you get to your first knot, fold the string back up to where the taping started, and then run the tape back up towards it... At the top, clean it all up, making sure that there are no rough areas. The only way that you will lose that cable is if the string breaks.
Thank you. The knots are good
I tried it
If you had shot this horizontally I would easily be able to see the whole thing. Your subject is horizontal, why would you frame it vertically. Besides the fact that videos should never be shot vertically anyway.
