The V90 is a gorgeous car, but you're not quite right about the old Volvos, there were some pretty desirable Volvo estates. They even raced 850 R estates in the BTCC, which was a pretty spectacular sight.
Just bought my V90 Momentum D5 (silver) after one came up for sale near me for a great price. Remembering your review I went ahead and cancelled a C Class Estate I’d put a deposit down on after test driving the Volvo. Great car and yes, find one with Pilot Assist! Thanks Matt. You give the best advice on the internet (IMHO). Clear, concise, considered and timely.
Since this comment. I have tested the new Volvo C40 recharge and Im blown away. Will get rid of my v90cc for an electric Volvo. But that will be in a couple years time. So nice and same interior since this car. Stunning to look at etc.
Mate literally looking at getting this exact car at the moment, also black! How has it been long term reliability wise, anything to watch out for when buying used?
@@benwills2240 i have a 2018 V90 CC D5, PowerPulse pipe will pop, 200 to replace with labour, but everything he has said about the V90 is very accurate.
I have a V60 with the Intellisafe, and I cant imagine living without it now. I do 50.000km per year (mainly motorway), so its a great comfort/safety feature. Just ordered a new one, this time a Hybrid with AWD. Great travelling car, up here in the Nordics.
@@MrUnknown2105 Well, my current model is a 2019 V60 Inscription T4 (190hp petrol) auto. It does around 8.4 L/100Km, when driving at typical motorway speeds of 135 - 140 Km/hour, and also some limited city driving. I wont say that the fuel economy impress me that much, but its the most comfortable and high quality feeling car, that I have even owned - including several other Volvos. Its also the most elegant looking estate on the market today, in my opinion. The hybrid Ive ordered is a T6, will be interresting to see how it "behaves".
I love this wagon's look. It's sleek and modern without being sporty or ostentatious. Many modern cars fail at this. They look too aggressive like the RX or a lot of BMWs. Many cars add unnecessary aggression to their styling to make their cars "standout" but all it does is make all cars look the same. For Volvo to approach their design language in their minimal Swedish way, they make their cars stand apart from everything else. I appreciate it's cabin too. Functional with plenty of luxury add-ons to make it a place you would want to eat miles in. The boot is as big as many crossovers but without the boring crossover shape. Big fan!
@@graham6771Seems just fine to me in these UK roads? Does absolutely everything I need, dirt track to the house, country roads and even smooth motorway travel. It's obvious not an inner city car yet I avoid those places like the plague so not a bother for me.
Every time I see a V90 I'm just blown away. They are simply some of the most beautiful cars on the road. They've even managed to make the Cross Country versions as nice as well. If I could get a V90 CC Inscription Plus... man would I be chuffed
I had one of these (Momentum D4) on lease for three years, when they first came out. Everything on it as standard. Recently, I went into hospital for some checkups and I joked with my crew that If I dropped dead then at least I'd enjoyed the Volvo. It is the most lovely, sophisticated, homely, silent car that I've ever driven. I had a brand new BMW 3.OL estate on loan whilst it went in for a small software fix, getting my V90 estate back was like those shots you see of people spotting their loved one in the crowd after an earthquake! Genuinely, a car you can fall in love with... and I miss her! JM
I hired one of these for a weekend a few years ago. Gearbox a bit sleepy and it doesn’t handle like a sports car, but magnificently smooth, quiet & comfy, and really good looking. I liked it a lot.
I have the D5 Cross Country. I chose the Cross Country as it comes with full leather rather than alcantara. I need wipe clean because it’s a workhorse. Polestar is a dealer applied remap which gives a few extra bhp but also optimises the easily confused gearbox. That said there’s been two dealer updates available on the gearbox this year alone. The Cross Country has taller section tyres so is even more comfortable. So comfortable that I’m always disappointed when I travel by Mercedes Chauffeur! The boot is less practical than my previous V70 due to the sloping glass but bigger. The Cross Country has a higher towing capacity than non CC AWD models. I bought mine on a whim but will without doubt replace it with another one.
Many years ago my parents had a Volvo 240GL and that car was nigh on impossible to kill and back in the 80's looked good. Still love em too today and tend to get a bit pointy on the rare occasion I see 1.
I’m on to my 2nd one now, I use my car as a van for work and it’s been superb. First was a 2019 D4 R Design, excellent on fuel on a run, followed a friend in a truck that was limited to 54mph home up the motorway, the Volvo kept dropping down from 8th to 7th gear on the cruise control but averaged an astonishing 84mpg over a 100 or so mile journey. Part-ex’d that for a 2022 B4 petrol R Design and its even better. Being the facelift, it gets the new Google based infotainment system, it’s taken 6 months for them to tweak it via over the air updates but it works brilliantly now. They’ve also refined the styling too, nice little touches like VW/Audi style sweeping indicators, animated tail lights etc. it’s by far the best car I’ve owned to date and it’s an absolute pleasure to work out of. Customers are always commenting how nice it looks.
I’ve had one of these the past 5 years, almost from new, and it’s by far the best car I’ve ever owned. Faultless, fast, quiet, comfortable and still looks great I think. Future classic.
Hi Matt, I have the Cross-country version. D4 and it is more than adequate. Volvo have come along way from the Amazons and 140's. My son gets upset if I hint at selling it. They are rare on the roads, which makes them an oddball I guess. I just love it.
Matt, I’ve just picked up a xc60 inscription 2019 what a car.So strong every panel gap is perfect, had two v40 and a c30 before that but a Sweden built xc60 is a bullet proof car.Got it from Sunderland Volvo one owner 6k miles and loads of toys, A very underrated car and a world away from the mark one , give one a try mate.
I had a 2011 C30 D4 until recently, a car I absolutely loved. Unfortunately, it was from the Ford ownership of Volvo era, and it was starting to fall apart at only 60k miles, spent about 4 grand on it over 2 years before I got rid. Whenever I see one in the street it still hurts.
When Volvo came out with their lineup including this I thought they were leaps ahead of all the other brands; the interiors absolutely blew me away and the advert was brilliant!
Hello Matt, nice car you have bought there. The Volvo 850 T5’s that I drove as a Police Officer in the Traffic Department were exceptional, so much better than the Rover 827’s that they replaced. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged
Even in a bonestock spec this car is extremely comfortable and runs like a dream + lasts forever. My dad bought a 2018 pretty much bonestock v90 with the D3 and it really is a remarkable car, it's almost *TOO* comfortable to drive, dead quiet and just glides on the roads. Bumps and imperfections in the roads are barely noticeable in this car. I myself am looking for a v90 too since they have come down in price a ton as of late.
I drive D5+Polestar (241PS) and its good. Gearbox make the job better in the Polestar mode. Aircon performance is not great. When we have over 33C it take long time to get the temperature down. Heatieis fine. (opposite to my Lancia).
Got the d4 cross country. 26 hours, London to Spain, drove itself most of the way, you get 30seconds between having to touch the steering wheel, then a light comes on, and if you ignore that, a DONG, about 40 seconds. most comfy seats bar a RR, best stereo of any car, best self driving software of any car. As comfortable if not more so than my old S class. I am impressed.
I took mine Bilbao to Porto last year, 750km, first time in years driving on that side of the road and in a right hand drive car, was nervous about it especially as the missus, our two dogs and loads of luggage were onboard as we were going for 2 months. The car made a huge difference, the drive would have killed me in something with less comfort and driver assistance. It is perfect for that type of thing.
Great video I drive a 2019 Inscription D5 AWD in white, tan leather, every factory option, it was some kind of Volvo show car with heated, cooled, massage seats etc. no issues at all during my ownership ..
Bought the D4 R-Design in the same stunning silver, thanks to this excellent upload of yours. Having looked at estate vehicles from Audi, BMW and Mercedes I opted for the V90 because of it's solid build quality and the awesome tech it comes with, especially pilot assist. Thanks again! 😉
Volvo is really underrated,i love the thor hammer headlights and especially the S90s look, looks so special and so cool next to a 5 series which is just too plain, the V90 is even more stylish and i love the swedish minimalist interior,it just suits me and thats why im a sales manager at Volvo Cars Croatia :D Great video and review Mat!
I have had my eyes on one of these for a while. They are really handsome and look really good value on the used market. £23k for a sub 30,000 mile premium estate, with that interior, very tempting.
Loved Volvo's since I bought my 2003 V70 D5 a while back still gets 45-49 mpg and just returned from a 950 mile holiday and and now want a v90 to replace it something about Volvo's when you've had one you don't look back .
I have the V90 Cross Country Ocean Race edition - D4 engine. Unless I drive VERY conservatively, I gat around 35 37 mpg on average (mixed motorway and city driving) The D5 is more on top of the job and doesn't need to rev as much so MPG is better despite the added BHP. One other note with having it serviced at a main dealer, they will give you 12 months Volvo Assistance with each service and that is a great thing to have. Mine bizarrely lost it's alternator pulley (sheared off) and Volvo assistance brought me a new car to use, transported mine away to be fixed, rang every day with updates and then delivered it back when fixed and took away the loan car. All after only ONE phone call from me. THE best service I've ever had from a manufacturer - and I spent over 6 years with Toyota in the Motor Trade. I've now done over 60k miles in 2 years without any further issues. One hell of a car!
Really like your vids and you're putting more work in to them now which is great. However, there's a few inaccuracies in here: 1) pilot assist is standard on all SPA Volvo 90 series cars. No need to look for one with. 2) only a V90 momentum or possibly a D4 R- design will be standard £165 tax. All others will have started life at over £40k 3) it's not 2.5 tonnes. Kerb weight of that particular car will be around 1900kg. A D4 momentum will be around 1750 and therefore very comparable to a G31. I have had an S90 for 3 years and have just sold a G31 for another S90.
Took my V90 D4 on a 100 mile motorway run last week. Put it in Eco mode and cruised between 60mph and 70mph (I was in no rush) - it returned 61.1 mpg. Even driving normally it rarely returns less than 50mpg. My mates Ford Focus three cylinder 1.0 Ecotec can’t match that.
Haha! This is basically my exact car! I absolutely love it and have owned it for over two years. I take it across Europe a couple times per year and the Pilot Assist functions are fantastic. Happy to answer any questions any potential buyer may have for a long-time owner.
@@khelgarironfist3301 I paid £320 for a full service+MOT from a local specialist at the beginning of the year. I called up Volvo for the same service and they were charging about £460. Other than that, I had an engine light on and it turned out to be an O2 sensor that was going bad but the fault hasn't come up again since they cleared it (?). I used my Carly to try and reset the light myself but it wouldn't go away although I could see the code. So, I took it the Volvo and paid £108 for this. I also took the car there because my specialist couldn't find the fault and it turned out to be an EGR hose that was cracked. Apparently the pipes breaking on the car are a common issue, I've also had the powerpulse hose and coolant hose to do the same thing. Tyres can be expensive, I have CrossClimate tyres on mine and they run quite a bit. However, it's extremely comfortable and I just can't part with it. I want a car that is a bit faster but it is such a good car that I know I'll miss it if I sell it. I love it.
@@HaydnFisher coolant hose on my 2017 v90 cross country went after about 70k Kms. Very disappointing, you just would never ever see that on a Japanese car. Also had big problems with the safety systems that was blamed on the electronic towbar control module, replaced twice after almost no use. It's a lovely car for a long drive but overall it's been a let down in two years for me. It's just not very exciting and too many niggling issues. Auto wipers are always playing up, turbo air hose also went and dealer blamed it on rodents (which is possible given where we lived at the time, basically in a small forest!) but I still wonder Other issue would be the driver seat making an awful creaking noise, sorted with a bit of wd40 but again some thing that just shouldn't happen after 70-80k kms, especially as I'm 70kg on a bad day. Dealers here in Ireland are incompetent and ripoff merchants too.
@@nopota7290 Volvo charge premium prices now, they should give premium reliability. I've a v90 cross country for 2 years now and to be honest it isn't in any way exciting.
Volvos have really excelled in their design language in the past few years. I've always been a fan, I have a 2005 V50 and I still think that looks fresh compared to the equivalent year Audi A4 or Jaguar X-Type. The new V90 really does look like a Swiss Army Kife of a car.
I agree. I have a 2008 V50 with the slight face-lift, and I really like the look of it. When I bought it, I was actually looking for a Saab 9-3 wagon, but saw the V50, and instantly fell for it. I particularly love the interior, which just feels sleek, and uncluttered. Mine has full leather, being the SE trim, and not too many toys that you forget who's actually driving the car. The stereo is really good too. Owned it over three years now, and still love it.
Love the review… I bought an s90 after watching that old review! I spend most of my time sat in traffic on the M25, and that Pilot Assist makes it sooooo much better than my old manual BMW!
I bought a V60 cross country and absolutely love it. The pilot assist is brilliant. I feel it’s near impossible to crash. Love a good wagon/estate, here in Australia it’s SUV’s everywhere. I bucked the trend.
I remember my dad years ago saying when his Volvo 850 estate blows up he's gonna get a new car as he was bored of it and it just never did no matter how hard he tried it just kept going lol ended up just selling it for a couple of hundred quid
I beg to differ on the ‘lusted over a Volvo estate’… the 850 T5 in yellow was a 90s statement that I wanted badly… I was only 16, bust still, what a machine :-)
I've had mine for close to 3yrs. Tricked up with options and 20" wheels. I still think it's probably the most handsome estate on the road and doesnt look like its been designed by a kid in a sweet shop. All the fluff that I didn't think I'd need have become daily essentials. Self drive in a traffic jam is heaven. 360 cams in a multistory carpark with tiny spaces no problem and everything just works better than any other car. Even the wipers work better lol. Downside is the sports ones have pretty hard suspension which on uk roads can be a little firm. Don't think much of the dealer either but that seems to be par for the course. When I picked it up the box for the keys was like I was getting married. And it has a bloody swim key for water sports. Mine will have to go soon. Work from home these days and house purchase looming 😒
Great review Mat. I’ve had a V90CC D5 for over 5 years now and love it. One thing to look for on those D5 engines is that the power pulse pipes linking the compressor to the turbo have a tendency to fail quite frequently. Mine has has 4 so far and it’s a common issue for most owners. Still wouldn’t swap it for anything.
My V50 D5 eventually died through the turbo blowing, I went to overtake on the motorway and the RPM went through the roof, black smoke everywhere, I pulled over with the RPM still redlining, turned the ignition off...End it wouldn't stop. Just kept running and sounding worse and worse. I had to literally stall the car to shut the engine off. AA towed me to a garage and they said we can fix it but you could buy about 4 of these for the same price so I had to get rid.
I'm new to Volvo (C70) and I'm really impressed. Seats are great, layout is neat and easy to use. It's designed to be easy (ish) to work on. I removed the headlight cluster and I didn't need ANY tools!
Just looking to purchase a Volvo for the first time. Frequent visits to Scotland from the southeast for long motorway journeys. I borrowed one and I think at last I have found a car that suits me. After many BMW’s and I do wear socks with sandals 😃
A friend recently got himself a 2018 V90 D4. To my amazement it does not have AdBlue even though the handbook says that it does! It seems that some have it and some do not - I;ve told him is is very lucky!. One thing to look out for is the extra tax for list price over 40K. My friend's was about £39K new but was the basic trim spec. Higher trim levels can put these in the high tax for 5 years bracket. He has had trouble with the oil level showing as over full - after a dealer service. Apparently a bit of an issue with these. Apart from that he loves it.
It’s not just volvos that are great to drive and own, but also their owners. Always end up being the most respectable people I find. I love this V90 in the cross country version. Its like it took it’s suit off and dressed in sports gear with some chunky boots.
Hi, I’ve had my V90 D4 for 3.5 years now. It was a replacement for my Mercedes CLS ( Mercedes stopped making the CLS shootinbrake). I am pleased they did as I have found the Volvo to be a great replacement. I’ve done 30,000 miles, regularly get over 50mpg on a run. I love all the technology, auto pilot is a great feature, I love the alarm isolation in the back if I need to leave the dog in the back for a few minutes. I have it serviced by Volvo which is not cheap and road tax at £520 also not cheap but all in all worth paying for such a great car. This will easily do me for another 5 years.
Very much a sensible option. A person that buys a car with his head. Still a very good looking and cavernous workhorse. Congratulations Mat on finding some rain ☔
I have the V 90 Cross Country D5, the best estate that is out there. 35 MPG on motorway runs and just under 30 MPG in town. By far the best interior I have seen, this side of 70.000 Pounds. Outstanding quality and design.
I sold my V70 and tested a lot of v90’s, to end up with a 2018 xc90 D5 awd. We did some chiptuning to 285 hp and 650 nm of torque. Funny thing is: inside the car it feels like a easy, gentle car, but it really is a spaceship! The only thing i regret is that we don’t have bought the R-design version of it. In comparison to a x5 or q7 which we tested as well, we’re still very happy with this generation of Volvo’s
The new Volvo designs are beautiful. Mind you their a couple years old now but every time I walk past my bosses xc90 I can't help but think how much of a looker the car really is. Geely really seem to have brought out the best of volvo
I just bought on Friday, 19 plate with 62k miles, cross country. Absolutely love it, get all my stealth camping gear in the back with my blow up bed for hitting Munro’s.
Really like these, have a silver v70 d5 2002 on factory 18". Averaging 54mpg on trip, se spec, have upgraded to the 300w speakers and amp. Factory towbar which towed horse trailer to pick up my two post ramp. Great all round cars. Like the v90, didn't like the s60/v60 2010 era cars, looked weedy. Also have 2 850r's and wife's xc90 so are volvo family. Would like to go back to daily driving a petrol, by fuel costs to high to make enjoyable. Hybrid probably the future.
Great vid as usual, just wanted to say I like the fact you only have one advert at the start of your videos, many are doing double adverts which makes me not want to bother.
Wow I've not even seen the whole video and that "volvo v90" written on the road as you said it was a nice touch. 👌 Ove watched your channel for years but got bored but back interested again 🤣🤣🤣. Good reviews pal, keep it up
I hired a V90 last summer and drove it to the north of Sweden. It had a b5 engine which was a mild hybrid diesel engine. It was indeed a very comfortable journey and the steering wheel of V90 felt very light. But the car feels litle bit heavy and the infotainment system is very friendly.
This Volvo Estate is a strange creature Matt ... often neglected by car buyers (including myself) it really is a practical, and dare I say it masculine looking car ... excellent lines, surprisingly well designed interior and the cabin space really appeals to me me ... I like the drivetrain but living in the colonies i.e. Australia ... servicing/parts can become pricey compared to Europe ... Love the channel ... 🤙
Your V90 was also “polestar optimised” wich increases the power a little bit but also improves gearbox response and offers much more power in the mid range instead of the top end
Watched this the S90 and the XC90 reviews and recently picked up a V90, it is a nice machine, still in the honeymoon phase but feel its a worthy competitor to the germans.
Always rated Volvos highly. Maybe not as a personal car, but I’ve had an older V70 2007 estate for work purposes for several years and it never let me down. In comparison my business partner has gone through 4 zafiras and 2 Hyundai trajets and a Mercedes’ ML. my wife has an xc90 and it’s so satisfying knowing it’s one of the safest if not the safest luxury car out there
I also have a V70 2007, only 160.000 km. With all options. Never had big costs, had a cheque every 10.000 km. And can get still serious money for it here in The Netherlands.
Since driving a xc90 I've got a new found love for modern Volvos. I've always loved the old boxy ones but never was interested in modern ones till I drove one
Haha. I 100% get that post, I'm not sure of the truth with that Court Case, time will tell I guess. Oh and no, I'm not going to cancel my TV licence and pay to watch him instead... 👍
These are very close to the top of my Ultimate Wish List right now - they look fantastic for any sort of car, never mind an estate! In '79 I learnt to drive in my dad's Volvo 145 (with the hand brake down between the drivers seat and door) which was his first Volvo and he remained with the marque for the rest of his life.
I've always liked but never actually bought a Volvo.....but this has definitely whetted my appetite. As you rightly say, it's not one feature but the overall package at a really good price. Another great video - nicely scripted and shot to be engaging, informative and entertaining...or 'infoenterging' as absolutely NOBODY says...yet! 🤣
2nd hand costing the same as a brand new Fiesta Titanium X and it is more spacious, so when your tired on a motorway run pull off, pull down the back seats and slip into your sleeping bag. Even as its a big boot room for a cooker, fridge and if you need it, a Porta-Potty. Yes Matt had I the money I'd buy one.
I loved my 67 plate volvo V90 T4 inscription. And after 3 years and 30000 miles I sold it for £4000 more than I paid for it. I adveraged 55mpg and it was so relaxing on long motorway / dual carriageway trips. Autopilot gave you time to watch other people in there cars. I had a BMW 535D touring before this, and yes it was better on a twisty road, and yes it was blisteringly quick. But it was way more expensive to run and always had something broken that would cost a fortune to repair. Nothing ever broke / stopped working on the Volvo. Mine didn't have Android Auto or apple car play , but Volvo only charged £200 to add. My car tax was way more than that. It started at over £800 a year and then when 3 years old it halved. The inscription also had full electric memory seats. Fully recommend anyone thinking of buying one.
My 71 plate Sportage has lane assist that you can really feel getting involved on a twisty road . Oh and 61 mpg from Silverstone to sunny Gretna yesterday which was less than the trip down on Thursday!!
My 2005 S60 D5 clicked 150k miles the other day, still going strong and gobbles up my 80 mile daily commute every day, nowhere near as much Tech as that V90 but great comfy seats and an amazing stereo, Oh and it's got fully electric seats, l can see myself replacing it with a V90 like this one in the future
Great video Matt. I have a v90 D4 Inscription Plus, which I think is great. I agree on the styling, and it’s a comfortable place to be, with Pilot Assist on motorway journeys. I still keep hands on and full focus, but it just helps reduce a bit of the intensity. I bought mine 2 1/2 years ago, when it was 7 months old (ex Volvo lease I think). I can’t think of many toys it doesn’t have (mine has the headlight beams which work with the steering into corners, and cooled seats on top of the things you mentioned). The only thing I wish it had fitted as an option when new is the BLIS (blindspot system)It’s a car I intend to keep for a long time, as long as all of the electrical bits don’t start bringing big bills. My only minor gripe is that the sloping rear screen which finishes off its looks can be a pain with big loads. I’m sure the old-fashioned Volvo estates or even E-Class would be better in that sense, but that’s something which is an issue once or twice a year, and if that’s my only complaint then I can more than live with that.
I drive a 2023 V90 T6 Recharge Ultimate. Trust me, compared to the previous models, the new ones are leagues ahead!! Quieter, better infotainment etc, and the Bowers & Wilkins audio is epic!
I have the D5 CC and it is a very good car. Mostly used around town so the published mpg is somewhat optimistic but for a big old bus I get around 30mpg and its proper place is the motorway where it is excellent. Oh, Tax, it is £520 a year.
My XC90 D5 SE 2006MY is difficult to fault. Love the in-line 5 warble and in 185bhp form it’s fairly brisk if you step on it. I’ve had many Volvo’s over the years, 244, 240, 340, 360 and this is the best allrounder yet……. yes it’s a bit mumsie, but I can get my jollies on my motorbikes 🙂🇬🇧
In the United States only the Cross Country version was available at dealerships on a regular basis. The non Cross Country version was special order. Both are rare sights, even in the more affluent areas, especially the non Cross Country. Of course don't get the diesel. We only have one engine which is a supercharged/turbocharged gasoline 4cyl. Beautiful vehicle but in the US at least they have a disastrous reputation for reliability and durability.
Nice car matt Could you please review the xc60 2018 onwards, I have watched your vid on the 2017 model but our budget can stretch to £25.000 so we are looking at the R Design new shape and I do value your opinion. Keep up the good work matt. Thanks
The V90 is a gorgeous car, but you're not quite right about the old Volvos, there were some pretty desirable Volvo estates. They even raced 850 R estates in the BTCC, which was a pretty spectacular sight.
Agree 100% , I’d love a 850t5 estate

Many cars add unnecessary aggression to their styling to make their cars "standout" but all it does is make all cars look the same. For Volvo to approach their design language in their minimal Swedish way, they make their cars stand apart from everything else. I appreciate it's cabin too. Functional with plenty of luxury add-ons to make it a place you would want to eat miles in. The boot is as big as many crossovers but without the boring crossover shape. Big fan!
Chinese owned rubbish now unfortunately.
Nothing sleek about it! It's just another big barge.Far too cumbersome and unweildy for U.K. roads.
@@graham6771 Not an issue for us in the USA where I live. Sleek in the sense that it's not a shouty aggressive SUV and has svelte lines
@@graham6771Seems just fine to me in these UK roads? Does absolutely everything I need, dirt track to the house, country roads and even smooth motorway travel. It's obvious not an inner city car yet I avoid those places like the plague so not a bother for me.
Currently my dream car but i feel like you're waking me up😅
Every time I see a V90 I'm just blown away. They are simply some of the most beautiful cars on the road. They've even managed to make the Cross Country versions as nice as well. If I could get a V90 CC Inscription Plus... man would I be chuffed
I have a 2019 V90 Cross Country Ocean Race edition , it’s absolutely the perfect all rounder.
What a coincidence finding a road with the make and model of the car you're reviewing painted on it!
My mum had a 340 or 330 GL
Quality video Matt, and not just the car, it's easy to see you're putting alot of work and care into the production value of your videos .
Hi mark, how is the B4 mpg compared with the D4? thanks in advance!
I’ve had one of these the past 5 years, almost from new, and it’s by far the best car I’ve ever owned. Faultless, fast, quiet, comfortable and still looks great I think. Future classic.
When you black out the grill and that they look so good
Hi Matt, I have the Cross-country version.
@@malcolmjcullen damn , that sucks , what a junk
My Volvo is 27 years old, going to get it a birthday cake …
When Volvo came out with their lineup including this I thought they were leaps ahead of all the other brands; the interiors absolutely blew me away and the advert was brilliant!
I had a 2019 V60 T5 R-Design. A great car. Only a smidge smaller than the V90 but drove slightly sharper. I’d have another.
Always, ALWAYS here for the Volvo vids. I really think Volvos are very underrated. They're a great car for the money.
Love new Volvos. Look great and fantastic interiors
I have had my eyes on one of these for a while. They are really handsome and look really good value on the used market.
£23k for a sub 30,000 mile premium estate, with that interior, very tempting.
It’s got 62000 miles on the clock pal.
Loved Volvo's since I bought my 2003 V70 D5 a while back still gets 45-49 mpg and just returned from a 950 mile holiday and and now want a v90 to replace it something about Volvo's when you've had one you don't look back .
Nice camera work and editing! Love that V90. I’m a big fan of the smaller V60 as well.
However, there's a few inaccuracies in here:
1) pilot assist is standard on all SPA Volvo 90 series cars. No need to look for one with.
2) only a V90 momentum or possibly a D4 R- design will be standard £165 tax. All others will have started life at over £40k
3) it's not 2.5 tonnes.
Expensive to maintain?
Auto wipers are always playing up, turbo air hose also went and dealer blamed it on rodents (which is possible given where we lived at the time, basically in a small forest!) but I still wonder
Other issue would be the driver seat making an awful creaking noise, sorted with a bit of wd40 but again some thing that just shouldn't happen after 70-80k kms, especially as I'm 70kg on a bad day.
Dealers here in Ireland are incompetent and ripoff merchants too.
@@terrydelahunt842 Japanese cars are some of the most bland and boring cars ever made. Reliable, yes, boring, yes.
I have a 2006 S60 D5 in Silver and i still look back at it every now and again.
Jake: your 2005 V50 DOES look fresh compared to the equivalent year whatever. And it probably still works properly too.
Definitely one of the best Chinese cars around. 😉
I have a V50 D4. I agree, it still looks fresh.
collected my v90 68 plate D4 Inscription Pro last week
lovely drive and spec
Ok I love the little editing touch with the
text Volvo v90 flying under the car! 😱
Glad you liked it!
Love the review… I bought an s90 after watching that old review! I spend most of my time sat in traffic on the M25, and that Pilot Assist makes it sooooo much better than my old manual BMW!
The production quality of this vid is so good I’ve had to watch it twice! Once to take in the information and again to admire the cutaways 😅
Thanks!
Been driving the V90 T6 PHEV for the last 17 months. Damn fine car.
Volvo is the king of estates cars.
Especially the V90.
Great video by the way 👌
Great review Mat.
I'd get the D4 version over the D5 because that powerpulse technology sounds like something that would go wrong a lot! D4 doesn't have it.
I'm new to Volvo (C70) and I'm really impressed. Seats are great, layout is neat and easy to use. It's designed to be easy (ish) to work on. I removed the headlight cluster and I didn't need ANY tools!
Yes, Aisin which is obvious, sensible, reliable alternative to anything labelled DSG or Powershift.
We have Volvos as pool cars at work, I have had a v90 T5 a few times I love it and each time I drive it I end doing man maths to see if I can buy one.
I've lusted after a Volvo estate car! There ye go, there's always one 😅
Very much a sensible option. A person that buys a car with his head. Still a very good looking and cavernous workhorse. Congratulations Mat on finding some rain ☔
On my second Volvo. V60, had a V70R amazing car. Hope to get one of these. Good review btw.
The 1st video of yours where ive been able to have a proper look at your watch, very nice.
I drove my friends volvo v90 D5 and it was lovely to drive and so different from my classic 940 2.3lpt.
Looks like a really great car. Excellent value for money something you drive to the moon and back cheers Phil from Newark
Let's just say this is the best-looking Volvo, period.
The new Volvo designs are beautiful. Mind you their a couple years old now but every time I walk past my bosses xc90 I can't help but think how much of a looker the car really is.
Geely really seem to have brought out the best of volvo
I am always lusting after estates, just to prove you wrong. I think they are amazing!
Ove watched your channel for years but got bored but back interested again 🤣🤣🤣.
Ooh, that’s fancy:) I like those graphics appearing on the road. Perfect timing:)
Glad you like it!
0:46 Kudos to the video editing team/person neatly done
Always good videos!!! Greetings from (origin) Volvoland, Sweden.
Your V90 was also “polestar optimised” wich increases the power a little bit but also improves gearbox response and offers much more power in the mid range instead of the top end
I remember getting an email about Polestar optimisation. It was going to give me 5 more hp on my T5.
No thanks .
Watched this the S90 and the XC90 reviews and recently picked up a V90, it is a nice machine, still in the honeymoon phase but feel its a worthy competitor to the germans.
I own a V60 Cross Country. It’s a perfect all around vehicle. Best wagon I’ve owned, including MB and BMW.
Great looking car, but the boot isn't as big as Alex Belfield's legal bills, but that wasn't why you called.
🤣
Haha. I 100% get that post, I'm not sure of the truth with that Court Case, time will tell I guess. Oh and no, I'm not going to cancel my TV licence and pay to watch him instead... 👍
Volvo seats are the best hands down 🙌🏼
These are very close to the top of my Ultimate Wish List right now - they look fantastic for any sort of car, never mind an estate! In '79 I learnt to drive in my dad's Volvo 145 (with the hand brake down between the drivers seat and door) which was his first Volvo and he remained with the marque for the rest of his life.
I like the video editing upgrades. They add a nice touch.
I bought a black s90 d5 awd based on your video a few years ago.... love it.
Estate does look sexy
Hello Again, Wow Matt, great 'graphics' on the road, plus much better 'jeans' this week. Regards, RichardA.
Many thanks!
I have the V90 Cross Country - absolutely superb. Buy one.
Just timed it nicely Matt , i am toying with the idea of buying a V90 so value your review very much.
55mpg average,realy,just handed back a t4 r design after 3 years.Never got close to these figures,27 about town 38 combined.
Thanks for the random mention of my home town. Im liking Volvos more and more, must be getting old. As always, interesting vid.
Been looking forward to this video Matt 👌👏🙏 so practical and amazingly comfortable with a great drive, perfect long drive cruiser
Thanks, Matt doesn’t seem to like the X90
In the United States only the Cross Country version was available at dealerships on a regular basis.
The non Cross Country version was special order.
Both are rare sights, even in the more affluent areas, especially the non Cross Country.
Of course don't get the diesel.
We only have one engine which is a supercharged/turbocharged gasoline 4cyl.
Beautiful vehicle but in the US at least they have a disastrous reputation for reliability and durability.
Nice car matt
Could you please review the xc60 2018 onwards, I have watched your vid on the 2017 model but our budget can stretch to £25.000 so we are looking at the R Design new shape and I do value your opinion.
Keep up the good work matt.
Thanks
