    I absolutely love this second generation of XC90. A mate of mine bought a new one a few years back and it's still so impressive. He drive a gang of 7 of us to Goodwood FOS in comfort. So much classier than an X5 and won't get stolen like a Range Rover

    I have warm feelings toward Volvo. My dad had a 740 and a one of the fast 850s, and I used to sit in it on the drive to listen to my jungle tapes because the sound system was far better than what I had in my bedroom.

    Such an Incredible car! I had an 2018 Inscription Pro on lease over 4 years and covered 78,000 miles. It genuinely did everything so well and adults could fit in the rear 3rd row which can't be said for its competitors. The car turned me into a bit of a Volvo fan boy

    Bought a 2018 XC60 almost a year ago and every time I get in it I it puts a smile on my face. Best to buy one with a few bells and whistles, even though the base models are well equipped. I've completed 8 hour drives with a 10 minute fuel/coffee stop and alighted as fresh as when I set off. Only minor gripes. Same as you; the temp gauge on the touchscreen is not a good idea. The satnav is poor, but I use Google maps through carplay anyway. Outstanding comfort and the blond leather interior makes them feel even bigger. Highly recommended.

    I love these for some strange reason. I like the MK2 because they are so comfortable and easy to drive. I think I would have the inscription variant. I don't know if anyone remembers, but there was a Red XC90, on a 65 plate, which was used a press car. We sold that in my workplace.

    Had a June 22 as a courtesy car today, still looks amazing but really starting to feel it’s age now, especially the infotainment. Refinement was way short of my Q7 but a very comfortable and capable car. Third row seats much roomier than Q7 although not easy to access. For the longest time you could not get any discount on these but now 15K is possible so clearly nearing end of life.

    Great car! Owned a 66 plate D5 Inscription for 3 years…towed a horse trailer to the ‘Gymkhana’, lugged 7 people around, transported double beds, rubbish etc…very practical and surprisingly nippy due to the ‘power plus’ compressed air turbo boost. It is a BIG car though, so a bit tight in a multi-storey car park!😱

    These are great cars. Good technology and safety, the ride is excellent, materials feel expensive and solid. The engine options just let them down. The 2.0 petrol and diesels are too small, and while the T8 plug-in hybrid is quick, but horrendous on fuel once the battery has drained.

I traded in a 2 year old 5008 for a 5 year old xc90… the xc90 felt like a newer car, great video and inspired me to switch, very safe ,solid, lots of room, love the pilot assist! Truly feels great commuting to work and plenty of room for the family , the ultimate all rounder for me, I can get 7 in and still have a boot! I bought a late 2016 T8 Inscription 2 years ago just before the second hand prices went up. Great car and a better option now my two youngest children are out of car seats and the two oldest are both over 6ft. Much more comfortable vs the old 2006 Sharan where the floor is higher for all the rear seats which made it uncomfortable for the two tallest. Zero tax, loads of space and great to drive. I get around 20 miles on battery only and that covers most of my short city journeys.
    I had one crazy mpg on battery only where I drove 16 miles at 2am with a few hills to go down more than up and the car trip computer showed 562mpg when I got home 😊

    That’s a smashing looking car. Recent Volvos have been really good Ive been impressed. My parter’s dad has a V90 in Fire & Rescue service livery and it’s very cool - so high end even for an emergency service variant. I also spent a lot of time in a new shape XC60 doing my trailer driving test - it was manual, obviously, and the gearbox was very slick. The car was very comfortable and a pleasure to drive (even with an annoying trailer on the back). I was sat there for a total of 8 hours over 2 days thinking how wonderful the XC90 must be if the XC60 is this good!
    You’re absolutely bang on about the touch screen - I found that quite annoying to use and never really got the hang of it.

    I had one for several months while my LR Discovery had it's gearbox replaced. Like you I really liked it although the economy rarely got over 35mpg even on a long run. Nearly bought one but needed off-road ability

    I had an 18 plate XC90 D5 R-Design for 13 months. I loved it, but it didn't love me, it spent a total of 1 of those 13 months over 8 visits in the dealership being fixed for various issues and a also persistent but intermittent EML. I part exchanged it in the end, even as I drove to the dealership to get rid the EML was on. Fortunately it went off before I arrived.

    We have had 850 estate, v70 estate, test drove series 1 XC90, which I didn’t particularly enjoy. Test drove series 2 XC90 and bought one in 2017. Still have it and enjoy it throughly. My favourite though was my 850 estate.

    The Polestar upgrade makes a big difference to the 4 pot D5 diesel in the XC90. Avoid the very early ones as they can suffer from excessive oil consumption due to an issue with the piston rings, and don't expect cheap repair bills if anything major goes wrong. All that said, my 2016 XC90 D5 R-Design is a great car and has had very few problems in the 4 years I've owned it.

      I've that upgrade on a d4, it makes a huge difference but frankly should be included from the get go, its laughable they make it a option you have to pay for in my opinion.

    • @tch1978

      Polestar is software upgrade of gearbox. It is good, but not for £700. For that money you get better with ECU and Gearbox remap in good tuning company

    • @Matt3401
      @Matt3401 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tch1978 Actually it's a powertrain optimisation, and does change the torque curve of the engine (very slight increase in power), does change the gearbox performance and also the power distribution between the front and rear wheels. As @TerryDelahunt says, it really should have been included as standard, but the key point for most owners is that it does not affect the warranty as other remaps would do. I agree £700 is far too much, and it's often on offer at much less than that.

      When you say earlier models, what years are you referring to? I'm after a 7 seat suv, looking at one of these or the lexus rx 450hl. I know the Lexus will be more reliable but how do Volvos compare?

    • @MementoMori-xx5qo
      @MementoMori-xx5qo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tch1978 I agree that you can get more power going elsewhere, but noone tunes Aisin gearboxes, so the Polestar package is far better, also remaps the haldex.

    Looking forward to getting one of these, but for now I’ll keep my 200k 2010 xc90… yes it’s boring, but… it never goes wrong, it’s cheap to fix and as a car for my wife I know the family are safe … I just drive my rs4 when I want some fun so the xc90 makes perfect sense as our cheap family school bus

    I bought a D5 Inscription new in 2015 owned it for 5 years and covered 90000 miles everything you said about it was bang on........however mine had the reliability of a paper towel in a monsoon, it went back to volvo 23 times for beak downs of various magnitude. Including blown turbo hoses, software problems and locking itself in park taking 6 hours to get it recovered. at one point when i sold it it was rated the most unreliable car in Britain. I bought something more reliable.....A Range Rover :) Great video Matt keep them coming.

    The Mk1 XC90 is the car I have the best memories with ever. That was the reason for me buying another one (it was right near you in Stockton). I know they're old fashioned, but for me the best driving position of all time. I just don't get tired in them. And I don't mind the boat like drive. This (mk1) is the first car we disagree on btw. 😅 (Based on your videos)
