You can say what you like about Chinese firms taking over “western” business but they saved Volvo and allowed them to make exactly the kind of cars swedes make so well. Unlike GM with Saab. Volvo now make the finest interiors hands down. And their entire range look the business

I have an S90 T6 Inscription AWD with every option and IMO it is the best car I have ever owned. I have the Mussel blue paint job with the cream colored interior. The power is fine, who needs more than 316 horsepower especially when you have the turbo charged and supercharged engine. The S90 has every safety feature available and the fact that it's a Volvo and their reputation for safety is undeniable. For anyone considering a car in the 70K plus range I urge you to test drive an S90.

Do miss the power and handling of my 2014 BMW 535D M Sport tourer, but not much else. V90 is an excellent motorway cruiser. I average 50mpg in mine compared to 30 in the BMW and so far no faults and the BMW had lots of them once engine out to change timing chain tensioners.

Really glad to hear you rate the S90. It (or the V90, which I agree looks better) are on my list of cars to own.
I have really enjoyed my pdevious 2015 530d, but change of job meant more miles and it had to go. Dabbled with a DS5 (loved the look, drove reasonably well) but it had to go as the driving position and manual made my back ache on my motorway commute.
So I swapped the DS5 for a low mileage 2012 S80 with the 5-cylinder 2L D3 engine, Inscription pack and the facelifted interior. Much like the review here of the S90, the driving performance and comfort with the full Sensus system are a delight. It isn't a car for the B roads, but for my 90 mile round trip motorway commute it's just spot on.

Got a 19plate R-Design T4 petrol, a great car bar the fuel economy (av 32.5mpg ). Loads of features as you state plus an app that allows remote engine start, to pre heat or cool the car before leaving home. Lovely on trips done a few London to Disney Paris this year and 7 hours door to door felt as fresh as a daisy on arrival. Fast enough in most situations, loads of space for all (especially rear passengers).

Well done you. Most car reviewers feel they have to apologise for liking a Volvo. You have given this review an unbiased opinion on what looks as though it is a superb car & you have disregarded the badge. That's what we want from an honest reviewer, an honest review. If the car is good, you should have the courage to say so, like you have. Forget about what the people have said in the past about Volvos, mainly due to Clarkson, who actually bought a Volvo in the end. You have done a very good job with this review, so thank you. All I need now is some more cash to be able to buy one!

@@josephwood499 Hello Joseph. I'm due to change my Volvo any day now. Here's a run down of the pros and cons.
      *Pros*:
It's exceptionally comfortable and smooth to drive, especially when put into Eco mode. It makes effortless progress and eats up the motorway miles without hesitation. Gear changes are barely noticeable.
It's also very spacious, 4 adults and luggage fit no problem.
I find the infotainment system really very straight forward and easy to use (I had noted some reviewers said it was overly complicated but that just simply hasn't been my experience) and the ability to link your phone to the car and remotely open or start it is a great feature, especially in winter as it means you get into a toasty car.
It feels very sure footed. It's no BMW, of course, but it can handle itself well with good body control. But I find that the driving dynamics encourage one to just have a pleasant and relaxing cruise rather than blasting about the place. I tend to drive very gently and calmly as a result.
I still think it's a very good looking car, inside and out.
      *Cons*:
Even with it always in Eco Mode and driving gently, using the stop/start etc, I struggle to get above 31 MPG in mixed driving conditions. Far off the 40-odd Volvo claim.
Upon first impression, I found the car to be well screwed together. However, after 18,000 or so miles, the car is plagued with a variety of trim rattles and squeaks. One in particular, behind the dashboard, required 3 separate visits to Volvo, including them removing the whole dash, but to no avail. I was given the car back and told to let it "develop" more. I grew very tired with the level of customer service at the Volvo dealer here in Glasgow so I've just learned to live with it and the other rattles as I don't want to deal with them anymore. But they drive me mad. So much so I'm looking to change the car now. I believe this problem isn't as prevalent in the Swedish built V90's, but the S90's are built in China and I know I'm not alone in finding fit and finish issues.
Lastly, and it's a small one, but whilst the infotainment system is easy to use, upon first start up of the car, it's very slow and laggy and takes a good few mins to boot up properly and get up to speed. And whilst the app is good, it isn't perfect and sometimes fails to communicate with the car randomly.
Other than it's standard first service (which I had done at Voltech, a Volvo Independent Specialist here in Glasgow that I would highly recommend) I haven't had any other service costs.
All-in-all it's been a good car, and I enjoy it.... If only it didn't squeak and buzz over every tiny little bump!
      Hope that helps.

Typically I drive German autos but thought I’d take a look at a Volvo to save some cash, but was surprised to find little price difference.
With the exception of the Subaru boxer which whilst characterful is unfortunately unrefined there isn’t a 4 cyl on the market that is worth it to me. Once you’ve had a V6 or a V8 a 4, (especially a diesel), is an awful thing to sit behind.
