I think this is one of the reasons this drug actually works - causing nausea. Who wants to eat lots of food if feeling bad in their stomach. I hope you find a more sustainable way to lose weight.
My father has it prescribed for diabetis, he has been in the hospital several times already for uncontrollable nausea, vomitig, diarrhea. But yes he is losing weight, so the drug "works"
He's probably on semaglutide. Tirzepatide typically causes much less nausea (if any) and works better for weight loss. And the options will only get better from here as new ones get approved.
This worries me… My dad was just put on this for his type I diabetes, BUT he beat stage 3 colon cancer in the past and has a sensitive digestive system. He’s been having some issues before he was put on this, but if this increases it, that’s bad news
I was prescribed Trulicity for T2D. My doctor said 'you may experience nausea'. That was it. I get that the risk of catastrophic effects is small but that motivated me to do everything I could to get off of it. Which led me to How Not to Die. WFPB is my miracle.
@@lukeweaver9287 We humans want a magic pill to solve our problems. We will see in a decade what the effects of this drug will be. I'm curious if it keeps people's weight off for more than a few years and how it affects their muscular system.
I was on it for a week when it was pretty new. Victoza was what I was prescribed for T2. As I felt like I was surely dying, curled up in a ball on the bathroom floor, that was the closest I've ever been to calling an ambulance. I would rather birth a child than feel that pain again. I'll stick with my vegan diet and insulin. A1C always around 6 for a 20+ year diabetic isn't too bad 🤷♀️
Thank you for covering this topic. My mom has been on ozempic for some time and while she’s lost plenty of weight, her eating habits remain to be very poor (sugar addict). The long term effects do concern me as my grandmother (her mother) died from pancreatic cancer
If you have a lot of weight to lose that is not safe, sustainable and has a 60% lifetime risk of death as a side effect. Take the Ozempic or even better Zepbound. Nothing in life comes without risk. In this case, the risk / benefit equation is a no brainer.
Good counseling is critical. Don't get compounded Glp-1 from your local spa at the 3 for 2 sale. I gained 8% muscle mass and had very minimal side effects thanks to a good doc who managed my titration through the various doses and emphasized the need to eat sufficient protein and do regular strength exercises. This drug changed my life for the (much) better. Should be a lot cheaper though; crazy expensive in the US if insurance does not cover.
We buried my mother in law mid November last year. She was suffering from abdominal pain so badly she finally asked for morphine. They could not figure out why she was in so much pain. She had zero potassium in her body and suplments wouldn't help. Even iv potassium wouldn't help. I remember when she talked about her doctor treating her with gila monster spit many years ago.
No, I wasn’t counseled in depth about the Ozempic by my dr. I took it for Diabetes, however the side effects after a year were not worth it. My A1c were good and I lost a good amount of weight. My Magnesium and Sodium levels had gone down a point
@davin8r Not really, if I stop studying French because I am at the level I want to be, my French doesn't leave me if I stop. If a person is taking pills for high blood pressure and they lower their weight and go a year with out eating animals colesterol and they stop taking the blood pressure pills, it doesn't mean that their blood pressure goes up. What you are saying, it seems, is that if a person uses this drug to get to a lower weight that a weight gain will happen if they stop taking this drug. Do you know if this drug will be a life long thing and if the dosage has to increase with time?

These meds help decrease cravings for junk foods and make it easier to stick with a whole foods plant based diet.

Kinda like the Sinclair Method or Antabuse for controlling problematic drinking then?
Got it.

Drs. Campbell, Esselstyn, Greger, Barnard and Khambatta are my heroes. Love them all.
I gave up after one month the side effects causing the constant nausea were too unpleasant for me.

Sorry. My mother in law had the exact same issues. Watch his potassium levels, and watch his heartbeat.

I love this channel!
Odds are high that it's not safe.
Maybe, but is it still safer than being overweight? Time will tell.
Did you watch the video?

That's not what he said in the video

I have lots of weight to lose but I knew to stay away from ozempic. I was looking for something safe sustainable that has no side effects
I am trying the just eat three meals a day and no snacks in between them , and it's working really well ,
wfpb?

any drug will have side effects if the duration and dose are great enough
Very interesting topic! What do you think about the importance of choosing the right title for a video? 😻👅
Bracing for the tantrums in the comments by ozempic users..
😁
Why? According to Greger, benefits far outweigh risks. No tantrum required.
Thanks for not quoting communists this time.
Who cares, I’m skinny now!
Just don't get off the drug 🎉
