I swear your videos are a miracle. It’s so hard to find people who actually know stuff about the w212 with the m157. Thank you so much and keep pushing videos like these out.
This worked like charm on my 2019 E63 S! I have tried where you keep pedal down for 10 seconds before bur didn't notice any difference but this time keeping it pressed for 2 minutes made the difference.
Great tip thanks for sharing I accomplished this on my S550 and I noticed the change immediately in the lower gears and that improved on day two. When slowing down it is very smooth. Thanks for sharing
Another superb video and properly tested too as always. Great work Ken. I already did this as had a few jerky 3rds and what I had gleaned was the below from uTube videos but from now on keeping the throttle down for the two minutes. Thank you Ignition to Position 2 (warning lights on) Don’t start engine Full throttle depression for 10 secs + Key back to position 0 Release throttle Wait for 2 mins with key in Start and drive for 15 mins
Good point. Opinions seem to differ on whether to continue holding down the throttle after the key goes back to position 0 and while then waiting for the two minutes...
Appreciate your videos! Did this and the oil pump solenoid mod and it’s definitely a smoother ride and gears seem to shift up and down smoother. Doing the coolant pump always on next. Just curious what year is your e63?
Great video. Supported by actual data to quantify results. So rare to see that. Would live to see more W213 E63 content. Oil seperator replacement is a suggestion.
@@ExoticCarDIYHi! Please help me with your M157 knowledge!!! I have a m157 E63s stage 2 tune. Catless downpipe with rear valvetronic mufflers, my issue - every time I'm cruising or accelerating, once I let go of the accelerator it doesn't react straight away (de accelerate) it's like it holds the rev it was on just before I took my foot off the accelerator?? So if I'm cruising 40mph and I take my foot off the accelerator, it still cruises at what ever speed I was going at for 2 seconds??
It does work and you can feel it without a tool. Drive your car a bit with speed and high rpm, then the car will always want to go the same way and burn more fuel too, more than before even in economy. Stop the car, do the reset and you are back to lower rpms and fuel. Also you don't need 2 minutes, 10 seconds is enough
Keep up the good work bud, when ever you have time can you make a video showing how to adjust ride height, I would like to have it sitting a bit lower on comfort mode without changing the springs or changing the dynamics of the ride in general. Hopefully you can do that, I appreciate all your effort that goes into this
If you have an e550 or any of the models with air springs, you can either lower it with a computer, or lowering links. If you have an e63, there's no getting around it you have to change the front steel coils. I have videos on how to lower the E63, both with h&r springs, mine is currently sitting on KW coilovers
on my GLE 63s I done the manual way, which didn't feel like even worked. Then used our snapon triton d10 (has adaptation reset for the trans) which definitely made it feel like everything reset. I attributed it to me doing the manual method inaccurately.
Funny u say that about the oil I did mine a month ago I actually think mine takes longer but I do notice better low rpm response lol I’ll pay more attention… and omg put catless down pipes on this 9 year old cls63 and all 4 bolts broke in manifold but the worst is those MFN top two O2 plug I mean god FN damn. Took me two long days but I got it. Your videos gave me the confidence, keep workin bro 😎
Thanks for sharing all your tips. I'll try this. Question about brief rattling when starting up warm engine. Sounds like oil starvation for a few seconds but it's not low on oil. What would cause that?
Unfortunately that's very common, especially in the 12-14 models. Mercedes claims it's simply an annoyance and not harmful. It's the timing chain tensioners. Early m157 had no check valves and so they would allow the oil to drain out of the tensioner. So on startup it takes two or three seconds for oils to tighten the chain. Then the tensioners themselves are insufficient and have gone through several revisions. There are tsb documents and many forum posts on this for further reading
@ExoticCarDIY - Thanks so much for another awesome W212 E63 video! This is a great topic that from what I can see has never been resolved on the various forums as to whether the reset procedure works or not. Your detailed experiment suggests that it does. I just wonder if driving the car as you did might have changed the adaptation data whether you had done the reset or not. Did you check the values after the reset but before driving?
It's an interesting topic and interesting procedure, definitely has a lot of controversy and questions surrounding it. One thing I do know is it 100% works. But what it actually does is still debatable. Imo, the adaptations are compiled over thousands of miles at some point new data doesn't affect the current adaptations very much just because there's so much historical data that it is averaging. What I believe the procedure does is not a race everything, but instead, it made me believe the previous historical data, and allows it to begin the relearn process anew But yes, I checked the parameters immediately after the procedure and they were the same.
@@ExoticCarDIY Your explanation makes sense to me and many who've used the key/accelerator reset report dramatic changes. The other DIY method discussed on the forums is unhooking the battery for an hour or so. One guy who claims to be a shop foreman at a Mercedes dealer say that's the only method that works besides using Xentry. I wonder if the battery method immediately changes the parameters before driving...

Interesting, obviously it will still work with the push button, but it almost sounds like something's wrong with your ignition module if it doesn't recognize the chip in the key. Do you have another key you can try to make sure it's not the key?
@@ExoticCarDIY no I do not currently. I need to get one tho. The bush button works perfectly. I tried the sequence with the push button. Don’t know if did anything tho. I guess I need to work on getting a 2nd key first to see if my main key is the culprit
