- 3 Best Resets to freshen up your Mercedes Benz Experience
1. Transmission Adaptation Reset
2. Throttle Boddy and idle Learning Reset
3. Mercedes-Benz Battery ECU TCU Reset
Hello and welcome to Benz Addiction
Todays video is very important because it can easily save you a lot of money and hassle, and basically, you don’t need any tools to perform these resets. And they are absolutely free. So if you have any Mercedes-Benz from 1997 to 2012, with M112, M113, M271, M276 and M111 engines Also if you have any 5 speed 722.6 or 7 speed 722.8 transmissions, keep please watching this video and please share your experience in the comment section with other Benz Owners.
The first reset is the transmission reset, if you have recently bought your car or you have never done a reset on your 5 speed or 7 speedsl transmission or you have recently noticed that the shift points are not desired and too early or too late, you should benefit from this reset, basically what this reset does is, set the shift points and throttle response to the factory defaults so it can be le-learned. it is important to note that this reset only resets the self adaptation data in TCU and ECU.
2. Throttle Boddy and idle learning.
If you have low or high idle issues or if you have never done this reset on your Mercedes, you can benefit from it and it is really harmless.
Leave the ignition in position 2 with all the light on for 3 miin and do not touch any thing you can also at the same time raise the hoodand enjoy the music played by the throttle body which i call it sonata in F minor....
after 3 min you can shut off the ignition remove the key and staet enjoying your newly adapted idle and throttle body.
3. This reset is only recommended if you have more acute transmission and engine issues. It is sometimes called a hard reset too. Definitely this reset is not going to help if you have some sort of hardware problems but the basis over here is that any computer sometimes requires resetting to solve the time to time software, ECU and TCU Glitches. THIS is ususally a last resort if you are for example can't spot the issue and for instance you are going to take your car to a mechanic. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Hi friends, these 2 harmless and free Resets, can change the way your Mercedes-Benz drive, the last one can also fix some substantial errors too. Please let me know in the comments how these work for you, cheers Max.
I performed this on my 2007 R230 and boy what a difference it made. Instant Horsepower.
Great to hear 👍
Very helpful and very practical techniques mate, thanking you.
Thanks mate 👍 😀
I have a 2004 E500 4matic wagon that just hit 250K miles and I thought the torque converter or the trans was going. Low speed shudder, delayed shift from 3 to 4, hunting for gears coasting downhill, etc. I did the reset and 90% of the issues are GONE! Try it, you'll like it!
👍
Also, clear all of your codes through all modules and drive about 50 miles. The car will basically try to reset to factory and will feel fresh again.
i am soo happy i found your channel!!! i have the exact same model and have just started dabbling in doing the reoairs myself, so seeing these videos is certainly raising my confidence to do this stuff. please don't stop with these videos!!!!!
Thanks mate, another video is coming in 1 hour , cheers.
Another superb video, will try them
Thanks Allan, let us know the results if you can please.
Thanks mate, great vids.
👍
I did the reset on W163 ML430 and yes it changed idle speed to 700 rpm from 600 rpm. Much happier - Thank-you111❤
Glad it worked on W163 M113 4.3 too.
New subbed! We have 2004 E320 225k miles… yearly oil changes and Air filter/cabin. Will be watching all videos and make a list of preventative maintenance to keep our going.
Great to have you hear mate, E320 is the sweet spot of practicality and joy...
Hard reset (disconnected battery for 10min.) Fixed the battery warning light on my 2002 w203 C180K. Shift reset fixed shifting at 4000rpm from previous owner.
Thanks mate 👍
Thank you
You are welcome
thank you
👍
Excelent!
👍
I have tried the auto reset before it makes a difference
Thanks mate for confirmation 👍
I tried the throttle response reset a while back. I had bought a used 2005 C320 4MATIC and it was driving smooth but didn't like to get up and go. After the reset the car almost immediately started having issues, no-start, running rough, poor fuel economy. My mechanic had to reset all the adaptations twice to get it working decently again. My mechanic thought it was weird that I should have those problems from the throttle reset procedure, maybe I have a sensor going out on me.
Should be s.th else simultaneously happened to the engine :)
Just bought my 2005 CLK320 Convertible 137k from a friend who had it as a 3rd car sitting in garage... nice! made a big difference with this! After buying I was reading horror stories if balancing shaft but this seems to run great and hopefully its not going to fail on me! its my daily driver... only thing not working or at least im not sure how to do it is the start button on the shifter.. it says key not recognized.. maybe battery in key? hmmm will check... also the passenger presenter.. havent looked for fuse yet but will if its a seperate fuse for each side and the previous owner said the main struts may need replaced as havent taken down top yet but I can do that work myself so wasnt too worried..ive seen it down before and its in good condition... however..... after they stopped using it when it was struggling, it was time for them to change battery so maybe it was battery related... I may check soon when I know I have time and a helping hand to rectify it if it doesnt go up or down properly
Excellent, for all the issues you mentioned, I have a separate video, so make sure to check them, check my W209 playlist out and good luck.
ok sure will! my other vehicle is an 03 land rover discovery 2 which i work on constantly... so hopefully this is a lot less maintenance lol @@BenzAddiction
which foxwell engine diagnostic tool do you have?
@dparham Engine and transmission wise I think CLK is going to be 3 times more reliable;)
Thank you thank you thank you !!!! I have bought a CLK 500 one week ago from an old couple. The geabox was good but the feeling was heavy ... But it was working fine when you push hard on the accelerator. With the 2 first reset everything change.. I have a new gearbox .. Quicker and more responding... Thanks again...!!! One question how long for the self learning to be done ?
Great to hear, few hours of normal driving
@@BenzAddiction ok !! thanks again
❤

Too much valuable info. Normally CLK versions use as a fun car & drive occasionally. Like whenever I try to start it after 30 days it's all the time need to charge battery by disconnecting one terninal. So what's the minimum time you recomend, wemust driver CLK & is it normal behaviour of battery issue after 30 daya gap OR battery need to change.
Thanks mate, weak Battery can cause numerous malfunctions on Mercedes-Benz. I suggest connecting a trickle charger every week at least if not using the car instead disconnecting the battery, they are cheap these days even a 2 Amp trickle charger can do the job.
Nice stitching on the steering! How did you do it? Thanks
Search CLK steering leather on eBay... $15, stitch it on the steering wheel in 10 min...
Thank you!
Do I need to buy a stitch kit for it?
@wallidan392 I recently bought this for my W164 ML, they make it for most Mercedes-Benz steering patterns, find yours:

Will it work if you have a p0705 code and check engine light on?
It should...
When doing this, do I have to put the gearbox into neutral? And do I have to take The handbrake off.
No in P.
It's not transmission adaptation reset. You can make adaptations only with using Star's or other diag tool. What you done there is removed last throttle adaptations and ecu now is re-learning your gas pedal positions. Good for better launch start, but it will increase fuel consumption a bit.

I looked but hadnt found a video on what could be my issue if my shifter start button just triggers a code on dash saying key not detected however door locks work, trunk lock works but the door handle doesnt unlock if I grab it and it doesnt lock with the button,, when I gram door handle it says key not detected hmmm new battery also

Hello, I recently replaced the battery in my 2007 CLK350 convertible and since then, some strange electrical issues have arisen. The headlights only work in "auto" mode and do not function normally. The mood lighting and dashboard also do not illuminate at night unless the headlights are on auto. Additionally, the key fob no longer locks or unlocks the doors, and the trunk will not open unless I use the manual key. The most annoying issue is that the two front windows will not completely close, leaving a small gap between the convertible top and the windows. I should also add that the car believes the top is in Constant operation and it won’t go up or down
You need to run a re-learn/resets on modules, pretty simple with windows, I have few videos on this.
@@BenzAddiction Oh thank you. Should I start with #3 from this video of disconnecting the negative battery cable?
@@Phil0609 hold the window switches for more than 5 seconds each direction when stopped first...
Does to this work for Mercedes clk 200 kompressor ?
100 percent.
@@BenzAddictionthanks legend
When I tried to do the throttle body reset I couldn't hear any noises coming from the throttle body under the hood does that mean it didn't work
That's weird.
I usually disconnect my negative battery terminal just because I don’t want my battery drained.would that cause and issue based on what U said last on ur video ??
It is not risk-free. Best practice would be to connect a good trickle charger and set it on maintenance mode. Good for battery life and peace of mind and ...
@@BenzAddiction what u mean is not risk free
@crypto_11 Every time you connect the battery and disconnect it, that produces a surge in the 50 control units which increases the risk of sensitive control modules to fry...
Ml350 2009 will it work?
Should work, give it a go!!!
03 clk320 a 209 will it work
Sure it will.
How leaving your car without a battery overnight will damage it ?
It is the surge of power that can damage control units when you connect or disconnect the battery. Low probability but possible.
@@BenzAddiction That is what I thought but there should be some level of protection against that happening.
as long as you disconnect your black terminal first and put it back on last you don't have to worry about surges .
W212... Where is ecu fuse? I understand is possible to reset when take and put back this fuse
th-cam.com/video/U1tyHTd6uN4/w-d-xo.html
the 7 speed is 722.9 not 722.8
Yes correct 👌
will this work for a 2010 Mercedes c300
Give it a go, there is no harm in trying.
