My Muslim Heart: Dating Outside My Faith (Dating Documentary) | Real Stories

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 17 พ.ย. 2023
- Hidden Heart follows the stories of three second-generation British Muslim women who find love outside their faith. The film delves intimately into their struggle to reconcile modernity with tradition; their internal conflicts and their fear of ostracism and sheds light on the hidden tensions in our modern society between integration and tradition and the people who are at the heart of it. The film explores a new vision of cultural identity, defying the notion of a so-called 'clash of cultures' and challenging barriers to understanding between different communities. Although focusing on the lives of British men and women, the film will strike a chord with any and all of those around the world living in a tight-knit community, under pressure to maintain their identity.

I would never change my religion for a men . No men is worth that , love yourself first
That's the thing u don't change ur religion for another human being. It is Allah who guides whom he wills. And if He wants u to change ur religion and become a Muslim then He will through another person or just like that without anyone telling u to become a Muslim. So it's really not up to us, it's Allah. That's why we Muslims r extremely grateful and thankful for Islam bcuz Allah has chosen us to worship Him and guided us to Him. Idk if you understand but I just try to give you our Muslims perspective to it
Exactly. Non Muslim women should also respect themselves and their families and never marry Muslim men or convert just to get married to them...
I must respectfully clarify that the assertion presented contains misinformation. The issue at hand is not a reflection of the religion Islam but rather cultural practices prevalent in specific regions and communities, particularly in the Subcontinent and Arab cultures. As an African Muslim, I can attest that no one is compelling me to marry a cousin or relative, nor are parents arranging marriages for me. It's crucial to understand that cultural practices can differ significantly across various regions and communities, even within the same religious framework. Islam, as outlined in the Quran and the teachings of our Prophet, promotes independence for women and does not endorse compulsion in matters such as marriage. It's essential to differentiate between cultural norms and religious principles, as misrepresentation can lead to misunderstandings. I hope this clarification helps provide a more accurate perspective on the matter.
So you'rre basically saying everything good is from religion and everything bad is from culture? How realistic is that position?
For example, arranged marriage is as Islamic as it is a part of Desi or Arab culture. Especially for girls. Both our culture and religion encourage communal and familial obligations over the individuality we find in the West.
When it comes to Islam vs Culture, the rule to follow is almost always: Everything good came from the culture that place had before Islam, everything bad comes from Islam.
To an extent ur right, but the thing is people have to realize there is nothing wrong with arranged marriages. This is very different from a forced marriage and people need to realize that. I also wanted to say that this video is about women dating outside of their faith. The two problems here is that they are dating, which is the issue and is haram, and second, they are getting with people outside of their faith which is veryyy haram. As muslim women, we are not allowed to marry a non muslim man, only muslim men are allowed to do that (marry women from monotheistic religions). So the fact that people are taking it as Islam doesn’t accept l Muslims to marry others from different cultures and ethnicities is pissing me off. Its actually totally okay, and Muslims from all backgrounds should be treated equally, it’s just the only thing that’s not allowed is that, like mentioned earlier, Muslim women cannot marry non Muslim men. Period. Otherwise it the marriage isn’t valid and she’ll be living the rest of her life in haram.
Ok great did u know quran.permits men to have sxx with girl children before puberty?

Forced marriage is illegal in the UK. This includes:
taking someone overseas to force them to marry (whether or not the forced marriage takes place)
arranging a marriage for someone who lacks mental capacity (whether they’re pressured to or not)
arranging a marriage for someone before they turn 18
Forcing someone to marry can result in a sentence of up to 7 years in prison.
Forced marriage is also prohibited in Islam. I think the documentary should have highlighted that the forced marriage was based on the (Moroccan/Indian) culture- not Islam. It is not allowed to force a girl to marry someone she does not wish to marry.

It all matters on how much you, personally, want religion to be a part of your day to day lives.
The only reason anyone would want Religion to be part of their life that badly, is if they have been indoctrinated from a young age.
The problem occurs when others want to impose how much religion should be part of your life, as this film shows. That is the tragedy.

At a certain point in one's life, one must accept the realization of being an adult, and then actually make an adult decision. If you want to marry someone, then do it and deal with the consequences in a mature manner. Being of the same religion is not a prerequisite to a happy or a successful marriage. Love and respect for one another are necessary. I am a Christian married to a Hindu. I've never made my wife do anything she hasn't wanted to do, and nor have I ever prevented her from doing anything she has truly wanted to do. By the love and grace of God, we have had a wonderful marriage now for 47 years..
How did you bring up your kids knowing that they have parents with different faith?
Other religions can co-exists, but definitely 1 cannot.
With corruption, money and propaganda they are being moved around the globe to destabilise and conquer in an unconventional invasion.
You compromised your faith, as Muslims we cannot do this. There are rules and regulations, you obey God's commands or don't. its your choice, there is a reaction for every action. Besides that; under Islamic rule, that lady is living in sin, by marrying a non muslim, which is Not counted as legal marriage in Islam.

Love this story telling. Nice and human. Unbiased.
My first question is , if muslims believe their faith is the most important thing, why are they moving into Western countries with their own religion and philosophy?
In regards to true Christian doctrine, parents are to raise up their children according to the Bible, and that will continue until the child leaves their parents home. The only thing parents can do, is discipline them, and give them the reason why things are withheld from them. By just giving them rules, without telling the reason or consequences behind the laws, this is where I believe we do a great disservice to children. Ultimately, when they leave their parents home, all the parents can do is hope that they have taught their children well, because they must be given freedom to make their own choices.
The idea of controlling children, or forcing them into arranged marriages is repulsive. If you are born into a culture, where this is all one knows, or is socially acceptable, I can comprehend it, but moving to London and then trying to impose these values on your kids is absurd.

All man made rules. Ok for the man not the woman
Especially in Islam, EVERYTHING is for the man's benefit. Islam is zero for the woman.
A religion that forces you to convert is not worthy of respect as it is implying that religion is superior when obviously it’s not. Everyone should have the free will to believe and practice what they like and marry who they want to without apparent laws like this in their religion. If you expect your partner to convert to your religion to marry you, you don’t accept them for who they are, religion and all.
Well if ur not Muslim u won't understand
No religion forces anyone to convert ok! It's always a choice. And actually God is more important. A Godless life means people usually are unhappy and live like crap.
It's your opinion, we will not gonna fo the things which are prohibited in our religion ☪️.
Religion belong to God. It's superior. You are some one who worship your own desires so you follow a philosophy that align with your religion if slf worship
Good documentary.
I think no human should ever be at ease knowing that the partner was blackmailed into converting. If they voluntarily do it, well and good. But if it's your family pushing him/her to the edge till they result to a decision they'd have never made...then, your convertee spouse is living in religion captivity.
You met a grown human and loved everything about them. They're well mannered, loving, handsome/beautiful, responsible and every virtue, then someone imagines that it's ok to rob them off their faith/ religion😥 It's selfishness. Dreams of a loving couple shouldn't be shattered by religion.
I have seen a Jew getting married to a Christian with not having to denounce their faith. I have also seen a Muslim girl marrying to a Christian man and they are still together but away from the troublesome family.
At some point love is going to win over religious intolerance.

I would like to clarify some misconceptions that I have encountered in the comments. Muslim women are not allowed to marry non-Muslim men, and non-Muslim men or women cannot convert solely for the purpose of marriage. Muslim men, on the other hand, can marry women of the book, although this is disputed as some believe Christians are no longer true monotheists. While the practice is allowed for men, it is generally discouraged, and these rulings are not in dispute.
One of the tenets of Sharia is obeying the law of the land, and women are free to make their own choices. However, in the eyes of Islam, the marriage is considered null. When consummated, the individuals involved remove themselves from the framework of Islam, and this is something they must accept. Nevertheless, compassion for them is not precluded.
The reasons why Muslim women cannot marry non-Muslim men are numerous, and I will list a few below:
Inheritance rights
Mehr rights
Family rights
All of the above fall under Islamic marriage contracts and cannot be enforced when a Muslim woman marries a non-Muslim man. Contrary to popular belief, Islam actually provides robust rights to women within marriage. Examples include:
Meher (a woman sets a price for her hand in marriage)
The man has to provide all financial needs, and the woman's money is her own. It's often joked that "the woman's money is her money, the man's money is her money."
No obligations for chores.
The ability to divorce.
Additional requirements that can be set during the marriage contract.
In Islam, we believe in love, but we also hold the concept that love is developed over time through trials and tribulations, not blind lust. The key principle is the harmony of the family unit, which takes precedence above all else.
What this means is if a couple devorces for example a clean split with no kids, the man keeps all his assets and the woman only walks away with her meher the price that she sets, think of this as a built in pre-nup, as she has no requormemts for any contribution towards the household.
There is more complexity to all of this, howeber this is just a broad understanding as to why the rules are set the way they are.
Today law courts for women has changed, after divorce she gets it all, I mean ALL 😂
U convert bcz u found the faith not bcz if someone u fall in love with 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
As a Muslim we are told to marry another Muslim because our whole life depends on Islamic etiquettes .. from the food we eat, to clothes we wear, to fasting in Ramadan and we are suppose to enjoy this with a spouse of the same faith .. if it was a faith that you just carry individually in your heart as a personal thing, then it’s different 😊
No. It was because Mo was highly discriminatory and wanted to spread the faith by using women as chattel.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL. ONE LOVE !
All this madness and pain caused by the belief that there's an invisible man living in an invisible kingdom in the clouds.
We are social beings and to fall in love is part of being social. So why does society dictate its cruel rules as to what is appropriate about who to fall in love with and who is forbidden!
Nice doc
So shameful, as a Muslim. Everyone one have the right to love regardless of religion

Islam divides human into Muslims and Kaafir ( Worst of creatures). It’s discriminate against not only against Kaafir, even against men and women. Thats why, I’m Ex-Muslim, Now.
And in Judaism there's Goyim or Jew. But In Jesus there's neither gentile or jew, servant or free, woman or man. It's incredible to me how all 3 religions can trace themselves back to Abraham and have much in common but also differ on many aspects.
As for me, I choose to follow Jesus.

It is so disgusting that some people raise their children in Western societies and then force them to live by the traditions of their parents home country. Moreover, I often got the feeling, those kind of people look down on the culture and the people of their chosen new country.
Which leaves me with the question, why they didn't stay where they came from...
They immigrate to the West for Welfare.
Totally agree with you!!
There are plenty of reasons why someone may have to stay in a country that they disslike. But I agree with you whole heartedly on your first point because you really have to be a special kind of div to not consider the possibility that raising your child in a multicultural country will result in that child *shock* *horror* to have deep and meaningful relationships with people from all walks of life. If they don't like that idea then they should refrain from having children.
When Anthony’s dad said he would convert too if Anthony’s mum was of a different faith 🥺
The truth is, when we believe in any religion, we must study that religion so that we solidly understand how the religion works and we also we must be the practitioner of that religion. If we say that we believe in any specific religion but we do not embrace it physically and wholeheartedly, then we are hypocrites.
If we are not believers of any religion, then just say to other people that we are agnostics.
Unfortunately islam is so unknown to the western world and even to the muslims themselves.
This is the most complicated religion because of the cover up lies that is going on in present times.
I really recommend an Arab called Christian Prince because he shows islamic references as it is without sugarcoating.
I got my life threatened by my Muslim friend's family because I asked his sister to prom.
Probably best to keep your distance from Muslim girls if you don’t want to be the cause of an honor killing (or getting yourself killed.)
I hope you aren’t too traumatized. Good luck.
That's a bit of over reaction 😂. I'm Muslim too but my family would just complain nothing more. I think British parents would do the same because of the fear of unknown
Be a Muslim and you marry her in the eyes of God
So what happened then?
The more I hear about religions, the more I believe there should be none. That would make everything easier for everyone, seeing what unites them and not what separates them. There should only be faith without the constraints of any organized religion.
When you love someone why convert... this is the biggest problem.
These young Ladies are very courageous.
I think being a white western woman I am very lucky. These women must face horrendous struggles. But you have to be happy whatever else. I don’t care if my children marry white, black, Muslim, Chinese etc as long as both are happy, they love , care and respect each other. I really feel for these girls who face such challenges. But those challenges and that guilt just proves what lovely people they are. So in effect their parents have a done a good job. It’s so sad but I can understand how difficult it is for everyone involved. Just wish I had answers! X
You should actually care whom they marry. Imagine if your daughter gets married to a strict muslim man and they force her to wear the burqa. Would you be happy in this case?
@@desiguy5508 I think that would be her choice. No I wouldn’t be happy about it and there would be discussions but ultimately I wouldn’t push my daughter away or lose her for anything. My children are now all grown up and have chosen their life partners so it’s not going to be an issue. I just find it so sad that religion comes above the love for your child .

Ah the religion of peace, so respectful and loving. Simply a ancient scourge that should be eradicated.
You will die but this religion will never. 😂😂
The issue at hand is not a reflection of the religion Islam but rather cultural practices prevalent in specific regions and communities, particularly in the Subcontinent and Arab cultures.
Wow the first lady her dad came to the UK in 1950 and her mum in 1973 that is 23 years...long time...I am sure the father went for visit but still.
That means he came with his parents when he was young and her mum came over from her country after marrying her father.

there is voluntary celibacy (recognizing the vanity of sterile intercourse for the sake of pleasure), the devaluation of implied by fornication (today called 'dating'; physical intimacy without promise of commitment), and self-improvement which stems from self-love.
